We had the crab cake appetizer as well as the ceviche, lobster bisque, and a Caesar salad. All were absolutely fabulous. For our meal we had the Tomahawk for two with sautéed mushrooms, asparagus, twice baked potatoes, and fries. Superb!!! For dessert we had the strawberry cheesecake and creme brûlée which are homemade and so so good. The quality of food, service, and the ambience are all what you'd expect of a fancy steakhouse, but being dressed up not a requirement. Loved it. We had the opportunity to have dinner here tonight for my brother's birthday. My wife and I got there a little bit early and had the opportunity to sit at the bar and enjoy a cocktail. The bartender was very friendly and made great drinks! When we got to dinner, they have fresh warm bread with almond butter and chimichurri sauce that was to die for. All the dinners were great, we had the tomahawk steak for two, and it was excellent. My sides were mashed potatoes and green beans, the mashed potatoes were good, but not great and the green beans were too al dente. The steak, however, was excellent as was everything else. They even brought a free slice of cheesecake for my brother's birthday! The service was a little bit slow, but other than that very good. Made reservations for their soft opening for five but only three of us made it there. We were quickly seated and the host outright told us we needed to give a tip. As we were sitting there, I almost wanted to walk out because of that remark from the host. Lesley was our server, she was very attentive. Lesley wasn't rushing us to place our orders or anything. The first thing that came out was complementary bread with a sweet butter and dipping oil. If I can just have the bread and dipping oil, I would have been just fine with that. It was delicious. My lobster bisque was good and has a kick to it. The ceviche was lacking in flavor but they do have the salt on the table to sprinkle so it was ok. For my entree, I got the Medallion Kawi with two sides which I got the mashed potatoes and paid more for the premium loaded baked potatoes. My steak was so tender and went so well with goat cheese and spinach. The mashed potatoes were a great choice for my side but I can't say that about the loaded baked potato. If you look at it, it was more like a regular baked potato with some chives and cheese. We ended up having leftovers because we ordered three appetizers to try and by the time our entree came, we were full. Overall we all enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back. read more

Wow! Today is our 43rd anniversary. My hubby wanted steak, so we decided to try this new restaurant in Katy for lunch. First they brought out some dinner rolls with the most delicious cinnamon butter and garlic dipping sauce. Amazing! He ordered lobster soup and we got some guacamole chicharrones as appetizers. We both wanted a steak, but by the time we finished the delicious appetizers, we decided to just try a dessert. He got crème brûlée and I got caramel mousse- YUM! We had a wonderful meal with our family at Red Flame tonight. Kids' menu with both typical and more adventurous options for the young ones, plus a fixed price menu option in addition to the full menu. Bread with pecan butter and chimichurri was delicious, service was excellent, and everyone loved their food. Steak was cooked perfectly, vegetables were crisp tender, and the burger was great. Our server heard a single mention of it being someone's birthday and appeared with a lovely piece of tres leches cake at the end of our meal. I'm sad to say that this location is hit or miss. The first two times we came here were amazing and we thought we had found a new date night spot. Each time we have been since has been met with some minor disappointments. But today was the final nail in the coffin. We went for lunch today and the service wasn't great. Our food was taking an abnormally long time and our server was making simple mistakes. My wife's salad was browning from age but not quite spoiled yet- but definitely not fresh either. Eventually the food came out and my wife's fish was completely overcooked and my Korean tenderloin was so tough and overcooked that make steak knife couldn't even cut through it. They took the food back and remade it. This time my steak was still cooked medium well but was tender so I decided to accept it. However, my wife's fish came out completely cold and raw in the middle. Naturally this ruined her appetite so we opted to pay for what we had eaten and we left. read more

I have passed this place on 99 a bunch of times and finally had the chance to bring my wife for a little date night. We are both so glad to have given it a shot. I had the surf and turf special with New York strip and lobster and it was fantastic. She had the filet medallions with goat cheese and spinach and said it was to die for. Our server was Nelson and he was very attentive and pleasant. He had an additional assistant that was quick to fill up low glasses. Overall we were very pleased with our experience and we will certainly be back as soon as we get another chance at a date night. It was very clear our business was not desired that evening, so we left and went to Saltgrass, :/ Spent ~150$ Most places jump at the chance to make an easy $100+ dollars. First off I have to say because we live in the greater Houston area, when we go to a new to us restaurant you get one shot at getting it right. My wife and I both ordered medium rare fillets, we did have a coupon for buy one and get another at 1/2 price. When the steaks came out both steaks were over medium rare, closer to medium. My steak was tender to me but my wife's was not as tender as we usually expect for a fillet. When my wife told the waiter that her fillet was not tender his answer was well it should be. She did not eat but maybe 3 bites. I did try a bite of her steak and I felt my steak was definitely more tender. I also felt hers had a different flavor than my steak did. The waiter came back after she had stopped eating and was just going to take her plate without asking. She stopped him and asked for a box " soon to be treat for the doggo's, it is what we do at any restaurant we do not or cannot finish or food". We ask for the manager after the waiter returned with my card and the receipt. I told the manager we did not want any reduction in our bill, the coupon which had already been applied. My wife told him how disappointed she was as this was her birthday dinner. She told him what our conversations with the waiter were, he apologized and told us that was not the normal policy of handling situations like ours. I told him we did not want anything other than to let him know we would not come back for another try. You get one shot, do it right or do not. On a positive the dining area was nice and the manager was very apologetic. I also had a beer and my wife had a glass of wine. I travel for a living so I eat food from all over country, IMO the quality was not what we were expecting. Sorry I did not take pictures I always forget until I am almost done eating. Because of the service I left a 10% tip, I leave around 20% for good service and 25-30% for better than average service. read more

Took my 3 boys here today. Reserved early and told them we wanted 3 of the Beef Wellington. Arrived earlier. To my surprise they dropped the ball so out of beef Wellington. Ok let's do ribeye's WELL ALSO RAN OUT OF RIBEYES! What kind of self-respecting steakhouse runs out of Ribeyes!? So we had to settle for what they "had". My boys ordered fillets both were charred-burnt. My older and I shared Tomahawk. It was like eating a rubber shoe. Lots of connective tissue hard to even cut with a steak knife. This cut was not prime. Choice at best. It was a struggle to eat it. No SEASONING on any steak. No flavor. No season on any of the sides. Terrible food experience and they change like a Perry's or Flemings minus the quality. Aldi's sells better cuts. We are done with this place! If they don't change management quick and find a new chef I doubt they'll be around one more year. The server was nice. read more

RED FLAME review. Ok - we dined at Red Flame this evening. First time visiting. Atmosphere is very nice. If you want to sit at the bar and have a drink and/or meal, it looks quite nice. We sat in the 'dining room' which still has a view of the TV's in the bar area (which I liked because the Astros were on). Service was excellent. Folks that have allergies to pecans should be aware because the butter they serve with the bread is pecan butter. What we ordered: Ceviche appetizer was outstanding. Wife ordered Salmon which was cooked perfectly. Flavor was ok. Son ordered a filet which wasn't center cut but he still enjoyed it. And I had the Ribeye which was flavorful but quite fatty. Over fatty for a ribeye in my opinion. Will we go back? Yes, food is good, reasonably priced, nice atmosphere and wonderful service! read more
