What a gem. Private property all to your self. We booked a private tour for our group and it was well worth it. Deacon and Sam were the best. I felt safe, even though nervous and can't believe I got to rappel in or next to water falls. We did a total of 3 rappLes. First was about 30 feet, 60 feet and last 35-40 feet. All were different and had challenges. You could push off the rocks near the bottom to jump into the water or rappel into it. Definitely a ton of fun. Emily was a GREAT guide, and Chris was okay too. We had a great time, but I've got to do 4 star for two reasons: pace was REALLY slow with a group of 8 people. Seemed like too many for a single group. Usually around 30 minute wait per rappel. Also the price seemed pretty high for 2 people (around $550 for two people, plus gratuity). Add $70 per couple for some sweet professional photos (optional). We loved the tour and highly recommend it, just keeping those caveats in mind. I mean, you're rappelling down a waterfall!!! Keep in mind if you're doing the extreme tour, this (in our case) involved climbing UP a waterfall, so be prepared for an adventure! Do it!! read more

This is an experience you will not regret, definitely a check off my bucket list! It's not everyday you can tell someone you repelled down a waterfall in Maui! Emily and Taylor were our guides and they're super chill, funny, and experienced. They're also very good drivers! Hauling a 15 passenger van thru narrow and windy roads takes some skill. They pick you up at this park and ride lot at some freeway intersection and drive you to the middle of some jungle where the vegetation is lush and waterfalls are raging. Just kidding! It's actually midway on the Road to Hana at the Garden of Eden, so I really recommend doing the rappel tour first so you can get a preview of what the drive will be like for the Road To Hana and pick a few spots you'd like to see again. The first rappel is down a dry slope where you can practice your foot placement and rappelling. Then you go right into the first waterfall, the highest one of the day. Once you get thru this one, the 2nd one is a piece of cake. Just relax, keep your legs straight, feet flat, and stick your booty out and repel slowly so you can enjoy the experience! You drop into the water and the guide will unhook you, then you swim to shore or hang out in the water and watch the other people rappel down! Bring your GoPro and head strap, they have helmets with the strap holders. You can also bring your cell phone, they give you these backpacks and plastic containers to store them in. Do decide who should go first and switch off on the next waterfall for photos/videos. I say if you've rock climbed before, even in an indoor gym, you should feel comfortable with this, it's just wetter, slipperier, and in a less controlled environment. But trust your guides and pay attention to falling rocks and the weather because flash floods can occur in minutes. This was a highlight of my trip, it was adventurous, and picturesque! read more

Rare these should never be any water but possible. 2. The guides always were looking out for our safety and did their best to explain what you need to do 3. This is real, outdoors, private property and you should be prepared to do physical work. Today my wife and I took our 14 year old son, 13 year old daughter and her friend on the rappel Maui tour and it did not disappoint. Truly one of the best day adventure trips available. Our guides Rafekah and Naomi were outstanding, truly. From beginning to end they brought organization, safety, and real adventure every minute. I was worried that this trip would be a bit too much for our daughter and friend, and I was pleasantly surprised. The highlight of our trip to Maui. When the concierge passingly mentioned it in our island orientation ,it perked up our interest and glad we asked her for details. The pictures in the brochure looked good but the experience was phenomenal. It was adventurous enough to give us an adrenaline rush and a sense of accomplishment once we finished it without making us second guess our decision to do it. The staff was very competent and patient with all of us since all of us were newbies to the sport. They sent us a detailed email with instructions on where to meet them and what to carry for the day. They met us at one of the park and ride parking spots on highway 310. Finding the parking was the most difficult task of our day :) Anna and Trey met us at the location and made us sign very scary looking waivers on the way to the storage shed. The storage shed and waterfalls used for rappelling activity are located on a private property, some distance into the Road to Hana. So, if you are considering doing the Road to Hana but are not sure if you want to spend an entire day driving around picturesque but windy roads, drive to the storage shed will give you a taste Road to Hana. The staff used the driving time to brief us on what to expect in the day ahead and familiarize with rest of our party. Once at the storage shed we were provided shoes, life-jackets, helmets, backpacks, harness and other essential gear (They also provided zip locks and waterproof containers for our phones :) We were taught the basic technique of rappelling on a dry slope and then we proceeded to do two more with water. By the end of the last rappelling all of us felt like pros. This was followed by a small hike back up to the shed and we also saw the waterfall that is shown in the opening shot of the movie Jurassic park. All in all, terrific experience well worth the time and the money. Highly recommend it, most moderately fit people can do it. The Instructors told us that once they even had a blind person who successfully did the rappel. One of our group members was a mother of 5 with the eldest kid 31 :) read more

Such a great adventure to do while in Maui. We got to see beautiful waterfalls and Forrest while hiking to rappelling spots. There was flash flooding while we were there, so we only rappelled off of cliffs, not waterfalls, but it took nothing away. Naomi and Ropheka were our guides and were excellent! We didn't get to rappel down a waterfall, which definitely took away the full experience, yet I cannot fault them for it review-wise. Safety first, I suppose! The weather just wasn't in our favor and the falls were too 'gnarly' (keeping to that Hawaiian lingo). Taylor and Matthew were our instructors. They were both great. The island trivia to and from the rappel site was great as well! The experience itself was still one that I had never done. Pretty scary heights at first sight! Hopefully you will be fortunate enough to rappel down the falls. Four stars awarded because although a unique experience, it lacked the adrenaline rush factor that I was after. Mind-blowing day scaling roaring waterfalls in the Hana rainforest with professional and disciplined experts. I'd recommend this experience to anyone looking for a more adventurous way to experience one of the most beautiful places in Maui. Working as a concierge I've been fortunate to take part in dozens of amazing activities throughout Hawai'i: helicopters; cageless shark diving; scuba diving with Giant Manta Ray,... Rappell Maui stands out as one of, if not the best excursion I've ever been fortunate enough to participate in. The crew picked us up at the Kihei Park and Ride just Past the Maalaea Harbor (coming from Lahaina.) it was about 45 minutes to an hour to "The Garden of Eden" where we were fitted with harnesses, specialized footwear, helmets (mine had a go-pro mount already affixed to it), and given a safety briefing. The first course was maybe 20-25 feet tall. It was perfect to get our bearings. The groups are smaller sized and the same guys who picked us up escorted us through the next three courses, a 40 foot, a 60-70 foot waterfall and a third maybe the same height as the first. Each successive waterfall found us swimming across these freshwater pools nestled deep in the jungle. It was also my first date with my new girlfriend. Talk about an amazing start. Great experience! The guides were friendly and, where some guides will hang out with each other, these ones hung out with us. They were confident and knowledgeable, inspiring confidence in us. It was a rainy day, very muddy, and we had to forego rappeling directly down the falls. However, they chose difficult rappels and made it challenging and fun. We did get to rappel beside a fall and swim in the pool beneath it. The only improvement would be better food. read more

This was one of the highlights of my vacation in Maui! They have a couple different excursions, my boyfriend and I did the "classic" trip - one trip down "the bunny hill" and two water falls. We were picked up at a carpool parking lot with the 3 other couples for the trip, and it was about a 45-50 minute drive along the road to Hana to their outpost at the Garden of Eden. We didn't mind this because the two tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable on this trip, it was like having a tour of the highway to Hana. There's also a bathroom pit stop about halfway through if you need it (although there's also two bathroom stalls at their outposts)! I'm not sure if other tour guides do this, but ours also offered us these ginger candies (Chimes) supposed to help with nausea if you get car sick because the Hana highway is very windy. I don't get car sick, but I took a piece because I've never had it; I really liked it but my boyfriend hated it. The tour guides were fantastic about making me feel comfortable and confident about doing the actual rappelling. I did rock climbing a bit between junior high and freshman year of college, but I don't know anything about any of the knots or anything. Since you get two tour guides, you have one at the top and one at the bottom. They're both good at telling you what to do to perfect your form (lean backwards, bend your knees a little, etc). The one that I felt most scared about was the first "bunny hill" actually. After that, getting into the waterfalls was really exhilarating. The trips through these waterfalls always change based off the water levels (it is in a rain forest, torrential downpours are common), but we got to rappel right down through the second waterfall. I wished I had a go-pro for this whole trip but especially for this waterfall because I saw a rainbow in the water spray, it was beautiful! On the subject of cameras-- our tour guides made sure to help with putting go-pros on helmets if you needed it, but I only took my cell phone. When you go, you get a back pack to take water bottles and a water proof bucket. They also provide plastic zip lock bags. I carried my phone in the zip lock and in the water proof bucket and never had a issue. They also suggest you take pictures of your tour mates and share email address or numbers with everyone so you can share photos you catch of other people. After you go through the waterfalls, you go on a short hike through the rainforest. Our tour guide showed us interesting different kinds of plants significant to Hawaii which was cool. Once you get back to base camp, they provide you with a meal (ours was a big turkey wrap and they also brought pineapple and the best chocolate chip cookies-- they are also keen on any food allergies if you need something specific!). You get to dine near some peacocks, and you also get to sight see through the garden of Eden-- some views seem in Jurassic Park! I would suggest this trip to anyone looking to see the rainforests of Maui and is in for a little adventure, seeing this side of the island was great! read more

Fabulous adventure! Taylor and Anna were terrific guides. Skilled, supportive and positive! We had a perfect weather day and a small group of 7 so it was manageable! Rain forest was lush and beautiful and we got to see a little bit of it that is off the beaten path from other tourists. Note that you need to be in decent shape to do this. I am not an adventurous type, so I booked this for my husband and I paid to go along as an observer. From pickup to dropoff, this was a stellar trip. I can't explain enough why this should be a must-do in Maui. It is a little pricey, but definitely worth it and one of the most incredible things we did in Hawaii. Let me first say that I am terrified of heights and I quickly got over it to enjoy the rappelling. They provide ample time for everyone to go at their own pace. Our group of 8+2 guides was the perfect size. They make you feel extremely comfortable from the start and take you down a "bunny hill" of sorts for the first rappel. Our guides Dan and Debbie were very encouraging and helpful. If you go in the winter, bring a wetsuit top or dry-fit style clothing because it does get a little chilly, but at mid-day the water felt really nice. Also they have some of the best chocolate chip cookies we've had in Maui (whether or not they made them themselves); they were great after an adventure of a lifetime. Definitely make sure you arrive on time and go early so you have time for other things during your day. Also, if you do go rappelling make sure you stop and enjoy the view mid-waterfall/rappel. Don't feel like you have to get down as fast as possible. read more

But this is the thing DO NOT SIGN UP WITH YOUR FRIENDS - if you do -every person must buy the photo package even if they don't want it. So if 6 of you sign up together. Just to make reservations easier. You have to pay $35x6 even if you're the only one that wants the photos. Or ya don't get anything. I don't mind buying photos but that's BS. read more

Awesome experience! 1st time I had gone rappelling. We were schooled properly on how to rappel and what not to do. We rappelled 4 times and then were able to go into the waterfalls afterwards. It is nervewrecking making sure u go down correctly and you have to pay attention to where you place your feet but our guides watched us to ensure that we were safe and placing them in the right areas. You do have to be careful after it has rained there b/c your footing can slip very easily. Fun time and will do it again when I return! read more

My husband and I booked a Rappel excursion while on our honeymoon. We met Rappel Maui at the meet up location and got in their van. The drive up to the location is beautiful and our instructor Travis gave us a ton of information and stories about the area. On the way out you actually go on the road to Hāna for a little bit. Once we got to the site we got our gear on and went out. On the excursion we rappelled down 3 hills. The first being dry and the bunny hill where you will get to practice. The next two were beautiful waterfalls. The rappelling experience was a lot of fun and something I'm hoping to get to continue to do and what better place to do it then Maui!
