I saw this was a local restaurant and decided to try it out. I was a little nervous when I saw all of the one star reviews. After tasting the food and interacting with the greeter (I ordered to go) I truly cannot see why someone would leave a low review. The greeter at the front door welcomed me in kindly and was patient for my order while I browsed their extensive menu. I was on the fence on what to order until I spotted the golden item: quesabirria tacos, my fave. I decided on those and when asking for a recommendation on if the rice was flavorful or more on the bland side, I appreciated her truthful answer. My order came out pretty fast, within 8-10 minutes. They gave me ALLLLL the fixins and then some. I received 3 tacos, 3 limes, cilantro, white and red onions, sliced habanero peppers, AMD chips and salsa. The salsa was magnificent, and I'm usually the person that would rather not eat the chips and salsa because the quality is low and it is not tasty. But you could tell the vegetables they used were very fresh and it had a tiny bite of spice. Probably third best restaurant salsa I've tasted. The other salsas for the birria tacos were wayyyy too salty. As far as the birria tacos went, they were exploding with flavor, and my cheese pull was textbook definition. We have been eating at this location for a few years not sure why I haven't reviewed them, my husband used to come more frequently at lunch. But together we enjoy dinner more often, they have a fantastic selection of tacos, all done to perfection. The seafood selection is nice here too. This place is a rip off. I used to come here for lunch and prices have increased by at least 5$ on everything. I went here recently while waiting for my truck to be worked on. I order a michelada that was 12$, a normal dosxx is 4$ so they think that adding some ice, taajin rim and 1oz of Clamato is worth 8$?!? What a joke. Nothing on the menu is under 10$ and the food quality is terrible. The bar is filthy and flies were buzzing around the entire time. What an amazing place! From the outside you would guess it is a simple restaurant, but once you walk in you are greeted by great decor, the friendliest servers, great food and big portions. This was our second trip to this location and our first dining experience was an amazing dinner. However Lunch today was beyond disappointing. My boyfriend ordered the breaded shrimp dish and what he could stomach is now in the parking lot; the shrimp was rotten and mushy. Also, don't order the Taco Tuesday special. I wanted to continue to like this restaurant. There are about 4-5 Real de Minas around between Denver and Aurora. I have been to all of them. However, this is the one I've come the most because is the closest to my house. Their food was good in the past. I really enjoyed it. But at this specific location, flavors address a hit or miss. I was served Camarones a la Diabla Witt burned rice and super salty shrimp. I had to send it back to get replaced and still, rice from the same burned pot. I returned it and left without eating. I took my dad's wife for her birthday because she chose it. For a bill of four people including drinks, the waitress ADDED her GRATUITY. When I asked why and disputed it, I was told they just choose who to add gratuity to without having to have a certain number of people at the table. I'm done with this place! We were a party of 6 and a toddler and dined in for dinner on a Sunday night. We arrived separately, but were seated and offered drinks and menus instantly. From the moment we entered the restaurant the staff were so attentive. We all ordered different menu options including pozole, carne asada dinner, shrimp cocktail and sopes. Service was fast, we were all served about the same time and everyone's food was nice and hot. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals there was nothing to complain about. Some in our party ordered margaritas and beers and enjoyed those as well. This restaurant was quite a distance from our hotel in Brighton, but as promised, it was well worth the trip! When I call them I let them know that there was no extra tribe and in fact it's the same portion that I always get. We have been to Real de Minas on Colfax and found it ok. This version is closer to our house and on the way to the movies so we stopped in on a Saturday at dinner hour. It was packed as restaurants tend to be on Saturdays. Managers tend to plan on that sort of thing, but not here. We got a drink order in about 10 min. after sitting down. Those were delivered 10 min. later. Husband chose seafood enchiladas. They were topped with a truly repugnant dill sauce of some sort. Child had a Chimichanga which he thought was edible. I had a combo: Taco, guac tostada, cheese enchilada. You can't mess that up right? Wrong! The taco was mushy, never a good sign. The enchilada was uncooked. Totally uncooked. The cheese wasn't even warm. The hint of enchilada sauce was tasteless. My meal made me cranky. Waiting 10 min. to get the bill made me crankier. We don't need to go back to any of their locations. read more
