Well, Red Iron at the food court in the Arcadia Mall still keeps it real, though. Sort of. Prices for their stir-fried noodle entrees are still reasonable, and they load your bowl up big time. Not 2004 big time, but in this economy, it's big. This is a large meal and you won't be getting cheated. Proteins are turkey, beef, chicken and pork. I usally stick with the chicken and pork as those cuts are not as tough and chewy like the beef. Not like how it used to be. I remember coming here often. I feel like the portions are alot smaller now. I asked for tofu and they gave me 4 pieces and when i asked if they could give me a little more she just added 2. The one who gave us meat seemed to give us a decent amount though. She seemed nicer. I was really disappointed with my experience at Red Iron Mongolian BBQ. The staff was inattentive and the portions were extremely skimpy compared to what you would expect for the price. They were literally pulling the meat apart into tiny pieces to make the portions look bigger while giving very little actual food. The vegetable portions were also very small, and instead of providing a reasonable amount, they kept pushing customers to pay extra for additional vegetables. This place tries to scam your money. For extra noodles it literally says 3.50 and the lady charges me 4.00 as a side noodle instead. When I pointed to the menu she just ignored me and said that's just how it is. On top of that they put the extra noodles in a small bowl and the guy after who orders extra noodles gets his extra noodles put in a bigger full bowl. What an extremely shady place. read more

My youngest son's fav place to eat. Love the simple menu for ordering purposes. Brought his friend a here for lunch and it was so easy. Good portions and fresh ingredients. Much better than panda. Nice friendly staff with big smiles. Love that service too is included. For growing men his is a good option. Quick and convenient in the food court. I ordered this for dinner through uber eats. The noodles did not have a lot of chicken, they were mostly just noodles with a few vegetables and small amounts of chicken. The flavor was just okay, not the greatest. I did need to add more soy sauce for more flavor. I don't think the price is worth it because of the amount of protein you get. The food did come very fast, probably in about 30 minutes. I cannot comment about the ambiance since I ordered online. read more

Decided to venture out and try out other places in the food court since we always stick to the same ones. However, the food at Red Iron has been disappointing...You order at the counter and choose your meat and veggies, which will be taken to the grill (noodles will be added). First off, the meat (beef in this case) looks like it was frozen and then defrosted (and it's in slices) all and all to say don't think it's quality meat at all but given the price point, it is somewhat expected. On to the rest of the dish, it just doesn't taste that great...not to say it's not flavorful but the flavor is really not appetizing. Pleasantly surprised! I usually avoid mall Mongolian and I hated trying to cram whatever I could into a single dish, so the new format where they fill the bowls for you was a game changer. Not quite the same as the AYCE places where you can serve yourself and customize, but in a pinch, this Red Iron hit the spot. Service was really great. Served up whatever I asked for and kept asking if I wanted more. I also mentioned that I didn't want noodles and would love extra veggies, which they accommodated with a full extra bowl in place of the bowl of noodles. Flavor wise, it was just ok. Would have loved adding my own sauces, but it was as much me not being familiar with the flavors, so not solely on Red Iron here. Quality wise, the beef was a bit chewy, but pork was good. Overall, I would definitely return when at the mall and craving Mongolian. Especially for the service and how they accommodated our orders. I honestly love this place. Yes, it's mall food court food but I feel like I get a good amount of food for the price I pay and I actually enjoy the food too. They truly fill up your bowl with all of your toppings and have never said no to my request for a little more of something. The employees are always quick with their service and nice along the way and it's nice to have something that feels a little fresher than typical mall food. Red Iron has always been my secret food spot located in the Arcadia Mall. It's a Mongolian style barbecued plate, with option to choose between beef, pork, turkey meats etc. I've noticed that the price has steadily increased, from its original $9 to 11 to now the $14 ranges pre tax With tax you'll be expecting to pay about $16 per plate. Extra noodles, rice and soup are allowed, but paying for extra meat isn't. Red Iron used to thrive through its AYCE style precocial, but I understand their changes post-COVID, and how they're trying to cut costs by having the employees portion out the sizes for you. My recommendation is to choose beef and pork, with a side of broccoli, celery, tofu, and mushrooms. My ALWAYS ALWAYS sauces include adding garlic and soy sauce, to really enhance the flavor of the noodles and the meat. What I also enjoy is the ability to watch your food being cooked in front of you! Overall, it's started to decrease in portion sizing over the years. My husband ordered a mongolian bbq bowl. With COVID-19 still at large, the business had pivoted to the way they make their bbq noodles. For example, when ordering noodles and all the fixings, you can no longer fill the bowl yourself, the staff does it for you. I remember back in the day, I used to stuff by bowls and squeeze as much meat down as I could to maximize how much I spent on these noodles. This restaurant is located in the food court at the Santa Anita mall. It used to be under a different name. I haven't had Mongolian bbq in awhile but I feel it doesn't taste as good. First you pay. You choose either entree or the works (includes soup and drink) then you get the food prepared. First, some changes. Due to COVID safety instead of getting the meats and veggies yourself the staff fill your bowl for you. The food is blocked off from the outside so that's good, less people touching/breathing on the food. So they get your meats, vegetables and sauces. They then take your bowl along with a bowl of noodles to the cook. You are able to see the cook prepare your friend. He cooks multiple customers' food at the same time. Everything was going well until I see he was pretty done with mine and used the chef chopsticks to flip the other customer's raw food before using those same chopsticks to transfer into my takeout box. I cane hoke and reheates the food just in case. Taste-wise it was pretty bland. I suppose healthier for you....?? The staff was pretty friendly so I'll give them more than 1 star. read more
