I have very mixed feelings about this place. It is exactly what you would expect for a tavern. It's clean with darker tones, pleasant people and they check on how your experience was. All of that was positive. The food was tasty, and we all enjoyed our food. The bad outweighs the good. Our food took a long time. I mean 45 minutes for four people, one being a kids meal. I just had a chicken sandwich and two others had the roast beef sandwich. I ordered fried mushrooms they didn't come out until after my meal when I reminded them that I ordered them (I was kinda hoping for them as an appetizer). My husband asked if the sandwich came with au jus, and the waitress said "no, they are weird about that here". We didn't get horseradish with the sandwiches. It was just a strange experience to get no au jus or horseradish, or the appetizer, and have to wait so long for the meal. I felt like we were inconveniencing them for eating there. The food was good enough that I will most likely try again, but I'm really hoping I'll be able to update my review with a more positive experience. read more

I think his name was Nick, and the bartender, came in as non locals near closing in a Sunday night, was very friendly and accommodated my family (a group of 8) with 2 children under 21 who usually aren't allowed that late, and kindly served us amazing food! My husband and I are regulars at this restaurant. Why? Because the food is always good. I absolutely love the Greek salad! Crispy greens, black olives, grilled chicken, feta and pita bread. It's always fresh. In my opinion, the wings are the best I've had. Extra crispy if you ask, and sauced perfectly. Try the sweet hot wings-perfectly sweet with just enough heat. The food is classical American. Consistent in the flavors. They have nightly specials- Prime Rib on Saturday. Get there early because it gets busy on the weekends. Never an issue with staff. Stopped in this evening on the way home and glad we did. There were a lot of cars in the lot and we didn't know how big the place was. There were plenty of tables and a couple bar spots. We sat at the bar and our bartender Kayla said placing an order take a bit as she also had tables she was working. No problem we said. I ordered the beef and cheddar and the missus had the chicken fingers with sweet chili sauce. In less than 15 minutes we had our food. The missus loved the fingers and fries. But the star was the beef and cheddar! The beef was at least an 11/2 inches thick and it was the best roast beef I've had! It melted in my mouth! Wow! Kudos!! read more

You have to sign in like you are at a nail salon. I didn't realize that until I was waiting for a half an hour and two parties who came in after me had been seated. The waitress acted like I was dumb for not knowing about the sign in. I got too hungry and decided to leave but before I did I complained to the bartender. She was nice and told me that someone just left and the table would be cleaned off right away so that we could be seated. I waited a bit longer but at that point my daughter really wanted to leave. We went home and ate salad. Have you ever been to a restaurant where the sign says wait to be seated but a couple of feet away there is actually a sign in? It was a first for me! We happened to be visiting family and stopped in to get some takeout. While waiting at the bar for our food we were definitely made to feel unwelcome. Another patron asked where we from. When we responded with Philadelphia he said "where are you really from, what country?". What???? I grew up here. I'm sure he was referring to my husband who was born and raised in Philly. We have been to Ray's many times as we live close by. After the rude service tonight we won't go back. The guy that seats people is a real piece of work. He was extremely rude to my husband when he went to pick up our order tonight. My husband called 2 hours in advance for our fish frys because he had to go to work. When he arrived they weren't ready and he basically told my husband oh well too bad. My husband said that while he was waiting for our order he witnessed him be rude to several other customers. This is not the first time we have experienced this kind of service from him. I can't even believe he is still there and is allowed to work with customers. It's a real shame, as we do enjoy their food but I am not going to be treated like that as there are plenty of other restaurants near by to pick from. Tried calling for a reservation tonight as it's a 30 minute drive for us to get there. The woman on the phone told us reservations were not accepted. We decided waiting would be fine. When we arrived we put our names on the waiting list. There were three parties ahead of us. Some tables cleared and according to the list we were next (waited a half hour at this point) suddenly, the man seating the tables called for a reservation of four to be sat next? After we were told no reservations? Thought it was odd but waited five more minutes for the next table to leave. Then once again, the man called for another reservation not on the list? I expected a lot more after reading reviews. The service was very good. My soup and baked potato were very good. But in our party of 7 the only meal that was good was a salad. Terrible services. We rented a lake house for a bachelorette and came in for a few drinks and food. Immediately when we walked in the bartender eyes us (a groups of girls) up and down. She assumed that we were not paying attention and tried to up charge us on our order (thinking we wouldn't notice). When we confronted the bar tender on this she immediately became defensive and attempted to argue. This service made us uncomfortable and NOT welcome at all. For a rural area who caters to people who are vacationing on Lake Ontario I would NOT recommend this tavern for anyone who is a "outsider". Let's talk about discrimination!! read more

Another place out in the middle of nowhere with a good reputation and they serve up dog food. i was told my order would take 20 minutes so i gave them an extra 5 but still sat in the lot for another 20 minutes before my food was ready! i immediately opened a container to have some fries because by this time my stomach was grumbling uncontrollably but they were ice cold and disgusting. Checked the other boxes and everything else was cold too. The wings, ordered hot, were bone dry, the worst i've ever had. Again, nobody else was there. Not a single other person arrived or left while i sat and waited. The place was dead. i can only assume the incompetent hick responsible for my order had to take an emergency dump and put me on the pay-no-mind list while she completely emptied her entrails. All i know for sure is this is one dump that's seen for the first and last time, at least as far as ordering is concerned. But one cold dish deserves another if you know what i mean... read more

Ordered take out a couple of times. The food is cooked well but I wouldn't consider it anything exceptional. We got the fish fry and salmon meal. Portion sizes definitely exceed expectations-you get what you pay for. Service is quick in terms of food preparation. However, many times we (boyfriend and I) have walked in without any formal greeting from staff and awkwardly ignored or passed over for (what I'm assuming is) a regular. The location is conveniently located minutes away from our home so we would've loved to make this a regular spot for us.
