I bought a Groupon to surprise my partner for his birthday with a discovery flight through PAA. I contacted the company after buying the Groupon, and from there, everything went very smoothly. They helped me keep it a surprise, as well as stayed in communication about everything leading up to it. The discovery flight was an awesome experience for my partner and the instructor, Fernando, was really chill and great to work with. I would really recommend this business for the discovery flight!

They are one of the reasons that I continue to give Trident Aircraft my business. Once I arrived to the office for my lesson, I was greeted by whomever saw me walk through the door. The instructors carry themselves in a highly professional manner and there are obviously knowledgeable over the subject matter which they teach. After a quick and thorough briefing, you're wheels up and on your way! I am quite impressed with how the flight school operates and although they are small compared to some others.. they make up for it with the wonderful services they offer to the aviation world. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't really drive the 2 hours to visit the airport. Trident Aircraft has an outstanding, well maintained fleet that would make any pilot's jaw drop. You're on the outskirts of the lake so it's always nice to see the water through the trees. We also went kayaking and it was a wonderful experience and fairly priced - we were on the water for about two hours. The second time we went we went with a group of friends and we rented a row boat for the whole day ($50). It was definitely worth it since we were on the water from 10:30 am - 5:30 pm. The staff was very nice as well because we were able to dock the boat to go to our car and get some things we forgot. You're also allowed to fish - on a boat or kayak or on land - and I would recommend to come in early in the day or late in the day to actually catch some fish. If you're in the DMV area and need an escape from DC, or just want to admire nature, come here - by yourself or with your friends/family. There's something for everyone.

We asked for a shorter time since it was my daughter's spring break. At first they said it was ok but then they changed their mind. They insisted on a minimum of three weeks. I think that they run a racket on the tesla loaners and charge the insurance with luxury rentals. Their main focus was to secure as much money they could procure for themselves ignoring all the requests of the customers. In total they took around $12,000 for a repair of less than $2000 for an average paint shop. (they tell everyone a minimum of three weeks!)

Suddenly, on December 5, they emailed demanding the loaner back immediately and threatened a police report for "failure to return a rental vehicle." I called their rep (Alfonso), who said he would extend the loaner--he never followed up. That evening, the loaner was remotely disabled (Valet Mode) while I was driving, stranding me overnight in 20°F snowy/rainy weather on a busy DC street. I had to pay for towing myself to avoid freezing. The next morning (December 6), they called police (Rockville and Prince George's County), claiming I failed to return the rental. They also told officers my Florida license was "fake" or fraudulent. Police cleared me immediately. I repeatedly explained my disabilities (immune-compromised, OCD, ADHD, anxiety) and asked for accommodations to get my medication and belongings from the loaner (less than ¼ mile away at a friend's house). They refused and left me stranded without transportation or meds ever since. Now they demand over $14,000 in storage/rental fees--almost as much as the repair estimate--yet no work was ever done on my car. I have video, emails, bills, and records. This was unsafe, unprofessional, and unacceptable. Avoid if you value safety and clear communication.

They require sellers to deliver the vehicle to the dealership, stating they will reimburse the cost of a rental car for the trip home since they do not pick vehicles up. I followed their process exactly and rented a car for the return trip. Despite multiple attempts to contact them afterward, I was never reimbursed for the rental they recommended. . Payment was also delayed. They received the title on February 5th but did not issue payment until February 13th, and that only occurred after I reached out twice asking for an update. Another concerning point: the truck was listed for sale on their website before they had paid me or even received the title. To make matters worse, my license plates were never returned. I have documentation of the agreements, the premature listing, timeline of title delivery and payment, and my attempts to follow up about the rental reimbursement. Overall this process felt disorganized, poorly communicated, and far more difficult than it should have been. If you plan to sell a vehicle here, I strongly recommend getting everything in writing and being prepared for delays, last-minute price changes, and follow-up issues.

This place is awesome! I needed the headliner in my Land Rover to be reupholstered and wanted to do it on the budget, so I decided to do removal and reinstallation myself. Daniel gave me a great quote on reupholstery job that was 40% cheaper then the quote I got from a different upholstery place in Rockville. My headliner required a special order extra-wide fabric, and had two sunroofs and many screw holes for visors, map pockets etc. that had to be carefully cut out. When I got the headliner back, it looked like new, perfectly straight and smooth, and each screw hole was perfectly punched. Very professionally done! It made the reinstallation a breeze. The turnaround time was super-fast, too. It took only two business days including the time waiting for the fabric order to arrive. One day faster than promised. I am very happy with them, and will definitely be back if I need another upholstery job. read more

I was referred to Rankin Auto Upholstery by the service dept of a Chrysler dealership in Lanham, MD. I was in need of a shop that could install a new convertible top AND hydraulics that I ordered and delivered to them. The top needed to be installed on a 1985 Chrysler LeBaron. The car had sat for more than 15 years and the convertible top was in ruins. Rankin did such an amazingly awesome job installing the top. I couldn't be happier! What made it special for me was Daniel who I spoke to initially! He and others were exactly what I expected - professionals. I feel I received excellent service for an excellent price. I'm a first time customer that couldn't be happier with the service that Rankin provided. I had the convertible top replaced for my 2009 Mazda Miata. The folks at Rankin were able to get the top ordered and installed quickly. They kept me up to speed throughout the process and had it installed on time as promised. The new fabric top not only looks great but the cabin is completely sealed and I'm getting zero interior condensation even after hard rains/high humidity. I had nothing but problems with my previous vinyl tops and they leaked consistently. All of the folks I spoke to at Rankin really seem to take pride in their work and do their best to keep their customers happy. They informed me if I had any problems at all to bring the car back and they would take another look/fix the issue at no charge. I needed a local upholstery company to inspect my Lexus IS seat after a 24oz of coffee had spilled and pooled all over the perforated leather seat on the passenger side. After reading numerous reviews on Rankin Auto Upholstery and how highly rated it was, I decided to bring it in. The owner, Daniel, and his team were absolutely fantastic. They were honest, direct, and recommended the best course of action for me financially. My passenger seat cover and foaming were completely replaced and came out AMAZING. Better than I ever imagined. We purchased a new Acura based on the custom seat cushion that was designed and fabricated by Rankin (wife is only 4'10" and needed a special lift). It turned out so well that we contracted with them to make a custom cover for the rear seat for our large dog, and also to modify the head rests on the front seats so that they were much more comfortable. Bottom line, everything turned out perfectly. They listened to our needs, understood what we wanted, and created products that were excellent in all regards. Not only that, their price was very, very reasonable. Just as an example, the rear seat cover was 2/3 the price of a comparable seat cover from Acura and, to our way of thinking, a great improvement in material and fit. This repair shop is truly amazing and customer service is what all businesses should model after. The sunroof of my SUV had a reoccurring leak, which local shop could not repair. Rankin recommended I drop by the shop. I dropped by without an appointment, mechanic knew how to resolve the problem immediatel. He hotbuis tools out and fixed the problem on the spot and did not charge me!! I'm sure if I had gone to the dealership, they would have charged me a couple hundred dollars. I had a rip on the passenger side door along the window. My autobody shop said they couldn't do it and very likely I'd have to get the whole door panel replaced. They recommended Rankin and I went out there and they were extremely helpful . They were able just to replace the top piece and not the whole door panel, their price was reasonable. I got the car back within 48 hours and the work is impeccable. Highly recommend them. I will certainly use them again if I need auto upholstery work in the future (while I hope not my car is 10 years old so I think it's inevitable). read more

The guys are great. Six years ago Rankin replaced my the top on my Mustang. I use my top more than most and it has started to leak. I spoke with Daniel and he had me bring my car in to check the top to see if it was repairable or needed replaced. They sealed around the window to see if that would help and didn't charge me for the time hoping it would fix the problem. Sadly, it did not and I will need a new top, but I will take my car back to Rankin. They were friendly, honest and did everything in their power to save me the expense of a new top. read more

I had pillars and headliner corrected on an 02 BMW 325i. There was a key drop and Mr. Rankin coordinated with me to ensure an easy transaction. While the owner seemed genuinely committed to providing excellent service, the final results were disappointing-- the work was rough, and there were multiple damages outside of the repair areas. I have a 2004 Toyota Solara that I inherited, and the soft top clearly hadn't been replaced before. They communicated well throughout the process, and I'd recommend coming in ahead of time so they can assess exactly what you'll need. In my case, they let me know I needed a rain gutter along with the replacement. They were also willing to install the top I provided (with the understanding that it wouldn't come with a warranty), which I appreciated. On top of that, they stayed after hours so I could pick up my car, which meant a lot. I know how much that can impact someone's day. The reason for 4 stars is that part of the interior lining came loose a few days after the installation. I got it done April 10th. I was able to fix one section, but not the rear. I do understand that since the top was provided and had been sitting uninstalled, some issues may come up. I've reached out and am waiting to hear back, and I'll update this review based on how that experience goes. Update (April 13th): I wanted to update my review--I'm really happy with how this was handled. I was able to come in the same day, and they fixed the interior lining perfectly. I forgot to add that day of they discovered I needed a new passenger side tension cable and they got it done on time ontop of the original service. They explained that the top I provided had excess fabric on the backing, which is what prevented the rear section from attaching properly. They also took a look at the middle section and let me know that if it comes loose again, they can secure it further with screws to prevent future issues. I really appreciate that they worked with the parts I brought and still made everything come together correctly. That kind of flexibility goes a long way. I also asked about getting some work done on my leather seats out of curiosity, and they gave me a solid quote along with options; either sourcing parts myself or going through them. Overall, I'll definitely be coming back in the future. Thank you again!

I called several shops, none of which could promise the repair work within a reasonable period of time (2 weeks). Cost was not a factor as the repairs were covered by my insurance company. Levon was very straightforward in estimating the time required, which would be hard to determine before removing the door and viewing the frame damage, which turned out to be considerable. The repairs were still completed in a little more than 2 weeks. The quality of the work was excellent, and Levon provided excellent service in driving me to and from the Rockville library, when I had to wait a couple of hours for some minor follow-on repair. I would not hesitate to use his shop again should the need arise.

Not only did Levon give me an estimate during my lunch hour, he was able to do the job the next day. What really blew me away was that I added in a custom headlight replacement to swap out my dim and aging bulbs that were borderline dangerous at night and polished the haze off the headlight lenses. He replaced a few other market bulbs as well at no charge. Fast service and quality work at a fair price. Will definitely be going back to Obsession for any other auto customizations. Recommended all the way.

While shopping around the DC Metro area for a reputable shop to do the work or that "could" do the work- I was met with no returned phone calls, "....cant do it..." and no returned emails from the "contact us" form from a majority of businesses..... I saw Iron Mike's reviews on Yelp- pretty much all 5 stars coupled with a family run business and decided to consider them. My inquiry was returned almost immediately with a very fair and attractive quote, and they were more than accommodating in scheduling a mutually agreeable appointment time. While the location of the shop is somewhat off the beaten path of 355 proper in an area that time has seemed to have forgotten- I arrived at the agreed upon time, was greeted in a most welcoming manner and Iron Mike's took it from there. I was assured the work would be completed and I could pick my truck up at the end of the day so I decided to visit the Original Pancake House and explore White Flint and Rockville for the day-- To my surprise, just a few hours later, I got a phone call from Iron Mike's and was advised my truck was ready, everything went smoothly and I could pick up my truck any time. When I arrived, I was more than surprised to learn that because the job went a little quicker than anticipated, my bill was well under the quote and was incredibly fair !!!! It is so nice to see a business that appreciates YOUR business, coupled with taking pride in their work and more importantly doing a great job. It is also abundantly clear Iron Mikes knows their way around a car or a truck- and are very honest mechanics which is a rarity in this area. I would highly recommend Iron Mikes and will certainly have any additional work done there in the future. 5 Stars!
