Priced outa sight, food order wrong, cold, and salsa tasteless. 12 years of good food, NOW sucks badly.

Jesus, I should have gotten a tuna melt at Subway. Probably some of the worst Mexican food we have ever had. Waitress was nice and was trying her best, but the food quality vs price was ridiculous. Some of these entrees were like $16-18 for really mediocre ass food. My Pollo rancho was slimy and not very presentable. Just a mass of veggies and a metric shit ton of cheese melted over the top of a few thin slices of chicken. The whole thing tasted like a microwave meal. My friend's burrito was $15 for mostly iceberg lettuce and rice. The waitress even had them put on extra avocado so the normal portion must be the size of a bee's dick. Other friend's Quesadilla looked nice presentation wise, but I took one bite and tossed it back on the plate. Rubbery cheese, and the chicken tasted like it was pre cooked and crisped up a little bit. A thin layer of grease coating the outside... Mmm.. I have no doubt a large amount of this stuff was probably frozen and/or microwaved. Maybe the $18 stuff is better but I'd be hard pressed to spring for that when the "specials" were anything but. Chips and salsa were alright but that's pretty difficult to mess up. Booths were decent too but overall it felt a little dingy. Big ass fake cactus in the window wasn't exactly screaming quality. The credit card holder leather booklets were ripped where the card goes in so it was all floppy. With an old, greasy, brown sticker on the inside that said "like us on Facebook". God, the irony. The smell of the atmosphere was akin to toilet chemicals. The fat shit i took in the bathroom afterwards was a better experience than the dining and food itself. read more

While mushroom hunting today we were running a little late to get back to Camp to cook dinner so we decided to go to Rancho Viejo and so glad that we did. My husband had the Macho burrito and said it was Macho good. I had a chicken fajita salad that was beyond excellent. My husband also had a great local IPA on tap. Our waiter Caesar, did an excellent job of getting us drinks and food quickly even though he was completely slammed with a big party on the patio. He had a great attitude provided excellent service and was really friendly. Would definitely come back again and maybe even on this trip. Parking is nice right on the street. read more

Our go-to place for Mexican. Always just right in flavor and quantity. We usually arrive for dinner to catch happy hour. Margaritas are a must here with several choices of just how you like it. Still my favorite is the "house" on the rocks with salt. If I'm in the mood for a lighter dinner, check out the dos tacos on the appetizer menu. The shredded beef is flavorful and plentiful. Other choices include carnitas and chicken. When really hungry, I'll have one of their burritos. Always a good meal and always a good time! Enjoy. read more

The food is really bad, we've been to this restaurant more than five times in the course of 3 years and each and every time we are very disappointed. Me and my family were there 2 weekends ago and each family sat at a different table ( 2 adults 1 kid, 2 adults 1 kid, and 2 adults 3 kids) it wasn't many of us as you can see! The waiter forced a tip of $20 per table, a total of $60 just in tips. The restaurant was not busy at all. AMAZING!!! My wife and daughter had chicken enchiladas which were awesome. I had the Mexican Burrito which was the best tasting burrito I have had at any Mexican restaurant hands down. The flavor was out of this world. The hot salsa according to my wife and I had the best flavor and was the right amount of spice period! Some clients of mine suggested this place, so we checked it out while attending the Sisters Folk Festival. We were delighted with the food and the Margaritas. Although it seemed hidden and not easy to find, many people to find it OK because it was nearly filled to capacity. Rancho Viejo has been a family favorite for many years now. Located in the heart of fabulous (and now newly facelifted) downtown Sisters, Rancho Viejo delivers great Mexican food at reasonable prices! When reading through the menu you will see certain items called out such as "a favorite"...I have heeded their recommendations and have never been disappointed. Margaritas are terrific here! I personally like the "Javier's Margarita". Not as sweet as the others and made with fine tequila! Great food and great staff! read more

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in town. Number one for service. The food is great. At first glance they do not have cheapest prices but when you see the plate sizes and taste the food its worth the price. I almost always have leftovers so I get two meals out of my dish. We were pleasantly surprised with our overall experience! The waiter was extremely friendly and welcoming to our family with a 6 month old! All of our entrees were very good. I am a local and am very upset with my service. I have been visiting this restaurant bi-weekly since they opened and have been pleased in the past. Today I placed a to-go order and did not receive chips, when I asked I was told chips are no longer offered for to-go. If I am a customer who takes a table and pays the same price for my food, chips are free. I understand the price increase on my order but I will no longer give my business to this company! read more

Walking by and it looked good. The patio looks new and they accept pets. I had the carne asada plate which was great. Flavor was spot on, no complaints on the meat. The beans were good but should provide more. The toasted jalapeño was mild, not great. Service was good, we had a friendly waitress. And the owner was walking around say hi to everyone. This was our second visit to Rancho Viejo. The first time we mostly enjoyed the food this time the menu had undergone a price rise. It is very spendy for the quality of food. It is a traditional Mexican restaurant which there are many. It's a little bland and unadventurous. But Sisters in general is expensive. read more

This is a pretty average mexican place. They served good chips and salsa immediately upon arrival. I tried the Chicken Fajitas here and it was very average and the quantity was very less for the $13 they charge. I filled myself with the chips they offered. read more

We went in for drinks and appetizers this afternoon. The service was lacking, the chips tasted like they had been fried in motor oil, and we were less than thrilled with the drinks. They did not offer any margaritas "virgin" and didn't want to attempt to make one "virgin" for us. One of the beverages tasted like it had too much alcohol, another tasted like it had no alcohol, but at least they excelled in serving us ice water. The dips (queso, cabbage salsa, guacamole) were decent. It felt as though we were a nuisance for the staff as soon as we walked in the door. We normally go to Los Agaves when in town and looking for Mexican food and will definitely not be straying from them again! Much better food, drinks, and service! read more

I love this family owned restaurant on the Main Street in Sisters. The decor and ambience is cheerful and feels like home spun authentic Mexican. And their margaritas are the best around!! I've had margaritas all up and down the coast and these rank with the best. They do not skip on tequila and make their own mixer. The staff is either family members or close friends. My girlfriend and I ate here last week. The food was pretty bad, and the back patio smelled like maybe their was a raw sewage leak going on under the deck. Every drink we bought had at least two small flies in them. It wasn't good, and stunk and was full of flies. Also the guy sitting next to us kept spouting off his distasteful political views really loudly and saying bad stuff about the staff. I did not have a decent experience at this place at all and would not recomend it to anyone. If you want Mexican food in Sisters just go to the gas station that sells burritos, they are way better and more affordable too. read more

Food is filling and OVERPRICED. I've been there twice so far and the first experience, with a party of 6, we got the red carpet, fast service, and fresh off the grill experience. Excellent! There was even a point of contact to a less than half a glass of beer from the waiter who immediately expressed concern and apologized, then brought out a full, new glass of beer. I thought, wow - the food and service was second to none - I'm coming back again! However, Tonight, a party of two, Our service was "out of sight, out of mind." We were seated in the bar area where we were not checked on after receiving our drink and order was placed. Within 15 minutes, a group of women showed up at the bar, immediately received their drinks, placed to go orders on the spot, and walked out with their food in hand all within 20 minutes. All the while we have yet to be checked on or acknowledged. We had to track someone down, out of the bar, for another drink and to ask about our food. The response we got from our server was that she was servicing 2 bigger parties (one of which was seated after us). Another 10 minutes pass and we had to wave down another person for our food. In total it took 50 minutes for the empanadas appetizer and chimichanga combo to arrive to our table. We didn't receive an apology for the neglect or wait. It was like they swept us under the rug and moved on to their next customer. Both visits were on a Friday night and both times they had a full house, but super busy. From experience and observation, the bigger the party, the more $$ they see, so the better your service will be. It's sad, but true. They (as in the host and server) treat you great when they know there's more potential for tips. But it all changed when we placed our order... they hurried to provide better service for the bigger parties and even emphasized their importance over ours. SMH. read more

Went in for lunch with family. To eat lunch was about an hour because the service was so slow. They weren't busy. Fajitas were burnt. Chips were stale. Would wait 10+ minutes each time we wanted service before I would get up and go ask. Charged us a split plate fee for 18 dollar fajitas! Way over priced!! Charged us 9.00 for 2 sides of rice. Will not be returning here. Way over priced, slow service, and not very good food. Also... now both adults who ate here, myself and my mom, have upset stomachs. read more

Perhaps they were understaffed, perhaps it is because we are from Southern California and used to a different style of Mexican food but we didn't have a good experience. Albeit the salsa was tasty, the remainder of the food had no flavor. My husband and I ordered the seafood chili relleno and were sorely disappointed with what could have been a tasty and delectable meal. The service was lacking but I hope it was due to being understaffed for the day. We had no napkins while we had salsa , our drinks were empty most of the time and most importantly we waited an inordinate amount of time for our food. No one in our party of 12 taking up 2 booths left the establishment pleased with our meal but merely satiated for the time. It wasn't for us, we won't be back. read more
