I absolutely HATE walking into a nail shop and they stare at you and DO NOT SPEAK! These people are rude and racist! I asked for a gel polish color change, she tells me $30! I ask well then what is the cost of a gel manicure, the lady Then asked to see my nails! She shoo'd me away and says "we don't do fake nails". Quick and easy place to get nails done. Super convenient because there is parking and it's right on Ridge. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Prices are great, and the place is very clean which is the most important thing to me. They accept cash and card and have a good selection of colors to choose from. Removed 1 Star because a nail chipped on day 2 and it is now progressively chipping more. I'd expect at least 1 week without peeling or chipping from a gel manicure. Deducted another star for lack of ambience or cleanliness in the salon. When I came in for my appointment, there wasn't anyone available so a guy who seemed like a manager took off my old polish. There was a basket with cuticle pushers and a cuticle trimmer that was already on the table and it looked like a manicure was just finished. I'm not sure what the cleaning process is between manicures, but it didn't not appear to me that any cleaning of tools occurred before or after. Tables and arm rests were pretty worn. Overall not the most appealing or clean looking facility. I have gotten my nails done here a few times and I've always loved my results! I've gotten regular manicures, gel manicures, pedicures, and full acrylic sets done here. It is always busy in there, but I have never had to wait super long because they are always well-staffed. Everything is clean and the technicians do a great job. They have a punch-card system and they offer a discount if you pay in cash. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the aesthetics. Even though it is super clean, there isn't anything special about the way it looks. They have TVs and play regular music instead of relaxing "spa" music. A lot of times when I go to get my nails done, I want a relaxing experience, and I feel like Red Cat lacks that type of ambiance. However, most of the time I just need to get them done last minute for an event or because they're a hot mess, so this is the perfect place for that. read more

This used to be the place to go for an incredible pedicure experience. That is no longer the case. The last 3 times I went (WITH an appointment) I was rushed through, charged for services which I did NOT receive and tonight I asked my nail technician to please put on gloves after noticing a contagious skin condition on her hands, and she told me no. I asked why. Her reasoning was that it makes it harder for her to do her job. I insisted, and she went on to make fun of me with her coworker and take her gloves off halfway through. This review is for Mary. I asked to get my acrylic nails removed and for a gel manicure. One technician ripped off half my acrylic nails and then Mary came over to do the rest of them. She acted as if I had done something wrong.... slamming down tools.... sighing loudly. I asked her if I did something wrong and she did not respond. I asked her to just clean up my nails and apply clear polish so I could get out of there!!! It was so uncomfortable!!! I would not recommend this place. My pedicure was a bad experience. The nail tech put very minimal effort into it. Like, 20 seconds getting the dead skin off my feet. She wasn't very nice either, and I think she realized this and her mood did change around. The leg massage was painful. My toes were drying for two minutes when I was asked to pay. She tried to charge me for the most expensive pedicure but her boss fixed this. I walked outside to see my nails were already smudged. She had already accidentally gotten nail polish on my new pricey leather sandals, thankfully they came off, and my toes were wet and they were trying to get the sandals off to fix it. I explained I didn't want to ruin the sandals and I asked for a refund. The boss didn't give me a hard time and refunded me immediately. I hate to be so negative about a place. A lot of people seem to like it here and maybe it was just a bad day for my nail tech. I know this job can probably be difficult at times but I really don't feel like I was treated fairly. read more

Service is typically consistently good regardless of who takes care of you. Today's experience was a little underwhelming. The nail tech working on my nails engaged in A LOT of distracting personal conversations with other nail techs and yanked my hands towards her while I was getting a gel manicure. I felt like I was inconveniencing her as she sighed and seemed to make fun of others. I wanted to say something to the lay that seemed to be the manager, but the place was getting busy and my nails look great. Diana was so gentle with my cut and literally didn't hurt me at all. Usually when i get my nails done I'm squeamish because it sometimes hurt but nope not this time. I always get the $49 special pedi because it has 3-4 different spa treatments if I'm not mistaken + a 20 minutes foot massage. You cannot beat that price anywhere you go. I came here for the first time for a pedicure this morning. The atmosphere is clean and calm. The staff are friendly and efficient. They had a variety of nail polish colors to choose from. Ellen did my pedicure. She was very good. They also have free wifi and off-street parking which can be hard to find in this area. I will be returning again! read more

When we arrived (right on time) all the chairs were full and we were completely ignored when we came in. Someone came up and asked if I was the appointment.. uh yes!!! So they then basically told me they were full... even though I called 4 days prior to set up the appointment. So why would I make an appointment if they don't honor it?? I was so mad. I've been getting my nails done here for more than 2 years. The store is clean. The owners are sweet, the girls are friendly. And they always do a great job. Most of the time my Gel Manicure lasts almost 3 weeks. Definately suggest an appointment on weekends, though, as they get busy! One other note, (and I always pay attention to these things), staff turnover is low, which tells me the owners are doing something right. I have been going to this salon ever since they open and have always had a good experience. I can say today though that I had one of the worst manicures ever. I think the girls name that did my manicure was Lis ? (she wasn't even wearing a name tag). When I asked for my nails to be cut and shaped she argued with me about cutting them. I continued to ask her to just cut them and file them to shape them. She did not listen and continued to file my extremely long nails all the way down to the nail bed. She proceeded to cut my cuticles very roughly not even pushing them back before she did and cut me with the cuticle cutters. My nails literally hurt when I left. I walked out of there anything but relaxed. I will still return to this salon because all of their other technicians do such a great job. This place is unbelievable. I had been going here for a long time, and they were going a good job, but today they absolutely blew my mind. Just to preface, a while ago there was a wonderful staff there that I enjoyed. At any point you could walk in and receive service. There were several girls who did wonderful work on acrylic nails, except for one whose name is Isabella and I recently found out is the owner. Now, all of that staff is gone - either fired or quit. So only one woman and Isabella can do acrylic. Isabella would always do my nails so quickly that the buffer would get too hot and burn, and she would cut me with the file. I asked not to be put with her again, which I think caused this whole situation. Today I called to make an appointment, and after some shuffling around a woman got on the phone and told me they would not do my nails for me because the owner (Isbella$ doesn't like me. Doesn't like me!! Now, keep in mind that everytime I go there, I always tip over 20%. I never complained, or asked the staff to redo something because I didn't like the color or style, etc. Yet, because I said that I didn't like how one woman did my nails, I'm banned from the salon. As a business owner, it's not your job to like every person that comes through the door. I've never heard such a ridiculous statement and because of that, I will not be recommending this place to anyone. Even if I was "allowed," I would never return to this salon again. I've been to Red Cat about a total of five times now. All experiences have been rather pleasant overall. Last week, I came for a gel mani. I thought my nails looked pretty phenomenal and took several photos for my very positive Yelp review. Within a few days though, my nails chipped. Typically, my gel manis last over 2 weeks - almost 3 weeks at times (though they've grown out). Fast forward to today... I was in the area and needed a pedi. I decided to try Red Cat again since I've had great experiences before. Upon entering and letting them know what I would need done, I told the owner and another tech that I was just here the week before for a gel mani and that my nails are already chipped. Immediately, they corrected it! They took a look at my nails, and the super sweet tech not only fixed the ones that were chipped, but she redid everything as she said the color faded - sooo thoughtful and went out of her way completely! So thankful! Totally unlike other most salons who would give you 52 reasons as to why it chipped already and how you'll have to pay to get it fixed. Big points for Res Cat here! Besides their seemingly obvious dedication to keeping their clients happy, they also provide the fastest pedi I've ever had. Under 45 minutes! And that includes a leg/foot massage plus a shoulder massage - can't beat it! All for $25. Amazing. The place is clean, quiet, and the techs are good and fast! When I get my nails done, I'm usually not trying to make it into an all day affair so I'm sooooo pleased that they are so quick here! read more

I just moved back to the area after being gone for 4+ years and during my time away, finding a good nail shop was always hit or miss and even the hits sent you home with a miss now and then. I hadn't had a Mani/pedi since late August because I've been so turned off and skeptical of new shops. Well my nails looked extra WRONG so I decided to give Red Cat a go and I have NO regrets. Everyone was very nice and inviting. I like my gel manicure and my pedi and the girl who did them, Elisa (I believe), was amazing! She wasn't too extra and not too mute. I'm so satisfied! Man did I miss the east coast!!! I'll definitely be back as a regular and I definitely recommend this place! Update: although [I think] I will still recommend this place, I had to take away a star. I got my nails done on Saturday and they started chipping Monday, just like a lot of other reviewers mentioned. I've been getting gel manis for as long as I can remember and my nails NEVER chip. If they do, it's literally at least 2 weeks in when they need redone anyway. This is very disappointing. Another thing to note is that I went in for a gel manicure but my hands didn't take a single dip in any ounce of water & my cuticles are looking low key trashy. I'm annoyed. I was super impressed with this place--especially after the mixed reviews. A clean, quiet place to get your nails done (loud conversations are discouraged) with a very polite and respectful staff. I walked in on a Saturday around 11am, was immediately given a tech, no one loomed over me while I picked my colors, and when I mentioned that my heels were a mess I received a clear "our special callous treatment is $7 extra. That should take care of what you have just fine." And it did! 4 days later and my hand polish still looks really good (and I haven't put any additional top on), and my feet are feeling soft. My cuticles look fab, too, though today I'm starting to get little hang nails as things grow. PROS: Clean, quiet, reasonably priced, polite staff, YOU CAN PUT A TIP ON YOUR CREDIT CARD HERE, free parking in the rear, the best massage chair I've ever sat in. CONS: I was warned that it gets super busy once PhillyU starts classes again, parking seems to be a competitive sport in that lot. The salon on Main Street that I kept going to was way too crowded and I realized I was not relaxed after leaving from getting my nails done and I'm SO glad I decided to venture elsewhere because this place is amazing. My friend and I came 15 minutes late to our appointment and they still took us 20 minutes before closing! Rosa was very thorough and detailed in her work. It was only $25 for a gel manicure with a nice brief massage after! It was not busy and I didn't feel rushed at all even though they were clearly trying to close for the night. Well... I didn't think that spending hours in a nail salon was my idea of a good time, but I have been waiting for my appointment for 2 weeks. I have been coming here for years and the service is really good. Isabella is very cordial and she always accommodates my scheduling requests. Everyone is really good there, but my favorite is Hannah (for DIP and pedicure), Nicole and Maria as well. So glad I went today and cant way for my next visit. The DIP stays pretty nice for 3 weeks for me. It is $40 for regular DIP and $55 for french DIP. I normally have color 65 DIP but this time I added french to this color instead of the french lighter color. read more
