This Ralph's store is the neighborhood store for many of us. It's reliable; this store is open most ours of the day. I like to go here late at night when coming home from work, and I'm happy to know that I can head over to a place that's on the way home. Most produce is available in the morning, and the later hours tend to have lower quality products. There are also some cool additions to this store, such as: sushi bar, deli, cakes/sweets, coin counter, DMV machine, and key copier. I love their Friday $5 sushi deal for a spicy tuna roll. Their rolls might not be as creative as others but, seeing as the items are coming from a grocery store, their fish is super fresh! It tends to run a bit expensive though, but it is honestly the best place for grab-and-go sushi. The man that makes these rolls is super nice too, and you can find him making the rolls in the morning. Simply put, it's just a super convenient store to stop by on your way home. Basic things like meats, vegetables, snacks, milk, etc. are always in stock. Just go in and go out, easy! read more

A great market.. keeps the "super" in supermarket. Although an older store in footprint size - it still delivers with a great deli, bakery, meat, frozen and produce sections. Good deli sandwiches, the fried chicken is usually fresh, good selection of cakes & pastries. Good produce and liquor selection as well. All the normal stuff. Always clean and well kept. Plenty of parking (next to a Right Aid which makes it convenient). The best thing is the great friendly service you always get here. Good friendly neighborhood market. If you're in the Temple City area and looking to stock up on your food supply, stop by here if you can. It's the only Ralph's in this town. PROS: - There's MORE THAN enough parking spaces, but you might not get the ones nearest the store. - Has a recycling center. - Has a Redbox booth located OUTSIDE the store. Sooo, you can pick up your rented movies/games on any day at any time. - Really nice employees. A man helped me get a drink from the way back of a top shelf. I don't know how he did it using just his arms, but he did. CONS: - No self-checkout system, so the lines can get long. - Sensors near the RIGHT entrance are broken. They would sometimes beep on you, even when you KNOW you've purchased your items. Don't be scared though. Just continue like normal. The employees understand. - No particular station to return your items. Go to any cash register and let the cashier know that you're returning. Trust me. I come to buy the chicken both Swanson that are advertised for sale. They are not limiting how many a person can buy. When I got 50 cans out to the cashiers they said limited 20 per customer. I asked them there is no signs that said limiting, then the manager come out and she said we have the right to limit our inventory. So now we are limiting 5 can per customer, she said. I told her it is not even work because we have to buy at least 10. Then she said ok then 10 cans per customer. I told her thank you please take them back. Well this is one of the grocery stores that I go to on occasion. It is the closest traditional supermarket to me. They have a very clean store and it is well stocked with many things. The produce is fresh and of high quality. The meats are tasty with a large selection. Literally they have just about all the major items that a standard grocery would contain. Unlike the specialty markets that are catered to specific ethnicities, this store carries a small selection of many different specialty items and a lot of regular items. They have a much larger selection of snacks, cleaning supplies, and personal grooming needs than any other grocery around it seems. Just beware that their prices are also on the higher end of things. {convid19 review} I'm honestly "speechless". I arrived at the store this AM (5/19/2020) around 6:30am, 30 minutes after the special hours opened. Shortly after entering the store, the guy who let me in walked up to me and asked me how old I was (I'm 31, clearly not elderly) He then asked me to leave and pointing to my 37 week pregnant stomach, I asked "I'm not considered vulnerable?" At which point, the lady who I assumed was a store manager or some sort and the person who asked him to ask me in the first place walked over (she was watching us the whole time) and said how old are you? You're not elderly. I again, pointed at my enormous pregnant stomach and said but aren't the special hours for all vulnerable groups? She then replied "yea...we are very strict" at this point I walked out in utter shock and disbelief. Here are my 3 main issues with what happened: 1. the spirit of store's special hour policy 2. the fact that I was actually asked to leave 3. the way I was asked to leave. 1. Granted, giving you credit, your website doesn't list pregnant woman as part of your special hours. Neither does many other grocery stores such as Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, etc. I've shopped during their special hours on countless occasions since March 2020. The spirit of the special hours reserved for vulnerable groups is to protect those shoppers who might take a longer time, need more assistance, or should be sectioned off from the general public because they've been classified as more vulnerable by org such as the CDC. Last I checked, those who are pregnant, with disabilities, or other health or immune system compromised individuals are vulnerable. I'm shocked Ralph's vulnerable group only include those who are 65+. Just last week, I was in line at the TJ on Huntington among a sea of elderly shoppers during their special hours and not only was I not asked to leave even though their website doesn't include the verbiage "pregnant woman" I was asked if I wanted a chair brought out to me to sit since I looked so seriously pregnant. I don't see the older folks being asked that? Props TJ, that's amazing customer service and I politely declined. 2. I can't believe I was actually asked to leave. If that's your company policy fine, but as a store manager, couldn't you have just explained that to me but allow me to shop just this once? The amount of coordination that went into finding child care this early for my toddler at home, and planning all the cooking around the fact that I could get groceries this AM, all the while incredibly pregnant and during a pandemic made this hard to swallow 3. the way I was told "we are pretty strict" were her exact words. I'm not some person trying to find a loophole. SEE POINT 1. I'm a vulnerable person, in fact, you could say my body was 2 vulnerable people, me and my 37 week old fetus. If I get sick, when the baby comes out, she will be sick. If I get sick and need to go to the ICU, I could die and lose my baby. She told me off like I was some unreasonable costumer trying to sneak by and got caught. You could've simply apologized for the company policy and say "I'm so sorry but this is our company policy, I'm not sure why we haven't included any other vulnerable persons but we are only allowed to let those who are 65+ in during our special hours. As much as I wish it was different, I'm not allowed to change it or made exceptions". While it would've still been shocking to hear, it would've been easier to swallow that response. I felt almost shamed about showing up and thinking I could shop! You've lost my patronage for good. What a great job (not) you're doing during covid19 when businesses big and small have gone out of their way to protect those who are vulnerable or heroic during this unprecedented global catastrophe. read more

So I just went into Ralph's to get milk bread and at the check out, the card machine couldn't process my atm card. I had to reinsert it and swipe it over 15 times. Cashier said there is nothing wrong with their machine. Next customer had the same problem. Again, nothing is wrong with their machine. Came in on 10/1 at 12:30 with my parents, went to self checkout because we only had a few items, and Andrew with the "LA" and microphone tattoos on his arm was completely inept and viciously rude to us. He was having a long, drawn out conversation with a customer when we asked him a question and he ignored us. Finally, we're able to get his attention, and he gets angry with us because whoever he was talking to says "I'll talk to you later." My father asks if he was busy and Andrew snaps, "I'm having a conversation with someone." My father says, "Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you worked here," to which Andrew snaps back, "I *DO* work here, I was having a conversation about family problems." .... I'm sorry but, okay? Maybe talk when you're not at work and when you're not the only person around to help my parents and I figure out the self checkout machine? He couldn't even HIDE how much he disliked us, slamming our products on the machine and rolling his eyes when we asked him for anything. I'm pregnant and my parents are older and don't understand technology, we all have problems, Andrew. This guy should not be working customer service. I have been coming to this Ralphs market for over 30 years.... It's amazing that this store withstood so many ups and downs of our economy. I'm actually very thankful that the place exists because this is my primary store for most of our food (other than Costco and eating out). The staff, over the past year or so, have been getting more friendly and helpful as well. I will definitely be coming back for a long time. =) read more

I rarely make it to this close but yet out of the way Ralphs. The store seems a bit old school, but that's part of the charm. I feel this is middle America, and find myself remembering the past shopping with my mom and looking for the sweets and ice cream along each aisle. Sales are few and far between though, as other Ralphs have sale racks in hidden corners of the store; maybe this Ralphs has it too well hidden. I went in to order pull apart cupcakes and I provided the bakery with a specific design I wanted for Halloween. The person who was helping me told me that someone will call me back. Few days past and I didn't receive a call back. So I walked in again and this time I was able to talk tot he manager Jason. I showed him what I wanted and when I needed it. He said oh that's easy. I can make that for you. A day before the pick up date, a lady calls me and tells me that he wasn't going to be in and she doesn't have any experience with making a pull part cupcake but she will try. I asked for something simple then and I ended up with regular cupcakes with eyes and a mouth out on the cupcake. I wished I took a pic. It wasn't a pull apart cupcake. I don't blame the lady for trying to help. She was honest with me. Don't Commit to making something if you can't make it. Or call me yourself and tell me you can't make it. I'd give 0 stars if I could! My mom was at this location picking up crab legs that were on sale. Today being Tuesday it was unfortunately the last day of the sale. She went to the meat dept but nobody was available. She called from her car & was told the person was on lunch break .. it was 630 & the meat dept closed at 8. When the person finally returned my mom asked for the crab legs & was told they were in the back behind 3 pallets probably frozen & she couldn't get to them. My mom then asked if she could get a rain check. The employee told her she didn't know. As an employee you should know what your company policies are or at a minimum take the time to find out for your customer!!! My mom waited for nothing!!! What a waste!! 7-18-22 about 9:00 am i go into store and this time they have the cart wipes all bunched in the plastic bag. it looks like the person responsible for this task was not interested in respecting customers. being even the little employee got a $5.00 raise and seems now the do less then before. i did notice that when you see employees they are looking at there phones or b.s.ing and seems they get more money and do half of what they did before. when the pandemic first started i had great respect for this store as they would spray carts and give people wipes. now its self serve looks like. maybe manager michael buenventura should read the yelps as its his name on the receipt and now a lot of people will see his name enjoy read more

I really have no problem with Ralphs. It's about 3, 4 blocks from where I live and always has things you need. Good selection of produce, meat/seafood, and the deli always has decent food for a good price if you want it. Normally I head here with a couple friends to pick up things to put on the grill, they normally have advertised specials of rib eyes, top sirloin, t-bones, etc. that dont necessarily come in max packs. They're normally always in stock. This place used to be 24 hours, which i found out when i got there when i got there, walked to the doors, and almost ran into it haha. Everyone who works here is super friendly and helpful. I enjoy seeing the familiar faces when I shop, and being asked how my day and/or week is going. I also enjoy the checkers and baggers inquiring about my meals when I buy ingredients they've never heard of or seen. Great memorial weekend sales at Ralphs. I got my big USDA choice ribeye steak for $5.99 a pound. The steak is thick and full of good marbling which will give us a very juicy dinner steak tonight. The chicken is also on sale. For Forster Farm's chicken thighs, the price is only $1.79 a pound. The thighs are perfect for grill or oven baking. I am preparing a honey crispy bake chicken thighs for lunch. To go with all these meats, we got some asparagus for only $149 a pound. The best way to cook the asparagus is bake in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes with just salt, black pepper and olive oil for seasoning. We should have a very sumptuous dinner tonight without breaking the bank. read more

I usually come here often with it being my local grocery store, but I had a particularly unpleasant visit this evening. Their sales manager Bertha was unhelpful to say the least, and wasn't afraid to show her annoyance with my needing help with an order of a dozen balloons. Her side comments were unnecessary and after suggesting I come back in the morning, she proceeded to say "if they know how to help you then they know, if they don't then they don't." Came here during the week before noon. I loved the fact that it has a big parking lot, it makes it easy to find parking. I also liked the fact that this location is in a good location nice neighborhood. I enjoyed the fact that there was not many people inside but I know the timing made a difference. We frequent this Ralphs almost every single day since the best Ralph's in our area closed on Live Oak a few years ago. For over 10 years we have given the Ralph's in Temple City our business. Today we purchased a pound of chicken tenders at the deli that were deep fried and apparently cooked . Halfway home, my daughter tells me that the chicken tastes weird and if it's ok. After seeing the completely raw chicken that both my kids ate at least half a pound of I immediately pulled over and called the store. After speaking to one manager on the phone and then a different manager (Michael) in person and a co director ( Robert) in person we were offered EITHER a refund or another batch of chicken. NOT ONE of these managers showed any concern that my young kids had injested a toxic amount of RAW CHICKEN. They argued that all the food they serve is temped before selling which is false, it is 100% false in this case. I cook chicken at least 3 times a week, there's NO WAY that chicken that RAW was 160 degrees. I didnt turn around and drive back to the store with two starving kids for $7. I went back because we purchased COOKED chicken and were served raw chicken and innocent kids who eat whatever is served to them had to suffer. These people shouldn't be managing our food. The people in charge of this location should be replaced. They have no concern about the safety of their customers, especially children. Chicken should be 160 degrees when fully cooked. This chicken was not cooked. And it was not to temperature. It was raw. This is a health code violation. This is not ok. My kids could end up in the hospital. This is a big deal.Thanks Ralphs. The WORST customer service around. Everyone that works at this Ralph's is RUDE. Especially the deli department. I try never to go here because the employees are all SO rude but yesterday I only needed a few items and this Ralph's unfortunately is closer to my house than Vons. I picked up 4 items and went to self check out, I purchased 1 bag and ask the employee who was just standing there if I could please get a bag, she pointed towards the back of the store and said "back there, I looked and still didn't see the bags so again I asked her and again she said "back there after asking for the 3rd time I finally found the stupid bags. Bottom line is she was RUDE and has horrible customer service as most grocery stores will have someone standing there willing to help and will hand you bags. Will never go back to this store. I've never seen anything so pathetic and cheap before. Apparently they have a new company policy to "save energy". The entire store dims their light after 10 pm (even though they're open till 1 am), and they turn off the light altogether by the fridges. So good luck trying to see the prices without stopping and staring at every single item. As if that wasn't enough, they don't have the heat on, again, go conserve energy. It's frickin 45 degrees outside, and they don't care. Also, the staff was rude and indifferent about my opinion. Way to go, Ralphs. Keep that up and you'll go out of business very soon. From what I can tell, this Ralphs has been here for a long time. To its credit, the staff is always busy doing something. There are a lot of negative reviews. Some of them have valid issues. I have not had any of the problems others have listed. Rotten fruit will be found almost everywhere. People want the freshest fruit and for it to be lacking in preservatives. Guess what...fresh fruit rots and the ones that are incubated on the bottom of the stack turn the quickest. That is how life works. Moving on, the floors are clean. I have not seen a pool of liquids or filth yet. The staff is the heart of this place. Cycle out the old for the new at all hours. I've eaten at the deli without issue. I've been helped when I have asked for it. My only gripe is that it lacks a butcher. There is a seafood section where they have fresh seafood. I have not tried anything from that section. I prefer to go to places that specialize in a wide variety when I am in the mood. This is a solid location. The staff is hard working. I have lived one block from this store for 31 years and I have very little good to say about it. When you shop there, know your prices, and watch what comes up on the register. Two of my last 3 trips to this store, I purchased one item each time, and 2 out of the 3 times, I was charged a price over 30% more than the indicated prices on their shelves. This, in itself, is bad, but the way you are treated when you call the errors to the checkers attention is atrocious! The first time the price difference on the item was about 35 cents ... no big deal ... right? Well, the cashier told me I must have made a mistake. She argued with me that I picked up the "green band celery" and read the sign for the "red band celery". I pointed out to her that there is only one type of celery in the store, and the sign above it states "green band celery" and the price which was less than she charge. She gave me a real snide look and said, "I will charge you for the red band celery this time" like she was doing me a favor ... as I left, I looked back and she just went on to the next customer ... that tells me the next sucker who purchases that product will pay the wrong price because she did nothing to check it or correct it. Less than a week later, I go to purchase a 4 pound bag of dog food. The shelf price was $4.34 (it is on sale). It rang up for $5.79. I told the cashier of the difference, and she just looked at me for the longest time and said nothing. After a short while of the silent treatment, I repeated to her that the shelf price showed it is discounted to $4.34. She snapped back at me, "Well, it isn't my fault, the computer charges more". I said, then override it. She called a boxer to do a price check. The boxer brought back the shelf price tag the clearly showed the lower price ... she adjusted the cost, and gave me a mechanical "thank you" when she handed me the receipt. I looked as I left, and there was no indication she was doing anything to correct the error for future shoppers. I have had several other poor customer service situations at that store, and have heard others complain about the attitude of many of the employees there. I complained once and heard back from the store manager who was one of the people who treated us like trash. It is no wonder I do my major shopping elsewhere. The reason for 3 stars is that it is always very crowded and sometimes even hard to find a parking spot. Also, compared to other Ralph's like the one ones in Irvine, it is not quite as good. I used to like Ralphs stores in general but lately it has become excruciating shopping there. Cutting employees and replacing them with self checkouts has made it a horrible experience. Self checkouts are slow and horrible. You can't scan simple stuff, as they often throw error messages. You cannot scan alcohol there like beer. Your alternative is to wait in a regular line where at best you will have maybe 2 checkouts open durning rush time with a bunch of people lining up. Couple times I just wanted to buy some beer as I like the deals they have and I simply left. One time I decided to wait and it took me some 20 minutes to pay for a case of beer only. You just want to scan one case of beer but you have bunch of people with full carts in front of you...I have just given up on this grocery chain. read more

This my local market, less than 2 miles from home, so I come here all the time especially for decent pricing on Stell Artois beer. The deal last night was $4.00 off for each 12 pack but must but 2. I thought I would save an additional $4.00 if I purchased 3, and that wasn't the case, which is pretty misleading IMO. I didn't realize this until I got my receipt. So I think to myself, why didn't the cashier (Diane) tell me that as I walked back into the market. As soon as I get back to the cashier, she was just about finished with a customer. Nobody else on line, so I asked her, why did I get charged regular price for the 3rd 12 pack unless the price is just for the first two 12 packs?! She looked at me with a stupid stare, as dumb as any look you get when you ask a child to solve a calculus question. She then turns to the "expert" cashier to confirm my question. Sure enough, I was right, so I asked the cashier to give me a refund. Meanwhile, 2 customers jumped in line while she asked a question she should already have an answer to. Like I mentioned, I've been to this location over a hundred times, I've seen her mug many times, just never had the unfortunate interaction. I don't know what angered her but she said she would give me the refund but I would have to wait in line. So I took the 12 pack and waited for the 2 customers who came after me. Customers beware of this trashy looking lady, she's just there for a paycheck, just don't interact with her! Let me also add that she was not welcoming and mumbled her words. I have visited this one couple times and decide not going anymore because I have noticed the cashiers there may not cheer up Asian customers as they cheer up others. Came here with my mom around 11:00 pm on a Monday night to buy groceries. When we were at the check out, the cashier, i believe her name was Diane, well at least thats what it said on our receipt. Anyways, Diane was probably the rudest cashier. She doubled charged us for the cuties we bought, my mom noticed it and nicely asked her if she doubled charged us and her response with an attitude said "i know! And thats why you see here, i took it off!" I mean, I get it, its almost the end of the day but she didnt have to be rude about it. I couldn't believe she really gave my mom an attitude.
