Whenever I'm in small towns, I worry that I'll have no choice but to eat either greasy diner food or at a fast-food chain (this is why Yelp is so handy). My family and I were drawn in by the rave reviews of Red Bluff Taphouse, and I'm happy to report that no small town meal regrets were had here! As you can imagine from the name, they have taps for days. I started out with a fantastic peanut butter stout, and the steak wrap as my main. My parents both ordered burgers, and I have to applaud the bacon jam usage here because it was spot. on. ALSO, their sweet potato fries are waffle fries, so do yourself a favor and get on those ASAP. After a day of exhilarating whitewater rafting on the White Salmon River, we were parched, famished, and hankerin' for some decent chow. Stevenson was right on our way home, so we checked out the menus of some of the local eateries and Red Bluff Taphouse took the cake. Established in 2016, the place has not been there very long, but it is very welcoming with lots of wood and light from the large windows facing the street. The dining room is not huge, but they have a separate bar area and a small terrace overlooking their neighbors and the mighty Columbia River just a few blocks away. Unfortunately, there was no room on the terrace, so we took a booth in the front near the street. I ordered the Fortside Newest IPA (Vancouver, WA - 6.8 ABV, 61 IBU) and my son got the Buoy Beer Cream Ale (Astoria, OR - 5.7% ABV, 19 IBU). My IPA was smooth and hoppy, but not the best I have had by far. I tasted my son's cream ale and it was also quite tasty. At $5.75 a pop, beer is not a huge bargain here by Pacific NW standards, but I have seen much worse. We both chose a burger for our meal, one Shoulda, Gouda, Woulda ($15) with bacon (+$1.50) for me and the Tap House Burger ($14) for my son. The burgers were thick and large, obviously handmade, and cooked to perfection, coming on a large, toasted potato bun. Mine came with Gouda cheese and their signature bacon jam along with the fresh lettuce and tomato as well as a massive portion of crispy, homemade, hand-cut fries ... HOOAH! The service was friendly and efficient even though our server never bothered telling us her name. The food was delicious, fresh, not frozen, and filling for the price. We attend PCT days every single year to run a booth for my gear company, Kula Cloth. We usually stay in Stevenson... and even though there are numerous eating options... we eat at Red Bluff Taphouse... every single night. My employees LOVE LOVE LOVE the Shoulda Woulda Gouda Burger and they talk about it all year - and look forward to PCT days specifically so we can go 'get that burger' the staff are fantastic and friendly - and the food is delicious! We were just looking for some grub and beer after a trip up Dog Mountain. I was not expecting to have the best food I've tasted all year, including some fancy Portland restaurants. I had the bao sliders and an incredible Brussel sprout/pork belly bowl. My friends were equally impressed with their meals, enough that we went out of our way to come back the next day. dropped in on a Sunday after visiting the Columbia Interpretive Center. the staff was very young but very efficient and attentive. the menu is varied and quite interesting, and I bet most people could find something that really jumps out at them. nice interior design, theres a bar area and tables and booths, and there's an outdoor dining area with picnic tables too if that's your preference. my GPS brought me to the back door through the alley for some reason, but probably best to come in through the front door at the street. I was considering the cuban sandwich and I ended up with the IPA battered fish tacos, and my date ordered the kickin' chicken. no regrets for either of us: we both like a lot of flavor and spice with our dishes and we enjoyed both. I didn't get a chance to try their beers but their selection looked nice. I had a great time there and even came back later that week, but they were closed. not sure if that's a regular thing to be closed on a Tuesday, maybe it was just a COVID thing. It was pretty dead so we selected the customizable flight and the dirty hippie burrito. Beers were good but the ciders were better. The issue was the food. After waiting for 45 minutes with zero check-ins we finally inquired about the burrito only to learn the server had no idea what we ordered and wait for it... forgot to put in the order. #Winning? No longer interested in the food or wasting more time we canceled the order. The ultimate disappointment came when the server made no attempt to apologize or offer some form of compensation. Hey Glen from Monrovia, CA - got news for you: We were sitting right next to you and your story is right out of Hollywood - just a story. Yes, you had steak salad and a beer. When asked by the server if things were going OK you said yes, all good. Once you consumed all of the protein (beef) and most of the beer you commented about the missing 'butter lettuce' in the salad according to the menu. My wife and I have seen this ruse before - find a small family owned restaurant, order a nice meal, consume most of it and complain about service, quality, etc. get a free meal. We watched it happen with you. The server caught you in the act as well and politely asked you to leave - with them picking up your food and beer tab. Your mission was accomplished once again. This is a cool, hipster kind of place with some innovative pub grub. I had the smoked salmon flat bread for $12 and an IPA and it was an enjoyable meal. I pass through Stevenson often on my fishing adventures in the gorge and this place is definitely one of the best choices for craft beer. They have around 14 taps and a medium sized menu. Probably more of a burger place but I have a $10 limit on how much I am willing to spend on a burger. The dude next to me had the Mac and cheese and it looked pretty good. Service was ok. Cute cozy taphouse located in Stevenson. Found this gem after hiking. Great location and selection of beers. Staff was friendly and the menu was amazing! The Brussel sprouts were the best! I could just order that and eat it in one sitting! I ordered the shoulda gouda woulda burger! I loved how they grilled the inside of the bun..and the burger was cooked a great medium rare...but if you are a well done kinda burger eater make sure you ask. After hiking to see the many falls along the river, Red Bluff Taphouse was the perfect stop for us. Parking is easy in this small town; there were plenty of spots on the street. When you walk in, this place is so cute! It's right on a road with many shops and the ambiance is very urban brewery. The staff was kind; it was seat yourself style when we got in. They have lots of indoor tables and a few picnic tables in the back patio. The patio has an excellent view so I highly recommend eating out back. The staff was quick to introduce themselves and the drink list was long. They have excellent cocktails so if you're not a beer drinker, branch out and try one of their specialities! Our food took quite some time to get to us because were there during the lunch rush around 12:30pm. The staff might not have been used to such a busy day because they seemed overwhelmed but it was a small town so patience is a virtue and they were all very nice. Once we got our food, it was good. I didn't love the mac and cheese because I felt like it needed more cheese and less garlic. But my friends loved the fish tacos! They said they were flavorful, spicy, and juicy.
