What a great find! The restaurant space is very small so most people order to go but my best friend and I decided to dine in. We were cheerfully greeted by the staff and you pay first before sitting down and waiting for your food. She and I got the sushi platter for two (48 pieces) and we were STUFFED! You have to call and order the platter at least two hours in advance but it is so worth the price. At the restaurant they also have a menu on the wall that showed they have other platter choices. Employees here were all so welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Our dishes came out in no time and we enjoyed everything. Prices are reasonable and they are generous with the portions. Anyway, I'm sure you aren't looking up a review to see how cute his daughter is...the location is somewhat rather tricky to navigate. I will get that because the parking right in front of store is always full and it's like playing the lottery and often you're going to be like the Knicks and Zion (oof, too soon?). Anyways, parking is ample on the other side where the main parking is in Springfield Plaza and you can walk through the back. This is also not a place where you take a huge group. Maybe that'll deter you guys if you want a big party there. You might be able to if you call in advance but space isn't big enough for that. It is nice and quaint so if you want some quiet, it's a great spot! I know a lot of people get it to-go and this place delivers so there's many ways to get your food! I prefer the more cafe intimate setting but that might be just me. Okay, now the food. I love it as everything is fresh! I have yet to have a bad piece of sushi and the best part about this place is it's super affordable! I've had sushi from other places that charge more and yet this continues to be my measuring stick because of accessibility. But, they also have other food than just sushi! This place used to be so good! We ordered the fantastic four platter to go and it was terrible. Not as fresh as usual. The flavor was off and the sushi rolls kept falling apart. Not to mention the avocados the used were all brown. I am so disappointed because they weren't even busy. I'll have to find a new sushi spot. The name got me curious, so I had to try it out! "RAWR" has a special place in my heart from middle school days. I like that the food here is fairly priced and comes out quickly even thought they are served on foam plates and bowls. I didn't like this very much but considering the quality, it was decent! I was surprised because the curry katsu and and their bowls are pretty good. I also like their sushi rolls, very simple and delicious. The interior is very cute and authentic looking with their simple design. Although the restaurant is rather small, it's meant to walk in and out. I find it really interesting that the food here is Japanese but it seems that the owner or managers/employees are all of Thai descent. I ordered for pickup. There's no place to sit down in the restaurant. I think they shut seating down since COVID started. I ordered two maki rolls: white tuna and salmon, and the spider roll (spicy soft shell crab). I'm amazed at how much fish they give you in a maki roll, which is the least expensive roll. It was a very hefty portion of fish in each piece. For the spider roll, it was delicious! It's labeled as spicy, but I would describe it as mild. Still, extremely good! I had always been intrigued by the name, RAWR Sushi, eventually I made my way to try it out, and it's been my favorite sushi place since. The owner is friendly, when my family and I had only been there maybe 2-3 times at most, he recognized us each time. This has contributed to us returning for the past 4+ years. It's a small, fast food-like experience, where you order at the counter and decide to-go or sit down. There aren't many seats available, which probably means to-go is the popular option here. I ordered the sake don and spicy tuna roll and my brother ordered the unagi don and shrimp tempura roll. The sake don definitely beat my expectations. The salmon was sooo good and almost had a buttery texture. The spicy tuna roll was solid as well. Not the best quality, but I did appreciate that the sushi was actually spicy compared to most places. The unagi don was forgettable. It was too salty. The shrimp tempura roll was average as well. Overall I had a solid experience here. It's a great place for inexpensive, solid quality sushi/dons. Cant give half stars or I would have given this place 3.5. I hate giving mediocre reviews but I cant justify more stars when both my hubby and son didnt even want to finish it. We've definitely had better and maybe the portion of rice was more than the other ingredients. The seaweed salad was good and was consistent with other sushi places. The takoyaki (octopus balls) was yummy. I ordered the sashimi app, California rolls, spider, dragon, and snowman. They were just ok. My husband didnt like the dragon which he had before...he said it tasted different. And he didnt like the snowman either. There's finally a fast casual Japanese restaurant in Springfield now! Rawr is located behind the Hard Times and next to the Flame Kabob in Springfield Plaza. We've ordered carry out from here once, and we dined in once. In addition to sushi rolls (no matter the type of fish, they're all the same price - $4.50 each roll), they also serve bento boxes (with rice, miso soup, salad, and a California roll), entree bowls, ramen, and appetizers. The takoyaki was pretty impressive and a steal for $4. My boyfriend enjoyed the tonkatsu ramen (only $8) and I inhaled my [crispy!] pork katsu over rice! We also ordered the spicy crunchy salmon roll and the spicy crunchy white tuna roll, which were also above average. The prices of the food here range from $2 to $12, which is fairly cheap for this area. The quality of the food is great (it is fast casual so don't expect any fancy presentation) and the service here is very friendly. Super disappointing. It was one of the worst sushi experience I've ever had. My husband ordered the bento box with chicken. The chicken was super slimy, and full of fat. I ordered three rolls, California roll, spicy tuna and shrimp tempura -- again SUPER disappointing and inedible. The shrimp tempura wasn't even fully cooked and had uncooked batter all over it.
