This place has the best bloody Mary bar (wall) in town, possibly on earth (so says my sister, who frequents this place often). Their fish tacos are also great. Today we came for brunch. Our table had the Blue Beni (eggs benedict on a mini waffle with chipotle pulled pork and hollandaise sauce, served with home fries) which was a little bit sweet, a little bit savory, and "a lotta delicious"; the mini Belgian waffles (typical, served with fresh strawberries and whipped cream, mixed the berry compote), and Captain Crunch French Toast with a marshmallow cream cheese and raspberry sauce, which was a tad over toasted, but sweet and tasty. And of course, a Bloody Mary. The favored items were the Blue Beni and the Bloody Mary. Our server, Jordan, was incredibly friendly and attentive, topping off a very pleasant visit. The prices, in comparison to other local establishments, are very reasonable. They also offer a small locals discount, which is very nice. read more

Nestled off the beaten path on the corner Petronia Ave is this gem inside Bahama Village. It's tropical, bright, and it is interesting to look at w/it's neat paintings, airplane propeller air fan, wide wooden bar top area. Once you get past the tropical plants that fence in the area there is a main seating area, large bar area, and an upstairs outdoor area (no covering). This place was always busy. We sat at the bar both times we went. The service was friendly and quick. This is another one of the places the locals go to. In fact I ran into my tour guide from earlier in the day who was doing happy hour here! He was there w/a worker from another local museum. If the locals are here you know it's a good place! We ordered the happy hour warm spinach lobster dip, and it was incredible. It is the best spinach lobster dip I can remember having in a long time. We went here twice because I wanted it again before we left, but they only serve it during happy hour. Both times I ordered the ahi tuna tartare which had an incredible marinade on it w/perfectly crunchy chips. The salmon and bagel was a generous portion and also delicious. Overall I highly recommend coming here during happy hour. The prices are a little pricey during the regular hours which is why I only gave it 4 stars. Their happy hour has spinach lobster dip & ahi tuna tartare (same portion in happy hour and regular hours), drunken shells, and guacamole on it?!? I think this is the best food happy hour specials I've ever seen!?!? Next time I'm in Key West I will definitely do at least one happy hour here. read more

RATS IN THE KITCHEN and FOOD POISONING and NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AFTER LEAVING A MESSAGE ON 7/7/17 ...A WEEK LATER AND COUNTING... STILL NO RESPONSE FROM THE BLUE MACAW !!! I went to this restaurant with my wife during our weeklong honeymoon in Key West, Florida. We both saw this place earlier in the day and it looked nice so we went ahead and checked the reviews. All seemed good so we went. While we were sitting in the outdoor patio near the bar eating, I noticed a black critter run from behind the bar into the kitchen. I told my wife and wanted to leave, but did not want to upset her so I stayed silent until our waiter ROBBIE came over and asked how things were. I asked him if they had a RODENT PROBLEM and he smiled and shrugged his shoulders and said "Well, its Key West... " !!! I'm thinking like WTF do you mean it's Key West ??? It's not CUBA !!! We have health department standards here !!! SO THEY KNOW ABOUT THE RATS and DIDN'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT ME AND MY WIFE GETTING FOOD POISONING AT THEIR RESTAURANT !!! Anyhow, it cost us $82 for the bad food, $187 for another night at hotel, $50 for Gatorade, PediaLite and crackers and $35 for fishing licenses we couldn't use the next day and we lost sleep by throwing up more than 10 times over the next 24 hrs and the diarrhea !!! Just wished someone from this business would acknowledge our problem and help with all we've been through but they don't care !!! I did contact the health department prior to posting this review and hopefully they will inspect and prevent others from getting ill. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE !!! STICK WITH A&B LOBSTER HOUSE OR BENIHANA'S as they have a better run business than the small local dive places in The Keys ! read more

Great atmosphere here, The wait wasn't bad compared to Blue Heaven (which wasn't worth it all). I wish we would have just stayed here for brunch. They have a cool Bloody Mary Bar where you can add all the toppings you want. The live music was a plus too. We were looking for a place off of Duval and the craziness and stumbled on the Blue Macaw. Super cool place and our soon to be favorite Bloody Mary spot on the island. We went by for lunch and had some apps which were really tasty but tried the Bloody Mary Bar. They give you a glass with ice and generous pour of vodka and send you over to the Bloody Mary Bar. I was able to put bacon, pickles and other good stuff. Really tasty! Also a really cool atmosphere outside. Lots of fans to keep air moving and a guy playing guitar made for a really chilled out vibe which is exactly what we were looking for. The place was pretty packed but we still found 4 seats at the bar. We enjoyed it so much it was our last stop before heading to the airport and hit the Bloody Mary Bar one last time. read more

Friendly bartenders. If you want to make your own Bloody Mary, there's a Bloody Mary bar where there's over 100 various hot sauces and a bar length tray of garnishes. I had mine whipped up by the bartender. I mean, I'm on vacation, why would I have wanted to do anything like make my own drink, lol. I was in pure lazy mode! Lol. It was seriously one of the best Bloody Mary's I've had anywhere, and packed a nice punch of heat! They were so amazing, I went back a few different days, just for liquid lunch! I don't always write 5 star reviews, but when I do, it's cause its worth it! This is my first time being to this place and I know for sure that I would be back. ATMOSPHERE: This is a very cool and laid back restaurant. Its a block away from Duval Street but its so cool! They have a nice outdoor area on their first floor with a bar and a live band. They also have a second floor which I believe is a rooftop type place. The band is like a blues-type band but plays a variety of songs that you can listen to but it won't overpower your conversation. DRINKS: Now, this is THE place for happy hour! They have $3 well drinks, wine, and beer! Our server was Megan, and she was amazing! Since most of their well drinks are your basic whiskey ginger ale or vodka soda, she recommended the happy hour version of a Bahama Mama which they called Tutti Frutti. Its basically rum, orange juice and grenadine, but it tasted really good and pretty strong! Good thing about Key West is that you can drink on the street so we were able to order a drink before we left to take with us. FOOD: Now not only do they have an amazing happy hour drink special, they also have a really great food specials. Most of the stuff on their small bites menu is 50% off. Everyone at my table ordered something different and nothing was over $7. The best dish I had was the drunken clams, the bruschetta and the guava bbq ribs. Those were $7, $5, and $7 respectively. The amount of food they served for the price was really great and you didn't even have to get a full meal to get full. OVERALL: If you're in Key West, this is the place to go to have some great drinks and some really great food all for a really affordable price! One of the go-to happy hours in Key West, with a big time range 4pm - 9pm. The drinks are small but pretty strong, and pretty tasty. There's a good list of 1/2 price appetizers too. We went around 5pm on a weekend, and there was a great local singer playing live music in the outdoor bar area. Overall the vibe is lively and fun, with lots of people but not too many. Would definitely come back here with a group around the sunset to enjoy the keys. read more

Ribs, tuna, nachos, shrimp and a few other things. The tuna is good, but it they served it with wasabi it would be amazing. The ribs were kind of skimpy for the price. I ordered a salad dressing on the side dressing was on it. It's not today and the restaurant has poor circulation outside. It's stifling. Waitress was very friendly.
