The prices aren't bad because the slices are big! I got 2 cheese pizza slices and my bf ordered a medium eggplant sandwich. The sandwich comes with a bag of chips. The only complaint was that the water cup had some dust floating in it and there were no other cups to grab because they hadn't been refilled in the 30 minutes that we spent there. I understand the reviews of being cheap and sold by the slice. I understand it being one of very few options in and around UCI that serves decent pizza. But overall I gotta say the product was a little subpar. The crust was undercooked, the toppings sparse, and the overall pizza 3 stars at best. Maybe it was a bad night, maybe it was at 5pm on a Sunday it was off its A game. But for $57 for 3 pizzas I expected far better given the reviews. If all you want is slices for a few bucks of decent pizza, fine, but I expect more from my pizza then that, so moving on. read more

Not too happy with this place. When I received my pizza it was cold and they explained they didn't have a way to heat it up. Which made me a bit confused on how they make the pizza. I had the one slice salad and a drink. The salad was ok but when I asked for two types of dressing one for my salad one for my pizza it was 50 cents extra. They also charged me 50 cents for a side of cold pickled jalapeños. All and all I won't come back. I wait for my kids and sit next to this place every week. Sad that I won't be going back read more

Ray's the best! The customer service is great and they've got the best tasting pizza I've had in Irvine so far. The lunch special is great. 2 slices of cheese or pepperoni pizza and a small drink for about $6. This will become a regular lunch spot for me now. read more

My husband and I stopped by to try a slice of this New York pizza joint but weren't too impressed. We got 2 slices of pizza and a drink for $6, but the pizza wasn't all that big and was probably my least favorite New York pizza I've ever had (I don't even think I should call it that). Better than Digorno but that's about it. We had a decent time watching a few minutes of Iron Man 2 while eating our respective slice and planning on where to go for a better meal. First time ordering take out (2 pizzas) from Rays and VERY disappointed. My order was not ready at the time requested and Ray refused to honor a community discount card saying that it had expired. I showed him the expiration date of 9/1/18, which was still over a month away and he still refused saying that he only honors the card during the school year. I came here because I like to support small businesses that give back to the community but due to his rude behavior, I will not be back. There are plenty of other pizza places in town. read more

I've been eating Ray's pizza for 25 years, since I was a teenager. No kidding. And I always love it. Now that I have kids, they love it too. You always get your pizza with a smile from Ray. The pizza is fresh, thin-crust, and covered with Italian spices. It has just the right amount of saltiness and grease. Our favorites are plain cheese or sausage/peppers/mushrooms. First, don't trust the website.... it is totally Inadequate, shows one price for pizza, but when you call you will be told there are 4 sizes. The man who answered didn't recognize any of the names of the pizza on the website. He dismissed me saying I was at the wrong website, but I was at the one he said, the 1 linked from this yelp site, and it is exactly the same if you type it in..... rayspizzainc.com we ordered half supreme and half veggie, medium, which should habe been 17.95. They put only pepperoni on it, vegis on the whole thing, charged for a 5 topping pizza, total was $22! There was no receipt. The pizza crust was supposed to be thin crust but was not. And the whole thing was bland, needed salt. The worst part was the total dismissal by the man about the missing information on the website. Won't be ordering another pizzas there! Ate here the other night with my BF who is from New York City and couldn't believe his ears when he heard Ray's opened here in California. We both enjoyed the pizza and I appreciated the thinner crust, light sauce, and light cheese and having most of the flavor come from herbs and light toppings, just like I have had in Italy. I asked my BF if the pizza met his very picky standards and he said it was a lot like the pizza he grew up with. We will be coming back again and again. Closest to downtown Manhattan pizza as you're gonna get in Irvine. Very tasty, and decent prices. A lot of pizza in Orange County tastes like cardboard with sauce and generic cheese. BEST PIZZA PLACE EVER hands down. Me and my homies from Whittier come here whenever they come down since it's just that amazing. I think this is as close as you will get to NY style pizza in Orange County. It's quite good, especially if you order by the slice, and get it warm. I'm old school, and only like cheese pizza (after all, that's how pizza was meant to be eaten). The guy behind the counter (whose real name is probably not Ray) is a good guy -- warm, friendly, and always remembers me (even though I only eat there once every few months). Good place. read more

Ray's has been around for as long as I can remember - nothing really has changed. Their pizza and spaghetti are outstanding and they carry Italian brew if you're interested. It really is a hole in the wall place that's conveniently located across from Peet's. I hope this establishment sticks around. read more
