    Karla D.

For about eleven years I've had a running joke with the boyfriend that I'd take him to Red Lobster for his birthday since he loves seafood. I do not love it. At all. Plus it's like going to Olive Garden instead of eating in my Nana's kitchen. Anyway, we did Santa Day a little different this year and decided to get the joke out of the way. We had reservations for 8 p.m. and by then they were busy but more on the slowing down side. Our server had three tables when we arrived and was down to two within minutes of our arrival. I ordered a mocktail and never got it. Luckily I wasn't charged for it. We also asked for water. We didn't get it until we asked again when my side salad was brought out. Cutting slack because it was a holiday and even though a manageable crowd, I can only assume the entire day was quite the opposite. Also, our server was a total sweetheart. My salad was fresh. The cheddar biscuits were addictive but I controlled myself and only ate half of one. I won't tell you how many the boyfriend had. I will tell you two baskets were delivered to us. He said his crab carbonara was ok. Nothing special. The portion was huge. I swear it was an entire box of spaghetti. He'll be eating it for days. I had sirloin and a baked potato. I ate half the potato and a couple of bites of the steak. I asked for medium-well but it was absolutely well-done. It hurt my teeth to try and eat it. I didn't want to complain because again, holiday. I brought the leftovers home--between the boyfriend and dog they won't go to waste. A three-star rating for a three-star experience.

The real standout this evening was my server Diana. She knows the menu inside and out and her service was kind and attentive. She made the whole experience better. The food was very good as well. I had shrimp and crab and everything was cooked perfectly and priced reasonably. I'll definitely be asking for Diana next time.

My husband promised to take our kids after sharing a nostalgic story about taking a girl to Red Lobster on his first date. We were seated almost immediately on a Sunday afternoon, which was surprising because usually restaurants are busy during this time. My husband ordered the New Orleans style salmon while I had the shrimp feast with shrimp scampi, Walt's, famous shrimp, and shrimp Alfredo. My children ordered the popcorn shrimp and the chicken tenders and they all enjoyed their meals. The one thing that I was disappointed in was that the salads were no longer complementary as I recalled from when I came years ago. However, what made this visit special was the hostess at the front. I wish I could remember her name, but she took the lobsters out of the tank and showed my children and allowed my kids to pet them. She even gave a quick lesson on how they typically live in the sea and how you have to burp them after taking them out from the water. The restaurant is a bit dark, the booth seats felt a bit sticky and I feel that it could be updated and that is the only reason why I've taken off a few stars, but the staff was great and the service was good.

So I just called Red Lobster a dumpster fire in my last review of another seafood restaurant. On a corporate level yes; this IS my Red Lobster in South Austin. Last review 2009 and truthfully I don't dine here too often as I don't work in town. Another update, Sheryl who mentioned way back when is still there. 42 years at this location! The reason for this visit was two fold. Support the folks that have taken care of me for all these years. Second, Rooster loves fish and chips and wanted to make sure he had a cheddar biscuit fix before summer. The day before Rooster and I spent half the afternoon looking for his retainer in his room. We didn't find it, but I did find two leftover Vanilla gift card he had forgotten about. We had $155 combined to use so why not splurge. GF, son, mom and myself met for lunch. Sure enough Sheryl greeted us and led us to our table. No appetizers consumed because biscuits! Our server was amazing; drinks refilled promptly. All necessary tools provided for the feast to crack those crab legs! Rooster got his Fish and Chip fix; GF had a bowl of chowder and calamari. I settled in for the Ultimate Feast. I do like that it's customizable these days as I usually don't want the fried shrimp. For today I chose the snow crab legs, Maine lobster tail, and double shrimp scampi. Not gonna talk sides except the rock lobster tail I added. Every seafood item cooked gloriously. Scampi was garlic butter excellence; snow crab legs cracked with ease. Maine lobster tail versus the rock tail provided different nuances in flavor. With gift cards used we owed $6. Add in tip and we dined in extravagance for $46. Support your local RL!

We've given this place plenty of chances over the years and I'd really hoped for things to improve this time. Picked up a large order for my father's birthday dinner and not only did they leave out the fish and chips (ordered and paid for an hour in advance + extra fifteen minute wait, forced to refund after they refused to deliver), the cheddar bay biscuits were cold and the lobster in the seafood boil looked more like a mystery nugget picked off of the kitchen floor. Never again.

The bartender Bianca was absolutely amazing. Let me know about happy hour drinks, suggested the crab carbanara and it was sooo good! Only bad thing: the bar tile was making my feet slip. Definitely coming back to see Bianca! What an amazing Christmas experience!

Terrible!BEWARE!!!! Found a roach in my food. This is so gross and unsanitary. I ate some of the pasta where the same spot i noticed that theres little dead roach in it. This is beyond unacceptable! This is a big health risk! I am so upset. G

Red lobster used to be a lovely place to go for seafood without the high prices of seafood, of course the quality was never supposed to be as good either but you get what you pay for. There prices have sky rocketed for worse quality of food. Be pared if you order any pasta to dig the shrimp out and remove the tails yourself. I asked our very nice waitress about the tails on the shrimp and she said that's just how they serve shrimp pastas now. The endless shrimp is only cool if you plan to stay hours and come alone because the rest of your party will be done with their food before your second portion ever arrives. It seems they wait you out so your food settles therefore not full anymore. Never going to any red lobster ever again and that's sad because my family & I used to love it.

First, I appreciate the sign notifying customer that they were short staffed today. I hope others were patient with the employees. Second, I wish previous reviewers would understand restaurants and businesses are struggling right now with covid. I can see why they have had to close early, etc. Considering they were short staffed the wait wasn't as long as quoted. We were on a 30 minute wait but had a table in 20 minutes. The food was decent as any other Red Lobster and portions were large. The salad was fresh and everything came out pretty quickly. Our waitress was friendly and kept an appropriate distance when waiting on us. It seams the staff worked well as a team. I noticed the hostess helping bussing tables as well as seat people.

It is on the pricier side compared to other Vietnamese restaurants so it is not something we get too often. Hainan Chicken ($25): Really good and feels like a healthier option. Make sure you use all of the sauce though because that is where the flavor is. It also comes with a broth that is so good we just drank it straight. Honestly better than the pho broth. Chicken Pho with Beef Broth ($23): The shredded chicken was overcooked and the broth was just alright. The portion was generous though.

I had no idea it was even here and I LOVE PHO. I've been under the weather with horrible allergies and I was craving a great bowl of Pho Soup, so I finally Googled "Pho in Westlake, and Lee's came up. So I called up, ordered and drove over. The ambiance is super cute and clean. THIS SOUP BLEW MY MIND!!! This soup blew anything out of the water that I have tasted in Vietnam. Healthy and hardy portion. We started off with the spring rolls. These were the freshest Spring rolls I have ever tasted, and the sauce was incredible. Then we moved onto the 1 Beef Pho and 1 Vegetable Pho that we ordered. I put some beef in the Vegetable Pho, and it tasted phenomenal. As well, I wanted to add that I don't even like tofu, but the tofu that was in the soup was so fresh and spongy. Nothing like you've ever tasted, in a fabulous, unexpected but tasty way. THE BEEF BROTH WAS AMAZING!!! EVERYTHING I WANTED AND MORE!!! MY NEW GO TO PHO PLACE!!! Shout out to Brittany and your take out crew/staff........for being Extremely hospitable and inviting. ONLY SUGGESTION-I've been in marketing & sales, the restaurant industry, and the hospitality industry for over 32 YEARS. Now I'm in Corporate Real Estate. I've travelled the whole world and what I am telling you is that YOU HAVE THE BEST PHO SOUP I'VE EVER TASTED.......AND I HAD NO IDEA YOU WERE EVEN THERE!!! (and I've been in Westlake for 10 years, and I drive into that parking lot, minimally 3 times a day, for one reason or another). Why is this? How come I didn't know you were there?......Besides the fact that I never googled "Pho Westlake". I'll tell you why......from my experience and expertise, it because of your signage and name. With the name "Lee's Kitchen and Cocktails", I thought you were just another Chinese restaurant, and were loyalists to Chinatown Westlake. Which leads me back to how can we fix this, and generate you more business?! I'll tell you how you do it....I like your name, but I would have your signage company make a BIG black and white, LARGE sign in Italic, that says "PHO". Then have a bowl of soup with chopsticks coming out of it. But minimally a LARGE "PHO" in writing. I'd place it to the right of LEE'S Kitchen and Cocktails. That way every one will know what you serve, when they look at your name. Then I would go on all your social media platforms and ADD "PHO" to your name. Either LEE'S PHO-Kitchen + Cocktails, or something to that effect. LEE'S Kitchen + Cocktails-PHO. Had I seen this on the wall for the last 10 years, 3 times a day, I WOULD HAVE STOPPED, COME IN, AND BEEN YOUR CUSTOMER FOR THE LAST 2 PLUS YEARS. Please take my suggestion to heart and I can't wait to see your business thrive, even more than it already is. With love, Joanne and family

With a point system to accrue benefits over time, and at each visit, and impressive happy hour specials for both food and drinks, it's hard not to visit more than once. While we didn't indulge in the beverages, we enjoyed the $10 burger special which also came with fries! We paired this with a side of a $6 Caesar Salad (really tasty and thrown together with thinly sliced cabbage, roasted chickpeas, and popcorn chicken). Next time, I'd really love to try the truffle mac and cheese (which was also on HH). We weren't aware of the upcharge for swapping out the slice of American for Cheddar (+$1.50), which would've been nice to know ahead of time, since we both got burgers and wondered about the swap...but lesson learned. Also, BIG lesson learned...the parking validation is for only two hours! We were having such a lovely time at Dish Society, but exceeded the 2 hrs (by an extra hour) and got charged a significant amount for parking. Next time, we will certainly park on the street. We tried reasoning with the parking attendant and they wanted no business in understanding we were patrons of the restaurant. It was certainly an unexpected shock, and didn't leave the best final touch of our evening (specifically in that parking garage). It's unfortunate that we got penalized for enjoying our time at dinner.

The service is A1, I sat at the bar and was very impressed with the team's chemistry back there (especially while training someone new, they were spot on). The drinks were wonderful as well, very refreshing and lots of flavor. I enjoyed a yuzu & lavender sour & a grapefruit margarita and was impressed with how flavor forward the drinks were while still having a great boozy after effect. Also, I know traditionally oysters aren't usually a thing that you enjoy during the months that don't have an R in them, but I have to say salt traders definitely defied that "rule". Hands down some of my favorite oysters I have EVER had; I enjoyed the Va Va Vooms from Maryland and the Demariscotta Oysters from Maine and still haven't been able to stop thinking about them (it's been about a week or so now & I'm already planning to go back)! I also enjoyed the torched scallop nigiri, the daily crudo, and the salmon plate (that Dijon bbq sauce was craaaazy good, I'll have to order an extra serving of the sauce on the side next time I enjoyed it so much). Lastly, this place has an amazing happy hour, which I noticed fills up fast. Highly recommend going to Salt Trader's if you haven't yet. Loro is an Asian smokehouse and bar featuring grilled and smoked meats with Southeast Asian and Japanese-inspired sauces, sides, and a bar that boasts craft beer, boozy slushees, and batch cocktails. Parking at this location is a bit of a challenge. They have overflow parking in the back but the spots are really small. We sat at the bar area and worked our way through cocktails, apps, and dessert. We opened a tab and the bar staff takes your order which is convenient, versus how you normally have to order by waiting in line at the bar. The bar staff was extremely busy because they have to make all the cocktails and take the line orders at the bar. They are a master of multitasking. It was $3 martini night on Tuesday, so was excited to sample the four different drink options. lychee martini, Mexican martini, and Lucky Cat cosmo martini. Lychee martini is made with new amsterdam vodka, sake, elderflower, Mexican martini with espolon blanco, olive, yuzu, lime and cosmo with vodka, blood orange, naranja, lime. The lychee was hands down my favorite of the three. We started with the Dip Sampler that included a trifecta of smoked shishito queso, smoked salmon dip and Thai green salsa with the Siete blue corn tortilla chips. We went through the chips quickly and got a second round of wonton chips which I preferred to the Siete chips. Tried the Mango Chamoy frozen Slushee with Siete Chamoy Botana Sauce & Siete Chile Lime Seasoning Rim, passionfruit, Aperol, Sake and Sparkling Wine which was refreshing. All their boozy slushies are $5 during happy hour. They normally served this with Bavette, but the steak was a bit tough and chewy this time. Finished everything off with cheesecake with five spice crumble, yuzu marmalade for dessert. The vibe at the bar was relaxed and lively without feeling overwhelming, and the collab menu felt creative without trying too hard. The ingredients are very thoughtful for a fully developed flavor profile. Just what I would expect from the culinary minds of Tyson Cole and Aaron Franklin. I was really craving a great salad, so I decided to go in. At first you walk up and order, and then the clerk at the front, like all other places turns the screen around and says "One last question", and then stares at you, while you read their 3 tipping options. So you're standing there, guilted into tipping, by an individual that only pressed a couple of buttons, only to have the kitchen get your order wrong. At an establishment like this, it would be nice if you could tip at the end, after the whole experience, instead of out of obligation at the beginning, because you have an individual begging for it. Anyways. So after I ordered I waited, only to get a $20 salad that had 4 small pieces of chicken and with the Miso dressing which I didn't order. I ordered the Lemon Avocado Vinaigrette which came with no snap peas, when I ordered extra. Then when I finally was able to flag someone down and tell them what had happened, she said "Ok" and went back and got a bowl of snap peas. No "I'm sorry" or "Let us remake it" I wouldn't have had them remake it because I hate wasting food.....but what I hate more is feeling like crap, undervalued and unappreciated. Where was the customer service? If you want a great salad, go here......but don't expect to get what you ordered, after you've been strong armed into tipping, and when you bring it up, expect an eye roll like you're inconveniencing them. I think I'll be taking all my Rollingwood women's group friends, to the new spot for a try......Sweet Green in the HEB parking lot.....or I'll go into HEB and buy a whole rotisserie chicken for $6 and a bag of salad for another $4 and go enjoy two salads at home. For such a casual place, y'all sure act uppity, entitled and as if, you're serving Grey Poupn on top of a Grade A slab of Prime Rib.
