This place was an interesting one. Found this place off Yelp. It was a Saturday evening and the restaurant was EMPTY. For a weekend, you'd think it was busy. Then I thought should that be a sign...? but we still decided to give them a try. We ordered their onion rings, fries, vegan ramen, and curry plate. The ramen was okay. The noodles were overcooked and mushy. The taste was okay. The items that were fried was decent. Now the curry we ate was weird. It tasted sour. We've eatin many different types of curry; Singaporean, Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc. We have never had that odd taste before with curry. Generally turmeric shouldn't be that way. We're our server know and ask about it (because it may have been spoiled). They didn't give an answer as to why it tasted sour until we asked again. And their answer was "maybe it was t to our liking." It was a strange taste... I don't know if that was their own rendition or used fish sauce or lemon grass or lime but it didn't fit right so we couldn't eat it. I still honestly don't know if the pot of curry was spoiled that we ate. The server (Sarah) did try to correct the issue by offering to replace the meal, and she also offered a small discount. We didn't see much that was suitable for us so we declined the offer. We left the spot and that was the end of that. The place was completely empty. No one was dining in. Our visit to Ramen Matsua was pretty disappointing. The restaurant wasn't busy, yet it took a while for someone to take our order, and even longer for the food to arrive. When the ramen finally came out, the broth wasn't even hot, it felt like it had been sitting out. I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen (#1), but instead of the typical chashu pork, it came with a thick slice of pork. They did offer us a complimentary order of "Japanese French Fries," which was a nice gesture, but they tasted just like Rally's fries which is not what I'd expect. We've had Japanese fries sprinkled with furikake before, so this was a letdown. We ended up leaving after just a few bites. Would not visit again. read more

Great ramen spot that gives decent portions. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen /w 2pc chasu + 0.5 egg. The ramen bowl is the same size as most places but the meat they give you was generous. The broth had great flavor and the noodles were chewy. Everything blended in well together. The restaurant has a nice cutesy decorated interior filled with photographs and anime/japan themed art. I probably need the spot hit about once or twice a week, and though I try other places, here and there, lately it's just been like... You know it's a bad sign when you sit down in the table to the left of you has left most of their food partially consumed. I tried this out because of high ratings. Getting in was very easy. I didn't experience any difficulties with finding parking. The waitress was very quick to take her order however, I feel she might've been the only person working. It took 30 minutes for us to get our appetizer even though there were only two other small parties in the restaurant. Our Ramen came out faster than that, but it still turned 20 minutes. I got the soup was lacking the flavor, the noodles were very soft and squishy, and left a lot to be desired. My order was even put in wrong.I had asked for a spicy order and it was plain. The eggs are not soft at all, they are hard boiled. The pork was also devoid of flavor. As far as the appetizer I got the pan fried gyoza and karaage. The Gyoza overall was pretty good and I did like a lot. The chicken on the other hand, while it was good, the sauce felt like it was thin and watered down. At the beginning of my experience, I had ordered a hot green tea. It took over 40 minutes of waiting for it to finally reach the temperature where I was able to drink it. I'm sure this restaurant is better when it's fully staffed, but overall the quality of the food, the wait time, And the service was severely lacking, not to mention there were several dirty tables. I wouldn't not go back again and I can't in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone. If you're looking for Ramen, please go somewhere else. read more

My oldest didn't even get her pork belly, which I paid extra for as well. She also stated her meal was bland and proceeded to squeeze a lemon and add her own seasoning to try and remedy it. We tried this place for the first time and everything we ordered was really good. I had the tonkotsu ramen and husband tried the spicy beef -- both had great flavor without being too heavy. We shared the chicken, tempura shrimp, and takoyaki, and all of it came out fresh and well-seasoned. The double matcha was a nice surprise at the end. My kids enjoyed everything too, which says a lot because they're usually picky. Overall, a solid spot we'll definitely come back to. read more

I've been to multiple ramen spots and I'd have to say this one is at the bottom of my list. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen. The pork looked uncooked and ended up having pieces of bone in the broth. I've never had bones in any of my ramen. I was eating carefully so I didn't enjoy it really. Flavor wasn't the best either though. I was pretty disappointed. Visited during the week for a date night and had a spectacular time. I had the #4 Shoyu and was amazed at how light and delicate the broth was. Great flavor and all the toppings were wonderful. My wife had the #2 Tonkotsu Ramen and hers was a creamy, light, and flavor packed broth with nice firm noodles and a large portion of chashu pork. Their pork curry rice plate is also another favorite of mine. Packed full of flavor and enough to share with another person.
