    Chicken artichoke pasta

First time dining here. It was a plan B pick actually but had an A experience. Served quickly with a kind server. Cool little basement space that's bigger than you'd think from the outside front. My daily special 14 oz pork chop was fantastic. The cherry chipotle sauce is delicious. Spot on kraut and tasty bacon green beans. I didn't try my wife's dish but she finished it all so I assume it was good! She said it was very different then other pasta dishes but in a good way so consider that. We will be back here again for sure.

We enjoyed Rathskeller. Six of us came here this morning for breakfast. We were the first people here for breakfast. The host/server (Debbie) quickly put 2 tables together for us. Debbie was very helpful and attentive to our needs. I had the Hungry Man Omelet with 9-Grain Toast. It was very good. We'd eat at Rathskeller again.

Food and service just okay. The schnitzel was basically overcooked and undercooked pork chop. The potato salad was decent and the red cabbage sweet and vinegary. The mixed salad with ranch was low key delicious. The soup of the day was creamy potato bacon and was also spot on. No one really checked on us to see how the food tasted after it came out. Overall, mixed review, leaning towards not recommending it. Cute basement vibes though for the restaurant.

    Stuffed eggplant

We were excited to eat here for the first time. The restaurants is really unique and clean. My stuffed eggplant was good not great. My husband had the jaeger schnitzel and it was only okay. I also ordered a peach margarita and was disappointed to see them take a premixed bottled out of the cooler and pour it over ice. This is a brand that's easily bought at the grocery store for pretty cheap. I was expecting more from a peach margarita in Fredricksburg, known for their peaches. Service was okay but I think that our server had more tables than what she needed in order to give each table more attention. Totally not her fault. Not mad that we went here but likely won't be back.

    Red beans and rice

Amazing red beans and rice with a jalepeno cheddar brat and soft warm French bread. Can't go wrong with the good. Atmosphere isn't anything to write home about but if you're just looking for good food and good service with a reasonable price this is your place.

I would call this the most known hole in the wall with an amazing breakfast food. Upon entry it seems tight but there is also seating in the back, service is quick and I would recommend anyone visit. I will be coming back.

    Turkey Bacon Melt with Fries

The wife and I decided to drive up to Fredericksburg today to get out of the house. After walking half the strip, we decided to try our Rathskeller Bistro which is in the basement of Das Küche shop which is an old hospital. I ordered their Bloody Mary (spicy) to start off with a class of water. It was really good The wife ordered the Turkey Bacon Melt with fries. She only ate half the sandwich and pulled the velvety cheese off because it wasn't really melted into the sandwich like she wished it was. I tried it and it was kind of plain but tasty. I think the sandwich would have been much better if the cheese was melted into the sandwich and they used provolone or pepper jack cheese. So only 3 stars for this sandwich. I had the Kraut plate which came with two halves of two different sausages and a small portion of jäger schnitzel, German potatoes, pickled beets and sauerkraut. I absolutely loved this plate and I highly recommend. Oh and the stone ground mustard was really good! It will definitely clear out your sinuses so go lightly. The service was really good and we didn't have any wait to get a table and short wait for the food

First time in Fredericksburg, and this place was a great first stop! The atmosphere was very cozy and intimate. Our server, Jorge, was great and checked on us frequently! The food and drinks were really good, and we were served our food so fast too!

Sliced American cheese on the dip sandwich

Writing this makes me sad as I've been wanting to try Rathskeller for a while. I ordered the hill country dip sandwich (French dip). It was way below mediocre- bland and tasteless. The worst part was the menu said it had cheddar cheese on it. Instead, I was greeted with the unnatural, obnoxious yellow of sliced American cheese. It made the sandwich taste like plastic, which, to its credit, was the only real flavor. The au jous tasted like watered down beef broth without any actual flavor. The ONLY edible thing on my plate was the sweet potato fries which were actually pretty good. My sons ordered schnitzel, which was decent, but a small portion and not as good as others you can get in town. Suffice it to say, I won't be back.

What a perfect place for a Rathskeller! Going below ground in Texas in the old hospital building is a brilliant way to stay cooler in the Texas sunshine. The wine and the German food was delicious and we've eaten food all over the world and we really enjoyed our meal. Check it out on main in Fredericksburg. They also have a terrific breakfast too . The German phrase for "bon appétit" is "Guten Appetit!". It translates to "Enjoy your meal!" or "Have a good appetite!

Each time we visit Fredericksburg we eat brekfast at Rathskeller. They do a good job cooking breakfast. Like the history of the place too.

Unfortunately, this experience felt less like a restaurant opening and more like a dress rehearsal no one stopped. First problem: location confusion. We went to what turned out to be their second spot--which, crucially, was not called Nurys on the sign. Same ownership, new space, old identity crisis. Walking in felt like entering a building that hadn't yet decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. The lingering aroma? A strange duet of fish, antiseptic, and industrial cleaning agents. Not hunger-inducing. More "urgent care with a fryer." There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted. This one wasn't terrible--it was worse. It was forgettable. And that's the real disappointment.

Right away, the service felt off. Our waitress didn't even ask if we wanted drinks before jumping straight to, "Are you ready to order food?" Then she disappeared for long periods, even though we were basically her only table besides one other couple. The food was extremely underwhelming -- basic, barely warm, and nothing memorable. On top of that, there were so many flies inside that we were nonstop swatting them away. And to make matters worse, there was a bug in my drink when it was served to me. That was pretty much the final straw. Overall, a very forgettable and disappointing experience. We probably won't come again, and I would not recommend it.

I ordered the Eggs Benedict, substituting bacon for ham, with a biscuit and gravy on the side. The Eggs Benedict was good. I loved the unexpected touch of Swiss cheese, which added a nice twist to a classic dish. The hollandaise was a little on the sour side, but the bacon was cooked perfectly. The biscuit and gravy was the real star of my meal, so good that I almost wish I had ordered it as my main! Definitely getting that next time. My husband went for The Big Ass Sandwich and loved it. Fair warning- it lives up to its name. It's big, it's messy, and it's absolutely worth it. He said the same thing I was thinking: we need to come back. Blake greeted me and he was very friendly. I sat at the bar and ordered a burger and fries, chicken wings, and onion rings. They had one cook, and he was pretty cool. This was definitely a "locals" bar, but the staff made me feel comfortable. The food took a while to come out, but when it did, it was fresh and hot. Everything tasted ok, but the burger and onion rings, which had been recommended by the bartender, were really good. The bar was well stocked, and the beer was cold. They had plenty of patio seating, and they host live music. The bar area and the bathrooms are in need of some TLC. Parking on Main Street can be a challenge. We ordered blue cheese with the wings and got ranch. Our celery was probably previously frozen as we could bend it together and touch each end without it breaking! Told the server about this when we asked for new sauces. He replied, sorry... he took the two unopened sauces and brought two blue cheese out. Not replacing the third. I know it's petty, but I did not realize that my water would come in a bottle, with no ice. I asked for ice he brought it out. I also asked if there was a charge for the bottle of water. He said yes. It would've been nice to know that before I ordered. We were very surprised at the end when we asked him if we could get two checks for our table, he shared with us he couldn't, it had to be on one rather than cause a scene we decided to deal with it. At the end, we ask if we could get a receipt, he shared the best he could do is to let us come up and take a picture of the screen. Little bit disappointed in the entire experience as we are here from the state of Ohio and had hoped for a bit of a different experience. Overall, your outside service area was well done with plenty of room for seating and it was a nice touch having the haters.
