We live right around the corner and love to support any local businesses. We have hit this place three times now and have been happy each occasion. Yup, it's NYC style pizza and I'm a Chicago guy but, they do a very good job. Crust is doughy and flavorful and toppings plentiful. Service is fast and friendly - and it is definitely a family run place! Prices are right as well. One knock - the wings are on the small side but we like the flavor so not much of an issue for us. Overall - Very good local pizza joint we are happy to put in the rotation! read more

Tried this place for lunch and what a disappointment I ordered two slices of the monster pizza and one of the kids behind the counter reached over and grabbed two old leather read pieces of cheese pizza had been sitting on the counter for lunch for God knows how long dumped a pile of toppings in the middle of the two slices slid it into the oven for just a few minutes and took it out and handed it to me it was literally still cold when I got it I do not recommend this place read more

I'm actually pretty shocked there aren't that many 5 stars. Well, I've been going here since they opened and I actually consider them to have one of the most authentic New York slices here. Not like the fake "Grimaldi's" New York style, but the kind that everyone references. Growing up in NYC myself, I thought it was good. I've tried the chains of Rays and well... they're a chain restaurant, I'll leave it at that! Lol. The owner of this pizzeria is actually blood relative of the original rays in NYC.l and is INDEPENDENTLY owned. Makes sense now! I didn't expect it to be like Rays pizza in NY but I ordered a white pizza and it had absolutely no taste whatsoever!!! I have had nothing but awesome experiences delivering for Rays Pizza on Greenway Road. The staff is always lively and friendly. This was the first time I delivered for Deer Valley location and was appalled at the way the female staff treated me. Very much disrespectful, despite that--- I gave the restaurant a good driver rating ---- until I saw that Rays rated ME poorly. Well here is my response---- drivers talk, and I'll be sure to let my colleagues know of this experience because we deserve to be treated with respect as your staff does. Frivolous Negative ratings puts us at risk of not driving and for many of us, this is all we have to feed our families. In the future---Use that thumbs down for truly truly legitimate incidents. Love this place so far. Discovered it about two weeks ago and have gone there for the lunch special (2 slices of cheese and a drink for $5.75,) three times already. Only reason I didn't give it 5 is because I haven't tried anything else yet. We were going to pick up a couple of large pizzas and wings today for the Cardinals game, but realized they are closed on Sundays, which is cool. Will have to wait another day to try the whole pizzas, wings and subs. The sauce and crust are incredible; which is what I think makes any pizza separate itself. Will have to post a review and hopefully add a star once I try the whole shabang. But definitely recommend! read more

True NY Brooklyn Pizza Pie! I grew up in Upstate NY and the Brooklyn Pie was the best pizza in the world. I would go all over the USA and have some great pizza but the elusive Brooklyn Pie i could not find outside of NY Area...until tonight! I call and talked to one of the guy's and i felt like i was in NY. Very Friendly guy and called me "Boss" as we talked about NY Pizza. I drove 20 minutes to pick it up as my wife said the reviews were the best in the Valley. They sell slices and I knew i would have to have a piece for the drive home. The guy I talked to on the phone shook my hand and introduced himself ( sorry to have forgotten his name ) really friendly...and then said something to one of the guys in Italian and next thing i knew i had a box with some slices in it. I tried to pay the girl at the register and she said it was taken care of. I gave her a $5 tip and said to say thanks. The pieces were huge and the pizza was fantastic!!! I truly felt the spirit and taste of NY. I watched how this guy ran the very busy restaurant while i waited...and being in the restaurant business myself in the past i would have no issue recommending Ray's on Deer Valley to anyone. Fantastic first experience...and i will go again. Next time I will have the name of the guy who took great care of me...The NY Way :-) Treat yourself to Ray's...well worth the trip. PS a friend of mine who grew up in Italy and then Chicago came over and ate 4 pieces. I asked him how he liked a true Brooklyn Pie...he said that it was a serious 8 out of 10. This restaurant is filthy. Every sqare inch needs a DEEP cleaning. There are grim smudges on almost every surface in this place. They need to close down for a couple of days and scrub everything. read more

Really the last time I ate pizza from here it was greasy but good. Tonight was a whole new story since I did not get to eat pizza. Stopped in on my way home to pick up some slices of pizza it was 3 hours before they closed. I was told I would have to order a whole pizza( after the kid looked in the oven) which is a huge NO. I try to support local places but this place lost my family and friends as customers. Hope they make money during the week since they are not open on Sundays (huge football day) and can not sell slices of pizza three hours before they close. I guess if you have to order whole pizza it is more time for the employees to be on their phones. read more

My hot man and I stopped by this location a few months ago. I believe it is family owned and the staff was extremely friendly. We each ordered a beer, some wings, and 2 hot sandwiches. The food was TASTY! I knew it was going to be good because we were there during lunchtime and most of the customers were regulars. Great lunch special. Got two slices of cheese and a drink for around $6 with tax. Crust was terrific with great crisp and no flop. Perfect ratio of sauce and cheese and the size of the slices were pretty generous and came out HOT. Loved it. Does not compare to the other rays pizza at all. I wouldnt consider this a quality pizza joint at all. Ordered a calzone and the calzone had no brushed butter, garlic or parmesan on top, just plain and dry and they used chicken thigh meat instead of chicken breast meat. Did not enjoy the kids helping me out either, not a professional look. Would much rather stick to the rays pizza on 59th and greenway. read more
