Everything we had was totally awesome. Giving it 5 stars, however, we put in our reservation we were celebrating a birthday. We were celebrating two. We were never asked if it was special occasion by host or waiter. It wasn't the exact day but I heard waiter ask every one else. Also kitchen forgot to add the seafood to my gazpacho. Fixed error promptly. It was excellent by the way. Pics of Easter Halibut and Filet Oscar.

We visited Real Seafood Company for dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday, and overall, it was a lovely evening. The restaurant itself is beautiful--bright, modern, and perfect for a special occasion. Parking was easy with nearby public lots and some off-street options as well. We ordered a variety of items: shrimp, fish and chips, Caesar salad, the blackened Atlantic swordfish, and several kids' meals (buttered noodles, mac & cheese, and grilled chicken breast). The bread service was a standout--warm, fresh, and a great way to start the meal. The kids' entrées were a pleasant surprise: generous portions, multiple options, and all were well-received. Highly recommend for families! The blackened swordfish was delicious--well-seasoned, tender, and a definite highlight. Unfortunately, the Caesar salad was a bit watery, and unfortunately the fish and chips were flavorless, a bit too greasy causing the fish to become soggy quickly. I was looking forward to this dish based on previous reviews of it being crispy, flakey and flavorful dish so maybe it was just a hiccup. However the managers attention to detail and willingness to make it right did not go unnoticed! He was very kind! One thing we really appreciated: since it was a birthday dinner, the staff had a card waiting on our table and even brought out a complimentary dessert. Service throughout the night was attentive and friendly. Our server let us know that some dishes are limited in quantity, so it's smart to order early if something catches your eye. We'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu. We enjoyed the overall experience, hospitality, and atmosphere made it a night to remember.

Thanks for another great experience - the sea bass was our favorite! We made reservations for a Friday night and it was moderately busy. We had mentioned our anniversary in our reservation and were greeted with a nice hand written congratulations note on our table when we got sat. Also, one of our desserts was comp'd as a treat. Thank you!

We decided to come before a Broadway GR show. It was a Sunday and they didn't have any open reservations until 6, so we arrived at 4:06 with a hope the wait wouldnt be too long. There was a 45m wait, but open seats at the bar. We put our names in and decided to sit at at the bar to have a few drinks. After sitting down we decided to stay at the bar because the bartender (Lauren I) was really excellent at her job. The beverages were A+ and she was incredibly efficient and kind. The soup came out hot and delicious. Then, the entree. Although my partner was disappointed that they were out of the flounder, he chose the halibut. It was incredibly tender and the risotto was creamy and delicious. I chose the fish and chips. It was so good! I would highly recommend, but would definitely ask for the fries to be extra crispy. I wasn't a huge fan of the Coleslaw, but really the fish was the star of the show. The batter was wonderful and the fish super flaky. Very enjoyable and then it was only a couple minute walk from Devos Performance Hall where the show was. Paired with free weekend meters, I would definitely recommend this before a show.

I came here for dinner before a show at DeVos. I sat at the bar since there was plenty of available seating. The decor is nice and bright. The bar was clean and the server/bartender was attentive. Overall they have decent seafood, but not outstanding. The menu had a good variety, and the portions were fair for the price. I ordered the Baby Kale and Farro Salad with Seared Tuna and it was a little too salty, I am unsure what in the salad was so salty but some bites were almost inedible. The tuna was really good though. It was cooked very well. I also tried some of the she crab soup and it was just okay. I think I was hoping it was a cream based soup like I have tasted at other restaurants in the past. This soup was purely a broth base. It did have a good amount of crab in it for the cup size. It was not a terrible experience but it was not what I was expecting. I do not think I will go out of my way to come back again.

Went for dinner with friends. Loved the feel/vibe of the place. Had a very nice waiter...not the quickest service, but attentive and helpful. I had a green salad - it was good, but I felt way too much dressing. I ordered Bourbon Salmon for dinner with Jasmine rice instead of potatoes, I enjoyed it. My husband got the fish and chips, and his comment was that it was just so, so. The smoked old fashioneds were good, but would have enjoyed a different presentation-drinks were smoked at the bar and poured into glasses at the table. I would go back again if I was in the area...

We visited Real Seafood in Grand Rapids for happy hour. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was inviting. Unfortunately, the drinks were extremely sweet, and the food was over-seasoned -- very salty in particular. On the bright side, the prawns were impressively large.

    Amethyst W.

This food was so good. I had the crabcakes and the scallops at our table and they were both phenomenal. The service was very friendly and fast. We got our food pretty rapidly. And we were seated very rapidly. The restaurant is bright and everything looked wonderful. Don't know how the parking was. We actually walked here from the hotel so we did not park. The building was very easy to find. I would definitely recommend coming back.

Great two-story venue for a special occasion. Service was hit/miss, hence the 3 rating. Server provided great guidance on the fresh oyster selection but didn't check back to refill our water glasses even though they were refilling another table nearby. I give more grace to a small family-owned business than an establishment like this where I expect excellent service. Fresh oysters were delicious as was the scallop risotto.Love how large the scallops were. Blackened fish was good but didn't need the sauce and the guacamole on top. Overall, I liked it better than Leo's which I know many who love it there but I'm not a huge fan.

Conversation with the staff comes so easily. And the food and drink are always delicious. Over the course of the night, we enjoyed the Seafood Cake Duet as our appetizer. Between the two cakes, the shrimp and lobster was definitely our favorite. The cocktails included the 60 Ottawa Old Fashioned, the Femme Fatale and the Cast Away. The old-fashioned was perfectly balanced. My wife loved the other two cocktails, especially the Cast Away. That one in particular was dangerously smooth. It wasn't my first time having the Halibut "oscar style", but I'm a creature of habit and it's hard to pass up. It always tastes fresh, is a milder fish and paired well on the plate with a nicely seasoned rice blend, asparagus and covered in a delightful bearnaise sauce. The wife had the Kvaroy Salmon which she very much enjoyed, but didn't come close to finishing. The brussel sprouts were cooked just right and the balsamic reduction wasn't overpowering, but instead just that right amount of savory. Leo's seems to change up their desserts fairly often, but frequently offer a crème brûlée. We opted for the vanilla bean this time and in hindsight, wish we would've each ordered our own instead of sharing.

It's important to know that if you want to dine here, plan to reserve a table ahead or plan to wait for a table. They hold 50% of table s for walk ins. I sat at the bar and was met with good but indifferent service. I stated with their take on a dirty martini, L'oro sporco, which was very well executed; the honey really balanced the brine. I order the bread, it was stale on the sides and crust but a day ago this would have been a well made foccacia. The whipped Gorgonzola was great. The octopus came next, it had a nice balance of acid, was well seasoned, but some octopus was very overcooked and rubbery. The gnocchi was soft and pillowy with great brown butter notes, however the guanciale was burnt to a crisp and affected the dish. The sauce and tapenade were great. Here's where they shined, the agnolotti - perfectly cooked pasta, nice acid, goat cheese and pea notes. The fried chips provided a really nice contrast to the pasta. The ramp pesto is delicious. The asparagus's and peas are flavorful and well cooked. I can't believe this came out of the same kitchen as the last pasta fish and bread. If they can fix a few easy cooking mistakes and have a more friendly front of house, Allora could be the top of the GR food scene.
