I came in on a Saturday night at around 10:05- they were relatively full and following Covid guidelines with spacing out some of the tables but it did seem like full capacity to me? Now that I think about it, all the tables and booths were full. They close at 10 and their last call is 9:45 so don't show up at the last minute. Everyone basically cleared out at around 10. We opted for the Original with an extra side of rice ($1 for an additional bowl) We got the third level of spiciness and it was delicious. I felt a strong kick but wasn't too overpowering. I would get the spiciest flavor next time. I did like the ramen noodles in the hot pot and the fishballs. The flame did make our pot boil like crazy but the servers were great with lighting it on and off again. It was my first time here on a weekend around 3pm so it wasn't crowded. I was craving hot pot and decided to give this spot a try since I'd seen it on yelp for a bit now. Food: we ordered the thai and curry hot pots and both were pretty good. We got the thai as the spiciest and the curry as one level lower than the spiciest. The thai didn't have much of a tom yum type of flavor that I was expecting it to be (not sour) and didn't have much flavor besides spiciness but the curry tasted like curry and was really good! The serving sizes were pretty good and I had the leftovers for a couple meals after too (added more ingredients and had rice with it at home) Customer Service: the servers were really nice and provided everything we needed. Overall, I'd recommend the place! Boy, where to start with this review. I can't believe this spot opened up next to another popular location I go to and I never realized it was there until today! I came back from Vietnam and I had wanted to treat out my family since it's been a while. I decided to check out places that sold steak. Ironically, instead of the usual American places known for their meats. This Japanese spot came up on the search and colored me intrigued! I decided to tell my uncle and we came here! From the look of the pictures, the portions had looked rather small. I. Was. So. Wrong. The portions were big! We ordered two hot pots which was more than enough to feed 5 people along with two top sirloin and some noodles dishes too. This place was amazing! First of all, we were able to check in on Yelp before leaving the house. We planned it almost perfectly because we only had to wait a few minutes when we got there. The average wait time would have otherwise been 30-40min. There was plenty of parking along the south side of the restaurant. The restaurant had a fresh modern feel to it. I ordered Ramen and my wife ordered garlic noodles with chicken. We shared a little bit of our entrees and both were just amazing. This place was too good to be true. Hot pot for less than $15. We got the house special hot pot and the garlic noodles with mushroom. The garlic noodles reminded me of the type of food you get at a college dining hall. Don't get this. Look at the salad too.....so sad hahahaha I think it would be better if they didn't serve this on the side, or at least cut it up. After I got the hot pot, I understood why it was so cheap. The ingredients were kinda low quality. I'm not sure why my meat came cooked, you usually cook raw meat for hot pot. I would have been fine with all that, but I didn't like the broth. It had this flavor that reminded me of curry. It just isn't what I look for in my hot pot broth. Service was bad, but I felt bad for them. There were only 2 people covering the entire restaurant. They didn't give me my vermicelli and I had to wait a really long time when I wanted more water. All this being said, if you want hot pot for cheap, this place is a steal at this price point. It's not the best quality, so don't expect it to have the same texture as BP or ZZ Hot Pot. This place still deserves 3 stars despite my past visits. The soup flavoring isn't too bad and it gets the job done. Service can be improved though. I ordered the Japanese miso and when brought out, I noticed there was no udon inside my pot. Thinking they have forgotten, I called the waiter over and he answered in a short manner "we are out of udon" then tries to walk away without even offering a substitute. If you are to advertise ingredients that are expected to be in the pot but run out, at least notify the customer so they don't feel like they're being chipped. I had to ask him if I am able to get something else, that is when he offered the substitute. Worth a long wait? I would say not. Very little lamb with lots cabbage. Most are the old inside pieces of a cabbage. You can see the discoloration around the rim of the pieces from my photos attached. The hotpot was mediocre. Broth was very chicken broth ish. A little on a sweeter side. The one piece of clam inside the hotpot was just frozen clam. There's also green beans from the can. The steak is super sweet. I've never tried food this bad especially from a restaurant so highly rated :( Red Flame reminds me of a downgrade from Tasty Pot or Boiling Point, where they have the same concept (Taiwanese hot pot) but without decent ingredients or soup base. Very bad and not worth the price at all. My party got the sizzling steak, ramen, and hotpot so we can try everything on the menu and everything was subpar. Steak was tough and unseasoned. The soup definitely has a Vietnamese influence and doesn't taste like ramen broth or hot pot broth at all. Very odd. It was very bland / no flavor and the little ingredients they give you was the cherry on top. I had the Japanese miso and it tasted like they just boiled some miso paste with hot water. I think I had 3-4 pieces of meat total and a fat handful of lettuce. SO BAD. We're visiting LA on vacation and know there are better places to eat in the area. I was surprised that Red Flame received such a large amount of reviews from my fellow Yelpers, proving its popularity in the city of Westminster. We usually come here at dinner time. Whenever it's cold outside, it's a good time for some hot-pot or sizzling steak. The quality of their hot-pot is up-to-expectation. Although they sure have some big competitors in town, to me, their soups, protein selections, and veggies are fairly desirable. Sometimes, tho, the meat (beef) I have is overcooked and pretty hard to chew, although being thinly sliced. So for all that, I would give 3 stars for the hot-pot! Sizzling steak, on the other hand, is quite unique and full of flavors. I love how they plate it along with some sauces and 2 sides. But because they put it on a hot stone, remember to ask for ONE LEVEL down the level of your liking, because your piece of meat will be cooked continuously on that hot stone in the plate (so if you prefer MEDIUM, ask for MEDIUM RARE). Or even two levels down, if your camera needs some time to eat first. 4 stars for the sizzling steak!! Prices are on average, and matched with the quality of service that they provide. Saw the great reviews so I ended up wanting to try this place out with my mom and sister. However, if it were up to me I would give no stars. I have very little nice things to say so this is tough. The only thing that was decent was the customer service. The food came out fairly quick and the person who was managing the incoming customers was super friendly and informative. As for the food, the menu offered a variety of options. There was: hot pot options, Ramen options, steak options, and garlic noodles options. They also offered Boba drinks on the menu which I did not try. After reviewing the menu, we ended up choosing hot pots. My mom chose The house special no spicy, I got the Thai version along with my sister. We also ordered a side of udon noodles and a side of beef. When we got the pots, it looked decent. However upon eating the food we were very disappointed. My mothers house special was super salty. The Thai hot pots were okay. My chief complaint is that you can tell the food was already pre-cooked prior to giving it to us. The side of beef was also pre-cooked along with everything in the pots. The Thai hot pot meats were super salty and over cooked. We did not have any Napa cabbage as stated in the menu. All we got was a ton of regular cabbage space (See photo) Overall I feel the food was over price based off of the quality, as well as the service was mediocre.
