My rating is more of 3.5, based off of course maintenance and the ease of play. Great for beginners which is also the negative here since there are several new players that do not know etiquette of play. Too many times we see 2 and ever 3 players sharing a bag. It's only a par 3 so there's no marshal. But that said majority of the time you'll be fine. It can get backed up a little. The greens and fairways can be much better. There obvous visual work that shouldn't be hard to fix, but i'ts never done. For that I rate the 3. Signs and yardages are missing but it's easy to figure out where to go . They just replaced the matts which is nice but what's great is the tree coverage to help from mishit balls and rarely hearing "FORE". The ease to play straight fairways and no slopes makes it a great place to learn. A little upkeep and enforce the rules would make it 4+ stars. Parking is easy, nice chipping and putting area to practice. read more

A cute par 3, just perfect, not too short or lengthy in distance for the holes. The scenery was nice although parted by a chainlink fence on one side we were able to be distracted by the city and cars. However, the rest had manicured views of the greens. Nestled in the heart of west la, this par 3 is worth going to and cheap compared to other par 3's. Perfectly curated greens surrounded by huge trees, some acted as shading. This review is specifically for footgolf - I had seen the signs for footgolf and decided to give it a try. We went on a Saturday afternoon around 5, so it was crowded as we hit a wave of people golfing. Footgolf is essentially golf but with a soccer ball and you kick the ball. The holes are much bigger as well. The only thing that is somewhat difficult is that the course runs parallel to the 9hole golf course, so you have to wait with people golfing and also, if youre not great at soccer you might be kicking the ball all over the course and need to watch out for golfers etc. It was fun for sure, but I would recommend trying to go on an off time when there aren't a lot of people golfing. Balls cost $5 to rent, so if you have a soccer ball, bring one to save on the cost. read more

Absolutely horrendous experience start to finish! I made a reservation for my boyfriend's birthday cuz it's favorite thing in the world. They took my credit card over the phone to reserve a tee time for the par 3 and the reservation specialist specifically said when I asked if they rent clubs since we don't have ours in town: "yes ma'am we do, we rent per club. No golf carts for par 3 but could rent a hand Cart for $5." I said yes that's perfect reservation and will rent clubs and hand cart there. All excited to treat my boyfriend to a day at the course we show up to be told by the pro shop attendant that club rentals are not happening. He said "nothing I can do for you. I don't care what they told you on reservations. They are wrong. Not doing club rentals." How embarrassing and horrific when you plan someone's birthday. There were not even clubs to purchase. Nothing. And the guy didn't care at all and didn't help. When I tried calling to speak to customer service regarding the misleading information and inaccuracy which ruined his birthday they also said noting we can do- there is ALWAYS something that can be done to make right of a wrong. I've had free rounds at fancy golf courses. This is a cheap public course and the least they could do is make things right. I'm disgusted by how rude they are and how they don't have trained educated Individuals making the reservations. ZERO STARS!!!! You lost a customer for life! read more

Easy-er greens, cheap prices, understanding (mostly) people and a great way to spend a weekend morning. Be warned, I've heard that this is one of the most busy public courses in the country (and I believe it) so if you expect to play in the middle of a beautiful weekend day, thing again. read more

Came on a Saturday afternoon. Average 20-25 mins wait time per tee. Balls from adjacent holes flying everywhere due bottle neck caused groups to pile up between greens. Extremely unsafe and chaotic. Multiple people went up to complain to staff. Staff tells us to go write an email to LA City to solve the problem. All in all, I would recommend to reconsider if you wanna book on weekends read more

What a gem of a course! It's a short 9 hole course that's well shaded with a lot of trees, it's a great course to practice your short game. For a course with as much traffic as it has, it's well maintained and the greens are pretty nice. Warning: the course is always very busy on the weekends. Have patience! The 9-hole course is really good for beginners as it's all par-3, pretty straight, and no water. The other golfers are quite nice as well as most everyone is a beginner or looking for a casual golf game. Note that you'll tee off from mats, so bring a rubber tee if you're looking to use a driver on the turf mat. Fun unique aspect of Rancho Park? On the 9-hole course, there's also "soccer golf". There's a larger hole and flag next to every green where you can kick soccer balls into (the little boy and dad we saw were having a great time!). On a Saturday afternoon at noon, we didn't have any kind of wait, but the staff said it was an anomaly. Even so, you could spend some time at the two-story driving range or diner if a wait was the case. I had to write a new review. 2 years ago I thought this course was great. Now 20+ courses on, it is just about average/ above average. The course is not as well maintained as it used to be. Very pleasant course in West L.A. Though I'm no Tiger Woods, the course is well-maintained and fun to play. Being a Par 3, it doesn't take too much out of your day (unless you simply can't hit the ball, lol). I like the old timey feel you get at the Clubhouse -- or whatever one calls the building you check in at. There's a lovely summer program for kids, too, that is super-reasonable and a perfect intro to the game. NOTE: Entrance is the eastern-most driveway. read more

Rancho Park is a decent par 3 in the Century City area. The prices aren't too bad ($7.50 weekend) and the course is in decent shape. Most holes are 85-95 yards and straight. The greens are a little on the small side. Some of the greens break a lot more than others and patrons do not do a good job of fixing ball marks. I wish more holes were like #9 with a 110-120 yard shot into a multi-tiered green that slopes in all directions. The starter on weekends does a terrible job of spreading groups out. When I went a few weeks ago, the course was packed. The second that the group got off the putting green on #1, he would let the next group start. The result? 3 to 4 groups waiting on hole #2. If you're willing to travel, Van Nuys (18-hole par 3 and 9-hole executive) if a much better bang for your buck. read more

I usually don't play 3 pars. But my friends talked me into it. And I have a blast. They even had a lady in a golf cart taking "drink" orders. After a couple drinks i always play better. I would suggest this place just to fonts for s day of fun. read more

It's hard to knock Rancho Park's 3-par course. It gets crowded on the weekends, but name a patch of grass in mid-city that doesn't? And if you can get here during the week (even after 5), you'll have a wide-open course that you can play for 5 bucks. At those times you have no problem playing multiple balls per hole, great practice! If you feel like playing with someone, just hang out on the practice green until another single shows up - I've met some really fun characters here. The greens here are often pretty soft, so don't expect your ball to roll much if you get there in regulation. Beware of hitting the ball across the street into the Fox studios on the 5th hole (or even worse, into rush hour traffic on Pico - lots of German cars out there!). If you hook onto the 18-hole course on the 8th hole, there is a gate you can walk through to pick up your ball. Wouldn't want those *real* golfers to get it! read more

I agree with Daniel S....how many things are cheap on the West Side? lol The great thing about Rancho Park is that you can walk right onto the 3par pretty much without a reservation...it seems as though most of the golf courses in SoCal require a permit/reservation to get a Tee Time. That just sucks for the last minute planner. Not the greatest course but it's good enough being that it's a little 3-par! You don't have to overdress to get on the course and the cool thing is that if you happen to be a single lady...you'll most likely come across throngs of single men hittin' a few balls!! My neighborhood spot. Learned golf here as a young adult. It's the best par 3 in the west LA area. They keep it pretty well maintained. Yes you will hit off mats , but that's the case at most par 3s. Greens are usually in good condition. Can get crowded at times , but what doesn't in LA. A few somewhat challenging longer holes here but nothing like penmar. Overall this is a great spot to practice your short game. Price is around 10$. read more

A perfect pitch-and-putt course for those who don't take the game as seriously as WMD's. I usually hit around a 50-80 over par but the great thing is that I can get away with it at Little Rancho. My friend and I took a lesson or two when we were like seven, but since then we've been hitting it far from the pin every time. In the million + times that I've played here with my rancho buddies, I've never won but I've hit cars, trees, squirrels, and one time even reached my ball to the ther side of the fence in Big Rancho territory. This is not a course for golfers. If you're willing to put up with children kicking soccer balls around and golf balls flying towards your head because the layout is poorly spaced, then you should go here. Otherwise, probably not. My roommate and I went for 9 holes and had to deal with a 6-some in front of us. Yup, that's right, a 6-some. The guy at the "pro shop"... okay maybe pro "shack" is a better term. The guy at the pro shack REFUSED to let me rent a sand wedge. Then got defensive about me still wanting one because I use a 56 degree in my short game and said, "But I've only been working here for 20 years, what do I know?!" Hmm, not the customer service I was hoping for. As mentioned before, the layout is too compact, there is always someone hitting a ball to within 20 yards of you, and the holes are all unimaginative, short, and straight. I recently played a 9-hole course up in Griffith park that also costs 8$. The kicker: it has par 4's and 5's. Oh and it doesn't suck. AND, you can hit off actual grass instead of shitty driving range mats. So even for this bargain basement price, the course is still NOT worth it. ALSO, some lady posted a picture of her and her friends golfing in front of beautiful scenic mountains--that is NOT a photo from this course. read more

Prices on holidays/weekends are $8 LA resident $11 non-resident Still fairly reasonable. The holes are very narrow, which add to challenge factor of this course, which I thought was nice change from the wider holes at Sinaloa. I did think it was a little strange that you hit off mats. The mats are pretty good, but I feel that this makes it easier than trying to hit off of grass. Lastly, I think they need a map because it was confusing to find the next hole. Even thought I enjoy Sinaloa more, I will still come to Rancho Park when I'm in LA. read more

The price is now $6 - still a great deal. If needed, you can rent a club from them for 25 cents. You also need to leave collateral such as car keys. I guess the clubs are really important to them! I have never used irons from them, but had to rent a putter once. It was quite old and sad. The course is never crowded. When it is busier, I have found that the pace of play is never too rushed or too slow. Seems like everyone's skill levels somehow even out. read more

Average E-Z golf course. Hit off threadbare mats to narrow fairways and tiny greens. Longest is about 140yds, definitely got to use the 7. Not nearly as crowded as the full course but be prepared to wait. Doesn't stack up well against some of the other short tracks in the area but is a decent value at $7 and has the benefit of good location. If you're in the area it's fine to play, but nothing great. This place looks like Pebble Beach compared to Los Feliz, though. read more

Costs between $7 and $8 for the 9 (with a replay of around $3.50). Starters are relaxed and friendly while keeping things moving. Putting greens for practice near the first tee usually don't have much in the way of a crowd. At the price, it's a great, great deal. The holes range between 80 and 140 yards, with range mats for tee boxes. (Makes sense given the regular traffic.) The greens are in surprisingly good condition (sure, they're marked up, but still roll fairly true and are much better than greens for many public courses out there) though not great by any stretch of the imagination. And they're all one type of grass -- no invasive secondary type taking over parts of greens. There's always a few good pin placements, and it's great opportunity to hack around with some friends and to work on your wedge game in a semi-real environment. In the end, if you have any complaints after paying seven bucks, you've either chosen to play at a really busy time (behind some super slow groups) or you need to take a deep breath and relax a bit. Great Course for any level of players but beginners will enjoy it more since the holes are not that long. Man behind the counter is professional and advises you on how many clubs you really need to play at this course (7 Iron, a wedge and putter is all you need). I think the longest hole is 150yards. Price is $9 per person for first round and for 2nd round I believe is only $3 or $4 per person. It's a fun course to learn Golf and also spend a nice afternoon on weekend. You can play at your pace if there's no one behind, entire 9 holes can be finished in about 90 minutes. read more

They kick the ball into your fairway and run after them without even looking. I hope one of them gets drilled with a golf ball. It's impossible to play when screaming kids are running all over. Great for beginners. Well maintained course. Only $1 more expensive than the Los Feliz 9-hole, but it makes all the difference. No dirtbags here either. Course seemed a bit longer than the Los Feliz one as well. The only problems were the old asian women who drove 7-8 balls each and then practiced their short game while we waited. Thanks. What's not to love. With the backdrop of fox studios this is the perfect Quintessential LA good course. You can knock out a round in about an hour and half and go back to the office with none the wiser. A perfect quick play to keep your game sharp during the week. Been playing here on and off since 1973. Excellent pitch and put course in midst of beautiful surroundings. Price is right, and it's a great place to work on your short game. Now with Coronavirus crisis, it's reservation only, which makes playing much more pleasant, as you don't have to worry about long waits by just showing up. Requirement to wear masks is just fine, and you don't know it's even there after a while. This place is a great bargain and value in the midst of an upscale area. read more

This pitch n put is where I started playing the game a year ago and I still return twice a month to work on my short game. If you go during the week, before the lunch rush, you can play a fast game (or even two balls) without much of a wait. At times there will be some older folks or young kids that can slow up play or make you duck for cover, so having a little patience is helpful. They have a good practice green, a chipping area with a practice bunker for those days when there are crowds or when you are short on cash. i love this par 3 golf course. it has 3 holes that are about 140 yds each. its a pretty challenging course, and a good place to practice your short game. the only thing i really hate is that there are a lot of new golfers playing here and are sooooo slow so on a weekend, it can take up to 3 hours to play on this small par 3. other than that, i actually enjoy playing here to practice my short game. read more
