My parents live close by so they've gone a few times, but I went for the first time yesterday night (a Tuesday). Ambiance was nice and it was relatively quiet. Service was quick and the food wasn't too bad, definitely very filling. I ordered the bento box which came with soup and salad, a deal which I think has the most value. The sashimi was pretty good, especially the salmon, and the tempura was okay, although the non shrimp ones were a bit soggy. There was a lot of rice though and not really anything to eat it with on the plate so that went virtually untouched. My parents thought that their chicken was overcooked though unfortunately. The beef was fine though. Overall, the food was decent but could be better. My family are essentially regulars so I will probably be eating here again, most likely will get a different bento box.

The food is still head and shoulders above other area restaurants, but recent experiences after a management change have proven disappointing as far as drinks are concerned. Premade drinks have minimal alcohol at full price, so that is less than what one would expect.

    Some type of sashimi thing.

Seems mostly Thai (noodles) and Japanese (ramen), but some Chinese as well, with blurring involved on some of the dishes. Smack Bun: Basically an Asian take on a pulled pork sandwich. Cha-shu pork in a soft bao bun with crunchy vegetables and okonomi sauce very similar to a tangy sweet barbecue sauce. Nice that you can order them individually instead of committing to a set of three or so. Crispy Brussels Sprouts: A small serving with small pieces, lots of batter per piece and fried garlic integrated, but very light and brittle, so not too heavy. Good flavor, aided by the ginger sauce. Just not much sprout here. Crazy Noodle: Very soft flat rice noodles with an assortment of vegetables led by carrot and broccoli, tossed with protein of choice (I went chicken) in a spicy basil sauce that had some light sweetness for balance. Very enjoyable. Promising first visit. Hoping to try more menu items from the different categories to find their strengths.

For my main, I ordered the Khao Gai Yang, a dish with chicken, rice, veggies, and a sauce on the side. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned. My only complaint is that the sauce was quite fishy, which isn't to my personal taste. I would come back but try something else next time.

The woman running the shop brought me the plate of tofu, veggies and kimchi which was all very nice. I especially loved the kimchi and picked green beans. I ordered the "BimBimBop" and a hot ginger tea. The tea was perfectly hot and sweet, I highly recommend even on a warmer day. There was something nice about hearing the chef working in the back, listening to the tv or radio over the sound of boiling water, steaming stovetop and clanking of kitchen tools as well. The food came out hot and fresh with crisp veggies a perfectly fried egg and perfectly cooked rice. The spice was on the side to add to my liking and everything blended together really well. I think this is a secret star of a place and disagree with the comments that the woman here was unkind, I think you can tell by the food itself she cares about quality and taste. I will absolutely be back and if you find yourself in the area I recommend stopping by.

Entering the building is like stepping into a different environment, feeling like a big city eatery with many customers and bustling activity. There's an almost comically large amount of takeout and delivery orders on a large table at the front counter, so they've really taken the area by storm. Once I had a taste of their food, I could see why! We started with the pork pan fried gyoza, one of the best I've had and full of flavor and a good amount of meat. I ordered the seafood chow foon for the entree, which I haven't had before, and wow it was fantastic. Two chunks of lobster tail are in there with sliced scallops, some shrimps, and numerous squid pieces stir-fried with wide flat noodles in a mild egg white sauce. There's also large bok choys on the edges. It was for sure a top of the line birthday dinner, especially if you don't eat red meat and/or can't handle spiciness or sharing with someone with those preferences. I also had the Mongolian beef which tasted wonderful, flavorful, and tender. I also had a bit of the pad thai which had a really nice flavor, savory and kind of smoky. I for sure want to come back, to try some chicken dishes and their sushi as well. The service was great too. Karma is highly recommended and appears to be the main Chinese restaurant of Concord now!

Average. -- Beef Teriyaki: A four-stick serving had bumpy, lightly-charred and lightly sweet surfaces, along with good tenderness underneath. Decent marinade flavor. Above average to well above average. -- Mongolian Beef: An outstanding presentation of beef slivers thick enough to be tender, while also getting nicely crisp and a vigorous flavor superior to the teriyaki. Scallions added some extra kick in addition to the sauce. Really good feel and really good taste bring it really close to elite. -- Pork Fried Rice: Lovers of dark pork fried rice are in for a treat, because this is among the darkest and has dark flavor to match. Fresh, hot, not a reheat, and not sitting for hours. I could do without the peas, but all of the other additions-- egg, onion, bean sprouts, and big chunks of fresh pork-- were top notch. A benchmark rice if you're into this style. Elite. -- Chicken with Ginger and Scallion: Long and winding chicken with good tenderness and noticeable ginger flavor, with bold scallions the unsung hero. Closer to a very good dish than a great dish, but bonus points for being neither sweet nor spicy, but still bringing plenty of flavor. -- Chicken Fried Rice: Another example of bold, dark, fresh-cooked rice, this time with chicken. I was expecting shreds and got finger-length pieces that were much more impressive. Elite. -- Boneless Ribs: Lightly lacquered with shiny cross sections, so they were moist, but a bit fatty. Above average for sure, but not elite or close like some other dishes. -- Chicken Fingers: Fresh, hot, and crisp, with some small ones less dazzling, but most pleased. Good meat-to-batter ratio. Optional sweet and sour sauce add-on did dazzle, coming in sweet but dark ruby color and complex. Not your daddy's sauce; this didn't have pineapples and cherries but it did have more flavor. -- Chicken Teriyaki: Charring, coating, tenderness, juiciness, and marinade all combined to make this one of the better renditions. Well above average to near elite. -- Yuen Yang Beef: Very impressive dish, from the quantity, to the textures (perfect on both the beef and the bed of string beans), to the flavors (savory-tingly on the beef, though without much heat, and gingery on the string beans). -- Duck Sauce: Barely a variation from straight apple sauce. Not a strength. Only negative on service is that sometimes one server handles the entire dining room, so there might be waits, but even still, service is always friendly and efficient. This place sometimes gets a bad rap for being expensive, but I believe the quality warrants the prices and that there's good value thanks to execution and consistency.
