My personal favorite Italian joint. Always amazing. Always delicious. Great pizza, great salads and a truly scrumptious red sauce (gravy).

Shrimp Alfredo

Decided to visit here because I had a craving for Italian. The place is cozy. Nothing super fancy here... not to me, at least. The staff took good care of me. Ordered the Shrimp Alfredo. I agree with the guy in the booth behind me when he said the sauce could've been thicker. The shrimps were large. The bread was served warm and seasoned well. Jury is out on whether I'll return. I do recommend this place, however.

FIVE MILLION STARS FOR REALES! If you're craving authentic Italian food, run--don't walk--to Reales. My boyfriend and I come here at least once a week (and order takeout from here at least once a week, too). It's that good. The moment you walk in, you're wrapped in the coziest atmosphere. It truly feels like you've been invited to your Nonna's dining room table--comforting, delicious, and full of heart. The cocktails are fantastic, and three nights a week you can enjoy live music that makes everything feel even more magical. Shoutout to Thomas on Saxophone The menu is huge, in the best way. There are a million options and somehow every single dish is incredible, so it never gets old. In my usual rotation though: meatballs, calamari, Marie's salad, chicken parmesan, and white pizza!! It's the perfect spot whether you're bringing kids or planning a date night. A special shoutout to Bobby, our favorite server--he always makes us feel so welcome and somehow anticipates what we need before we even know we need it. Truly the best. We love this place so much. The only downside? They're closed on Sundays, which honestly feels tragic when you're craving Reales. Which proves even further how amazing it is if we eat from here 2 out of 6 days! We can't say enough wonderful things about this restaurant. Five million stars!

We enjoyed the Two Lobster Valentine's day special. Special seasoning on shell offered a nice complement to to lobster meat itself. We usually come Monday evening when slow - Packed at 5 on VD but service was top notch

Lenten Special - Shrimp Brione

Today is Friday and I decided to come to reales and spend an evening with myself reading a book and eating good food. They had the Lenten special, it's a plate described as "Juicy jumbo shrimp dusted in flour and sautéed to perfection, topped with a lemon garlic butter white wine cream sauce. Served with mushrooms risotto and grilled asparagus. With the choice of soup and salad" I chose a salad :) " This was definitely cooked to perfection by my favorite cook Cristian. The flavors are amazing! I had to stop and write this review before I even finished my plate because I don't want to rush through the flavors. My first drink was made from Julie, a lemon drop martini and it was refreshing, sweet but not overwhelming a perfect drink to start my night. I asked Jay Jay to make me a Mexican martini because she checked up on me and OMG this Mexican martini is DEFINITELY a Mexican Martini to perfection!! Love it!!! Reales is a place to come and relax after a long week of working so hard, everyone is super friendly and everyone makes you feel very welcomed always with a smile and providing amazing customer service! Joel is also a great guy, always making sure the staff is taken care of which trickles to customers being treated even better! This is a must visit Italian restaurant!

Spinach Lasagna

This place is a gem tucked away off of 183 in North Austin nearby Anderson Mill. As soon as you walk in, you notice the lively atmosphere and fun ambiance that this spacious restaurant offers. They have a small stage in the middle of the restaurant because they offer live music on Monday through Thursdays. On Wednesday when we went, there was an older gentleman who sang Jazz songs. I came here for a belated bday dinner in early November with a few girlfriends. I made a reservation for the group of 4 and they were very helpful over the phone when I called about a week in advance. We began with the calamari. It was a whole lot and it tasted so good - which is why I almost didn't get a pic, lol. The garlic bread was buttery and delicious. As an entrée, I went with the Frutti di Mare pasta as a recommendation by the server. It was so good. I was also able to try the Spinach lasagna which was very good. My friend who has the Sauteed Salmon enjoyed it. The only dish that didn't standout was the Spaghetti and meatballs, which weren't bad but also nothing to write home about, according to my friend who tried it. I will say that the portions were very generous we each had the option of taking the rest home and for the price range, I would say it was more than reasonable. Around us, the Jazz Crooner, sang many happy birthdays to the tables around the restaurant which tipped us off to the fact that we were not alone in celebrating a birthday. In honestly seemed like the place to be if you are a Scorpio in the North Austin area, looking to celebrate. For dessert, we had a slice the chocolate eruption cake which was massive and delicious. It was plenty for 4 people to get a taste and more. As a chocolate lover, I was more than pleased!

I love Chicken Marsala but can't eat eggs. Is the chicken dipped in egg before cooking? Is there any egg used in your sauce? Thank you!

Hi! Thanks for asking. There are no eggs in Chicken Marsala! I hope you enjoy one soon - it’s one of my favorites.

This restaurant was everything I could of asked for. Probably the best restaurant we tried in all of Austin. I'm from Los Angeles, and have been to many high end and hip restaurants, this was definitely up there with some of the best restaurants. Food: Crab tagliatelle is a must! This dish was delicious and everything you can ask for from a pasta. Gnocchi special with Peas and Asperagus is a must. This creamy and feather light dish was packed with so much flavour. Lobster scalloping was very good as well and so was the filet mignon. But best of all were the side of carrots, pear and endive salad and the Cho salad. My drink was the basil cocktail was was phenomenal. Everything was just so so very good. Our waitress Tiagna was an absolute delight in every way. Thank you so much!!!

We arrived at 8:00 p.m. and left a little after 10:00 p.m. The food was delicious. My man absolutely loved his seafood pasta dish! He doesn't even eat pasta but he scraped that plate dry. I highly recommend ordering family style for the table but make sure your whole party is on board with splitting the check evenly because the restaurant does not break up the check according to diners only split evenly, I believe up to four ways. Example: Our check was $822 (included gratuities) for seven people and we were only able to split evenly four ways. Roughly $118 each. It is what it is but I didn't even get a main course. Just a glass of wine, a half of a piece of bruschetta, some of the Caesar salad and a small portion of the gnocchi (all shared) I'm glad I got to experience Red Ash, but now that I've checked that off my list, I'm good.

After giving our keys away we walked into what is a beautiful outside area at Juliet's. It's a nice mix of feeling like you're in downtown Austin but also not. We went inside to request two seats outside and this is unfortunately where everything fell apart. After being seated all the way at the very corner of the restaurant near the entrance, we didn't receive water for 15 minutes. In fact, we had to ask for water, as well as silverware, from a person who was cleaning a table- not a waiter. We didn't order until about 30 minutes after being seated. We noticed that others around us who were dressed nicer for the occasion were receiving service but we were not (jeans and a nice top as opposed to a dressy outfit). This is less of an accusation and more of an observation. It took another waiter noticing that we had not been served to come over and take our order, and that was 5 minutes after we had to flag down a busser to ask for water. The flip side of that whole first part is that the food was pretty good. We got complimentary table bread (after we asked for it since it never came before our main meal) that was soft and went well with the olive oil it came with. For our entrees we got the shrimp scampi and chicken parm. The shrimp scampi was fantastic and light with creamy and bold flavors in-between. The chicken parm was maybe the largest chicken cutlet we've seen given out at a restaurant. Not only was the cutlet massive but it was delicious as well with a nice, light breading and cheese on top. The spaghetti alongside it was a nice touch but this was a true chicken parm entree as it should be. We were offered a complimentary dessert as an apology for the miscues before we ate but turned it down (still good of them to offer). Leaving was easy as the valet was very attentive and quick to get our car. We wish we could say our time at Juliet's was perfect because the setting and food are very nice and a fun change of pace from the surrounding blocks. However, it's difficult to overlook the mistakes made from the jump. We noticed that another table next to us was also experiencing bad service and looked unhappy enough to leave in the middle of their meal/ We're always open to having good food again so hopefully the next time we're here things are different. Just an unfortunate bittersweet taste to what otherwise would have been a fantastic meal.

They offer valet parking but we were able to get free parking on the street. We were greeted promptly upon arrival and seated in a booth with a view of the entirestaurant, which made the whole experience feel a bit more relaxed and elevated. It's a lively space, but the booth still gave us a comfortable corner to settle into and enjoy the meal. The service was elevated with friendly conversation. We started the meal with complimentary focaccia bread, which came out warm and topped with fresh herbs. The waiter brought out olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping upon request. For dinner, we started with the Caesar Salad alla Tommy, which I remember from a previous dining experience was a highlight. The Caesar salad was so fresh and flavorful with a nice balance of creamy and tangy flavors and a crunchy bite. For our entrees, I ordered the Mafaldine with unghi & tartufo which turned out to be the most memorable pasta of the table. The dish had a cream sauce with mushrooms and truffles that was rich, well-textured, and comforting without feeling heavy. The Chicken Parmigiana was a generous portion size that was satisfying, with a solid crisp on the breading and a good layer of sauce and cheese. It was served with a side of pasta. Overall, it's a strong option for classic Italian in Austin, especially if you can catch a reservation during a busy week.

Sammie's has been hyped up on social media for a long time and I gotta say it's still underrated! I will gladly have Sammie's take the Pepsi challenge against red sauce joints in NYC/NJ etc. In fact, I've told friends and family that I am going to take them to Sammie's when they visit from there. We just had such a fantastic experience - everything..the vibe..the red light fixtures and the color of the booths and the floor..the service - our server was great..loved their outfits..really had an old school little italy feel to it. The food was much better than I even anticipated - as a guy who grew up on NJ diner mozzarella sticks, I have a high bar for them and these were magnificent. And seriously...taking the "everything's bigger in Texas" slogan and applying them to mozzarella sticks?! top 10 achievements of the decade. The chicken parm was perfect - well seasoned, proper amount of crisp..the basil on top...the perfect browning of the cheese. Also the lasanga was excellent..and best part - the leftovers..took it home and the next two days put them in a small cast iron and re-heated them..and the magic was right there in my hill country kitchen! Lastly and certainly not least - the cannoli...just look at the photo below.. I'll say, yes, the place is pricey but you can really easily split these entrees and then it becomes cheaper than a jersey strip center Italian joint. I haven't stopped raving about Sammie's since I've been there, and I cannot wait to return, recommend it, and take friends and family that visit.

That's the reason my rating wasn't 5 Star. Because the restaurant was pretty empty on this Saturday afternoon, I feel the Chef shouldn't have sent out fries that weren't piping hot. We went on a Thursday night and it was pretty busy, but everyone who came in was still able to get a table. It feels very authentic. No Italian-American staples like Alfredo, meatballs, or garlic bread, which was actually refreshing since I'm so used to that style. You can either sit down first and take your time with the menu, or order in line before grabbing a table. Either way, they're very chill about it.
