I love this place! I'm a member of their wine club (Join, you won't be sorry) and come here often for dine in and take out, it's always spot on and the service is outstanding. As a manager of a local restaurant myself, my standards can sometimes be a little high and I've never left disappointed. Special shout out to Janae and Zach, they've both taken such great care of me. As for the food...I dream of the fried artichoke with that freakin delicious lemon garlic aioli that I would literally poor all of everything and the Burrata Caprese, with that beautiful fluffy pillow of Burrata cheese. Coming from out of town and in the wine industry I would highly recommend this place. Janae was our server and she was so delightful. Knowledgeable and patient with my wine selection needs. Aka being accommodating with tastings to help me pair with my food. We went for happy hour which wasn't just a dollar off. It was a significant amount off that it was worth it. Ordered the artichoke dip (rich and creamy but not overwhelmingly heavy), fig bruschetta (little too much arugula but easy to pick off) and the coconut shrimp (made with lots of large chunks of coconut). Everything was SO good! I got a glass of the Solana and the Riesling (not a sweet wine person but this was dryer and went well with the food options). My friend got the Balboa Rose and he really loved it. Wasn't too sweet but a good All Day Rose type. The ambiance was simple and classy. The seating was comfortable (my friend who's a bigger guy loved the chairs) and the decorations wasn't in your face trendy but what you'd see inside a tasting room. Very very happy with our whole experience. Debating becoming a member because you get a free glass daily and two wine bottles per month for an affordable price. My wife and I came to San Clemente to do a little shopping and relaxing. We decided to eat at Rancho Capistrano Winery since we were on the little shopping strip in the area. She got the daily Shrimp Ceviche special with a glass of the Monarch White Blend while I got the mushroom truffle flatbread and a wine tasting. Everything was super delicious and my flatbread surprised me with how good it was. The biggest surprise of the day was the Port wine. It was the first time that my wife and I had tried a port and we are now lovers of ports even though we typically stick to the dryer side of wines. We also had a wonderful server named Paige. She told us that she recently just started serving, but to us she was great and made our experience even more memorable. You have not experienced a better environment than they offer at the Capistrano wine club on Del Mar Avenue in San Clemente. I have not in my 77 years experienced a better venue in our town! They always have the kindest and most friendly servers and support staff, no matter what day you go there. Zach and .Janea lead a teammate of the most Service-oriented food-service team in San Clemente. Paige, Ava, Meryl, Little Zach, Rachel, Meryl, Livia, Kaeli, Emily, Izzie and Santiago all make this the best Wine Club in the area. The food is the best, better than most 5-Star restaurants, the wine selection is massive and the environment is welcoming and you do not feel rushed, as they create a home-like environment. Very disappointed to have to leave this review. I came in on Sunday the 23rd for a nice meal, and have to admit, I won't be coming back. Food / ambiance is overall nice, but I witnessed the staff mistreat customers on what appeared the be the basis of their background and I was appalled. I heard the hostess tell a Persian family they were too busy to sit them, and to wait, and turn around and sit 2 more Caucasian groups which walked in after them. When the family asked the host about this, she got defensive, had to get her manager, and the family left. It was pretty obvious what was happening as I heard the manager admit to the family that the host had lied to them about there being a 'waitlist' that the other groups were on. I grew up in San Clemente, and I understand the last few years have been divisive, but I am beyond disappointed to see people act this out to other members of the community. read more

When you hear "winery" you don't expect the food to be as good as it is. However, from flatbreads, to fries, to salads, their food is actually really, really delicious. I love their gluten free Gorgonzola Apple Flatbread, it's divine. Definitely rich, but the taste is something that would really give this a "5." I made a reservation for May 14, Mother's Day. I tried to book it a week in advance on May 5 because I know that day would be very busy. I received the confirmation email that my reservation has been accepted. Imagine my surprise when I checked my reservation two days prior and I find out that it has been cancelled.
