I've been a loyal Randy's customer for at least ten years, and although I can't say they are my favorite pizza in Durham, they are a consistent go-to for a quick weeknight pizza. We live close to Randy's, and instead of delivery, I like to order ahead and pick up the pizza. There's a huge difference in pizza fresh from the oven vs. pizza which has been in a warmer in the back of delivery driver's cat for 20 minutes. Delivery times from Randy's aren't consistent. Some days they'll tell me 30 minutes, other times it's an hour plus, but they do show up when they tell you they will. It's just that based on how busy they are, it might take longer. Pick up results in a much quicker dinner which tastes better. Also note that a busy signal can be common due to order volume. Just keep calling back. I do think it's funny that they have an old Papa John's # - 286-7272(PAPA). They have good, bit not great, pizza. It's a lot better than the major chains and the local competition which delivers, but if you are expecting the best pizza you've ever had, you are asking for disappointment. The staff are very friendly, and the owner is almost always working. The crust is thin, with a good chew to crisp ratio. Their toppings are good quality, and they don't use canned mushrooms which are a big turn-off for me. I've had mixed results with their salads. Sometimes the iceberg lettuce they use is wilted, and occasionally you get dressing which is 100% oil because they forgot to shake it up before portioning it. We've stopped ordering salads from them as a result. The garlic knots are worth buying, and the calzones and stromboli are excellent and a very good value considering their size. Coupons on their website if you want to always save a buck or two. Give Randy's a try if you haven't yet. Highly recommended if you are someone who frequently gets Pizza Hut, Papa John's and Domino's. read more

I've only had the delivery, which is good and consistent. A little pricier than some chains but a whole lot better. Best delivery pizza, and also will deliver on campus to Duke, although make sure you get your location clear as parking is difficult. FYI I spent $30 for two medium pizzas (cheese and pepperoni) just to give you a price range, but two slices each were enough for the eight people there. read more

After the awesome service and delicious food my roommate and I got from Randy's Pizza last night, we will only have their pizza delivered in the future. After ordering a 14" pizza, jalapeño poppers and garlic knots the person who took our order called us back to let us know they were out of the knots. We had paid with a credit card and they offered something in its place we didn't want. We ask for garlic bread which was a bit more expensive and they said that was ok. A few months back, I had ordered Dominos Pizza and while waiting outside for the delivery, a young man who is a delivery driver for Randy's approached me asking for help. He had just been robbed and had his car stolen delivering pizza about a block away. I called the police and waited with him until they arrived. This delivery driver happened to be the person delivering our order last night. The driver had given us 10% off our order for helping him months ago! Thor, you are awesome and Randy's actually gave us two orders of the garlic bread. I have always ordered pizza in the past from Dominos but not anymore. Awesome job Randy's! So I was craving pizza, and I didn't want to get dominoes or papa johns. So I ordered from here. I got delivery that came at about 40 minutes when he told me it would take 45. To me, that's cutting it pretty close. Anyways, I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza that was new york style. I thought it tasted fine, but it was kinda flimsy. The size of it was great though. Definitely really filling. The mozzarella sticks were alright. Nothing special. Same thing with the garden salad and the garlic rolls. It's ok. Not awful. Not great. It's pretty ok. In fact, this location isn't even quite as good as other locations (which have rather good specialty pies). The combo specials are pretty excellent deals, though. If you're looking for two pizza slices the size of your head and a fountain drink for $6, this is your place. Is that our pizza? I finally told them to shut up and let the guy work, so then they just watched him toss pizza dough, which, yeah, is pretty cool. It's an ok pizza. As an adult, I actually got to have TOPPINGS; my sister and I ordered the large veggie! Woohoo! No more plain cheese for me! Anyway, I like sprinkling on the parmesan, garlic, oregano, and black pepper on those thin slices. It makes me happy. :) Also, the large salad was plenty to share amongst 4 adults, so plan accordingly. My mini-monsters devoured a large cheese. Solid thin crust pizza (I wouldn't compare it to NYC, but I don't think I've ever encountered places outside of NYC who can do New York pizza). There are some non-standard topping choices available, like bacon and green olives, and ordering delivery over the phone is easy (nothing's worse than repeating an order to someone battling with background noise!) Hard to rate. When their pizza is hot, fresh & done "right", Randy's is pretty awesome. Don't bother with their delivery though. For some reason we kept trying their delivery and it would take 1.5 +hours, cold pizza etc with numerous calls. I think there was one time we waited 2.5 hours for deliv. Their pizza is the best that I have had here in the south! It reminds me of NY pizza slices. The delivery time was reasonable for a Saturday evening. The delivery guy was prompt. The pizza was delish!! I also ordered mozzarella sticks and they were ok. I was a little disappointed to see that they only had fried dough with powdered sugar(no cinnamon sugar). read more

Probably my favorite pizza in Durham. I am a little surprised that Randy's isnt rated higher. Though I have not ventured to try other items aside from their pizza, it really is good New York style thin crust. The portions are large so keep that in mind, daily special two slices and a drink for 6 or 7 bucks, that will definitely curve your appetite! read more

I don't know what happened to Randy's over the past year, but for us, it's gone from five stars to one. We've given them many chances to show us they're capable of becoming who they once were, but it's obviously not going to happen. Uncooked pizza delivered (an hour late), 1 tiny piece of chicken on each slice, missing pieces of the order (no cake). And the worst part? When I call to find out what's going on, I get a negative attitude so I asked for the manager and hear, "I AM the manager." It's time a new REAL pizza place come to this area and provide the product, service and "customer first" attitude we deserve. So long, Randy's. read more

Amazing pizza the way it should be! Thin crust and large slices. Was a surprising find on a trip from Virginia to Charlotte. We just followed the lunch crowd to a super casual little spot in a strip mall. (You can always trust the weekday lunch workers to lead you to a great local spot.) I ordered a large cheese pizza. I was walking out the door and tripped and my pizza slid out onto the ground. I went back inside to explain that the box wasn't closed properly, and the pizza slid out and was told by the cashier that it's "not our problem". I am in the customer service industry and regardless of fault, the customer should never be treated so poorly. They made me pay for a new pizza and I had to wait until all the new orders were filled before I got a new pizza rather than expediting my order. While waiting, I also noticed the filthy hood caked in a thick layer of dust. The store is run down with tiles falling off the walls. Do not eat here! read more

Just awesome. Exactly what a pizza should be. Great sauce, not too heavy. Lots of gooey cheese and the crust is thin on the bottom but not soggy. Crispy and chewy. Pizza options in NC have come a long way! Randy's is a solid if unexceptional choice. Huge slices and good flavor abound and I like the crispy, chewy crust but the slices are so large that they can't help but be very floppy. I'd give 3.5 stars if Yelp offered that as an option read more

No denying it, Randy's has the best pizza in Durham, hands down. We've now been to the Northgate location twice and loved it each time. We split a pizza so mine has the veggies and my son's has the meat. The toppings are abundant, the cheese is the perfect amount and that sauce is amazing. Their brewed tea it really good, too. This is a typical pizza joint with a dozen tables, TV in the corner and an open view of the pizza master twirling the dough in the air. read more

Okay I've been here 3 times and two of those times have been flawless. Great service, great food, good prices. Today though I noticed that Tony (owner/manager/?) wasn't there and it was busier than normal for a Sunday night. Having worked at a pizza place for 2 years I definitely sympathize with crazy nights. I've ordered from Randy's several times, and typically had an OK (not great) experience, but this last time was HORRIBLE. I called in my order and was told it would be ready in 25 minutes. I arrived in just 20 minutes and was told my order wasn't ready yet and asked to take a seat. I sat waiting and was never called for my food. After waiting there for 25 minutes I asked at the counter (which I had been sitting directly in front of the whole time) if my food was ready yet. I was asked to repeat what I had ordered, and when I did, the guy rudely said, "Uh, YEAH, it's ready. It's BEEN ready for, like, 20 minutes." I said, "Well, I've been sitting right there for 20 minutes because you told me it wasn't ready." As he flung it across the counter at me, he repeated, with a huff, "Well, it's been here..." To make matters worse, during my 25 minute wait there, I noticed that the floor of the restaurant was littered with about half a dozen cigarette butts! EWWWW!!!! Went there this afternoon ordered single slice of pizza which was 3.09 plus tax; cashier asked if I wanted drink and I said water; rang up bill and it was 3.92; I asked why it was so high and young woman cashier said I was being charged for water because people get glasses for water and then get soft drinks; I said "so you think I'm a thief?"; she said no but that they just charge everybody for water. Randy's Pizza is the thief because they charge you for water without telling you what they're doing hoping the customer doesn't notice the add on to the bill. I noticed because based on a 3.09 plus tax bill I was being charged roughly the equivalent of 30% tax, which exceeds Durham County tax by over. 20%. I've never been charged for water in any restaurant ANYWHERE much less have it done in such a deceptive way. Plus the plain cheese pizza slice I bought had the consistency of day old pizza. I'll never go back to Randy's Pizza!!! read more

I ordered a pizza special with wings, a soda, and added garlic knots. After over an hour my food arrived, but they forgot the garlic knots. I called the store and was told they were closed.
