Let me start out by saying Denis you failed. You were right about the service of your failed food. Waitresses were nice, however, eggs were cold with no flavor, biscuit and gravy was salty, potatoes were limp and tasteless. The coffee is so watered down. Your water with lemon is good though, but that is pretty hard to screw up. I say if you want a great breakfast, get in your car and travel to Chico (2 hours 8 mins away) to Nash's where they can show you what a great meal tastes and looks like. read more

Four stars because it's overpriced for what you get and our daughters breakfast came out long before my husbands or mine did. She was completely done and bored by the time we got ours. I ordered the pork chop breakfast and it comes with 2 eggs, choice of potatoes and choice of pancake or toast. Chops on the small side and boneless, but they had a real good flavor and the pancake was fluffy. Country potatoes had onion and bell pepper, but not a lot so I could eat around them and they were good. But that's personal preference. Love this place, the service is great and the food is exceptional. We usually go on the weekend with the kids. They love the kids menu of a Mickey Mouse pancakes and eggs with bacon. I love the Ultimate Omelette which I still have not been able to finish in one setting. The good thing is I take the left overs home for breakfast the next day! My wife loves the gyros omelette and the Mediterranean omelette. The coffee is always hot and fresh and the serviced is great. Came here with my sister and family for breakfast! Didn't expect much, but was so happy we made the choice to come here. They played Christian music, and you could tell they were followers of Christ. They are just getting started as it is under new ownership. But, if you are patient, the food and service will NOT disappoint! I will now be a regular up here when I visit my sister!! Asked for fresh coffeem. She then brought coffee with grounds floating in it. Waitress. Our waitress in 20 minutes never came back. Service was absolutely horrible. And will never go back. An ok 'home-town' diner. This place used to be run by Dennis... now it is Denis'...hmmm I see some reviewers say this is as good as it gets in Lodi? Really? Went here today with a friend on his recommendation. He and his wife ate here a couple of weeks ago and got a bit excited about it. He had the California avocado burger... I believe it was called. He was anxious to go back and have it again. Soooo, we both had the California avocado burger. With fries. For like $10.49?!?! And I thought Five Guys was expensive. There was nothing really wrong with our lunch... it just was not very exciting... and not worth the price. The fries were hot just like I want them. The burger... I asked for my patty to be 'done medium'. Server brings our lunch.. I look at her and say "this is medium, right"? She gets kind of that sheepish sad eye look and says "he cooks 'em all the same". WTF?!?!?! What kind of restaurant is this??? McDonalds???? I can go to McDonalds and get a burger that is "cooked all the same"... I can go to Five Guys and get a burger that is "cooked all the same". When I pay over ten bucks for a burger AND I ASK to have it MEDIUM....dammit... cook the f'ing patty medium. My wife and I have been stopping at this place in between business trips from Vegas for the last year now. The food has been great every single time! We have had the chicken fried steak. Excellent! We have had the stuffed french toast. 2cnd to NONE! Excellent! But my personal favorite has consistently been, the biscuits and gravy. WOW! There are no words to describe its awesomeness, it's a must try dish for sure. This place is very welcoming , the prices are great, the food is great and the staff has always been friendly. I've been here a few times for breakfast and have never left disappointed. The few complaints are relatively minor. Inside, the area is clean and lives up to country kitchen, but it's small. With the business that they get they could easily expand, and have the restrooms accessible from the inside of the restaurant. Regarding service-when the place is packed, everyone seems overwhelmed. When it's slow, servers are attentive and pleasant. They could use more staff. Regarding the food-I always get either the chicken fried steak or gyro omelette. Their portions are huge, even when you ask for smaller portions. I strongly recommend their gyro omelette. The lamb/beef combo is perfectly seasoned and cooked, and their tzatziki is amazing. Their chicken fried steak is great too, with huge portions. Two things with the food-I would like to see options smaller portions (breakfast just doesn't reheat well) that go beyond an egg and toast, and be aware-sometimes they run out of certain foods by 1300 (1 pm) on Sundays (like home fries). All in all, this is the best breakfast joint in Lodi, and well worth the experience. read more

Denis' sure gets a lot of hype from people. I'm not so sure what all the hubbub is about. The prices are NOT competitive. At around $10-12 per person, it goes without saying that cheaper cuisine is easy to find. I ordered the Bacon Avocado omelet. At other places, cheese is usually a part of the omelet combination, but here they charge extra for it. What a bummer. While spying on other customers' plates, I notice that they just put the cheese on top. Looks like sliced American cheese too. Bleh. I outgrew my liking for processed cheese food in third grade. Anyway, the portion was alright, except for avocados being in season, mine were unusually brown. Not aesthetically pleasing if you ask me. One good thing was the pancake. Light and crispy. If I ever come back here I'll go with a flapjack platter or perhaps try some French Toast. And I'll make sure somebody else picks up the tab. Eek. read more

Decided to grab a spot for brunch the day after Christmas on our way back to the Bay. Lot's of things came up in the Lodi area and while Denis's wasn't actually our first choice, I'm glad it's where we ended up. I ordered the Crab Eggs Benedict and I highly recommend it if you are a fan at all of crab. While I have seen numerous Benedicts at other restaurants that include crab cakes, this was the first time I'd ever seen it come with just crab, which to me was a huge plus. The eggs were poached perfectly, the english muffin crispy and the dill sauce was super delicious, and lighter than I expected which complimented the chunks of crab underneath. My only complaints are that the $15 crab Benedict didn't have more crab meat (let's face it: who doesn't want more crab?) and the plates took awhile to come out, roughly 25 minutes for an Omelette and a Benedict. Would I go back? Hell yeah! That bene was totes craveable and if I ever find myself in Lodi around brunch time again, I'm definitely stopping here. read more

As recent residents of Lodi, my boyfriend and I decided to eat breakfast at Denis. I am a big fan of breakfast and love my omelets, sunny side up, pancakes, and potatoes. However, I was a little saddened after coming here. I guess my expectations were too high as my boyfriend, who tried this place with his coworkers, said the crab omelet was really good. I ordered the chicken and waffles, but substituted the waffles with pancakes. The butter pancakes were okay, nothing extraordinary. I would have preferred my pancakes to be creamier. The country potatoes was slightly over done. And needless to say, my chicken was extremely dry. Lastly, the soft boiled eggs I ordered were slightly over done. I don't think I will be ordering the chicken and waffles again. My boyfriend ordered the crab omelet again, and he said it tasted different than the first time. He didn't like the sauce that was spread over the omelet. I tried his dish and would have preferred regular holidays sauce instead. Lastly, the customer service was not on par. Our hostess had an attitude, she was not friendly. When I asked if we could order, after sitting there for 20 min, she didn't appear happy. She made it feel as though I was wrong for asking if I could put in my order. I may or may not come back. The food was okay and the customer service was mediocre. read more

Easily the best breakfast in Lodi. Great service, great meals, and the freshest fruit around. Update: It pains me to do this, as I greatly enjoyed Denis's in the past. Unfortunately, my old review is no longer accurate. The past five or six visits have not been good. The service has become a major issue. It takes a long time to even get your ordered taken, even when they are not busy. Every time I visit, I have to remind the server about my toast, which has either yet to be put in the toaster, or it comes over buttered or burnt. The water quality is bad, to the point that it is undrinkable. I'm not trying to split hairs here, but these small things add up to a poor review. We heard very good things about this place from friends, so today, my man, our son and I decided to give Denis' Country Kitchen a try, and I am SO glad that we did! Son had the 'Kids Breakfast', the man had the 'Gyro Omelet' and I had the 'Gyro Sandwich' with french fries. The fries had great crunch and were overall delicious, my Gyro was so damn amazing! It has been so long since I had one, I think the last time I had one was at a Gyro stand in Germany 15 plus years ago! Do you ever eat something so good, that the mere thought of you finishing it makes you fucking sad? That was totally me with my Gyro. SAD I tell you! I looked at my last bite, knowing it was going to be my last and I almost didn't want to finish it... Tzatziki was good, wish it had more garlic in it, but then again, I am a garlic LOVER, so whatever. Son and man liked their food a lot as well, so yeah, 4 stars. We'll definitely go back. read more

New to the area and this will be my go to breakfast spot. I've been twice. First time was spectacular all the way around. Second trip I had a distracted server and a different cook which was obvious since I ordered the exact same thing. Hoping my next trip will be like the first. Excellent Chicken Fried Steak. Cute place. Flavored coffee creamers (huge plus). I've been in the restaurant business along time and just curious why they don't have any support staff i.e. a busser or host? It would help the weird flow I experienced on my second visit. And for everyone complaining about religious notes on the tables... simply don't read the little book that's off to the side if you take offense. This place was so gross. They use a frozen chicken fried steak that tastes like some sort of microwaveable meal. Scrambled eggs were over cooked. Hollandaise was not real. Before we got our food I went to the bathroom and I should have walked out after using their bathroom. The back of the restaurant is filthy. I would give it no stars if the app let me. I will never go there again. I don't understand why there's always people waiting in front of that place to go in and eat. It's absolutely disgusting. There's no excuse for the food that they're serving people and no excuse for the price they're charging for it. Save your money and if you like crappy food go to Burger King or McDonald's. read more

I eat out at a lot of places and tend to not revue the average. This place is far from average. Not a fancy joint, it's a neighborhood place that exudes friendly. My wife had a tri-tip sandwich that I took a taste of. I thought it was filet mignon! Perfectly cooked, extra tender, tasty med rare on toasted sour dough. My Ortega burger was a half pound of perfect with melted jack cheese, lots of Ortega chilies and their own tangy sauce with a perfect bun. It appears that they take a personal part in every thing on the plate.
