Deluxe Ryoma Ramen and Trio Bowl
    Hannah B.

Had friends staying in town and this was down the street from their hotel making it a really easy dinner spot. We had many different ramens and the trio bowl which was slices of fish over rice. Honestly everything was solid. The spicy ramen is pretty spicy with a late kick to it. And the miso broth is spot on, thick and rich. The only thing is it felt like the wait staff was over it. Our waiter seemed annoyed when we asked questions. The place is nice for a family sit down, but the high tops by the door, the bench seating is quite uncomfortable. The food is solid and would return.

Visited Ramen Ryoma for the first time after hearing glowing recommendations, and the experience was a pleasant spin on a classic ramen night out. Kicked things off with the karaage chicken, which really nailed it, crispy, flavorful, and clearly a must-try on the menu. For the main event, I went with the butter corn ramen in a shoyu broth. It was a smooth and warming bowl, though it didn't quite deliver a standout moment compared to some of the other ramen shops I've tried over the years. Service was friendly and moved at a good pace, keeping the vibe relaxed and comfortable, even if nothing particularly memorable stood out. While I have to admit I've had ramen with a bit more wow factor elsewhere, Ramen Ryoma still offers a cozy atmosphere and satisfying flavors that make it a solid spot for a casual meal. I may not have found my new go-to, but it's a nice option for anyone on the hunt for good comfort food and great fried chicken in town.

This has been a staple in Pacific Beach for years. We decided to try some where new and ended up here. The decor is amazing, they even have a male Transformer like statue made of metal(check out the pic!). I ordered the Mayu Tamago Ramen. The roasted garlic was black and made the entire dish taste burnt. It was not edible. My companion ordered the Spicy Ramen and added the roasted garlic and again destroyed the flavor of the dish. We tried the salmon loves lemon roll. It was good but I must say the salmon on top of the roll was paper thin. The best best part of this place is the service! Staff kind and accommodating. Helped us throughout our experience and made all the difference in the world. Five stars for the staff and decor zero for the food.

I would eat here every Sunday for 6 years and I still cannot find a comparable broth or perfect thicker noodle that holds a light to Ryoma's. The spicy miso ramen and garlic edamame live rent free in my mind, especially when I try other ramen spots. Please open one in Philadelphia - I'll run it! Best ramen to date - most comparable to Japan I've had The service is also phenomenal there and feels like a welcoming family. Wonderful place to go with a group of friends or solo!!

Enjoyed all my food here: fire cracker sushi, Deluxe Ryoma Ramen, and Mayu Tamago Ramen. Employee was friendly. The staff greet each customer that enters. Ambiance is comfortable, chill, laid back. Found another favorite spot in PB. Would definitely return.

I never write reviews but this place was amazing! My daughter and I walked up right from the beach and staff was so welcoming. Food was AMAZING. I live 2.5 hours away but will definitely eat here again once in the area. SO FLAVORFUL. You can even SEE the flavor. They even gave my daughter "trainers" for her chopsticks. We've been to many ramen spots, even lived in Japan, and have never seen such thing. 100% recommend! I ordered the spicy ramen with miso broth. The only thing I will say is meat wise they only have pork for the ramen. There is a veggie ramen though if you prefer no meat.

Miso is as advertised... In shop crafted and super delicious!

First off the service was par excellence! Standard Japanese greeting upon entering any reputable ramen shop. I'll say it now... I'm biased towards shoyu ramen and this place delivers. Normally when in town we DoorDash it.... But since we were in PB this time we walked right up. Being from the SGV it's very difficult to find shoyu ramen. Everyone is making tonkotsu. Wife had the miso ramen and I had the shoyu.. Both deluxe style... The chashu was the best we have all had in a long time and the shoyu delivered as always. Same with the miso. As is, this is a must have if you appreciate ramen.

Great food, great service and ambience. looking forward to returning to try the sake bombs and pho!

This is their ramen - not worth the time or the money, especially when served in plastic.

Are any of their broths vegetarian? The vegetable ramen appears to still have the pork-based broth?

Vegetable broth is an option, made from soy milk and miso.

We decided to go elsewhere to eat a full dinner and checked back an hour after that. Unbelievably, we were told for a third time that it would be another 45 minutes. By this point, two entire pages of names after ours were crossed off. When we brought up that we had already been waiting close to three hours, the hostess gave us a side-eye, at which point our frustrations boiled over and we left for a bar. At 10:15 PM, a full four hours after our arrival, they finally called my phone 5 times in a row, clearly just trying to fill empty tables late at night. Unprofessional front of house, zero organization with their waitlist, and terrible communication overall. Save yourself the hassle and head to another neighborhood spot that treats waiting customers with respect.

Our server was phenomenal and really elevated the experience. She gave great recommendations and even let us sample both the Cabernet and Merlot when we couldn't decide on a bottle of wine. We ordered a variety of dishes: * Spicy Edamame: very flavorful, but definitely on the spicy side so be warned if you're sensitive to heat. * Fire Fire Roll: light and fresh fish, but the seared salmon flavor didn't really stand out. * Orange Roll: also light and fresh, but I didn't really pick up the citrus/lemon zest element. A bit underwhelming compared to expectations. * Salmon Belly Nigiri: very fresh and a favorite at the table. * Crab Roll Special: generous portion of fresh crab. * Yuzu Cheesecake: served with three spoons to share. It tasted like a classic cheesecake, pleasant, but I didn't really get a distinct yuzu flavor. The space is cute and conveniently located in a shopping center with plenty of parking. Overall, the atmosphere is laid-back and comfortable. While the rolls themselves are fairly simple and not especially standout, everything tasted fresh and the service was excellent, which made the experience enjoyable.
