I ordered the sausage and peppers and it was straight up out of this world--flavor was on point, cooked perfectly, just one of those dishes you don't stop thinking about after. Brought the whole staff with me and everybody went different directions--chicken piccata, chicken parmesan, lasagna--and not a single complaint across the table. Expected much more from this apparent authentic Italian restaurant. Our waiter seemed rushed, referenced a busy restaurant and midway through our dinner, asked if we wanted to go boxes. My wife commented that her chicken tasted as if it was cheap recently frozen, then thawed out meat. My plate had little of the reduced Marsala sweetness. And both our entrees lacked taste. I've been going to Reale's for many years. I live across town, but it's always been worth the drive. Tonight was not a good experience. A friend and I split a veggie pizza. The veggies tasted like they had been added after the pizza was cooked. We asked for crispy crust, but it wasn't. My other friend ordered pasta primavera. She was served fettuccini Alfredo. She returned it and although it took a long time to get her meal, it looked like they just put veggies on top of the fettuccini Alfredo. Plus, the waitress never came around. The bus boy had to find her to get the meal exchanged and then we didn't see her again until it was time to pay. All in all, a very disappointing visit. read more

The calamari and mushroom caps were out of this world. We had the fruity de Mare which looked amazing and the chicken Marsala which was good. Then the desserts, their Tiramisu was by far the best I have had in over five years. Fresh, they make it on premises. We also had the chocolate explosion, five kinds of chocolate, mousse, cake, gnash, frosting and chocolate chunks, OMG, it was out of this world. Had an awful experience here tonight all around. Hostess marked our reservation as a no show and cancelled it after we had checked in at front desk. Waitress kept disappearing for long periods of time and ignored us. We sat at table for 30 minutes with dirty dishes and had to ask someone else to clear them. Food was not good. I'm always nervous about reviewing Reale's because shortly after that, I can't get in because they're so busy. Anyway, my daughter discovered this restaurant when she was pregnant in 2008 and was craving real pizza like what we were used to back home in Massachusetts where lots of Italians live. She went back three days in a row. It has become a family favorite. Food is always perfect and exactly what we want. Always served hot. Maybe we visited on an off night but we did not enjoy our experience here as much as others reviewers. The food was ok and I would have given 3 stars; however, the service was amazing so I give it a 4. We got a pasta dish and a pizza. We didn't think it was outstanding but also not terrible. The breadsticks were soaked in butter but somehow hard as a rock though. To their credit, when we pointed this out to the staff, they went in got us a fresh batch. It was better, but didn't seem as great as some of the other reviews have mentioned. The staff were very friendly and did everything they could to make the experience positive. Two thumbs up! Our server was super efficient and clearly knew what she was doing. The employees all work together to make sure tables are taken care of. The menu is full of delicious options, from traditional Italian dishes to some more creative ones. A dish that caught my eye was the scallops Florentino. The only reason I didn't get them is because I ordered the bruschetta for my appetizer and it was a huge amount of food for me. Next time though. They offer many original cocktails. They had the Lenten special, it's a plate described as "Juicy jumbo shrimp dusted in flour and sautéed to perfection, topped with a lemon garlic butter white wine cream sauce. Served with mushrooms risotto and grilled asparagus. With the choice of soup and salad" I chose a salad :) " This was definitely cooked to perfection by my favorite cook Cristian. The flavors are amazing! I had to stop and write this review before I even finished my plate because I don't want to rush through the flavors. My first drink was made from Julie, a lemon drop martini and it was refreshing, sweet but not overwhelming a perfect drink to start my night. I asked Jay Jay to make me a Mexican martini because she checked up on me and OMG this Mexican martini is DEFINITELY a Mexican Martini to perfection!! Love it!!! Service was great! The appetizer trio was just meh. Would not order it again. We got stuffed mushrooms, bruschetta, and mozzarella sticks. The cheese pull on the mozzarella sticks was wildly long and the marinara good. The stuffed mushrooms had a very unappealing texture and just weren't all that great. The bruschetta was made of really fresh ingredients, but the overall dish lacked a flavor punch that I was expecting. Side salads were pretty good. The breadsticks got a mixed review from the table with some finding them very tasty and others finding them a bit chewy. Their pizza has the best crust that I've ever experienced. Underneath it is perfectly crispy. I simply couldn't believe it. We got the eggplant parmigiana and the carbonara. Both were pretty good, but certainly not the best ever. This place is a gem tucked away off of 183 in North Austin nearby Anderson Mill. As soon as you walk in, you notice the lively atmosphere and fun ambiance that this spacious restaurant offers. They have a small stage in the middle of the restaurant because they offer live music on Monday through Thursdays. On Wednesday when we went, there was an older gentleman who sang Jazz songs. I came here for a belated bday dinner in early November with a few girlfriends. I made a reservation for the group of 4 and they were very helpful over the phone when I called about a week in advance. We began with the calamari. It was a whole lot and it tasted so good - which is why I almost didn't get a pic, lol. The garlic bread was buttery and delicious. As an entrée, I went with the Frutti di Mare pasta as a recommendation by the server. It was so good. I was also able to try the Spinach lasagna which was very good. My friend who has the Sauteed Salmon enjoyed it. The only dish that didn't standout was the Spaghetti and meatballs, which weren't bad but also nothing to write home about, according to my friend who tried it. I will say that the portions were very generous we each had the option of taking the rest home and for the price range, I would say it was more than reasonable. Around us, the Jazz Crooner, sang many happy birthdays to the tables around the restaurant which tipped us off to the fact that we were not alone in celebrating a birthday. In honestly seemed like the place to be if you are a Scorpio in the North Austin area, looking to celebrate. For dessert, we had a slice the chocolate eruption cake which was massive and delicious. It was okay. The food was bland and we had to salt it--we never salt takeout. The calamari was okay. We ordered through Grubhub because my husband had a taste for a chicken parm sub. Again, it was okay. The first one we got was pink inside and tasted undercooked. We submitted a refund to get a new one and that one was also pink, but tasted okay, so hopefully he doesn't end up with food poisoning. I got tortellini ala carbonara. Again, it was okay. Not great, not bad, just fine. Nothing is all that flavorful so we probably won't order from them again, but the food is t bad, just not to our taste! read more

We love this place. My wife would go there just for the bread. I prefer more a plain bread with EVOO dipping, but I think it's still very good. If you go there, bring a VERY BIG appetite. The servings are more than generous. The fried calamari is made with a large squid, more than we could finish in one sitting, and they provide the tentacles, which some places don't. The fried calamari is seasoned, again, which some places don't do (many places just use plain breading). Nice hot (temperature) marinara dipping sauce. This visit, I had the linguine with white clam sauce. It's covered in clams and is delicious. My wife had the Frutti di mare, and it was excellent. Service was perfect. Spaghetti ... tasted home made and the sauce was really good. Nice size portion to accompany each entree. The good or a bit better - The egg plant parmigiana (had, oops, said lasagna at first). Tasty, but not a slightly crunchy exterior, so it sort of collapsed into the spaghetti. And, served on an ordinary plate, not a baking dish ... odd presentation. Pork chop was tasty, slightly overcooked (so a tad dry), and, the accompanying veggies were nothing special. Decent coffee (but our server sort of disappeared, so no refill offered). Mussels were fine, New Zealand Green lip, in a nice white, garlicky sauce. The could be better - Salad was good size, but underwhelming / quite ordinary. The meatballs were fairly bland, and quite forgettable (despite the fantastic, hearty, red sauce). Cannolis (3 small ones, nice portion) were disappointing, as they tasted store bought, not freshly stuffed with a sweetish, creamy ricotta filling. The atmosphere, sadly, was a mishmash of high energy Irish pub-like, without a traditional Italian feel or smell -- quite unlike the Italian restaurants I frequented in NYC and Queens, as a kid growing up near NYC. Igot chicken Genovese. It sounded great. The sauce lacked body, and was kinda watery, but fell short of how good that dish could be. My husband's fettuccine Alfredo was a B. Overall good. Not great. Kinda interesting. Atmosphere was actually very intriguing. Just based on the parking lot in the area, you would not expect a warm and cozy little joint. Overall, I liked that they went above and beyond to decorate and creative atmosphere. That was unique the second you walked in. Food: the food was overall OK. We started with the calamari. The breading was light, which is what I liked. However the seasoning was not what I thought it would be when I tried the red sauce they paired with it. I didn't feel like it was a great match. Then we had the lobster ravioli. Overall this dish was very good. However, the only reason I'm not saying it was great was due to the fact that the lobster was a bit more chewy than I think it should have been the sauce the pasta, and everything else were very good. We did try some other breadsticks and you could tell they were homemade. Very, very good but a bit dense. Lastly, we tried the dessert which was the cannoli. This might have been my first time actually trying out cannoli, and it was a bit too sweet for me. Almost like eating pure sugar. I think this would've been a better treat if it wasn't so sweet maybe a bit more creamy. Service: service was interesting. I think we were one of two or three tables in the restaurant and was able to be seated very quickly. However, our waiter was either very new or just by nature very awkward. From the time we sat down to the time we left, he made our experience a bit uncomfortable, just on the way he interacted with us by not being able to ask questions or even seem like he potentially had even interacted with people before. I'll Give this to him, he was attentive, just might need a bit more training or coaching on how to interact with people. Most of us don't bite, I promise. It's the kind of place that looks like it's 2-3 months away from being elegible for a total restaurant makeover tv show. The last public award was in 2019. It's now 2024. Darn all those positive reviews online that made this place sound worthwhile. It's mediocre at best. The marinara sauce watery. The meatballs lukewarm, under salted, not flavorful, depending on marinara for flavor. It tasted like meatballs from a can. The breadsticks doughy-- unexpectedly chewy -- as if undercooked . The lasagna cheese cooled down too fast making it underwhelming-- too little sauce for the amount of lasagna. Better off with Stouffer's lasagna than this place. Reales has live entertainment 3 times a week, we choose a booth where we both had a view of our crooner. He could have upped his game a bit. The restaurant was almost completely empty which may have affected his enthusiasm. I found this lovely gem of a family-owned restaurant on Yelp! when I needed to feed teenagers between events at our academic tournament at Westwood HS. The online ordering was really straightforward. The food was ready early: 2 cheese pizzas, garlic bread and a sandwich for the girl who gave up cheese for Lent. I was too hungry to remember photos, but I will absolutely remember the host who checked on our food, packed everything we could possibly need, and filled me in on the history of the restaurant. Went on a Friday night and they were busy, which is obviously a good sign. We ordered spaghetti with meatballs, spaghetti with bolognese, chicken Alfredo and a cheese pizza. The food was excellent and especially liked the grill on the chicken on the Alfredo. Pizza was really good too with a crispy, ample crust. I haven't been in probably 7-8 years but met a friend there for lunch today. They've completed remodeled at some point and it's pretty nice. I got the half meatball lunch lunch sandwich with the house salad and both were delicious. They also serve bread while you're waiting for your food which is always nice.
