It's hard to call yourself a bakery, but have no baked goods to sell. Speaking to the person helping us at the counter, it seems to be a regular occurrence that they are all too familiar with, indicating that there is clearly an inventory problem. I get that everything is made from scratch, but a bank has money as a bank should, the grocery store should have groceries as one would expect, and a bakery should have pastries. We got two drinks, both were delicious. Nothing spectacular that blows my mind to rave home about, but it was delicious. There are large tables, the sign at the door says it is dog friendly inside, and there were several outlets available for those who wish to work in the space. The cutesy pastel color theme of Re:Bakesic surely turned me on right at my first step into the venue. Then looking at the showcase, where they displayed the sweet treats they offered doubtlessly get my excitement to the next level. It was right before noon yet some of their cookies were sadly sold out already, coincidentally the Ube Smores one which I really was excited to try. Not to fall too deep into disappointment, I went with my second choice The Hojicha Pistachio scone. As I had it on the spot, they offered to warm it up, which made me scored just extra point for them. I decided not to go for any drink as I had another place I'd been eyeing to try nearby which would be my second stop for the day. The scone came with that slight crunch outside and moist cakey texture inside. The hojicha flavor was kinda subtle and I could taste it more when I had the scone without the pistachio topping. Despite I loved the pistachio cream with knafeh pastry on top, for my palate hojicha and pistachio cream seemed to be good on its own but not really blended well together. A wonderful new coffee shop that just opened near the Edwards movie theater in Alhambra. The shop itself is very simple and clean, with bright colors that make the environment feel welcoming. The staff were all very cheery and happy to give recommendations on their many different drinks and pastries. I ordered the Gone Nuts signature latte, the black sesame banana bread, and the OG Messy Cookie. The Gone Nuts latte looked beautiful with its half black sesame cream and half peanut cream on top. The drink was deliciously nutty with neither flavor being too overpowering or sweet. Definitely one of the more unique coffees I've ever tried, but very well done. The black sesame banana bread was also delicious having a solid banana flavor with a nice black sesame flavor spread throughout. The unevenly spread sesame flavor made the bread taste much better since it was a different flavor with each bite! Finally, the OG messy cookie tasted like a nice classic chocolate chip cookies with a subtle nut flavor. It was a little dense, but not overly sweet. Re Bakesic is a newly opened Asian-inspired cafe and bake shop located in Alhambra. To get here, there is street parking all around the area or some nearby plazas with parking spots. Inside, they have a spacious and colorful setup with about 6-7 tables for seating. For their menu, they have a nice selection of different classic, signature, seasonal, matcha, hojicha, and tea drinks to choose from along with their freshly made pastries. Wifey and I came through with our friend and we got the Kinako Matcha, Blueberry Matcha, and Apple Matcha Tonic for our drinks and a Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie and Black Sesame Banana Bread for our pastries. I didn't get the matcha but I tried some from my friend and jt was probably one of the best tasting matchas I have had so far. The matcha was the perfect amount of creamy and sweet, and was not grainy what so ever. LOVED thw Spanish latte. After seeing this spot online I decided to try it out on a Saturday afternoon. I had a mediocre Vietnamese coffee cookie as well as a strawberry matcha. The cookie was disappointing as it was hard and dry with no Vietnamese coffee flavor, but instead tasted like a dry chocolate chip cookie. The strawberry matcha was on the less flavorful side, with a thin layer of strawberry puree. I love coming here when I need a pick-me-up or sweet treat. The matcha is good quality and strong! The workers are all very welcoming and the drinks come out quick. They have outlets against the wall and lots of seating if you plan to stay longer. The only note is that it gets loud at times and people's voices project throughout the room- so bring your noise cancelling headphones if you want silence. I've been to Re Bakesic twice now and honestly? I love it! If you go around 8:30 AM on a weekday, it's pretty quiet. It's perfect for studying or knocking out emails. Also, TONS OF PARKING. We love an easy arrival!!! Pastry-wise, they do Asian flavors right. The hojicha scone was so good. Actual hojicha flavor, and the crunch from the knafeh? Chefs kiss! Same with the earl grey sesame cookie, beautifully balanced and the flavor really came through. The OG cookie is a solid, classic choice if you just want something straightforward but it's also not too sweet (in a very good way!). The only miss for me was the black sesame banana bread. It's not bad at all, just more banana than black sesame. If you're looking for that nutty, roasty hit, it's not quite there. Drinks? The matcha latte was a little too chill for me since I wanted more matcha punch (does that make sense?). But the strawberry hojicha was really lovely, and the kinako matcha? We walked over to check out Re: Bakesic, a new coffee spot in Alhambra that's only been open a couple of weeks. It's been on our radar, and I'm glad we finally stopped in. The space is surprisingly roomy for a coffee shop--modern, clean, and thoughtfully designed. Loved the minimal decor, especially the cute mirror and shelf display with mugs right at the entrance. It's got a calm, cozy vibe that makes you want to hang out for a while. We were greeted by Max at the counter, who was super friendly and helpful with walking us through the menu. They offer the usual espresso drinks alongside some creative signature options, plus a variety of pastries that all looked dangerously good. I went with the Strawberry Field (made with almond milk, though they also offer oat), and my wife branched out from her usual vanilla latte to try the Hojicha Latte. For pastries, we split the Ube S'mores Messy Cookie and the Hojicha Pistachio Scone--both were unique and delicious. There was plenty of seating available, and we noticed a few folks working on laptops. Free WiFi is available, so I could easily see this being a solid WFH or study spot. This is my second time here and I really enjoy their matcha! I spotted the persimmon matcha latte and knew I had to try it! They said the persimmon was from their tree so better go try this seasonal drink while it is still available. This was one of the fruit matcha drinks that I really enjoyed because the sweetness and spiced flavor from the persimmon really goes with the matcha. The persimmon is more of a puree so you will get chunks in there that was albeit weird at first but I got used to it. I also got the black sesame kinako mochi scone. It was $$ (like the cost of a drink $$) but it was so yummy. The mochi was soft inside and they do add a bunch of it in the center. I've been here a few times now but never wrote a review. I love the ambience and how cozy the cafe is. It has that homey feeling especially when it's on a rainy day. It's usually really packed and a lot of people come in to study as well. I love their matcha lattes, especially the earl grey matcha. I never get tired of it. It's not too sweet and they can adjust it according to your preference. I've been to a lot of matcha cafes and this one's a gem. The matcha itself is really good and it's a strong one but not overbearing. As a matcha addict I give 11/10. Locally owned as well and the workers are really sweet. The cafe has free wifi and while it's not large, they offer seatings to accommodate large crowds if you want to sit down and relax. I appreciate how they're always changing up the menu for new experiences however consistency is an issue. Osmanthus mochi scone: Appearance wise, super pretty and I like the petals. You can really taste the osmanthus and I really loved the mochi in the center! It can be pretty dry though so you need to pair it with a drink. Earl grey & grain: Probably my favorite from the cafe! I love the earl grey flavor and that it's crispy around the edges but chewy in the center. Sea salt is also sprinkled on top and adds a nice savoriness to the cookie. Black sesame pumpkin bread: Their newest pastry featuring fall flavors! I've tried their black sesame banana bread before they replaced it but I liked the banana bread better. I couldn't taste the pumpkin but it was soft and moist. I've tried a couple of their drinks and while I do love their drinks, consistency is an issue. Their drinks are good if done well but if it's not, it's disappointing and watery. And it doesn't help that their drinks are pretty pricey. I gotten their strawberry cream hojicha, kinako matcha, and Kyoto fog. On separate occasions, the strawberry cream hojicha lacked the strawberry flavor and sweetness however I gave it another try and the drink was really good! My cousin and I both ordered the kinako matcha and hers was watered down that you can't even taste the matcha. Just recently I tried their Kyoto fog and while it was great the first time around, I got a second time and was super disappointed that matcha was nonexistent and the drink lacked sweetness. My cousin's drink was the same as well. First time had the right amount of matcha and sweetness that paired super well with their earl grey tea. Sugar levels on their drinks can be pretty off because I would get the same drink but there's times where it doesn't seem like they added any sugar and other times where sweetness was perfect. They do have agave to fix the issue but I'd prefer if drinks were already sweeten. While I love their concept of their menu, the inconsistency of their drinks will just keep me away. read more

Came here recently after seeing the buzz on social media about the pastries and coffee from this new coffee shop. Came in the middle of the day on a Sunday and it was packed. But workers were pretty efficient in taking orders and getting the drinks out. Ordered a matcha latte ($7.00) with no ice, which I was told the drink would be half filled. They ended up giving it to me in a smaller cup - thought overall this drink was okay. Nothing amazing, but overall, it was a decent matcha latte. Also ordered Gone Nuts ($6.75) which has vanilla, espresso, milk, and housemade black sesame and peanut cream. This drink had all the makings to be a stand-out drink, but I think it was pretty lackluster in flavor. The black sesame wasn't too strong and didn't add much to the flavor of the drink, so each sip pretty much tasted like a standard coffee drink. The peanut cream on top was nice and there were a few crunchy garnish pieces that helped make this drink a little better. And I ended up grabbing a pastry from whatever they had left that day. So glad I tried the matcha blueberry muffin ($6) because the muffin was really good. The top crumble was sweet and I really liked the texture. But biting into the muffin, you get ooey blueberry and a lot of matcha flavor that helped make the overall muffin not too sweet. I would definitely get this again next time. I've heard that the pastries really shine from Re Bakesic, and I definitely saw that from the muffin that I ordered. Interior is pretty nice and clean - a good number of tables if you want to sit and chat, but seems like it gets pretty busy. It's right across from the Burlington/Sprouts market, so a lot of parking in that plaza as well as street parking.
