Similar to what others have said, the real highlight of the shop, in my opinion, are their cream puffs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the outer layer was thin yet had a nice little crunch to it. We tried the classic milk, cookies & cream pistachio and ube flavors. Our favorite was the pistachio by far, which had such a unique yet decadent flavor and our second favorite was the milk cream puff. There's not much else I can say other than you really have to go here and try the desserts yourself. If you're a fan of Japanese desserts that are rich yet not too sweet, you'll be a fan of Keki.

The barista also forgot to ask whether I wanted it sweetened so the first sip was quite bitter with little tea flavor. All in all, I had it, I tried it, and will probably not get it again.

Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! FYI - there are two unisex restrooms in the rear for customers to use with really cute wallpapers too.

Ray's Candy Store is a Lower East Side institution. Ray has been serving Belgian fries, soft serve, egg creams, burgers, hot dogs and so much more to his customers for more than three decades. The Belgian fries are delicious and in gigantic quantities for the price. An $8 extra large order is likely enough for five people. They are accompanied by any number of sauces from regular ketchup, to pesto, to chipotle mayonnaise The soft serve is especially tasty. It is both thick and flavorful, unlike a lot of bargain soft serves in the vein of McDonalds. If you're feeling adventurous try the Obama coffee where, for only $1, Ray will drop a dollop into a fresh cup of joe. Obama burgers are a popular item as well and excellent tasting for the cheap cheap price! Ray's certainly isn't gourmet dining, but all the food is simple and delightful. Ray himself is a very kind man who will greet you with "Hello brothers! Hello sisters! Hallelujah!" He is always excited to meet and serve new customers and is quite an interesting character himself. Unfortunately, due to increasing gentrification in the area and accompanying rising rents Ray's business is increasingly hard to maintain. So... stop into this L.E.S. store and get a taste of what the neighborhood is all about. At the same time, you'll be helping to maintain its character and put food on Ray's table! I swung by, enticed by the promise of classic desserts, and found myself trying an NYC-classic egg cream for the first time. Opting for chocolate, its taste was perfectly fine - nothing groundbreaking, but satisfying nonetheless. The real star of the show, however, were the beignets. Served warm and fresh, they were a delightful treat, embodying the comforting essence of what you'd hope for in such a dessert. Given the prices, which are undeniably affordable, the portions received were impressively generous, making Ray's a great spot for those on a budget. However, the ambiance of the shop leaves much to be desired; additionally, the service encountered during my visit was less than stellar. The staff, while not outright rude, didn't exude the warmth or friendliness you'd expect from a neighborhood dessert spot. This lack of welcoming atmosphere somewhat dampened the overall experience. Who doesn't love Ray and his old school NYC shop? Egg creams, ice cream and now he will deep fry practically anything! I hang out at ray's all the time and he is a huge part of the neighborhood and loved dearly. The portions are HUGE and if you are lucky you can catch Ray working at night and hear his amazing life stories. One of a kind...so happy he is still here as I met him when I was 15! If you like supporting old school diner joints this is your place. Even as you walk in you see a bunch newspaper clippings posted on the walls. This isn't your average ice cream store. It's always nice to be welcomed. Before I chose what to order, I first asked if I were to get a cinnamon bun would I have the option to get it warmed up. The employee said no.That honestly surprised me because I've never been to a bakery that won't warm up a cinnamon bun or other pastries. The cinnamon bun looked extremely dry like it's been sitting there for long hours and just needed a little warm up to look ooey gooey again. A warm pastry makes a big difference, and it might be something worth considering offering in the future. Since I didn't get a chance to really look at the pastries during my first visit because I was with my child and we were in a rush that day, I took about a minute to browse the display this time literally 1 min or 2 mins the most. The shop was completely empty, so there wasn't anyone waiting behind me. While I was looking, the employee just stood there the entire time silently. Not once did he offer a recommendation, mention what was popular, or try to make conversation. Instead, when I finally decided on a large chocolate chip cookie, he gave me a look that made me feel uncomfortable. It came across as if he was thinking, "Wow, you took that long just to choose a cookie?" That's genuinely how his expression looked. It made me feel judged and rushed over something that should have been a relaxed experience. I've worked in the restaurant industry for 5 years, so I know customer service can make or break someone's experience. Even on days when conversation didn't come naturally, it was still part of the job to engage with customers, make them feel comfortable, answer questions, offer recommendations, and break the ice. Or even just asking how the persons day is going. Those small interactions go a long way in creating a welcoming atmosphere. Customers shouldn't feel judged for taking a moment to decide what they want, especially if I'm going to spend my money there, If anything, that's the perfect opportunity to connect with customers, and make them feel welcome. I hope the bakery considers encouraging employees to be more engaging and personable, because positive customer interactions are a big part of what brings people back. Unfortunately, this visit completely changed my impression of the bakery. I won't be returning because I didn't feel comfortable with the atmosphere. Here, the churro fell a bit flat on its own and really needed a dipping sauce to carry it. That said, the churros do come out hot and crispy, which is a definite plus. The atmosphere, however, was not it. The space felt chaotic with disruptive patrons singing and dancing as though they were at a concert. All this is happening while club music plays in the background. It's not the most relaxing environment, though the staff was friendly and welcoming.

It was one of the last rolls on the tray which I thought was a good sign, but this one fell flat for me. I will try them again, but it's almost $10 with tax it is a waste of money if you don't like it.
