There was a table ahead of us. My husband and I decided to sit at the bar since therewere a couple spots open. We wanted to save the table for a family that needed more room. And we actually like sitting at the bar. We sat ourselves and kinda of waited for sone service. It was very busy still so it took a minute for someone to help us. No problem, my husband and I just chilled till someone got to us. We finally got coffee and juice started while we were looking over the menu. The gal that got my coffee was sweet. She got me fresh creamer and sweetner packets so I didn't have to use the communal packets. I appreciate how understanding she was about my requests and my want to protect my new kidney. The menu has a lot of options which was great! Everything sounded tasty since we were so hungry! My husband grabbed the 2 biscuits and gravy meal with 2 eggs. I got the Tomlet with some spinach added without the hashbrowns and toast. Our food came out fast and hot! It all looked so good. My omelet had hamburger, olives, onions, cheese, jalapenos and fresh spinach. It was just what I wanted! I added sour cream and salsa to that baby, it was so good! My husband's biscuits and gravy were massive! The best homemade biscuits and gravy we ever had came from a gas station in Athens, Ga. These biscuits and gravy were busy as good! They are the best we have had in town! The biscuits were fluffy and airy, not too dense. The gravy was savory and rich. I don't know what kind of sausage they used but it was really good! Sausage gravy is a 50/50 for us but this gravy was killer! Everything was so fantastic! We ate every bite of our food and didn't regret it one bit! I appreciate the small, hometown feel of this restaurant. Servers knowing their guests by their first names. The prices were reasonable. The coffee was hot and my cup was always filled. The food was killer good! Our service was great. This joint is a little further than our normal brunch joints but they are so worth the drive! I even saved a few bites of breakfast meat for the fur babies to enjoy as a little treat when we got home. To our surprise, the café shares a building with a livestock auction, which is pretty freaking cool! We were secretly hoping to catch a live auction--or maybe spot Rip or Beth from Yellowstone--but apparently we came at the wrong time. I found their house seasoning blend on the table just as I was finishing my meal. I wish I'd noticed it sooner because I think it would have made a big difference. The restaurant has a cozy, family-owned feel with lots of charming decorations, heartwarming quotes, and family photos throughout the dining room. Drinks came about 10 minutes after ordering. Dinner came out at 7:15 pm. We had no idea this experience would be this long. Food looked great, but after one bite into my Cajun chicken club, I was really disappointed. The chicken was stringy-dry (at least my jaw got a workout) and the buns were borderline burnt instead of toasted. All the other ingredients (bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese) were fresh and thankfully, enabled me to eat most of the sandwich. We rarely saw our server and both me and my husband ran out of drinks (we even finished off both waters) before she showed up for a refill. We didn't leave there until almost 8pm. Though she told us to ask her if we had questions, I didn't find her responses to be pleasant. The first dish my wife was interested in had Boursin cheese. My wife had not heard of it, and she cannot eat a lot of cheese. She preferred something milder, like mozarella. When she inquired of Hannah, the reply was terse. "We don't have mozarella." "Do you have another milder cheese?" "Like what?" Not in a nice way, and not professional, in my opinion. And, she was loud. We waited longer than usual for our food, and when Hannah brought it, she just dropped the plates and split. To her credit, she did check in on us once during our meal. Now I don't know what kind of day Hannah was having. Maybe not so good. I don't know what kind of person she is, and I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she is a nice woman. Hopefully she is not like how she was with us to all of her customers. I'm a 20% tipper. For her, it was 18%. I wasn't given a choice, but I would have gone down to 15%.
