Made an appointment, brought my car in early morning 8 to be exact. By 3 o'clock I called asking about my car. The lady said they are back up, haven't even looked at my car. So I asked what does that mean. She said they are back up. I mention I need my car. The lady said you can come and pick up your car no charge. I would hope so if they hadn't look at my car. What's the point of making an appointment. They could have at least called and mentioned the situation. So here I am picking up my car. read more

If you are looking for the cheapest place, keep shopping. This place is careful and steady. They are busy (lots of return customers) and you will need an appointment for non-emergency issues. They do it all, from the standard maintenance to rebuilds. Perhaps the best in town for older vehicles. I took my '57 truck in for an obscure linkage problem that had eluded other mechanics. I took my car here for a smog check. It was a reasonable price ($67) and I was in and out in less than an hour after my appointment time. Also, there was an elderly woman waiting for her car while I was there and all of the staff seemed to know her and greeted her by her name, which I thought was nice. Finally, they will take you home if you have to leave your car and don't want to wait. I will definitely be back for my other maintenance needs. read more

I brought my '64 Corvette in for some needed service and repairs. Also, I told them that I thought the car needed new shock absorbers and I authorized them to install new shocks. When I picked up the car today, they told me that my stocks were fine and did not need to be replaced. Now that is an honest shop !! Rasmussen has great technicians who know how to diagnose issues and fix them the first time. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. They take the time to explain everything in detail. Took my rusty old van in because I ran over something on road that was causing a loud noise from exhaust area. They were courteous and looked at it quickly. Bolts rusted off Heat guard. Three ways to tell a great mechanic from an average one. 1, his lot is so full of cars that there is no place to fit another one in edgewise. 2, only way he can take in work is by appointment. And most importantly, 3, he is the only one that can figure out your problem when no one else can. After having the engine rebuilt in my truck, I did additional rebuilding of the various related support systems. New cat, new o2 sensors, new EGR valve, new EGR tube (which another shop had ruined), and a 100% complete inspection and checking of every bit and piece in the fuel, emission and evap systems. Still could not pass smog after numerous tries. All the numbers were like a brand new truck with the exception of the last one, the dreaded NO value. (Nox I think that is). The fellow that was doing the majority of the mechanical work for me (another great mechanic BTW) told me he was concerned that the engine builder had taken too much material off the heads when he re-surfaced them. From what he told me the NO value climbs when the combustion chamber temp goes above a certain level, then the NO output goes up. This normally happens on a high mileage engine that has heavy carbon buildup on the top of the piston and the inside of the head. But my engine was like new and the emission system was now working perfectly again! Our only chance to resolve this would be to add octane booster, or at the suggestion of my mechanic, Lucas Fuel injector cleaner. The Lucas product has additives that not only clean and lubricate the fuel system but also lowers the combustion chamber temps and in turn the evil NO value. So at the recommendation of the BAR I took my truck to Rasmussen. The Bureau of Automotive Repair had helped recover my money from a smog shop that couldn't solve the problem and suggested I give Rasmussen a try. So I take my truck to Rasmussen, tell them the horror story of my rebuild project, where we're at and what we think the issue is and the mechanic smiles at me and says "you are correct, lets hook it up to the (smog) test machine and see what happens". Thank God, finally a mechanic that pays attention to what his customer says. After the test he comes back with an even bigger grin and says "she passed with flying colors"! The people there are so nice and more than willing to hear what the customer thinks and make it right. And isn't that also the mark of a great mechanic, to listen to the input of the customer and translate that into action that solves the problem correctly the first time? The initial part when we brought the vehicle in was fine. After almost a week we called them to see what was up. They said the parts hadn't come in yet as if we were supposed to guess that. I wanted to ask, "Why haven't you called us to just keep us informed of the delay and progress?" I called a few days later and the employee says, yes it's done, you can pick it up. I felt they should have called me to tell me it was done, especially since I had to call the first time just to find out what was going on. I asked what the total cost would be and the price was doubled of what I was expecting. I questioned it, and they did repairs that I did not authorize. Normally if you go in for something, and the shop finds another related problem that will cost a lot more, they call and ask if we want to authorize the other repairs. Since they don't make calls, we never got one asking for this authorization. Another repair we had requested took them twice as long to do as what it should have been. This means that the person working on it had no idea what he was doing, and was just learning on the spot. So we paid a lot extra for wasted hours for the employee to watch YouTube videos and learn as I should have just done myself how to fix the problem. What Rasmussen doesn't realize, is that they lost a client instead of gaining one. Was there any dishonesty? Probably not. Just a complete lack of basic customer service practices that all auto shops follow. Keep your clients informed, updated, and call to authorize extra repairs. Also, if you don't know or have an expert for certain repairs, be honest and cut out the learning curve hours from the cost, or recommend another shop. I'm very disappointed and out 3-4 hundred dollars of unexpected charges. They will be out of any of my business and all my associates, family and friends. So in the long run they will lose more. I don't think they really care anyway. read more

So the cable to my power window broke as I went through a drive thru which meant after i rolled my window down to get my admittedly bad for the body, good for the soul food, I couldn't roll it back up. I was so mad because I was on my lunch break and didnt have time to go get it fixed. I was worried about people stealing stuff from my car and all that while it sat in the lot at work. Well I got off at 540 and Rasmussen closes at 6. So I called and asked if I made it there before 6 if they could help me. well help me they did. I got there at 5:54 (normal people would like to go home when the store closes at 6 and would probably be upset that someone brought their car in with 6 minutes to spare). But not Rusty! He was awesome. He was so genuinely nice about it that it shocked me. He looked at the door and really tried to help me out, eventually pulling the panel off and getting the window back up. By the time we were done (I didnt need it fixed, just brought back up since it was going to rain) it was 6:10pm (he could have already been home if he lived anywhere close). He put everything back together and didn't charge me at all. This was A+ service and Rusty was an all around great employee. I will definitely remember this and take my car back here if I need anything fixed! read more
