I had heard good things about this place from colleagues and have been wanting to try this place. They were at the PI building today, so we decided to try them for lunch. I got the pulled pork sandwich with the spicy sauce and a side of fries. The pulled pork was delicious, melt in your mouth meat with just the right amount of bark. The fries were crisp, just a little salty for my taste. Tried them at the Seattle Center's 50th anniversary of the Worlds' Fair kick off party and was not disappointed! My husband and I shared the pulled pork sandwich with fries and that was enough food for both of us for lunch. The BBQ was smokey and flavorful and came with grilled onions and slaw mixed in (we went without the cheese). But, today my inclination was to try it and I ordered the pulled pork with the coleslaw and told them to hold the grill onions and cheese; as in Texas normally it's just pickles and maybe slaw. Also, saw the potato salad on the menu and got it and figured to skip the fries. Boy, was it good! As you've read it comes on a semi hard square roll and a generous portion of pulled pork, not chopped, yes the pulled it apart and every bite was really good with some burnt ends in the pork that added that nice crispy flavor. Damn good! Had the brisket sandwich. When asked if I wanted sweet or spicy bbq sauce, I asked the dude taking my order what he would get. He said he likes a mix of both so I went with the professional. Sounded like a good idea. Glad I did because it was very tasty. Perfect mix of sweet and spicy. And while I assume their fries were frozen, it didn't matter because the seasoning on them were finger licking good. They're parked at 1st & Cherry! Pioneer Square doesn't get much love when it comes to food trucks so I'm glad they pay attention to the people who work in the area. Take that SODO and Lake Union! 'T was a Tuesday and I had already eaten lunch. I went on a walk on 1st Ave and noticed a food truck parked. BBQ! I was still full from lunch though. Fortunately, the gal at the food truck window said they'd be back on Friday. True enough they were there on Friday and so was I. It's a good thing Safeco Plaza has indoor public tables because it was cold and I wasn't up for eating outdoors at Marion Court. The potato salad tasted like it was from Safeway or Fred Meyer's deli counter. It wasn't bad. It just tasted generic. As for the pulled chicken sandwich? That was something else! That sandwich was HUGE. It had a smokey sweet taste to it, as my co-worker described it. I only ate half of it. I'm glad it wasn't sloppy because I only had a couple napkins. I first ordered from these guys while I was with a friend at Marymoor Park watching 16 Candles. She recalled having their sandwiches awhile back and described them as "one of the best pulled pork sandwiches" she's ever had. Of course, that was my sign to go. We both ordered the pulled pork sandwiches, he have us the option of sweet or spicy and explained the spicy was about 3 stars out of five. We got spicy and oh my goodness... SLU in particular has a large population of them to serve the lunch crowd. I feel like food trucks tend to get overhyped, but I still enjoy trying them to experience different flavors that you wouldn't get due to lack of a store front. On Mondays Raney Brothers BBQ shows up at Harrison and Westlake in SLU. They self-describe as Pacific Northwest BBQ and definitely have a somewhat unique take on BBQ. On my most recent visit, I got The Dude, which features a slab of their Cajun meatloaf topped with pulled pork, grilled onions, cheese, and red cabbage slaw, served on an artisan roll. They offer mild, hot, and spicy sauce options, and I went for the hot version. The sandwich has a good flavor but overall is pretty underwhelming. I am a bit of a BBQ connoisseur, and nothing about their BBQ grabs me. The Cajun meatloaf is decent but not amazing, and the same goes for the pulled pork. The overall sandwich, particularly with the toppings they provide, does have a good flavor, but again it is fairly pedestrian. For a $10 sandwich, the size of it is also quite small. I have had their mac salad as a side before (though I didn't get it on this most recent trip), and it again has a good flavor but isn't exceptional. The portion for the side is also tiny, so it feels more like getting a sample. I have had the brisket sandwich in the past (and they have a "Beefy Dude" version that replaces the pulled pork with brisket), and I do NOT recommend it. The brisket is not very good and lacks the moist smoky flavor that an amazing brisket should have. Like most food trucks they tend to be busy around lunch time. Orders get taken quickly, and the time it takes to get the food I have found can vary greatly, though it usually is greater than 5 minutes. The portions are small and the food itself is average. So why do I go you ask? It is different from most other offerings in SLU, and when I have a BBQ craving it does help to satiate it some. It also helps that they have a punch card system, and I am getting closer to my free sandwich. In general, though, I go very infrequently. Not all BBQ places are created the same. Raney Brothers BBQ is a new breed of food trucks that is gaining in popularity. No longer does 'Food Trucks' mean a guy that opens up the side of his truck and offer up pre-cooked hot dogs and burritos already wrapped. These guys actually cook your food to order. I've tried several things at Raney Brothers. First up was 'The Dude' a decent size piece of meatloaf with pulled pork and a red cabbage slaw. Nicely complimented with one of their several sides (Potato Salad was good, as was the fries, very peppery). The next sandwich I tried was the pulled pork. They took the pull pork and grilled it so it had a nice seared crust/crisp to it. Tasty! As usual with these new food trucks you are paying for the convenience. Sandwiches cost 8.00$, sides cost a dollar (Fries 1.50$). Tax is already pre-included. Your meal comes out a little expensive for the portion size but that is to be expected. All in All a decent option for those that have no other options near by. read more

Service couldnt be better here....Owners are behind the counter and you can tell they put their heart and soul into this place. Location and service are enough since i work in SODO where there is almost no place to stop for great food that offers parking. Found it myself thru YELP search today after waiting thru 2 traffic lights only to realize that merging onto 5 N was an impossibility. I loved the strong drinks and the chopped salad I ordered. Just tried their food truck which is parked on Elliott every Thursday. 1st - any option other than what is in usual walking distance here is HUGELY welcomed (hear that other food truck purveyors ?!?!?!) Generally I'm not a fan of most of the toppings restaurants place on sandwiches - they often drown out the star - but on this instance I decided to buck tradition and get it as described. So glad I did. Others are right... soft ciabatta, perfect portion size, and the beef brisket? Smokey, delicious goodness! The cheese, grilled onions, spicy bbq sauce and wasabi coleslaw all sound like indigestion waiting to happen but oh my, what a perfect marriage of flavors! The server said i could have a new sandwich then came back out w my original sandwich snd said "my manager said you have to pay for a new one". Poor business practices, and crappy customer service, when you dont honor what your employee already told a customer. Now that trucks are allowed in Seattle downtown I've had a chance to sample the local flavors, and every Wednesday I make sure that I'm down at 5th & Union for Raney Bros. Firstly, the food is awesome. Just great, interesting flavors (wasabi coleslaw, Cajun meatloaf) reasonable prices (particularly by foodtruck standards), and the best part--the guy taking the orders is just super friendly. I mean, sure, food service folks should be nice, but he's just rad--you feel like you'd want to give him a hi-five after eating your lunch. Great experience, great food, only complaint is the sometimes-long line, but that's because it's worth it. read more

My friend and I found Raney Brothers parked near the corner of Fairview and Republican in Seattle. As I do with every BBQ joint, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich ($8): "Pulled pork which has been dry-rubbed with Uncle Pauly's secret blend of spices for 24 hours before being slow smoked to perfection over fruit wood for 12+ hours, then mixed with BBQ sauce. Served on a potato roll with grilled onions, cheese, and Red Cabbage Slaw." I loved the pulled pork here. Very juicy and tasty. The red cabbage slaw livened the experience with crunch, color, and extra flavor. What really set this sandwich apart from the others, in my opinion, was the caramelized onions. The silkiness in those onions showcases the talent these guys have. I also loved the melted cheese here, which I don't see in just every pulled pork sandwich. A well-executed toasted potato roll here, with the crunchy outside and the chewy inside. I dressed this sandwich with Raney Brothers' spicy BBQ sauce (patrons have a choice of regular or spicy). The spicy BBQ sauce was not spicy to me, but still very delicious. My friend and I agreed that it was one of the better pulled pork sandwiches we've had, let alone it coming from a food truck. Not bad, but not great. Having spent a long time in Central Texas, I suppose my view is a bit skewed, so please take it with a pinch of salt. Had the pulled pork sandwich (~8.50 after tax) and was a bit disappointed. Very light on smoke character, and the texture of the meat was a bit on the stringy side. I feel like the addition of cheese really detracted from the pork, and the bun would have been much better if it were toasted or warmed a bit. As it stands, it was a bit too firm and bready. If you're in a pinch and want some barbecue, there are far worse options out there, but this food truck isn't going to meet the bar for those of you looking for the good stuff. (I have yet to find it in Seattle, and I've been everywhere...) read more

Enjoyed Raney Brothers BBQ recently at the Magnuson Park Outdoor Movies event. The quality of the pulled chicken sandwich was fantastic. The service was friendly; however, the food truck line moved very slow. The fries are wonderful; however, were served cold. Prices were on par for the event, but better values can easily be found elsewhere. All in all, this was a good food truck adventure; however, based on the slow service for a very limited menu and cold fries, I would not return unless other options nearby really did not seem appealing. read more

Let me define my expectations of a great BBQ, it should have a tinge of smoky taste, a tender chew, succulent texture, tasty savory feel. Sadly, my ribs only accomplished a few of these. They separated the ribs with the bbq sauce, good idea so people can have how much they want on their ribs without saying there's too much or there's too little, since you're the one squeezing from the bottle! The bbq sauce was not homemade, I'm sure of that. It's like something you can get in the generic bottles at the store! At least put some effort into your cooking. YOU SHOULD MARINATE THE MEAT BEFORE COOKING IT, did you know that? Just tasted plain old beef, without any burst of essential tongue dancing. The meat was tender, but I didn't get a smoky taste, must be cooked on original charcoal on the grill- not on a wide pan.. That was disappointing. Don't expect too much, it's new to the food truck business, and the food is not so unique (BBQ). If the choice is something you can get anywhere, please try to make it one of a kind decided by the tasty smoky tender meat tearing from the bone. Another thing is, for one small rib, they charged $3. GIve it back. That is an example of overcharging at best. read more

I know nothing of BBQ styles but I know a tasty sandwich and this is one. I've tried the pulled pork, the pulled chicken, the beef brisket, the dude, and the beefy dude, and they're all delicious. Loads of savory meat with the spicy sauce (you can order sweet, spicy, or hot; I get spicy) and just a dollop of kale slaw fills the bun. The black pepper fries are also well done. read more

Pleasant surprise on the fries too..they were just the right amount of crispy and seasoning. I'm always happy when I get fries delicious enough that I don't need ketchup. But on to the main course..the pulled porkie. Really good portion of pulled pork, they don't skimp you on the meat. I wouldn't call it Memphis style or even Texan, but whatever it is is tasty. I tried this after a friend recommended them to me at the Bellevue location on 106th. First impression, they have a really great pulled pork sandwich. Most places take the pork and just slap it on some white bread. I get that technique; you don't want to hide that pork flavors. Raney Bro's steps it up a notch though, and adds some things to make that pork even better. They put it on a nice ciabatta roll with some red onions, a little red cabbage slaw, and some cheese. Nothing crazy, but it brings out the flavors. Really tasty. I hope they come back to Bellevue again! read more

I tried this truck today by Microsoft building 92. Any alternative to the MS cafeterias is always welcome. The pulled pork sandwich with fries was delicious. The bun was rectangular and both larger and higher quality than a typical BBQ bun. The pork was tender with a decent smoke flavor. I didn't hit any of the big chunks of jiggly fat or gristle which are often an unpleasant surprise in pulled pork. The promised "spicy" sauce tasted good but wasn't at all spicy (norm for Seattle.) Topping it off was some slaw, which I really like on a BBQ sandwich. Overall it had a great flavor and was a pretty big sandwich. The ratio of ingredients was perfect and the bun was filled just enough. The fries were fresh and crispy with a lot of salt and black pepper. I love pepper on fries. I paid $9.50 which I feel is fair for the quality level and in line with other "gourmet" food trucks. read more
