In looking at the reviews I noticed the word pretentious was thrown out, and at first glance I'd quickly agree with that. However I don't think that's on any part due to the staff or ambiance but more the people it brings in, so really can't judge a business on that. My first time in today, a man in front of me was talking about how Berlin is ages behind in coffee and that it sucked there and proceed to talk about coffee drinks I'd never heard of, beans from wherever, and the idea of mixing his coffee ordered with gin and tonic when he got home....

Like bro, I just want a vanilla latte man. I nearly flipped around and walked out but decided to tough it out. The menu is a bit daunting if you're a lowly little latte lover like myself but the guy behind the counter was so amazing...

Favorite local coffee shop by the coast. They have specialty espressos and normal ones, and keep it simple with no extra foams or syrups. The baristas are super friendly and explain the menu very well. The ambiance is also very pretty and there are always beautiful flowers all around. The vibes are very conducive to chatting with others and the music is nice and soft!

Great coffee, excellent service, and a warm atmosphere. Most of the customers are regulars, which really says a lot about the place. It feels more like a neighborhood community than just a coffee shop.

Came in day after thanksgiving to get a pick me up before heading into work and the boyfriend got a matcha latte while I got the special latte. The matcha is definitely high quality grade matcha. The special latte has a slight note of fruitiness but kick of caffeine to wake me up. Definitely a small hole in the wall type coffee shop but worth the coffee. Staff or owner whoever the 2 gentleman were they were very sweet and nice.

My wife and I stop here every morning when we're visiting family in San Clemente, and it's become our ritual. The two gentleman staff are kind, authentic, and super knowledgeable; they've walked me through their espresso recipes without any pretension. Space inside is really cozy, they serve cortados in the perfect not neutral vero glasses, and the latte art is consistently on point. Best speciality cafe in the area.

What a vibe in here! Love the earthy natural feel in here. Not much seating so it's more like a grab n go place unless you manage to grab a seat. FYI no decaf espresso available. Got a hot cinnamon (miel) latte and it was wonderful. Lightly sweet and smooth.

I got a little gap between work so I decided to try out a new cafe and came across Rapport on Yelp. I saw a lot of good reviews raving their coffee, unfortunately I don't drink coffee so I can't comment on that. The matcha was mid, it wasn't bad but I was expecting more from them. The staff let me know they brew their matcha in big batches. The croffle was so good though! It was the only food item on the menu and it did not disappoint! If you have never had a croffle before please give it a try, it is essentially a croissant hot pressed into a waffle. The interior is very cozy and the staff are all super friendly. They took their time explaining the menu to me and had other conversations with other customers as well. Parking was easy inside a parking lot.

Found my coffee shop near my neighborhood! Been on the hunt for a while looking for a local roaster, vibe, customer service, and quality. BAM! Found it here at Rapport Coffee & Roasters. Driving into the parking lot and seeing the line of people waiting says it all.Won't disappoint. Can't wait to come back

Great neighborhood small coffee spot! During my short visit I could tell there's a good loyal customer base with many returning customers. I had a Spanish latte and it was delicious proving right all those loyal customers! The menu options are just right and they have a handful of seats inside as well as outside.

This establishment is small inside a shopping plaza. Great friendly service. They have a la marzocco espresso machine. I didn't realize Trent sold breakfast. Someone ordered a breakfast burrito. Maybe next time I will try one. My cappuccino with oat milk was delicious. Perfect temperature and the coffee beans are nice and strong and rich just how I like it.

My husband and I stopped by Wahoos and saw the Cafe Smith across the parking lot. The cafe's name caught my eye. I thought the place was closed. (It actually was because of COVID on Sundays). I was greeted by both of the owners and wanted to buy some coffee to support local business. The owners were nice enough to sell me three bags of coffee, offered my husband and I cappucinos to try, gave us another sample, and stickers! What an introduction! Looking forward to more visits at Cafe Smith! read more

Very special coffee place. It has a surf vibe to it with surfboards and a small selection of merchandise as well. If you like coffee drinks on the sweet side you should definitely try their Bon Bon drink which is a strong iced coffee with condensed milk. read more

Such a cute spot with easy parking and great coffee! I got an Oat Matcha Latte that had the perfect amount of sweetness and tons of matcha flavor. A friend got a Latte with Condensed Milk, and he really enjoyed it as well! Would definitely recommend this spot :) read more

Small, quaint, intimate and GREAT coffee! The staff is so personable and I always love catching up with them. Definitely a place we'll be frequenting. They also carry pastries from Stéphane Tréand's Pâtisserie Chocolat in Costa Mesa (I will drive for a good pastry ;). I have been a handful of times and the consistency is always on par. Amazing, phenomenal drinks, friendly baristas, and the beautiful sea air breezing in! The perfect place for coffee. I highly recommend the Matcha Green Tea Latte and Strawberry Alternative. They also make their own natural vanilla for Vanilla Latte. The pastries and Affogato are exceptional & tasty as well. Will definitely be back here for more. I'm in love with Rapport!!!!! read more

Came for some coffee based on the yelp reviews. We ordered coffee and sat down with our boys. Chris the barista overheard that it was my fiancé's birthday and brought over ice cream with spoons for her and our boys. Thank you so much for amazing service! We will come back as often as we can! Great atmosphere and was welcomed with two smiles! Was looking for a new spot to get some work done and was trying to avoid Starbucks...so glad i found this place. Although it might not be in the most visible location, if you like getting work done from a quaint little coffee shop while sipping on high quality coffee...this is your spot. read more

10 Stars if I could!!! I am so excited to see a CRAFT COFFEE house here in our little San Clemente. The owners are super sweet. They explained that their beans are all roasted in LA and from Central America, sometimes only 2-3 days old and never burnt (I'm pretty sure that was the description). Sorry Starbucks...I found a new coffee stop!!! The iced vanilla latte is simply delicious by the way :) read more

Just discovered this amazing coffee shop in San Clemente on our way home from San Diego to Sacramento. Walking in we were warmly greeted by the two owners who were happy to share their expertise of the coffee beans and drinks they served. The shop was bright,clean, with cool music playing in the background. I selected the cinnamon latte and my husband had a peppermint mocha; all their syrups are made in house. Our drinks were served in ceramic cups with beautiful latte art. My latte was delicious, tasty, and smooth! And I loved the touch of cinnamon. We thoroughly enjoyed our coffee experience there and highly recommend you try them. I know we will be back our next trip down south. Great job guys!!!! read more

Absolutely the BEST coffee & service in San Clemente! The coffee is authentic and actually crafted by baristas who care about making your coffee perfectly, the staff is what I'm mostly impressed with. They're kind, knowledgeable and just overall friendly. I love how they gave everyone unrushed, personal attention at the register. Coffee is rich and flavorful and served at perfect temperature. This is probably the nicest coffee shop I've been to in San Clemente. It almost seems too nice to be in this shopping center. They have a nice selection of coffees including geisha coffee which I haven't seen at many places in Orange County in general. The prices are all very standard and very worth it in my opinion. The people working there are very accommodating and the atmosphere is wonderful. The music is calm and makes the entire visit enjoyable. I've tried both a dirty chai which was good in both the latte and espresso departments and a mocha which was also very excellent. I tried the peanut butter chocolate chip cookie this most recent visit and it was scrumptious. My goal is to come here as many times as possible before I leave for college. read more

Just wandered into this new place and quickly found out how amazing it is! The coffee is delicious, I had an iced vanilla latte. The vanilla and sweeteners are all made in house and aren't overly sweet or "Starbucks'ed" up. The result was a pretty smooth incredible cup of joe! I'll def be heading back. We had no idea this little shop even existed! I was pleasantly surprised by the shop.. we tried their cold brew and cappuccino and both were great. The location is a bit tricky to find. As others have said, the biggest word outside the shop is "Smith". If you're struggling finding this place, it's in the movie theater parking lot, not the one past it. Tip: It's next to the Sheiza Threading place. (The shop is on the backside of Full Moon Sushi.. sometimes the address will take you to the Full Moon Sushi parking lot, but if you're getting lost it's on the other side!) The shop itself is cute and clean. It was very quiet when we were in there. They do have some tables so you could go sit and work with your laptop. According to the barista's, they've been here for about 6 months now. We live right up the street and I am so happy I found out they're here because I'll skip Starbucks for coffee from now on. read more

Local coffee at its finest! Delicious pour-over coffee, lattes, teas, and more. Handpicked baked goods from specialty shops near and far. The environment is perfect--open and airy, clean, and relaxing. The music of choice is one of favorite things. But, perhaps even better than all of these things are the baristas--they love what they do and they make you feel so welcome and at home. A must stop in San Clemente! read more

This place is adorable! Found it in yelp so I wanted to check it out. Honestly, I look forward to trying out little indie coffee shops. So glad I did. Learned they just opened 3 weeks ago and they're doing a good job so far. Cute interior, clean, simple, and they mix industry and green. Cinder blocks, succulents, wood...so cute! Got the vanilla iced latte and it was great. They make their own vanilla flavoring. The almond croissant was warmed up and hit the spot. Not too sweet. Passed Rapport on my way back from work the other day and stopped to check it out. What a neat coffee shop! I sampled the iced vanilla latte, which they explained was made from natural vanilla as opposed to syrup, and it tasted great. The chai latte was delicious too. The guys working there were super friendly and took the time to explain all the drinks to us. I'll definitely be back to try another. There's wifi, too. I love independent coffee shops in this one is top notch. read more

Heard via a local friend that a new place popped up nearby for coffee and stopped by today. Yay ! Super cute spot with chill music and simply irresistible pastries. I do not know what they put in those Blueberry cookies but they are addictive. Great staff who took the time to talk to us about choices and tell us their story .Oh and the coffee ? Such a fun little place! It's definitely worth finding :) I stopped in the other day and tried their delicious match green tea latte sweetened with white chocolate and it was beyond good. I so appreciated all the little details too -- beautiful latte art, drinks served in unique pottery, a fun and bright atmosphere. Our specialty and COE* beans are directly imported from coffee farms located worldwide. Our goal is to serve the coffee at highest quality to our customers in San Clemente.

We ended up seating at the bar and left the booth for other parties. Love the teamwork, the staff were super stars doing a rush like that, let me tell you it PACKED HOUSE and we got our food and drinks on time, no one in my party had to wait to eat and I forgot to take pictures of my staff meals, only took mines and what I got for the table to share was a croissant french toast, which I believe was their special of the day. I got the chicken fried steak and the portion are MASSIVE!!! All of us took our food home because the portion size are insanely big and bang for the buck!! Great place to eat breakfast or brunch or even a 'Team Building Breakfast Time' LOL Just happy to treating out my amazing staff on their work. Great neighborhood coffee shop. I've lived in the neighborhood for a year and just discovered this little gem. It's in a very uneventful strip mall, nothing fancy on the outside, but when you walk in you immediately know they take pride in their craft. The almond milk latte is delicious, with the cinnamon flavor, it's their own in house recipe, not some gross sugar filled syrup from a chain. The night before my dissertation defense, I ordered a 96 oz coffee (joe-to-go) to go with a note saying I was defending my PhD (preemptively apologizing if I looked like a frazzled raccoon and worried anyone on accident while picking up). When I walked in at 7:45 AM (15 min earlier than my pick up time, bc anxiety), the staff immediately complimented my defense outfit -- instant confidence boost -- and when I said I was the person picking up "lots of coffee," they led me to the coffee, already packed and ready :') They all wished me good luck with the warmest, most dazzling smiles. Oat milk is basically liquid gold. I felt so loved. So caffeinated. So non-dairy option supported. Usually after defenses, there is leftover coffee that people are trying to give away. One of my committee members had about 4-5 cups, and I am not exaggerating., (Even in a field that basically runs on coffee, academics are running on caffeine.... and wine, so a room of 12 people, not all drinking coffee, and still finishing 96 oz of coffee is a record.) It was perfectly bittersweet and not grainy or sweetened with too much vanilla so it had a good balance. The drinks came out quick (and really hot!) so had to double cup the drink since it was a bit toasty to hold (so a tip for the shop, it may be good to add sleeves for customers for hot drinks!) The shop was pretty minimal but had some cool decor and a bunch of polaroids on the pillar. There's also lots of seating right outside the shop in a pretty wide space so it was perfect since I had my dog with me.

The employees were patient with us as first timers and were happy to answer our questions about the menu. I ended up ordering the Iced Lavender Caramel Latte, and it was delicious. It reminded me of one of my favorite local coffee shops back home, which is high praise. I expected it to be on the sweeter side, but it was perfectly balanced. It also wasn't overloaded with ice, so it never reached that watered down stage halfway through the drink. If I'm ever back in Dana Point, I'll gladly stop in for another one.

The staff were really nice too, and prepared everything quickly. I got the Orange Cardamom Latte w/ oat milk, and a Cold Brew w/ Vanilla Foam. The OCL was great, I would totally get that again. The Cold Brew was too acidic unfortunately, and just tasted more like an iced coffee. I'd skip that in the future. I also tried the ham and cheese croissant and the spinach and ham croissant. Both were pretty good, but a little on the oily side. Overall I'd say this was a 3.5/5 experience, but rounding up because service was nice and the OCL was great. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit!

One thing I really appreciated was that they opened at 5:30 a.m., since many coffee shops in the area don't open until 8-10 a.m. or sometimes even later. The location is right off PCH, making it a convenient stop, although the parking lot is very small and I could see it getting crowded if there were a long drive-through line. We initially parked and walked up to the door thinking we could order inside, but found out that orders are only taken through the drive-through that early. The ordering process was quick, and the barista was friendly and efficient. The drinks were decent overall, with a good coffee flavor, but nothing that really stood out. One thing that surprised me was the cost of the add-ons. My sister changed her milk to oat milk and added a pump of hazelnut, and both were an extra $1 each. The hazelnut flavor tasted good, but the additional charges felt a little steep.
