...I don't agree with Razan's limited taxonomy of medium or large burritos...even the medium was about ~6 bucks (and there is no liquor in it)...to be fair it was a lot of food......one burrito may be too much of a good thing...they're solidly packed...not like the tardis, but equal to about 3/2 of a conventional burrito of the same size...we split two medium burritos with three people so I got a taste of the tofu, the chicken, and the veggie...easy to share since the ingredients inside were evenly distributed...everyone came away full and satisfied! convenient with in store to-go orders...wrapped up nice and tight for easy transportation...each burrito was labelled to avoid confusion...everything tasted very fresh...the insides are glistening but not dripping...the beans were a little bit salty for my taste...the chicken itself was average and, ironically, sort of chick-fil-a-esque in quality/texture..tofu was average as well...non-boring tortilla wrap...nothing spicy added inside or out...diverse veggie selection inside. ...conspiracy theory that it seems like some "organic" places secretly add dirt to their food to make them seem more organic...this place is not like that at all--just fresh ingredients! ...one of the individuals who shared my burrito said that 'if you close your eyes it tastes like Berkeley.' read more

I tried calling the restaurant and finally got through after several tries. She was unapologetic and just said they were delayed because they were busy. This place is really small, so during lunch time you may have to get to-go as there aren't any space available to sit. They have a little sort of mezzanine at the top, but the super narrow and somewhat steep staircase can be daunting, especially if you're carrying hot soup. Prices are fairly reasonable for the quality and amount of food. I usually go for the soup and salad, which always come out good. I must admit the salsas sometimes taste a bit off, or just flavorless, but that's forgivable. This is really decent place to go if you're in the mood for healthy, tasty food. read more

The first few bites of my ultra fresh salmon shawarma were sensational - until I encountered the strips of very sharp raw onion. Next time I come here (and there will definitely be a next time), I would request to have the onion either cooked or omitted. Pulling out the strips of onion turned the shawarma into quite a mess. Razan's has an incredibly broad and diverse menu for such a tiny place. Both of my kids hate brown rice, but the burritos were so tasty here, that not only they didn't mind it, actually commented on how tasty the rice and the burritos were . We love Razan's! The staff here is literally amazing, they are extremely generous and they always give a warm greeting upon arrival. The food is hands down bar none THE BEST IN BERKELEY. I love the mushroom melt wrap (add chicken if you like) and the chicken teriyaki wrap is off the charts. The hummus plate is unrivaled, and they always hook it up quantity wise. The combo plates are also literally off the richter scale, my faves would be the chicken kebab plate and the couscous plate. And I really really like that they use a lot of organic meats, and have vegetarian options. The wraps are good, if a bit pricy at $10.50 for a falafel (Egyptian) wrap. I finally come to Rizani's after walking past it for many years. All this time I thought Rizani was a vegetarian joint so it was nice to see meat on the menu. Because I was hungry and short on time, I ordered the super burrito and they recommended I try the grilled chicken with it. All I can say was that it was a good, healthy tasting burrito. It tasted fresh and I didn't feel remorse after eating it. What made the burrito better was the salsa. I tried the green salsa which was FABULOUS. It was like salsa verde with extra cilantro. I regret not taking more salsa with me because honestly I think the salsa added the flavor to the burrito. I will definitely come back to try something different. Really, the food here is reliable and unique. It's food I feel comfortable gorging on, it's fresh and healthy and bright and yummy. It's just a couple dollars over or a few big bites under what I feel qualifies as a good lunch deal. It's probably location, and they have a kinda cool nook-ful place for supping with a pal. Today my partner and I came here and we're extremely disappointed by the service. We ordered a salmon Shwarma and waited for over thirty minutes. Then we get informed that the salmon was over. We replaced it with lamb and waited for thirty more minutes. Though the lamb option was cheaper, we still were not paid back the money. All this while every single person who came in after us got their orders. After we confronted him, he didn't care a bit and walked away saying that humans forget.
