Finally got to try out this tea house after hearing so many good things! I got the matcha latte with their house made coco almond milk and half sweet with honey. I think my order was absolutely perfect. Super strong matcha, right amount of sweetness, and the most perfect shade of green. I also got to try the matcha latte but half sweet with maple. It was great as well, just a tad sweet for me. If I were to get maple I would do a fourth sweet. I love how they pour the matcha right in front of you, it makes for the most aesthetic video. Amazing service as well, as the person taking our order gave us great recommendations.
I visited Chafinity today an had a mixed experience overall. It is located in the Camp shopping center. They serve matcha drinks. Food: We ordered two matcha lattes to share. The matcha latte tasted fresh and delicious. However, it was a bit expensive for the size. Service: We got the drinks relatively quickly during a busy time. Ambiance: The decor outside is very nice. They have a cool fountain outside. However, the seating is very limited. I recommend coming here early, if you want to find a place to sit.
From the pictures this place looks amazing. Modeled from a village in Japan, this quaint matcha tea house is for real. Located in the Camp, the location is amazing. There are lots of fountains, trees, flowers and wood. It is a. magical place, that is if you can find a seat. I waited in line, a very nice young lady helped me decide what to get. We ordered Matcha Lattes. Fortune was with us, for we found a nice table to sit at and enjoy our matcha lattes. The lattes were great. The environment is amazing. The price is more than what we expected, and the seats were hard to find.
3.5/5 I love the peaceful vibe and it's truly a cute area to sip on some matcha. It gives a zen experience and it's a nice escape from the stress outside. Some of the tables are taken up by other people just hanging out at the camp so it might be hard to find a table. BUT I would most likely not come here again. The matcha wasn't anything crazy, and we paid $45 for two people. The wagashi we got was limited on the menu and it was $14... it was mochi with red bean. The matcha wasn't bad, but it tasted like the ones I make at home and seemed a little crazy to be $10. I do appreciate that they source their matcha from farms in Japan.
Nice concept. Outdoor seatings but difficult since there's limited tables. Inside of the camp. Parking can be horrendous. There's usually a line-you can see them making your match through a glass window. Price is slightly higher than other tea/matcha places. The matcha was lacking for me-we got the $14 premium match and $10 matcha latte (iced). Could taste the match - the milk was overwhelming. The yuzu mochi was decent but overall I would skip this place altogether unless I'd happen to be in the shopping center.
Girl, ngl this place was expensive but man I have never had a better matcha than the one I got here. I still think about it and I went here like a month ago maybe lol. I recommend trying the walnut milk, it really elevated the drink. The maple syrup was so good. The guy who was working (which I believe is the owner?) was super nice and friendly. The place it self has a relaxed atmosphere, I love that it's outdoors.

I tried the piccolo matcha, and while I liked the presentation and overall vibe, I do wish the matcha flavor was stronger. It was a little milkier than I personally prefer, so I'd definitely recommend adding sugar if you like your drinks a bit sweeter. Overall, the matcha was okay, but the atmosphere is what really stood out to me. It's a nice spot if you're looking for a calm little place to hang out, especially if you're already at The CAMP.
Not sure why it is shown as permanently closed on Yelp, but they're fully open. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and we waited about 15 minutes in line. The matcha latte is fantastic. It is smooth, bold, and rich. A great balance umami and natural sweetness. One thing I really like is that they use non-sweetened milk alternatives (unsweetened oat milk and soy milk). I love unsweetened matcha latte, but almost all places use sweetened milk alternatives. Their matcha comes unsweetened so make sure to add sweeteners if you can't tolerate the original matcha taste. Their staff are all very friendly and welcoming. All their matcha is hand whisked! The place can get quite crowded. The garden-like design is very unique and enjoyable. I feel very calmed and peaceful there. Highly recommend this place if you want to try authentic matcha drinks.
Came on a Saturday afternoon to try this new matcha place at the Camp. Ambience is super nice despite the limited space being and line moved pretty fast for how many people were being served. The matcha was good but personally not sure if it warranted the price (the matcha latte went up from $9 to $10 in the couple of weeks since someone's yelp photo of the menu). We got the matcha latte, hojicha latte, and house matcha - the lattes tasted a little bland/watery to us and I personally would've liked more sweetness to balance the earthiness of the matcha. The strawberry daifuku mochi and seasonal wagashi were absolutely beautiful and had a nice subtle sweet flavor. Again though, I feel like I've gotten similar sweets at places in Gardena for a lower price point.

Very nice tea house and the staff was very kind. Definitely a long 20 minute line if you go at lunch on a Saturday. I recommend going with someone so they can grab a table while you wait in line. I don't think Chafinity is as enjoyable if you get your drink to-go. The ambiance of sitting down cannot be replaced. Unfortunately, they gave me the wrong tea for my teapot, the Gyokuro, but it was still good. They give you enough hot water for 3 teapot refills. I'll have to double-check my tea before drinking but hard to blame them when it was so busy. I enjoyed the strawberry diafuku by Hanaichi Mochi the best. It's very cool of Chafinity to partner with a local mochi company that is at the Orange and Irvine Farmers Market. The other mochis were very cute but could not compare to the strawberry supremacy. I recommend it if you want to sit and chat outside but definitely not on a busy day. Very relaxing otherwise.
I've been obsessing over Chafinity since they were just doing farmers markets on the weekends. I was so excited when they started selling their matcha powder at Mitsuwa and doing pop-ups at The Camp before permanently settling there. Chafinity is different from other matcha spots in the area. Everything feels very intentional -- from how they make the matcha, to the ingredients they use, to even the music they play. This is one of the few places I've been to where all the matcha are hand-whisked and you can see the worker prepares your drink through the clear glass. The drink isn't rushed. It's carefully crafted to your liking. The prices are a bit high, but you are paying for the quality. Service is great. The workers are always so helpful with recommendations without overselling. This place truly reminds me of Japan.

Chafinity isn't really selling matcha. It's selling intentionality. Before you even walk inside, there's a menu on a stand so you can decide what you want without feeling rushed. Then there's another menu once you're inside. The drinks are displayed beside the register. Every step feels considered. You get the sense that someone actually thought about how people move through the space instead of simply trying to push a line through. The tea house itself is tiny and beautifully understated. You can see much of the preparation happening behind the counter and whether it's the equipment, the careful whisking or simply the pace of everyone working there, it creates immediate confidence that they care about what they're making. The matcha was excellent. Smooth, rich, earthy and not overloaded with sweetness like so many places today. Whether you're enough of an expert to tell the difference between ceremonial grades is another question, but it tastes clean, feels thoughtfully prepared and somehow makes you slow down. Maybe that's the point. The downside is the price. Around $14 for a relatively small drink is hard to ignore. You're paying as much for the experience as you are for the tea. It's also surprisingly warm inside. There isn't much airflow, so on a hot Southern California afternoon it can get uncomfortable if you're planning to linger. Still, the experience stays with you. The drinks are beautiful, the atmosphere is calming and everything feels intentionally crafted instead of mass produced. I don't know if drinking premium matcha makes me healthier, but it certainly makes me feel like I'm making a better decision than grabbing another sugary coffee. Is it worth $14 every day? Definitely not. Is it worth visiting at least once if you appreciate thoughtful design, beautiful spaces and exceptionally prepared matcha? Absolutely. read more
Adorable aesthetic which felt like I was transported to a garden in Japan. MOCHI was incredibley gooey and sticky while not being too sweet with all the flavors coming through really well. I actually liked the hochija and strawberry topped mochi flavors. Matcha was good and MILK options were very elaborate which I appreciated. I got an unsweetened hot soy matcha latte. They only have two sweetener options which I opt out of anyway. The premium matcha was $14 for a 12 oz which was insane. For that price point I was expecting the best matcha I have ever had which was not the case. But it was good and they seemed to be very precise and consistent with their ratio and quality. I appreciated the service knowing the exact grams in each beverage with their little scale visible in the window for observing the matcha making process. They definitely didn't skip on the details. I would go as a one time NOVELTY experience but not a go to for me as it was too expensive for what it was. read more

Good matcha, but super pricey. Hands down one of the best entrance and it's very aesthetically pleasing to walk in and order. Love the trays they serve your food on. Love the coasters too. Every detail was not overlooked. I ordered the iced matcha latte ($10), strawberry daifuku mochi ($7) and black sesame mochi ($6). A drink and two mochi was $24 and I added tip. I asked for print out of receipt but they don't have printer. The matcha was latte was good, not sure if it's the best I had but very good. The mochi was okay and expensive. I liked the black sesame over the strawberry mochi a lot more. The black sesame mochi had better flavor than the strawberry one. Parking is horrible here, shares space with many stores in this small plaza. The line for this matcha place was long but moves quickly. They make your drink super fast. You can't go inside, everything is outdoor and the seatings are outdoor too. I would come back to take my friends who have never been here. Otherwise I wouldn't come back because of parking and for steep price. This place has good food and very aesthetically pleasing to look at. read more
My sister and I had been obsessing over this place on IG for the longest time, so we finally made it happen and honestly, it did not disappoint! The moment we walked in, it felt like we were transported straight to Japan. The whole atmosphere is so calming and peaceful, with lush plants all around and the sound of little fountains in the background. It really does feel like stepping into a beautiful Japanese garden, which made the whole experience feel like a mini getaway. We stopped by on a weekday around noon, waited in a short line, and were lucky enough to find a spot to sit down and enjoy everything. We both ordered the Premium Saemidori Matcha, though I went with mine as an iced latte because I just love a cold drink. It was smooth, perfectly sweet, and so refreshing. Seriously one of the better matchas I've had! And then there was the mochi. We tried the Strawberry Daifuku Mochi and the black sesame mochi and they were both absolutely incredible. So soft, so chewy, and the fillings were spot on. Hands down one of the highlights of the visit. The staff were also super friendly and welcoming, and they wore traditional Japanese outfits which was such a thoughtful detail that really added to the overall vibe of the place. This place is totally worth the drive and we are definitely coming back. If you have been thinking about visiting, just go for it! read more
This new pop-up is super popular and the line goes crazy! Given that the wait was long and it was gonna take a while for me to get my order, I didn't expect much until I waited 40 minutes till I didn't get my Matcha latte. Mind you, I got the matcha tin that was $60 with the matcha latte so I was getting confused why my drink wasn't coming out after so many people who ordered after me already had their drink and left. After we asked for the order, finally, they remade the drink, but I'm not sure if they use the correct Matcha powder to make my Matcha latte since they had different types. I did ask for the house made almond milk. The seating is plenty, but there's too many people here so we got a corner spot at the big table. Frustrated and sad by the drink order being missed. Super aesthetic and pretty otherwise. read more
Cute little tea spot tucked away in The Camp with a really nice outdoor vibe. We went on a weekday morning and there was already a bit of a line. Seating is limited since everything is outside, but the service was friendly and the staff was helpful when we had questions. Drinks came out pretty quickly too. We got the hojicha and matcha lattes, and honestly both were kind of underwhelming. The hojicha was a little better, but the matcha didn't have much flavor for me. I did like that they have honey and maple syrup out so you can adjust the sweetness yourself. It's on the pricier side ($8-$10), and for me it didn't really feel worth it for the drinks, even though the atmosphere is really cute. read more

Came on a weekday around noon and there was no wait (saw that there was a long wait on weekends). The camp is always busy in terms of parking even mid day on a weekday the lot was pretty full and we had to circle around once to find a spot. The overall ambiance is amazing! So cute and feels intimate with small tables under foliage. Service was also really good. Matcha itself was yummy however the milk kind of overpowers the matcha (they actually told us this about the oat milk and recommended almond milk instead which is lighter so we switched one of the drinks to almond milk) but next time would probably go with just matcha tea without milk. The deserts were delicious though!! The strawberry on the strawberry daifuku was so sweet and ripe and the mochi was so soft. Come early because they run out - we got the last sesame mochi on a Tuesday around noon and it was sooo yummy highly recommend. It's a lovely place to drink matcha and chat with friends. Probably wouldn't come back just for the matcha because it is quite expensive - for two matcha lattes, a strawberry daifuku, and black sesame mochi it was approaching $50. read more
My friend and I arrived Saturday morning around 9:30AM. There was already a line, which made us even more excited to try Chafinity's matcha latte. The worker was very kind. Upon hearing that it was our first time, she explained the different options for drinks and mochi. We both ordered a house matcha latte and were impressed with the quality of the ceremonial matcha. The yuzu mochi was also delicious and had both a sweet and salty flavor. The one negative is the price. The matcha and the mochi together were $17 per person. I would probably only come back once in a while. read more
We love Chafinity! Took two tries to make it work but indeed we did. First time we went on a Saturday afternoon and the line was so long I didn't feel like pretending it was Disneyland. Second time came back at an off time, say Wednesday at 3p and success. Were able to order after waiting in queue for only about 5 mins. Ordered two iced matcha lattes with walnut milk and it hit. The drink wasn't as matcha forward as we would have liked but the milk tasted so good that we didn't mind the milk forwardness. They had another milk add-on with a $3 upcharge (wild!!) but I think have recently updated it to $2 (still wild!). Prices are not for the faint here at Chafinity. I had seen a lot of reviews mentioning their long wait times, etc but am lucky to have not experienced this. Perhaps they're getting better at keeping up with their demand. Wouldn't be my regular matcha spot but will be back from time to time. read more
Highly recommend checking out Chafinity at The Lab. It's definitely on the pricier side, but the quality and overall experience make it worth it. I got the traditional premium matcha and it was excellent. Smooth, rich, and very clean tasting without any bitterness. You can really tell they're using high quality matcha and taking the time to prepare it properly. The space is calm and thoughtfully designed, and the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. It honestly felt like we were transported to Japan. This isn't a quick grab and go spot. It's more of a slow down and enjoy the moment type of place. So happy to have something like this in Costa Mesa. Will definitely be back. read more
Drinks itself are on the pricier side (6~10). Parking here is also a pain in the butt since it's located in the camp Costa Mesa. Drinks come unsweetened so you have to sweeten it yourself. They have plenty of outdoor seating so it's a perfect place to catch up. The matcha itself is honestly subpar but the hojicha was good. I would be back but only for a nicer occasion. read more
Weekday matcha date with my siblings! Serene natural atmosphere with sunlight filtering through the vines. Such a cute vibe. Luckily we all got parking and there was a very short line. Seating was a minor challenge but eventually we all got seats and tables next to each other. The matcha is really good and the mochi was too!! What I ordered: -iced matcha latte with oat and maple syrup *don't get the coconut milk it changes the taste -black sesame mochi (toasted black sesame with roasted sweet potato, wrapped in delicate butterfly pea flower mochi) (V) (GF) -strawberry daifuku mochi (soft and pillowy mochi filled with house-made anko (Japanese red bean), topped with a strawberry) (V) (GF) Not sure about restrooms or how easy it is to work with laptops or whatever but I did see some people doing that. The staff was very kind. Don't forget to return your trays at the same place you pick up your order. read more
Located inside The Camp Personally, I did not enjoy the matcha latte with oat, koji rice. I think the taste is a bit milky and the rice flavor is a bit overwhelming. I got it full sweet as well. Maybe I should've tried it with one of their house made milks but it is an extra $3 surcharge. My husband got the hojicha latte with milk and I liked it way better. It has a roasted taste but he did say it is also pretty milky. We came grand opening day and waited about 45 mins. Prices are also kind of high. They ran of daifuku like 2 hours before closing. Tried Chafinity Tea House after spotting a new matcha spot and figured we'd give it a shot. Overall, it was an okay experience. We ordered the hojicha latte and the matcha picollo. Both drinks were decent, but nothing particularly memorable. One thing I did like was the option to customize your sweetener--they offer choices like maple syrup and honey, and the maple syrup was a nice, unique touch. We initially went with half sweetener, but ended up adding more since the drinks tasted a bit bland and needed that extra boost of sweetness to really come together. We visited on a weekday, so the wait wasn't bad at all, which was a plus. All in all, not a bad place to try if you're curious, but it didn't quite stand out enough for me to go out of my way to return. read more

4.5 stars but I'll round up! Located at the camp, and it could get pretty crowded and seats can fill up so you would may need to find seats in other areas of the camp or just take it to go. Love the ambiance, makes me feel like I'm in Japan! Tried their matcha, Hojitcha, cinnamon roll, and daifuku. - Matcha with walnut milk, delicious! You could really taste the quality in the matcha! - Hojitcha was also good with nice Hojitcha flavor! The only thing is that it was pretty milky, and it would probably taste better with a little more sweetener or a soy or walnut milk. - The mochi daifuku was really tasty, highly recommend! - Sourdough cinnamon roll had good flavor but was a little too dry. I think heating it up would taste much better! It is a little pricey! You are paying for the location and quality, but I definitely recommend to try! read more
Their house matcha latte is definitely made from great ceremonial matcha powder. It tastes light and fragrant, and I prefer matcha latte that is sweetened by the matcha itself rather than sweetener. They have multiple milk options but I prefer whole milk to keep it basic in order to taste the matcha better. I got it less sweet, which was good enough. For matcha latte, there was only one option for matcha powder while there were two choices for usucha and I don't mind it because their matcha latte were similar to what I got in Japan or made at home. I came two times, one on a weekday morning and the place was empty, parking was easy to find, and the order took about 5 minutes. One later on a weekday afternoon before they closed, which were packed. The parking could easily get horrible. The ambiance was cute, they have a few tables for dine-in. It does get busy pretty quickly so make sure that if you go that you are not in a hurry to go somewhere else. Depending on when and what day, The Camp can get pretty packed; so parking could be an issue. Ordered: - Matcha Latte with their house special almond milk - Strawberry Daifuku - Sesame Mochi Depending on what kind of matcha you like, the experience can vary. The matcha they offer is more on the traditional side with less sweetness. However it is a very good experience to try! They offer various diary and non-diary options and I opted to try their house made almond milk with their Matcha Latte. Depending on the day (and what they have left) they offer various desserts. I tried both the Strawberry Daifuku and Sesame Mochi which were good paired with the drink! Overall this was good for the experience. read more
Pictures don't do justice!!! The quality of the matcha is so good. Also, I ordered one of every mochi and the cinnamon roll. All of them were so good and the cinnamon roll was not overly sweet! There was a line but totally worth the wait. I will definitely be coming back. read more
Unique in that it's one of the most authentic matcha spots in OC. I appreciate that the matcha is not only good quality, but that they don't try to overdo it with extravagant latte flavors, just plain and simple matchas similar to how they are served in Japan. Lots of tables. Outdoor seating only. Stayed here for a few hours yapping w my friend. Matcha is expensive. $10 for a regular size (see pic). I saw this tea house on Instagram and looked very popular so thought I would check it out! It is a very small cute authentic Japanese teahouse. not really much seating The Matcha is basic in terms of just Matcha and milk. The only sweeteners they have are a maple syrup and honey. There are no fruit flavors. The milks our homemade, but the oat milk is rice based so I ordered the almond which I didn't care for. My only downfall with this place is after I ordered and paid, the girl told me it would be a 30 minute wait which would've been nice to know prior to ordering. It is a bit on the expensive side, but it has great quality. Not sure I would visit again, but it is authentic and made in front of you, which is kind of cute! read more

Chafinity was surprising! Their authentic matcha really hits the spot with its rich and creamy texture and super flavorful taste. I especially enjoyed the presentation and vibes of the area. Their black sesame mochi was also so yummy! The skin was thick and chewy and the sesame filling was just perfect. Loved this all around! I will say though, it was $14 for an iced matcha latte, which is incredibly steep! I don't know if I'd be willing to pay that much for this latte in the future, which is why they're receiving my 4 star rating instead of 5. But overall, I really enjoyed my experience here! read more
Chafinity Tea House is now open at The Camp and they are bringing that traditional matcha tea house experience to OC. Parking here is rough at times, but it really depends on the day and time you come. They are located right next to the Seed Peoples Market. Wifey and I pulled up around 11am and it was about a 25 minute wait until we ordered. They have about 7-8 tables for seating right in front of the shop. For their menu, they have matcha, hojicha, and tea drinks with all of their ingredients being sourced from Japan. We ended up trying the Hojicha Latte and the Matcha Latte and could definitely taste the quality in it. All of the staff here are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend stopping by to check them out! read more
I've been dying to try this place and was finally able to make the trip! The staff was extremely friendly and the whole vibe of the place was really nice. Seating was a little limited just due to the crowds but eventually we were able to snag a spot. As for the matcha, my friend and I both really enjoyed our drinks! It was a nice change from the heavily sweetened options that most other places offer (although we love those too). We both loved our little treats, the strawberry daifuku mochi and sourdough cinnamon bun, as well! Although pricing is a little bit more expensive than somewhere we'd probably frequent, we still had a great experience. Overall, we would definitely come back! read more

What a lovely little hidden gem in The Camp. It's delightful to find a place that's serious about serving traditional matcha. I ordered the House Matcha and wagashi, and it was delicious. The rich matcha flavor was complemented perfectly by the soft black sesame confection. My husband got a matcha latte and our son got the sparkling matcha yuzu. I had a sip of each and would say you really can't go wrong here. Beautiful presentation, too. Don't come if you're in a hurry-- it took about 20 minutes for our order. Our server let us know when we were ordering, so we were aware and knew what to expect. We were there for a relaxing experience and we found it- high quality matcha enjoyed outdoors surrounded by greenery. So nice. read more
Chafinity is a tiny Japanese tea house with very limited seating and space but the simplicity and beauty of nature transcend everything. Enjoy your lovely cup of tea next door at Vitaly Italian Home and have breakfast with your favorite cup of Japanese tea today. The beautiful cool breeze and great atmosphere here combined with the warm amazing sound of the live guitar playing is truly inspiring for a fantastic experience and weekend. Coming together as one peaceful community and loving village here. You must drop by and be sure to valet $8 since no parking available at 12:00 noon time on Friday May 15th 2026.
