Wow - Ramen by Ra was phenomenal!!! As soon as you walk in it is so intimate with only 4 seats at the bar. The smell of broth fills the space. The lox breakfast bao was soft, yet crunchy and savory. The ramen was some of my favorite this year. The broths were so rich and complimented the dishes. Noodles were perfectly cooked. I got the steak and soy egg and the steak was so tender and light. So delicious!!

It's pretty impossible to get seats in the restaurant, so I did takeout which also requires ordering ahead. The vegetarian ramen is a decent portion for $11, but was pretty one-note in flavor, and the noodles had a weird, slimy texture. The poppy seeds in the everything seasoning all piled up at the bottom of the cup, which made the last sip of the broth grainy. They refuse to give you a lid (even though they have a stack of them on display), so don't plan to take your food further than the park across the street.

Finally snagged a reservation! Let me tell yall, if you're going to make a reservation, know exactly what you want to eat because it is a timed session and spots go quickly! (Four seats per session) We got the bacon roasted tomato and everything egg ramen. All of the ramen are shoyu based, so they're nice and light for the morning time. This has been one of the coolest, unique dining experiences I've had in a while. Rarely do we get to eat face to face with the chef, and one who's so open to chatting as well. Chef Ra has created something awesome here and I hope every one gets a chance to check her out!

Best ramen I've had so far... My fiancée has been feening to check out this spot. Last month, she managed to grab a reservation and the wait was absolutely worth it. I know, I know... it's "just ramen," but this was a very good one. We both ordered the steak & egg ramen with chili oil, along with a sparkling ginger. The broth was flavorful, the steak was perfectly tender, and the sparkling ginger was well-balanced and refreshing. I'm definitely going back. FYI: Reservations only open twice a month on the 1st and 15th at 9am. There are only 6 seats total, so reservations are capped at 2 people. Prior to completing your reservation, you have to make your food selection and prepay for your meal.

You need to order the items at the time of the reservation so decide before you try to make a reservation on Resy. It's a very small space with 6 seats (1 table and 4 counter seats). It's a warm and casual ambiance. We got the everything egg bao and the bacon egg and cheese bao - they were both delicious but I liked the bacon egg and cheese bao even more. Then we split the bacon egg and cheese ramen and the steak and egg ramen - I also liked both of those and they were quite different.

A yearlong wait for a seat at the table...and an experience that redefined ramen entirely. From Japan to NYC, nothing has come close to this level of precision, depth, and quiet opulence. Every detail felt intentional. Chef Ra curated a moment, not just a meal. Consider me devoted, loyal, and already planning my return. This is how excellence tastes.

gritting my teeth writing this because i really love the concept but it missed the mark for me. we ordered the bacon, egg and cheese ramen & the steak and eggs ramen. TLDR: i don't think i will return with how difficult it was to get the reservation to begin with. glad i gave it a shot! what worked well: -beautiful moody ambiance with an intimate feel -sweet chefs -unique flavorful broth what didn't work well: -ramen wasn't really hot when we ate it -broth ran on the oily side -the ramen egg was overdone and wasn't jammy. also wasn't as flavorful as a typical ramen egg -the steak pieces were incredibly small and honestly unappetizing -hard cut bacon just doesn't texturally work with broth. in concept they should balance each other but in reality they get lost in each other -the host didn't recognize my name for the reservation, even though it's a four person restaurant. meaning he only had to keep track of 2 reservations for this time slot because each of us came with one person. i wasn't lost in the system he was just underprepared. (i call this out because when i said the name under the res he said "are you sure?") -i would've expected there to be more conversation with the chefs since it was so intimate but because the time slot was short and they had to prepare for the next group of customers, it took away from that feel -no proper ventilation; i'm more worried about the chefs for this one since they're always cooking

Absolutely loved it here! The place was so intimate, warm and calm. The smooth jazz playing was a vibe and the service was good. Everything I ate was phonomenal, I wish I could've ordered more (unfortunately you can't because everything is preordered when you make the reservation). I had the steak (no egg) ramen with chili oil and hojicha tea. The chimichurri-shoyu broth was incredible, I'm still thinking about it. I loved the chili oil for added spice. The steak was so tender and delicious, I wish I ordered extra. I will certainly be back for more (with knowledge of where to sit and what to order). I want to try a sparkling tea next time.

Can't get enough. Recently had this again after her move and it still feels like the ramen I know and love. The food is high quality and super flavorful. Top service and makes you feel like family when you sit at the counter. You get transported into a cozy brownstone with a hot bowl of liquid gold. Add to list immediately!

One of those lucky accidents. Easy to walk past if you're not looking for it. The entrance is subtle, almost like a hallway leading you somewhere. But once you're inside, the vibe is genuinely good. Not trying too hard, just comfortable and cool. I had a couple cocktails while I was there. They have a solid bar program and everything I tried landed. Then I got the Spicy Tan Tan and it was exactly what I wanted. The broth was the star. Deep, rich, and had just the right kick without going overboard. I finished every last drop, which honestly says it all. This is the kind of place you go back to. Already thinking about when I'll be back in New York.

This one is located in NYC Manhattan 36th street. It's not very noticeable but has large door with its name on it. Inside is small space with bar counter, table and seats and kitchen at the end with dim lighting with pop music. We made a reservation but looks was it wasn't too busy since it had just opened at 11:45am. We were quickly sat down and looked through the menu with scan code. They offer variety of Japanese and fusion dish like tebasaki chicken wings, buns, rice ball, and few noodle dish like hiyashi chuuka cold noodle, ramen, tsukemen, and mazemen. We ordered few appetizers like chashu rice ball, mushroom buns, and i got spicy tan tan ramen and my partner got the miso ginger ramen. Chashu rice ball came with chashu, sauce, rice wrapped with nori. It's more like a sushi roll than a rice ball but it was ok. The pork was a bit dry and was messy to eat. Although it has omikuji/fortune slip inside that you pull out which is a unexpected fun addition to the dish. I ended up getting daikichi which means great luck. Mushroom buns were fluffy, flavorful and tasty despite vegetarian option. The spicy tan ramen was spicy, creamy and savory. The ramen came with half egg, few slices of chashu, menma, ground pork with spicy miso which you mix together. The broth is combination of rich, spicy and creamy and pretty strong sesame flavor. Noodles are thicker and chewer than what i'm used to. Chashu was nice and tender. menma was ok not very flavorful. Overall a solid ramen but not particularly special. I honestly prefer ichiran better. Service was good and staffs were attentive Overall a good experience but it didn't stand out enough for me to come back. Cool place and maybe nice for dates or if you want to drink as well. Price is definitely on the higher side for ramen. I've had ramen in Japan and my standard is high but i can find similar type of restaurant that is cheaper closer to home in US.

I have a shrimp allergy and politely asked if the shrimp tempura could be substituted. The server immediately said no, without offering any alternative or showing much concern. He said I can remove it myself. I said so let the shrimp inside the bowl for me to remove? WTH. For a restaurant, especially one serving customizable ramen dishes, with a allergy list post on the wall by the counter where I sat at B1, a little flexibility or empathy toward food allergies would go a long way. The interaction felt dismissive and unwelcoming, which made the overall dining experience uncomfortable. Customer service matters just as much as the food, and sadly this visit fell short. The smashed cucumber was good. Spicy dumpling was good. Ramen broth was light, not as rich or flavorful as others. There are so many good ramen places in NYC, this Chinese Ramen place has lot of room to improve.

The regular size ramen was plenty, but don't let that stop you from trying the decadent Mega with all of the toppings. The food came out hot and fast too, so my table of two was in and out in less than 45 minutes easily. The menu is pretty straightforward with few choices that are all delicious - a perfect spot for the quintessential quick bite and a fair price to match. Vibe-wise, this place is a true hole in the wall with steps leading down from street level into a basement. The inside is packed and intimate so I'd come with a small party such as a friend or a date who's into good food. There was no line when I visited on a Sunday at opening time, but it got packed quickly so be prepared to wait on the sidewalk or arrive at noon.
