I'm not particularly fond of Indian cuisine in general but that said, I do enjoy select dishes and always open to discovering new ones. This is the reason why it has been tougher for me to find an Indian restaurant that I could visit from time-to-time and trust that I will get my staples done right. Happy to say I found it in Rasoi. Not totally pretentious, every dish ordered by those in our group tasted wonderful (good portions, flavorful yet not overpowering), the drinks priced right (Mango Lassi for just $2.99 served in a lovely, slender glass) and the service was genuinely efficient. Went there for dinner with 2 friends. Alook Tikki Chaat was so good, Chicken Tikka Lababdar (closest to a Punjabi Butter Chicken I can find), Satvic Thali (the cauliflower was yummy!) and Bengali Seafood Stew -- all were delicious. Delicious! Chicken korma was tender and full of flavor. The potatoes were unexpectedly full of heat, but that was a good thing. Yellow lentils were cooked perfectly. And to top it off, tasty sangria. I especially liked the pineapple in the sangria. The decor was bright. I loved the photos on the walls. I also happen to love when you can see into the kitchen. I am ALWAYS in the mood for Rasoi. Whether it's a warm summer evening or a blizzardy Sunday afternoon in the middle of January, Rasoi is always the best choice. The buffets on Saturday and Sunday are great. I abstain from eating land animals so I prefer the Vegan buffet on Saturdays. And it's also an excellent option for those who are gluten-free. My first true love is the Mattar Paneer but the ginger naan and Cauliflower 65 are close contenders for first place. Prices are good and service is always friendly. Rasoi is great for a date night for two, or a big dinner out with friends. The decor is festive and they always have some funny Indian music videos playing. Indian food doesn't normally make me wax poetic, but this place makes me swoon. I'll go to Rasoi solo once in a while and sit at the bar. My go-to is the Saag Paneer and a blackberry martini, but anything else I've ever had has been fantastic. I've brought other people in, and even the most discerning palettes would jump on the 5-star train as well. While they only have bottled beers, their wine selection is surprisingly varied, and the cocktails are creative. Where else can you get a muddled blackberry martini in Providence? The restaurant itself is immaculate, beautifully decorated, and well-arranged. Some people have mentioned that it's crammed, but I don't find that to be the case. Rather, they have some screens for privacy, and you certainly don't have to listen to anyone else's conversation while at your own table. The staff, while friendly, isn't overbearing. The owner has been more than accomodating, and has remembered me--and that speaks for Rasoi's customer service in itself. read more

Their lunch specials are fantastic! So much food for a great price. I also love that they list gluten free and vegan options on their menu. It's so helpful for people with dietary concerns. Rasoi is another "so close to the east side, yet stuck in the bucket" businesses . And as such they join the company of The Garden Grille, Wildflour and that Chinese restaurant that appears to never have anyone in it. Rasoi is always busy the food is always fresh and scrumptious and the service is always fast and friendly. I would say to truly enjoy Rasoi, check out their deals such as a meal for two with a bottle of wine for under $50 ( Tuesday I think). The cocktails a fun and reasonably priced. The restaurant itself is colorful and smells delicious - not the curry-overload one would anticipate. The menu has a great variety and is self-explanatory. I ordered the Nirvana - basically a round platter with a little bit of everything - chicken dish, 2 delicious garlic shrimp, rice dessert and more. Mmmm. I've been jonesing for for solid Indian food for quite some time, and have had little hope. Then one day, a little birdie told me about Rasoi... Located in a fairly unassuming plaza, Rasoi offers many indian cuisine staples, while also serving a number of items I had never tried previously. Naan bread is one of my favorites, but add dates and coconut to it and now it's out-of-this-world! Service is always very friendly, albeit a bit slow from time to time even when it's not a prime dining time/day. However, it's never been too much of an issue. The beer selection is limited, but you're sure to find something to tickle your fancy. One minor complaint: the vegetarian Thalis is no longer offered (at least not every night), thus proving to be an inconvenience for my non-meat eating friends. Please bring it back!! read more

Came here last night (a Saturday) at 9.45pm, on the way back to New Haven. My friend said the food here was good, and she wasn't kidding! Service at 9.45 happens to be really speedy because they close the kitchen at 10.15pm. Our waiter was quite polite and catered to us in a timely and unrushed manner during our 45 minute meal. I know thalis are always a hit or miss, but I ordered a vegetable thali in haste, which was a mistake on my part. My thali did not come with yogurt, so I had to ask for it separately (maybe they forgot?). There was also a vegetable curry that contained mango chutney, which I didn't really care for. However, the saving graces of the thali were the naan, which was by far one of the best naans I've eaten outside of India, and the suji dessert. I enjoyed those things very much. The thali cost $13.99, which is a reasonable price. My friends ordered the potato and egg curry ($12.99) and the Hyderabadi chicken korma ($14.99), which were DELICIOUS. I was like, "ugh, me and my thali ambitions." In any case, this was a tasty albeit brief dinner in Pawtucket. If ever I'm around again, I'll be back! read more

I have to admit that after a not-so-good experience with Indian food at a different restaurant, I was hesitant to try Rasoi. I'm so glad that I did, though! We got take-out on a Friday night, and it was so good that I haven't stopped thinking about it. I ordered a side of the Cauliflower 67, which tasted like Buffalo Chicken-- out of this world good! Even my meat-eating sister agreed. I also had the Vegetable Biryani, which was so flavorful and lasted for another full meal. The bread basket was amazing as well. All around great dinner. Upbeat décor and delicious eats! I had a few types of naan... I believe cheese and potato. Both were scrumptious. I brought a friend of mine here who has never sampled Indian food and he loved it! Samosas, chicken tikki masala, lamb labadora... everything was great. The rice portion that they give for the meal is 1cup... which is not a lot if you're eating family style so you may have to order more... or they may just have to step their game up. Went for the first time, everything was terrific. We sat at the bar and watched the Indian version of MTV, which was pretty cool. It definitely added to the already good atmosphere. The food was extremely good and the exact amount of spice that we had requested. The wait staff were all friendly and right there to ask if everything was OK, which it was. I had a great experience working with Rasoi Restaurant/Indian accent Catering for my wedding last year at Lake Pearl, Wrentham. I was referred to them by our venue guys and it went right. Right from the beginning, Sandeep and Sanjiv's team was very welcoming and helpful. I had no more than 4 weekends to plan my wedding and Rasoi made a big favor of working with this tight schedule. After a few conversations, I did food tasting and it was good. Rasoi did all the changes it needed to make every dish on our menu just the way we wanted! A week before the wedding we wanted to make additions to the menu and Rasoi did it very well. On the day of the wedding, Rasoi delivered their promise! Food was my top priority among other things and everyone liked it. Food was right on time, quality was the same as what I experienced during the tasting. Quantity was food was optimum. Food setup was great. Overall quality of catering services was good! About half of my guests were non-Indians and everyone enjoyed the food. Firstly, i have to say that this is not the type of place you would expect to find in a strip mall. Nice modern decor, friendly service and an open kitchen are generally not hallmarks of an Indian place. The tamarind margaritas were great as well as the food! My go-to indian place in Providence. The restaurant is actually pretty nice, gives off a good ambiance. The tables are decently spaced apart so that you are not sitting on the lap of your neighbor. The waiters/waitresses have always been polite and accomodating. The place is good for large parties. We have had several birthdays here (more than 8 people) and they have always been able to accomodate. Now onto food and drink! My typical dish that I get here is the saag tofu. It comes with a side dish, which I usually get the mango vegetable curry. GET THE NAAN. They have a honey ginger option that is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! We have also gotten the samosas that are typical veggie-samosa goodness. The cauliflower appetizer is pretty tasty as well. Of course I have also gotten the chicken tikka dish, which is okay (pretty tasty but not like the saag). I have had friends who have gotten the sampler, that has looked awesome as well. Even though they are owned by the same people at Kabob and Curry, but I think Rasoi is much better. My husband disagrees with me on this, so I guess its just a matter of personal preference. I really like their bread and sometime get a 'to go' order of their naan. Good wine selection. Good service. I recommend their cooking classes. Rasoi is slightly more expensive and more vegetarian friendly cuisine. This is my go-to when I'm in the mood for Indian food. :) They are very veg and gluten free friendly with clearly marked menus, which makes ordering a breeze. I think they're also a wee bit cheaper than Kabob n Curry but don't quote me on that. Some of the menu items are similar but you get a bigger selection at Rasoi, including delicious GF starters like Dosas (a rice and lentil pancake). Recently, they added Rogan Josh to their menu, which is a lamb curry that is AMAZING. This is probably my favourite Indian dish and Rasoi's is spot on. I've also greatly enjoyed their Biriyani and Chicken Tikka Lababdar. The service is always friendly and efficient. I find ordering takeout to be a breeze and we've never had a problem so far. Overall, this is just a great restaurant and well worth a visit. If you're vegan or need to eat gluten free, you will find eating here to be stress free. Came here for Sunday Brunch, the food is very fresh and tasty! Love the Kim Chi Salad, Spinach with Potatoes, Lamb, & 2 types of Chicken dishes. They even have Shrimp on the buffet. The restaurant gets pretty full after 11:30am and they even bring fresh naan to the table. The only thing was they only had one dessert which looked overly greasy. originally from India, this food was definitely only mediocre. We started off with a nimboo pani, sweet lassi and a ginger pomegranate margarita. The nimboo pani and the sweet lassi were way too sweet, however both were at least made fresh. The margarita tasted good, but lacked alcohol. Next, for the appetizers, we ordered a dahi papdi and aloo tikki. The aloo tikki wasn't crisp and awfully sweet, overall just not good. Similarly, the dahi papdi was also sweet and lacked spices. For the main course, we ordered a saag paneer, the lentil of the day (yellow daal) and okra masala. The saag had too much cream and lacked salt. The daal also lacked flavor. The bhindi masala was delicious - by far the best dish. The bread (garlic naan, khasta roti and onion naan) and the service were very good. Overall, probably wouldn't come back again. read more

I am one of the many regulars at Rasoi's Sunday buffet. It's the largest Indian buffet I know: at least eight dishes (chicken, lamb, fish, shrimp, and vegetables dishes are almost always all featured); rice; naan served at the table; dessert. The food is authentic and expertly prepared. The range of the chefs is also incredible--there are often delicious new dishes and nice variations on favorite ones. This place is very close to getting four stars but not quite there. It is the best Indian food I have found in Providence so far (I've been living here for about eight months and have tried 5 or 6 Indian restaurants). I like the variety on the menu- although most of it is pretty standard they do have a few interesting picks including the thalis (a Gujerati traditional meal that comes with several different things). I had some kind of creamy veggie thing that was quite yummy. My wine was good also. The decor is pleasant. I noticed there are several vegan things on the menu which is nice. Although I was not jumping up and down, I did enjoy RASOI and will be back. read more
