So delicious. They have such great quality food. I went here prior to covid and it was great. Post covid the wait was a little over an hour and super busy. Understandable- just don't be a rush when you go here. The Mexican bowl is to die for and the pancakes are probably the best pancakes I've ever had they're buttery and fluffy and came with a blueberry jam. The matcha tea is so delicious as well. Hot chocolate was a bit disappointing. It tasted just like pure chocolate that I was drinking, like a little too rich and the portion of the cup was much smaller than when I went in March. And it has another distinction: One of the noisiest places to eat, especially on Sundays, when we stopped there for a late lunch just a week ago. When we walked in, there were about a dozen people and unruly small children waiting for tables and a young woman with a tablet assisting them. But the wait for my wife and I was short, and we were seated in a corner with a view of the noisy main dining room, including four couples who brought their own wine and were shouting at their mates just a couple a feet away across the table. The noise was deafening, but service was efficient and the food we ordered was tasty: A cup of chicken soup with small matzo balls ($5), a Caesar Salad topped with terrific Grilled Jumbo Shrimp ($15.50, including a supplement for the shrimp), and overstuffed Fish Tacos ($17) made with corn tortillas. Tea, hot or cold, was $3.50. My only complaint besides the noise is that there was so much crispy codfish and other fillings in each of the 3 tacos, they basically fell apart as I was eating them. Maybe serve 5 tacos with less filling. One reason this upscale diner -- which serves breakfast, brunch and dinner -- is so noisy is the white tile walls and tile flooring used throughout, including on a lower level down a flight of stairs where the restrooms are located. I came here over the weekend with my gf for a late lunch/brunch. I was hesitate to come here because of my prior poor experience at the Montclair location. I agree that this spot is a better spot to eat for American/brunch spot in the area. Since, we came after noon the wait time was only around 5-10 minutes. They did not seat us in an abnormally tight spot just to entertain our hungry and to make a quick 40 bucks. An older couple waltz right in and seated themselves at the bar near the hot choco makers. I did not know if we could do that but we wanted a table anyways. Overall, the portion size is smaller than we preferred when we go out to eat. My gf's cesar salad was well done. The cheese was finely grated and my gf could not pick them out. She is not a big fan of sharp cheeses. I ordered the French toast and the omelet with caramelized onions and chorizo. Don't expect gigantic slices of challah bread for the F toast here. The F toasts are nugget size milky/buttery holy sweet goodness. The omelet is in the style that Jacque Pepin does with lots of beating and butter to make the eggs silky and fluffy. The home fries were more like big sautéed seasoned potatoes. The omelet also came with multigrain toast that went really well with the free strawberry jam. The décor is worth noting and I do appreciate it. The bathrooms are downstairs and are very clean. The service was very attentive. Water was replenished often and empty plates taken away really fast. I do wish the table for 2 was a little bit larger and they were spaced out more. I guess that was the case then the wait time would have been longer and less people could be served. Too bad they close so early. I'm not sure they could compete with the other restaurants that mainly do lunch and dinner service. I'd come back here and only during off peak hours if possible. Parking may be hard to come by during the weekends. I don't love the place but I definitely do not hate it (ahem... Montclair's location). read more

Wanted to try a new burger spot in the Ridgewood area that had outdoor seating and was dog friendly, so we heard about Raymond's and gave it a shot. The food was good, the staff was super friendly, but the pricing was way to high for the amount of food you get. $15 for a 7oz cheeseburger with french fries is way too pricey. I get it's upper Bergen County and in Ridgewood but there's much better burger restaurants around that have aged dried angus beef burgers and are much better, especially with this pricing. The turkey burger was average at best my friend said and the triple decker turkey club sandwich didn't satisfy my other friend. He left there still hungry. It's a very small limited menu with not a lot of food options. For the pricing you pay here, you can find multiple other American food eateries and burger spots in the area that have better food and a lot more options on the menu. read more

We had a very pleasant experience at Raymond's, nothing to complain about! Our waiter was so friendly and personable, joking with us and also giving recommendations. My husband said his coffee was "some of the best diner coffee he'd ever had," and he's a bit of a coffee snob, so that was high praise. My sister asked if they could do chocolate chip pancakes as they weren't on the menu, and they were happy to oblige. Our breakfast order came with a ton of food and no one had any complaints about any of it. The setting was also nice, the glass bottle wall is lovely. A cute go to place for brunch in the heart of downtown ridgewood. Indoor and out door seating was perfect and super dog friendly. The seasonal butternut squash soup was fall in a bowl. The restaurant looks pretty good from the outside, but the inside looks like a poor attempt at an old school diner/luncheonette. The menu is very limited and prices for breakfast are somewhat high. I was also amused that the menu has an "All Day Breakfast" section that is served til 4pm. My friendly waitress had a laugh at that too. I ordered an omelette with bacon and cheese. Surprisingly, the omelette came with toast and home fries. Menu didn't say I'd get those. Home fries were ok, but some of it was a bit undercooked. The toast they gave was a multi-grain whole wheat. It was OK. The omelette was very fluffy, and the ingredients were good. Tried some of the french toast. That was very good. Very different from the usual french toast you find. This was my second visit to Raymond's while visiting a fi end in North Jersey! The staff here is always my favorite part. Our waiter was so kind and was back with a fresh pot of coffee right before we needed it. I absolutely love this cute breakfast spot. The Mexican infused brunch is filled with so many awesome options and always makes it hard to decide what to get! This time I got the burrito bowl and it was so good! It had so much flavor to it and was extremely filling. My friend got the burrito and loved it as well. Came here on a summer Friday morning for breakfast. We were seated right away and were waited on consistently. I ordered the Norwegian Benedict that had absolutely delicious smoked salmon and the hollandaise sauce was superb. However, the home fries that came with it is not really my type of home fries but that could be a personal thing The aesthetics of the restaurant were really cool and there were plenty of outdoor seating in the shade and in the sun. The restaurant is located on a corner so it's easy to spot and parking is a breeze. The menu selection for breakfast is quite small and I wish there were more a variety. Upscale retro diner is how I'd describe Raymond's. Really interesting menu with a lean towards some tex-mex flare on their breakfast and lunch menu. The omelette I had - I chose chorizo sausage and goat cheese filling - was amazing! The hot spiced cider was really good too - nice on a cold day like today (week before Christmas). Everyone at our table was happy with their selections - great burgers, very crispy shoestring fries (almost as good as my Mom's Greek fries), fluffy and decent sized quiche portion, and the potatoes that came with my omelette were awesome - diners in the area wish they could cook their home fried potatoes as good as these were! Kids were happy too - five stars from them (OK, my seven year old tugging on my coat so I remember to tell you all his scrambled eggs were excellent - a yelper-in-training). They make their French toast home-made with French baguette's that are lightly toasted, served with fresh berries. The maple syrup is unlike other kinds and pairs perfectly with the dish. I'd give 4.5 stars for the food if that were possible. The reason for the 2 stars is the service. The servers are friendly, but every time I am there it is like they literally forget me. Today it took 45 minutes to get two BLT sandwiches - ridiculous. Once the sandwiches arrived, no one ever checked back with us. I was seated outside, and got tired of waiting and had to go in and track down an employee to ask for the check. By the time I got the check, I had been there for almost and hour and half, for two simple sandwiches! This is not a covid related issue, the service is consistently slow and inattentive. Came here around 9:45 on a Tuesday morning, finding parking wasn't too bad and there were quite a few parties seated inside. My friend and I chose a well-lit table for two in the front portion of the restaurant adjacent to the windows, rather than the dim cushion seating or the booths towards the back. Most of the bar seats were empty. Service was friendly but very, very unattentive. We were served water by a waitress and then we had to flag down another waiter to take our order. My friend ordered a matcha latte and french toast, and I got the Norwegian eggs benedict and chai. The french toast was obviously not made with sliced loaf bread, which I'm used to, but rather chunks sliced from a baguette? Personally, I believe this elevated the dish, but it isn't anything to REALLY rave about. The matcha was apparently too strong for her tastes. My eggs were just slightly overcooked; I couldn't do a classic 'yolk porn' spill when I cut into them. The smoked salmon, potato panckes, and arugula underneath were good. All in all, I cleaned my plate- partially because it tasted good and partially because the portion was a bit smaller than I expected. Yogic chai was average. I got the small size for $3.50 and it was refreshing and enough to be spread out for a few sips throughout my meal. Again, when we were finished it was very difficult to flag down a server for our check, which seemed strange because they were all standing around. I'm very sure I made eye contact with our first waitress, who was then stamping placemats (with the restaurant's name), but I suppose she felt she only had one chance to stop stamping, which was to serve us the complimentary water. An attendant not in a uniform or apron was standing, waiting for patrons to come in and was POINTEDLY avoiding my eyes AND my waving arms. The man behind the bar had to attend to us. Sigh. The updated Breakfast Burrito, French Toast and Pancakes are all disappointing and we're much better before. When I asked if the chef would be willing to make the old burrito recipe I was told by the waitstaff that he was unwilling to makes changes and might get mad if we ask.
