Everybody is here for good eats and the line moves pretty quickly. You order and pay in one line and wait for your food in another area. We had a little bit of everything: Halibut with fish and chips Pacific codfish and chips Fried dill pickles Albacore Tuna tacone Salmon tacone Clam chowder Everything was superb! Definitely get an assortment of everything. The halibut pieces were bigger than the cod. It was also more flavorful, as in the cod was milder tasting than the halibut. I was cleaning up my food pictures and realized I didn't write a review for a fish shack we visited on a cruise that stopped in Victoria, BC. We were looking for fresh fish and chips and found this little Fish shack on the water. Everybody in the family ordered variations of fish and chips ranging from fresh pacific cod, fresh halibut or fresh salmon. They also have seafood tacos, grilled fish and clam chowder. Our goal was to find fresh fish and chips. The fish has a nice crunchy batter, the fish is very fresh, not oily and the fries are crispy and fried well, not under or over cooked. The fries had extra salt and the fish retained a little bit of oil. The Cole slaw was good and the tarter sauce had the right amount of relish. Red Fish, Blue Fish is one of the better fish and chips we have had. If you are on a cruise stopping over or visiting Victoria, stop by to have very good fish and chips. We went to Red Fish Blue Fish while on a day trip to Victoria. Although the line was long, it passed quickly. The people taking orders were kind and friendly, mindful that most customers had waited 30 minutes or more to order. The restaurant is right next to the marina on the pier, so there are plenty of places to stand or sit while enjoying good views of the water or passing boats. The food was delicious! Between the ambience/view and the food.. this place is delish! We got the cod fish and chips $20 for one big piece and the salmon $20 ish. Both were flavored and cooked well. Even the fries were good! We also tried a chipotle seafood chowder, which was a little thinner than we expected but pretty good! The tartar sauce and slaw was delicious and we also gt their chipotle spicy mayo & spicy spot prawn sauce. Along with this we ordered their jerk fish poutine which was divine and their tostada which was good. But if there is one thing you MUST eat its their fish & chips. Pretty good, but a few gripes: - Topsides were nice n crispy, but undersides were soft, even after only a minute or two. - First fish fell out of the fried casing, so they weren't bonded enough. - Second fish was sometimes tough to bite bc it probably still had cod meat from directly under the skin. Tartar sauce was great, but I often needed to take a few bites of the fish before I could fit it into the container again. So, the tartar cup should be wider. Coleslaw had zero mayo, which is greater blasphemy than Galileo in 1633. Poutine was pretty dang good, and had a meaty note. Probably bc of the Caribbean sauce. Orange soda tasted more like a flat lemon. Finally, this place is expensive asl for, essentially, street food - EIGHTY dabloons for, like, 3 or 4 bowls! read more

We tried a cup of their chowder, too spicy for me but loaded with veggies especially corn and chunks of white fish. It was OK but i would not order again. It was a sunny, albeit chilly, day but the chowder was warming and we managed to avoid the rain. There's a small shelter nearby but so many people were standing in front of it that it was barely visible from the place where we entered. We found some turquoise colored metal cubes to use as seats and a makeshift table. Between us we had a cup of Chowder, a Wild Salmon Tacone, and a Wild Salmon Sandwich with coleslaw. Yum yum yummmmm !! Our cruise ship went to Victoria for a few hours and aside from the Hop On Hop Off Bus, Red Fish Blue Fish was our only stop and man it was worth the wait. We had a bit of a hard time finding Red Fish and Blue Fish. I knew it was by the water somewhere, but stumbled upon some stairs leading down to the long line of people. There were some stools/seating along the pier overlooking the water. We had a great few of some sea planes and boats. Yes there was a line. But the line moved fairly fast. The chowder was really tasty and full of flavor. My husband and I shared a cup and it was enough for both of us as a quick "snack" as they gave us the chowder before our Tacones were ready. The Alcabore Tuna Tostada Style was probably my favorite out of the four Tacones we had. The crunch from the crunchy tortilla and slaw matched perfect with the soft seared tuna. The Wild Salmon Tacone had great flavor and the salmon tasted fresh and didn't have a fishy taste (actually all of the fish didn't have that fishy taste). The Tempura Cod was soooo good. The batter on the cod was perfect. The Jerk Fish Tacone was also full of flavor, but I wish it had a bit of a kick. Menu has some nice options but they do excel in your basic fish and chips. They offer wild salmon, halibut and cod for fried fish options. I had the cod and it was perfectly crispy and not soggy at all. The chips were also perfectly crispy! Twice fried perhaps? You can also get like as a taco-wrap (tacone) or sandwich. If you are looking for a less fried option, you can get grilled wild salmon or albacore over salad! I got the wild salmon and it was a generous serving over greens. Instead of your standard new England style chowder theirs was Chipotle coconut based with white fish. Decadent! The place sits on the dock in the inner harbor and searing is pretty much al fresco. Lives up to the hype. I think this was the best fish and chips I've ever had. It's not often you find Halibut and salmon as an option either, which were so delicious. The batter doesn't take over like with most fish and chips and the portion isn't mostly batter either, there's a nice sized piece of perfectly cooked fish in there. There's long lines and for good reason. Based on a tip, I ordered online for pickup. Beware though, they can get busy and will close online ordering, so you still have to plan ahead. The halibut is a lot more expensive than the cod so we had to compare. Honestly, we thought the cod was better. It was a lot softer and more tender in comparison to the halibut so I'd recommend saving your money and going with the cod. I enjoyed the poutine a lot. It was covered in a jerk fish blend that was flavorful and full of spices. Overall, the food was good but I've had better. Located in an unassuming area near the docks, you'll have to walk down some steps near the water to reach the shack where it's located. You might miss it if you aren't looking for it, but there's generally a huge line of people waiting so walk toward that area and you'll find it! The fish was perfectly crispy and flavorful - definitely the star of the show. We also ordered the jerk fish in the poutine and taco forms but would skip next time. I definitely preferred the other fishes as the jerk had a soft, texture that i wasn't fond of. Ultimately, if you're in the area, I'd definitely you come try red fish blue fish.
