The chicken was also very chewy and tasted like it had been cooked in water instead of being grilled or prepared with more flavor. The one thing I did enjoy was the teriyaki sauce--it had a really good flavor and was probably the best part of the meal. I also ordered the chicken salad, but it wasn't as good as I expected. The food is always good. They won't messed up my order and whatever I received was good as well. This time I camecome and the cashier did not sleek. She did not greet me and I stood there for a while before I just decided to order because she stared at me and said nothing. She was very rude. I was going to order dinner for today and lunch for tomorrow. I drove from USC to have their food. Never again. Not with these gas prices!! I heard from a friend, Cindy S., that Rascals Teriyaki Grill is a South Bay institution, and you can often find their legendary Chinese Chopped Salad at parties. This piqued my interest, and I knew I had to visit. I wasn't very hungry after a big breakfast, but I wanted to try the place out since I came a long way. I ordered the Teriyaki Beef and Chicken Combo ($13.50), which includes a good portion of beef and chicken with white rice and a side salad. It was pretty good, but not the best I've had in SoCal. The value is excellent; you get a lot of food for under $15. I came for the Chinese Chopped Salad, so I ordered a small one ($9.50) with shredded chicken, almonds, lettuce, and wonton crackers. Their salad dressing is amazing. I was so full, but I made sure to finish it. I was too full to eat the Teriyaki Beef and Chicken Combo, so I brought it home for my family. They loved it! I love this place, it's been a minute and as of moment they still don't disappoint. The flavors are on point. I have tried the curry, the chicken sandwich a little messy, the Chinese chicken salad. Hubby and I saw a YT video of a couple people really raving over Rascals so we decided to stop in on our way home from LA one day. I'd placed a to-go order online and showed up at the appointed time. I was helped pretty quickly near where they put up on the online orders sign. (It looked like they do A LOT of to go orders!). I have to say, in terms of to-go packaging, Rascals kills it. Everything is neatly segregated, the wonton strips for the chicken salad is separate and each order got their own bag. What drew me to this place was the YT video highlighting not only their teriyaki chicken but also their gravy chicken. And if you know me, you know one of my favorite foods is gravy. I honestly don't need the chicken. So I was a bit disappointed that the gravy was sorta under-seasoned. I don't know if this is deliberate but the separate extra gravy they give us was much more flavorful. It's almost like someone forgot salt in the batch of gravy that went on the chicken but the side gravy was ono. Could have used more of that! As for the teriyaki, it was very tasty. The char of the chicken was really a game changer and I kind of wish they used that chicken on the gravy version. We also got the chili and rice because I grew up on Guam and we ate a lot of chili and rice, like people in Hawaii lol. They do give you a lot of rice so I had a lot leftover when I ate only the top layer of rice with chili lol. Finally, chicken salad was good, slid and refreshing. For a side to each our plates, they definitely gave you huge portions. We only did a to-go order but the restaurant looked nice and airy with a lot of seating. Definitely hit our craving! We had a Rascals close to us in Long Beach that moved to Carson. Decided to make a run to Gardena on the way back from an appointment close by. The BEST Chicken Teriyaki, great Beef Curry, and their amazing Chinese Chicken Salad. As most of us know, it's the dressing, so sweet and so good! The order was all to go for the family so no pictures! They all dug in too fast to even make a picture worthy plate! I would say the coleslaw was made with a similar dressing as the Chinese chicken salad, which is the star of the show. I enjoyed every bit of it. I want to start by saying that I truly love Rascals. I've been going since I was a child, and when I don't know what to eat, it's always been my comfort food. There's so much nostalgia and good memories tied to this place. That's why I was so disappointed with my most recent experience. I came home after picking up my phone order, opened my food, and found that the container was packed almost entirely with rice, with barely any of the meat. The portion I received could have fit entirely into the smaller side of the to go box. I know what the usual portions look like, and this was nowhere close. When I called to address the issue, the manager seemed indifferent, though I will say the owner was kind. I was told I would need to bring the food back. Unfortunately, I work and am busy so I don't have the time to drive back and forth. I'm also not someone who likes to waste food, so I kept it, but I left the meal feeling both let down and upset. I've been visiting the Gardena Rascals for years before the COVID pandemic and the food items have been pretty good. The service, usually is good; however, today is the exception. I arrived at 3:40 in the afternoon and it was fairly busy, not surprised, and I expected a bit of wait. My order was simple cheeseburger with a turkey patty and no tomato, that's it, very simple order. My order number was 325. Customers ahead of me received their orders, mostly plate meals, no sandwiches. There were seven customers behind me who ordered plate meals, some with a salad. Those seven customers received their orders ahead of my simple turkey burger. While other customers before and after me received their orders, I was still waiting. I saw my order was ready, but did not say anything since it was busy. But, after 7 customers received their orders before me, order numbers 326-332, and my order still sitting on kitchen top counter ready for pick up, I decided to ask about my order, which was 7 orders ago. The employee that I asked responded that he had a lot going on and shoved my order in a paper bag, no thank you or you're welcome. I thought how rude! I've seen this employee before and I wouldn't say that he's the friendliest of the employees at the Gardena Rascals. Like, who peed in his Cheerios? I've also noticed that a few employees who worked at the Gardena Rascals before mid-2025 are no longer with the Gardena Rascals. Too bad, they were friendly and helpful. I understand it was busy when I arrived, but I was more than a little put off given that my order was a simple one, turkey cheeseburger and nothing else, and, all the customers arriving after me received their orders before me. I recently ordered a combination plate from Rascals to share with my one-year-old son, and I was extremely disappointed to find a strand of hair cooked into the teriyaki chicken. This was not only unappetizing but very upsetting--especially because I was feeding my child. I was introduced to Rascals in the late 90's. Rascals used to be in the Tozai plaza. Its been many moons since I've been around Gardena and Rascals is one of those memories that is still around to share the experience again. I don't know how many years Rascals has been on Artesia but any time I do have the chance to be in the area it happens to be on a Sunday and sadly for me, Rascals is closed. Boo hoo. Luckily for me I did get my chance to visit. I brought my mother and sister and man, it was a experience. First off this location is HUGE! Even the smallest section of this establishment was larger than the location I last remember. My sister was surprised on how many salads were on deck ready to be sold. She questioned how good is their chicken salad and I told her "we're going to find out". Everyone was happy with their teriyaki chicken / chicken salad meal. Another classic Gardena spot. Original location was in Tozai Plaza off Redondo Beach Blvd/Western...this was back in the 90s, maybe early 2000s? They moved to a new spot (years ago) off Artesia/Halldale. Now they actually have 3 locations: Gardena, Torrance (West) and Carson (opened 2 weeks ago!). Sadly, the Long Beach location recently closed. I will venture here for their Chinese Chicken Salad (large). Fairly fast service, you can also call ahead and pre-order. Dining room is usually fairly busy when I've stopped by. Parking is OK, never had a problem finding a spot but can get packed during peak times. In addition to CCS, they also have a ton of other items such as teriyaki, curry, burgers, etc...something for everyone. Prices are fair/competitive for other similar places nearby....but the CCS is definitely what keeps me coming back! read more

Parking lot is decent size but be mindful of the parking signs and times. I ordered their chicken salad and it was pretty big. The chicken to lettuce to dressing ratio is kind of off in my opinion, but it was still good. There's also sliced almonds which gives it a little crunch. It's healthier than eating a burger, but I would definitely get the teriyaki chicken and rice next time. Service was really fast and staff were all super nice. I am glad that this Rascals is near my office as it is our go to spot at work when we are craving teriyaki. There was a Rascals closer to home in Long Beach, but unfortunately they closed down and relocated to Carson. So really, I only get to eat Rascals once in a while now. I love getting their chicken & beef teriyaki plate. The rice is kind of like sticky sushi rice, which goes really well with the meat. One order is enough for two servings.
