I think there were too many flavors and it would've been better off separating the drinks as individual Peanut & Black Sesame ones. Ube is stronger than pumpkin, not sure if I even taste pumpkin. Overall would reorder. Black Sesame Kinako Mochi Scone -scone texture is also just as fluffy as the Ube Pumpkin one. black sesame is just right, not too strong but prominent. Updating my review just to comment on how much I really enjoyed the 2 new cookies on the menu. If you get a chance, you must try the Corn Cookie and the Vietnamese Coffee Cookie. The corn cookie has real corn pieces, it's not overly sweet, a great crunch, and I'm pretty sure is topped with sweet frosted flakes cereal. So good. The Vietnamese coffee cookie though..ugh, my fave. You can really taste the Vietnamese coffee in each bite. It's a thin, crispy, oh so delish treat. I came here to check out this new coffee shop in Alhambra because I saw it on social media. First thing I noticed was that the decor was really cute and there was ample seating indoors. I like the location of this café because it's located next to a plaza that's also really bustling with lots of parking. This place is also located next to a Pilates studio so I would give it a 10 out of 10 for convenience. The store is really cute. I love the ambience and aesthetic of it. They sold out of a lot of their pastries by the time I got there in the afternoon, which I'm bummed about, but it goes to show that it must've been good. My boyfriend and I got two drinks and both tasted really good. It wasn't overly sweet, but was creamy and the flavor was decadent. I definitely want to come back to try their pastries next time. The nice thing about this café is that there wasn't a long line either so you can be in and out within 10 minutes if it's not busy. I love this location! The parking lot is super spacious and it's in a really convenient spot in the city. The service is always friendly and welcoming, and I love the abundance of seating when you walk in. The inside is really cute and has a cozy, cutesy vibe. I've tried the strawberry matcha latte with and without the strawberry cream top--both are great, but the one without the cream is my favorite. It has the perfect amount of sweetness for my taste. My boyfriend loves the Lychee Oolong Nojito. It's refreshing, minty, and just a solid drink overall. We've also tried the Vietnamese cookie and the Black Sesame Banana Bread, and all pastries are amazing--seriously 10/10 and really unique. My go-to coffee shop in Alhambra! We came by on a Wednesday morning around 8:30am, and luckily only one other customer was there, though this place is usually very busy on the weekends. The cafe is very clean and modern, & the servers are always so kind and helpful in explaining the menu and what to get based on your preferences. This time I ordered the On Cloud Nine signature iced coffee with oat milk (a vanilla espresso latte with housemate cream/cocoa powdered to top), so smooth, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. Strawberry Field & Gone Nuts are pretty sweet for me. Hubby tried their Brown Sugar Lover, which was good...but I think he enjoys just their regular Iced Latte more. My favorite of their Signature lattes was On Cloud Nine. I usually substitute with Almond Milk. I do wish they had 2%, and their drinks do add up since milk substitutions cost extra. Hubby also likes their Kinako Matcha. Their pastries & baked goods are quite good as well. I've tried a few and they are mostly all "not too sweet." #159 in my Coffeeshop Chronicles. A bakery and coffeeshop combined - two of my favorite things! The pastry chefs come in the morning to bake up a storm and most items sell out by noon, depending on the day. The concept is pretty much the same as Modu, where it's a coffeeshop known more for their quality baked goods than the actual coffee. All of their pastries are Asian inspired and one-of-a-kind, and I'm pretty sure I've tried them all by now. Here are my thoughts: 1. The Grey & Grain cookie - black sesame and earl grey cookie with sea salt. Not bad. 2. Matcha Blueberry muffin - my favorite! I've never had this combination in a muffin before. 3. Oolong Mochi scone - made with osthmanthus honey, oolong tea, and mochi. This one was also pretty good. 4. Hojicha Pistachio scone - A roasted green tea scone with pistachio cream and shredded pistachio (think knafeh). This scone showcases both Japanese and Middle Eastern influences in one delicious pastry. 5. Ube s'more cookie - soft and chewy; not bad. Four pastries and a specialty latte came out to about $35, about the price you'd expect these days. The shop is spacious and a decent spot to bunker down and work, especially since you can enjoy unique pastries at the same time. I am so happy that Alhambra has another coffee shop =] I have tried two drinks & 2 cookies from here. IMO, the drinks were good but the cookies were meh I really enjoyed the strawberry cream hojicha. The hojicha was strong and smooth. The strawberry cream added a little more flavor to it. The only prob was I felt cheated. They didn't fill my cup even with the cream on top pshhh I am not a fan of the Gone Nuts drink. It had bits of peanuts in it. My nephew went and got me this one. Their baked goods get sold out pretty fast so try to come before 11a. I tried a few baked goods. My favorite was the matcha blueberry scone. It felt like such a waste of money because the cream top did not have any sugar in it...it was pure whipped cream with no sweetness... A new cafe! It's very trendy inside, with lots of cute millennial pink accents. It's located across the street from the sprouts plaza in the newly constructed buildings. The strawberry latte (I can't remember the exact name!) was delicious! I typically find iced coffees to be bitter, but this one was very smooth. The strawberry jam was sweet and tangy. Staff were great, and had our drinks out promptly despite the crowded dining area. I do have two major concerns about this location. Number one is the parking situation and lack of crosswalks. To get to ReBakesic, you either need to jaywalk across a decently busy road or walk up the entire block to the crosswalk if you park at the free lot in the sprouts plaza. With the addition of these new apartments and businesses, I hope the city adds a new crosswalk based on people's path of travel. My second concern is the price. The drinks did not have sizes listed or size options. The Sri k I got felt very small, and a lot of the space was taken up by ice. With no modifications, I spent around $6.50. Been wanting to try this cafe for awhile! Free parking garage is on the other side of the cafe. I was recommended by a friend to get here early if I want to try their pastries because they can sell out of them. I got here on Sat morning @9 and they had alot of their cookies and scones in stock which was great. I love how they are experimenting with asian inspired flavors such as black sesame, hojicha,ube etc. The pastries look so appetizing and I want to eat everything! I decided to go with the Grey and Grain cookie, Ube Smores Scone and Strawberry Matcha! The cookie had black sesame and earl grey in it and omg it was SOO yummy! the flavors definitely complement each other very well. The cookie itself is more of a solid crunch texture, not the chewy soft type. I tend to like chewy cookies the best but Im not complaining because this was still a banger. (5/5) The ube scone was perfect, not overwhelmingly sweet, crumbly, marshmallow in the middle for a nice little bounce and the teddy bear was a cute addition. (5/5) Im a matcha connoisseur so this matcha wasnt the best thing i ever had, but it was decent. It is definitely one of the lighter, subtle notes matchas Ive had. Good for beginners who are just getting into matcha. I would say 3.5/5 if you get the matcha drink alone but the strawberry definitely makes it taste, I enjoyed the strawberry matcha combo (4/5)! P.S: Had sips of their Cloud 9 espresso specialty drinks and it was creamy and milky if you enjoy that in your coffee! Light and creamy, can ask for more espresso if you enjoy a stronger taste (4/5) I am interested in their other specialties as well! Definitely go here to try their unique pastries and drinks! My barista is SOOOO nice and charismatic. She explains which drinks (cloud 9) and cookies (ube smores) are her favorites. Ube s'mores: girl I inhaled this one. Their cookies are more soft and almost cake like. I love how smooth the taste is. The way they incorporated the butter is addicting. Cloud 9: sooo luxurious. If you like sweet and milky latte's this is for you!!! For me though, I like more of a balance with coffee and milk. I would add another shot of espresso to this drink. There is a parking garage around the back you can park in. The inside was a good size with decent amount of seating- it was pretty busy when I went since all the seats were filled. I came here to try all the scones and cookies which were very unique and asian inspired. My friend and I got the Matcha Red Bean Mochi Scone, Osmanthus Oolong Mochi Scone, Hojicha Pistachio Scone, Grey & Grain Cookie, Black Sesame Banana Bread, and the Caramel Banana Turon Cookie, which I think was a special for that day (4th of July). Overall the scones and cookies weren't super sweet so that was one good thing about it. The tea flavors were very strong in each scone but we weren't really mind blown by them. I liked the mochi in the middle though. My personal favorites was the Grey & Grain Cookie and Black Sesame Banana Bread. The sweet and savory balanced so well and the texture of the cookie was just right. I would come back just for those 2 items but probably not the rest. read more
