Great spot with great coffee. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Really nice vibe inside, and the service was excellent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seemed like a great place to study![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is cozy and cute, with an industrial vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our barista was patient and helpful, guiding us through the drink menu. She was even nice enough to customize our drinks to make them less sweet. I usually avoid spicy drinks but the barista recommended the spicy mocha and she was spot on. It was delicious with just a tiny amount of heat. We also ordered the high five, which was equally good. I would definitely come back for the spicy mocha.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Adorable coffee shop in an industrial space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The vanilla latte was smooth and complex. You really got the vanilla bean notes. Also got the pumpkin spice latte and unlike so many, the pumpkin was front and center. Not too sweet. Just perfection in a cup.

This has become my new MUST stop for coffee when I go to the island! This place is for people that take coffee serious and love the flavor of coffee. I got the Hive Five iced (twice) and could taste the coffee forward flavor and hints of sweetness in the background. The color and composition of this drink exceeded my expectations. We also tried the double shot with brown sugar cold foam and like this one as well. The shots of espresso were lovely but the cup was 75% cold foam, tasty cold foam but a lot of it. I will try it as a latte with cold foam next time to see if it's a better balance. Barista up front was kind and helpful, able to guide my decision as a first timer! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating was comfy and spacious options, a couch, a bar, tables, and outdoor seating![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place to study or have a conversation with a small group.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely recommend and can't wait to come back!

If you want the SparkNotes version of this review: my girlfriend and I were originally going to try two separate coffee shops in Galveston over our two mornings in town, but Red Light was so impressive that we went back instead. When I was in school in Lubbock, Monomyth was my beacon of what S-tier coffee should be. It has gotten to a point where every time my long-distance girlfriend visits me, I pay for her to bring coffee beans to me. When I visit her, I make sure I go to Monomyth every day of my trip. I say all of this to share that one of our mutual friends (more her friend than mine, but whatever) is from the Houston area and considers Red Light Coffee Roasters in Galveston her Monomyth. Every time she has the chance to go, she will. Her being someone who loves Monomyth even more than us, that is a serious recommendation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Just off the Strand, Red Light is in a perfect location, easily walkable from downtown Galveston.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Though the coffee shop is clearly renovated and modernized with its sleek wood and tile walls, beautiful lighting fixtures, and decor, the ceiling tells the story of it being in a well-loved building.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered a hot Lavender Breeze: lavender, honey, oat milk, and espresso. A standard affair for me. My girlfriend opted for something more interesting, their Spicy Mocha: mocha, espresso, cayenne, chile powder, cinnamon, and milk. We ordered a chocolate croissant that looked so good I immediately ordered one for myself after they plated it. I have been running a notes app on my phone power-ranking every coffee shop I've been to. There are only four coffee shops that sit with a 9 or higher. Red Light is one of those four. I think the science of coffee drinks being espresso-forward without letting the creaminess of the milk and the flavor of the syrups overpower is important in creating a quality latte, and Red Light Coffee Roasters does it as well as some of the heavy hitters that have been mainstays on my list for years. As for the Spicy Mocha, it's not a drink I would order myself, but it's a drink I was impressed with. The kick doesn't immediately come after you, but it builds in your throat after you swallow. Interesting. As for the croissant, it was fantastic. Pinnacle of pastry making. The coffee was so good, we found ourselves back at Red Light the next morning as I ordered the same thing. I've been to other coffee shops in Galveston and enjoyed them, but they mean nothing to me anymore in comparison to Red Light. I am loyal to you.

Double shot espresso with house blend
Alejandro R.

Top tier specialty coffee conveniently located near the Strand. Beans are roasted in house, and the results are fantastic! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Vibe: Building feels historic and there's a decent amount of seating, outlets, and good wifi.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service by Branch, the roaster and barista, was great and we had a good conversation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seems like a popular place with tourists, students, and locals alike passing through.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Free sreet parking is available, and there's an outside with a few tables too. I ordered a double shot of espresso with the house blend and was very impressed. Smooth velvety texture and a nice balance of mild fruity acidity and mellow chocolate, with nearly no bitterness. A perfect house blend. I will definitely be back when I'm in town.

Pumpkin spice latte

Stopped in for an afternoon pick-me-up and I had to get their pumpkin spice latte (tis the season!). It didn't disappoint, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]their spacious AC'ed interior helped me beat that 2 pm heat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I bought a bag of their medium roast Ethiopian beans on my way out and it has made wonderful pourover the past few weeks.

I stopped by here yesterday morning with my family for our morning coffee. Whenever we go on vacation, we try to hit up a new coffee shop every morning, and on this morning we ended up heading over to Red Light Coffee Roasters. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This shop has both indoor and outdoor seating, with their coffee roaster proudly displayed at the back of the store.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For coffee on this morning, I went with the Spicy Maple while my wife went with an iced Strawberry Cheesecake Latte. While we waited for our drinks to be made, my twins went outside and played with the two hammocks. Once we had our drinks, I have to admit that I enjoyed mine. The coffee was very present, and you could tell that it was freshly roasted, which I loved. There was some sweetness from the promised maple, although I would have been hard pressed to tell you what it came from, and unfortunately, I didn't get any flavor of spicy from it. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed my drink, and my wife enjoyed hers as well. The bottom line from me is that I would head back here again in the future. Even though my latte missed on the promised flavors, I really did enjoy the fresh coffee and milk.

What a great place to get coffee, juices, smoothies. The employee working the morning I went was very nice and patient. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was very quiet inside, a lot of people were studying and working.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Decided to sit outside to enjoy some fresh air. I think there are three tables outside, which is very convenient.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking is also found on the side street and I didn't have a problem finding a spot.

Front of the store

This was my second favorite coffee shop while I was in Galveston but a very close 2nd to MOD coffeehouse. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great service, great atmosphere and great coffee[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Came here for a morning pick-me-up while spending the weekend in Galveston - what a lovely coffee shop! Not much more I could ask for: - Cute, spacious interior with a nice mix of tables, hightops, and a couch - Friendly people behind the counter who gave us tips on our time on the island - Plentiful street parking - My latte was delicious, and was the perfect start to the day Seems like lots of "locals" here - and by that I mean lots of medical/healthcare students seemed tonbe studying or working there when we dropped by. Definitely will be back whenever I am back in Galveston!

Update April 2025: Red light rewards program now requires 13 instead of 10 purchases to redeem a free drink. The menu has been updated and prices have also increased. I ordered a drink from the seasonal menu expecting to redeem my reward and was only told after that I didn't qualify anymore - currently prices are ~$6.50 without modifications.

The coffee shop feels like a beach house that was turned into a cafe (at least downstairs) and I absolutely loved the vibe!!! There's garden area with plenty of seating, and if you head toward the back you can even take the stairs up to a second floor seating area in the back house. The vibey was so cozy and beachy!! I had heard they take their matcha seriously so I ordered the strawberry matcha. It was amazing and definitely lived up to the hype. We got there around 10 am and it was pretty quiet, but after about 30-40 minutes people started steadily coming in and it got surprisingly busy. I loved loved loved this place and will definitely be back :)

I did request for their Matcha latte with 2 shots of espresso since I was suffering from a caffeine headache-3 days of little to no caffeine lol thats on me. Its authentic in presentation and nondescript in terms of, if you're looking fir a Starbucks ambiance, this is not it. If want truer to Galveston and raw, come sit a while.

I am almost a daily regular here. I didn't quite like it at first and avoided it for a while, but…read moreit has grown on me. Ha! The coffee is a bit different, but it's easy to find something you like. I usually get the Deep State Cold Brew. the shaken espresso is pretty good too. I will buy a bag of beans periodically. I would hope that they are fair trade, which is not clear, but some of their beans are organic, and they brew up tasty at home. The atmosphere is nice. The counter staff are friendly and seem to know what they are doing. Usually good spots available to sit and get a bit of work done, unless it's one of the rare days where the place is totally full. Good scenerey usually. it's a mix of NASA people, university students and other odds and ends from the community. They play crappy music, but not too loud, so easy to tune out. The thing that needs the most improvement are the baked goods. Absolutely terrible. At first I thought they had Costco muffins or something similar, but in truth, Costco muffins would be a BIG improvement. Their baked goods suck. LOL! But that's not going to keep me from coming here. Definitely an all around good coffee shop.

I opted for the Half Winter Moon since it was their "most popular" drink, sweetness level wise, to use as a standard. The Half Moon was nicely sweetened without overpowering the coffee itself. I would probably prefer the 1/4 Moon for a stronger coffee flavor next time. Summer moon was pretty bustling for a Saturday morning but the coffee came out fairly quickly.

When I stopped by on a weekday evening at 9pm it was packed. They had stations setup throughout the store to order different goods, which helped to alleviate the rush. Knafeh ($6) - They offered 2 types of knafeh, one with cheese and one with custard. I went with the one made with Nabulsi cheese and topped with shredded phyllo, and soaked in sugar syrup. It was warm, crispy and delicious! Karak tea ($5) - This milk tea drink was made with aromatic spices, primarily cardamom, cloves, ginger and cloves. I was happy to see they used whole milk instead of evaporated milk. The drink was incredibly rich and creamy and tasted great. Turkish delight ($18 / lb.) - This was extremely fresh, soft and chewy, made with cornstarch, sugar, nuts. Some of the varieties I tried had chocolate and/or fruits. The baklava here was fresh made with layers of phyllo dough, chopped nuts, and held together with some honey. The nut offerings here included, almonds, walnuts, peanuts and a few more. Overall I was impressed with everything they offered here with the exception of the nuts, which I thought were just ok. I'd definitely return if I was in the area.

The desserts here are fun, unique, and very different from what you find at most places. My only…read morecomplaint is the lack of labeling for many of the products. For example, with the Turkish delights and ice cream selections, only a few items are labeled. For most of them, you have to guess the flavor or ingredients. When I asked questions, there was a language barrier, and the staff member behind the counter was unable to clearly explain what the items were in English. This can be especially frustrating for customers with food allergies or dietary restrictions. In the U.S., I would expect all flavors and ingredients to be clearly labeled so customers can make informed choices. Even if staff members are not fluent in English, having accurate labels for flavors and ingredients would greatly improve the customer experience. The desserts themselves are excellent, but better product labeling would make the experience much more enjoyable and accessible for everyone.
