This is my parent's favorite place to go! They really enjoy the Seafood Crispy Noodles. The portion size is big and can serve two. There are a lot of fish and shrimp (didn't see any other seafood) broccoli and cabbage! I, on the other hand am picky and everything here is fast food in a restaurant. Don't get me wrong, the food is good and served hot, the portions are big, and the service is quick. I ordered the Seafood Fried Udon and it was too oily for me. The vegetables weren't as good as the Seafood Crispy Noodles. Just a lot of cabbage, bean sprouts and onions. I think I will stick to the ramen. If you're a small eater, they charge for take out containers (be prepared and bring your own!). We always have leftovers. The restaurant is A/C and comfortable. The tan tan ramen was super flavorful, though I felt it could have been a little spicier. The black garlic ramen was super rich, salty, savory and everything you'd want from a black garlic ramen. The meat in both was cooked perfectly and nicely salted. Our eggs were hard boiled though, not soft boiled like we've typically gotten but I actually liked the egg hard boiled, so no complaints there for me. Lots of toppings (most got covered by the broth) but the bowl was full and we had to take some out to get the broth in there. They definitely don't skimp you on portions, even for takeout. She was nice and sweet moving as fast as she could. So the meat in the ramen was kind of tough. This is my first time here. We both ordered a combo meal which is mini ramen with two thick pieces of pork. Most places give a very paper thin slice....one. And the soup was a meaty (pork?) broth, temperature just right to warm your insides. Gyoza was an addition to ramen and ordered the beef curry as part of the combo. However, the gyoza complimented the ramen with a vinegary side sauce...smack your lips with that one! I can see why they have so many awards. The beef curry has good amount of meat and one carrot...celery melted down, but flavor is robust and had a kick. I stopped going to one ramen place because quality dropped and mistreated their customers. These guys are good and advertise a 10% off. The staff is a bit stoic...take the order...get food out (fast service). But they aren't rude. They charge $.30 for take out containers. I found out that some of these ramen places are run by Chinese. Their price for Combo was $12 each + 10% off with coupon from newspaper. They require masks and provide hand sanitizers. Our first trip to Ramen-Ya was pre-Covid. Today, we sat down and had Ramen with them again and enjoyed it just as much. To sum it up, I'd say: it's delicious, their portions are generous, and their service is fantastic. Today we ordered Ramen and Gyoza. My husband had the spicy seafood ramen and enjoyed it immensely. He said he would probably order it with bamboo and some kind of greens to make it more hearty next time, but it was overall delicious. We ordered a shoyu ramen, two Combo A with fried rice (which comes with 4 pc gyoza and a small ramen), A Chicken Katsu Curry, A side order of Chicken Katsu, and a side order of fried oysters. Mmmm.... Tummy growl. It took only ten minutes to come out. I was so happy and excited. The cost came out to $70 with tax. Not bad for the large amount of food in each portion as well as the quick service. When I looked around at the counter everything was sparkling clean and organized. A total must for me because what you see is what you get. Everyone was masked up and in good spirits. All the patrons looked really happy and content. But the smells!!! It was so fabulous. They boxed everything up nicely and double checked the tape to make sure my dinner was secured perfectly, before helping me to the door. ( I didn't catch the servers names but the woman who helped me to the door was very personable and kind). I appreciated their diligence because I'm a bit of a clutz (and I was so hungry at this point because of the yummy aromas). I could almost see her smile from behind her face mask so the happy vibe made me feel welcome and want to return. After eating I am more pleased to tell you all that it was great. As far as ramen goes it wasn't too salty or rubbery. It was just right. The sides were cooked very well and the Katsu was golden and done right. Their portions are quite large so you can share some items with others such as their fried rice and katsu plates. Their broth is made with pork. If you don't eat pork be sure to request a non-pork broth. They have chicken ramen, veggie ramen, and tan tan ramen. They also have a new ramen broth with spicy seafood. Some items are a bit pricey like if you want to add on a fried rice to a chicken katsu plate instead of regular rice. The staff are friendly and the service is fast. I like their hot green tea. Not good! We got a finger in our ramen from the server who was holding the bowl on the way to the table. Tried to ask for extra sauce and the server just walked away, no eye contact, and didn't even come back to the table to check on us and the kimchi rice tasted like it was made of nothing, no taste at all. As my favorite food is ramen, i have high standards if for the ramen shops I visit. This one was definitely average at best. It's just little things that make it not stand out. The broth they used was good, however I felt it was lacking flavor and you could not choose your tare. As for the toppings, my chashu had more chew than I liked unlike other ramen shops that have more tender meat. The noodles had a good bite to them, they didn't feel like instant ramen noodles. As for service, we were standing by the counter for a good ten minutes and they could clearly see we were waiting, but didn't greet or pay attention to us until one of us waved our hands at them and finally got us a seat. This was also the same when we got our seat, had to get their attention or else we would have been ignored. Not my favorite curry place and the ramen is okay. You'll find this Ramen Ya location at the Ewa on of the mall. It's right next to a dry cleaning joint. This place can get busy at times and it's pretty loud. One of the more popular dishes is the Katsu Curry and TanTan ramen. I've try tried both and often times it's always different tasting. The Katsu is so hit or miss. I had it once where the Katsu was fried really crispy and sometimes it would come out soggy. Not sure why. The ramen is also a hit or miss. I would get it hot (temperature) and sometimes it's barely hot. Gyoza seems to be the staple here. If you're able to make it before 5 or 6pm, you get free Gyoza with your order. This is not the fried gyoza though. One great thing I like is that there is a lot of parking and the food comes out fairly quick. It still doesn't outweigh the quality of the food. If you want better curry, go to CoCo Ichiban Curry house. If you want better ramen, even though it's a tad more expensive, I'd recommend Manichi Ramen. They also have better Gyoza too.
