Service was ok. Well ordered Gau Gee Mein and Won Ton Mein in soup. My wife and I agreed that we had better. The soup was lacking flavor. The Won Ton and Gau Gee was good. Noodles a little gummy. Interior was spacious and the tables were larger than most places. Located in the Salt Lake Shopping center. Very convenient for the community. Enjoy

After we had our hair done it was close to lunch time so I decided to go next door and have Chinese food. I ordered soft wonton mein and my husband ordered soft gau gee mein. It was ok. The dish came out hot. I had 5 won tons and my husband had 4 gau gee. Lol.. I have eaten other places where the soup and noodles were better. But It was right next door and besides we had 1 more stop to go before we go home. Oh well at least we came here again after along time of not going ever there ever since we moved from salt lake area.

We had a family dinner here on a Sunday night. I've never been here before and my uncle suggested it. We got here around 5pm and it wasn't too busy. We got sat right away. The prices are on par with most of the Chinese restaurants on the island. The food was good and authentic. The workers spoke Chinese. We ordered entrees to share. My son ordered the oxtail soup $24.95 for himself. Everyone else shared the seafood tofu fish maw soup $19.95. We got the scallops with mixed veggies $22.95, salted fish and chicken fried rice $16.95, general tso chicken $15.95, pepper salt shrimp $17.95, fish fillet steamed with ginger onion $17.95 and stuffed duck $18.95. While the food was good, no dish really stood out. The fried rice had wok hei and the pepper salt shrimp had great flavor. I mostly ate that. It's not my first choice for Chinese restaurants, but it does the job for the Salt Lake area.

Mu shu pork... so happy as these are not available at all Chinese restaurants.

Sunday night dinner with fam. Surprisingly, they could accommodate our group of 9 (during Chinese New Year weekend) and reserved a whole duck for us too. Lots of parking and restaurant was not packed at 6:30pm. Food came out timely and we enjoyed all the dishes. Staff was attentive and even packed our leftovers. Good neighborhood Chinese Restaurant... would come back.

Stopped by Salt Lake Chinese Restaurant. Saw they served a limited dim sum menu every day and wanted to check it out. We were greeted immediately and seated. We were given ice water and hot tea while looking at the menu. We ordered the siu mai which would take 20 minutes so we also ordered gon lo mein, walnut shrimp and capital pork chops to tide us over while the siu mai was steamed. It was pretty empty in the restaurant since it was only around 10:30am, but the place had preset plates with napkins and forks on every table indicating it probably gets pretty busy. As neighborhood Chinese restaurant, it has quite a few military family customers as mil. housing is just across Salt Lake Blvd. We asked for chopsticks. All the dishes came out fairly quick and were all delicious. The Shrimp was plump and not overcooked, the pork chops were flavorful and extra crispy, and the noodles were also flavored well, although we prefer thinner egg noodles (mein) than what they serve. The noodles had both a good portion of char siu and chicken along with vegetables. We were hungry and got full on these dishes so by the time the siu mai arrived steaming hot, we decided to home after sampling one of the 6 pieces in the order. It was a fairly large piece so we split it in half to cool it off. It was juicy and the filling was fairly bouncy with some large pieces of pork. It was hard to get the full flavor because it was so hot, but we later tried it at home and it was good but a bit too salty for our taste. Overall, we loved it there and will definitely go back.

Close but not close enough. On the hunt for an old school neighborhood chop suey house eats. This place has been around for decades and more importantly when you place a phone order, the lady with the strong accent keeps saying "and then, and then, and then", IYKYK, this might be a winner. Comparing apples with apples, the "dinner plate": -- Kau yuk - Glistening, bright red. Made from pork belly with the right amount of fat. Nam yue (fermented bean curd) used. Good star anise flavor. Old school for sure. -- Sweet sour spare ribs - Meaty. Just sweet. Could use more vinegar for balance. -- House fried rice - Very oily but well seasoned and has wok hei. Lemon chicken - Pass. Chunks of chicken coated in a heavy batter, deep fried, tossed in a very sour, artificial tasting lemon sauce. At least it's highlighter yellow. Mu shu pork - Surprisingly good. Big chunks of tender, Chinese wine marinated pork, mushrooms, cabbage stir fried with good wok hei. Roll your own with the provided hoisin sauce in house made wrappers. Good eats. Inexpensive. Dishes average $15. Three percent service fee for all credit cards. Debit cards not accepted. Everything you expect from the old time neighborhood spot except missing the mark on flavor for the most standard of items.

Ordered asking for no shrimp.. tried to eat noodles anyway but they were not good.

Worst chow mein I've ever had. Noodles blah. Plus they put shrimp in when I ordered without. Awesome, now the shrimpy flavor is stir fried with everything else. I should known when I saw the red flag: forks on the tables with no chopsticks in sight.

Today I got to try their Eggplant Tofu plate and it really was good. I used to like the Sweet & Sour Spareribs, but today I wanted to try something more healthy and it turned out that this Eggplant Tofu also seem to use the Sweet & Sour sauce, but much better. Also, the service was friendly and helpful.

Broccoli beef with Hong Kong noodles and spring rolls with duck, except it had no duck in them.

Some of our favorite dishes.. beef chow fun, eggplant long beans, shrimp crackers appetizer, pork cheeks appetizer, sizzling beef black bean platter, all of the curries and rice, shrimp dishes.... So many favorites! We have so many favorites it's hard to try new things here. We recently tried the honey walnut shrimp and it was good big shrimps fried perfectly with honey sauce and it's on top of potato chips so you get a little bonus of honey chips too! That was definitely a nice surprise and something different from any other restaurant. Service here is always great! We ordered and not even 5 minutes later our food was already coming out. As it turns out, the restaurant was full on a week day for dinner so it was good to have a reservation. We ordered six items and started with the salted egg yolk chicken wings. Incredible flavor, crispy outside and juicy inside. This appetizer was so delicious! Next came the green beans and the sweet sour pork. My goodness, talk about perfect green beans, this was still crisp and not over cooked. Nicely seasoned and not too oily...I could eat that everyday! If you enjoy Honey Walnut Shrimp, they do an excellent job here. I like that it didn't have an abundance of mayonnaise. In fact, our batch had an added bonus for a nice crunch effect....kettle potato chips, whole and not crumbs. Might even have been the Maui Onion flavor, not sure but it was good! Last but not least, our family dinner enjoyed the House rice noodles and steamed fish. The thin rice noodles had generous portion of shrimp, beef, and vegetables. Quite hearty, here's to long life :) Easy to find, lots of free parking, not in Chinatown, and BYOB. What's not to like?

The pork is incredibly crispy and the sauce is light, tangy, and always hits the spot. It pairs perfectly with either a noodle dish or just a bowl of rice. I also love their Spicy Seafood Noodles. Tonight's portion was extra huge, and I still managed to finish it! The broth looks fiery, but it's actually light with lots of seafood flavor and subtle peppery notes. The first thing I saw when I walked in was the owner making dumplings by hand. That immediately gave me the feeling I was in the right place. Growing up I watched my own Mom make our version of dumplings, so seeing that kind of care and craftsmanship felt familiar. The owner was warm and very welcoming, and as each dish was completed she brought it out fresh from the kitchen, which gave me a chance to taste the food while it was still steaming. It was hot, but I could not stop myself from sampling it :) Everything I ordered was delicious and clearly made fresh. I'll be honest though, watching the dumplings being prepared right in front of me was a real highlight. I'm sure that some of you out there can relate to this. I also had the chance to meet owner's mother and another gentleman who I believe may have been family, which added to the welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is small, but it did not feel rushed. We had a good time talking story while the food was being prepared. It was a challenge for me to drive home with all that food in the back of my car. I was tempted to pull over and just indulge, but I remembered that I had to share it lol My summary? Good food, genuine hospitality, and a great first impression. I will definitely be back.
