Red lobster is delicious. Sorry, not sorry. The biscuits are insane, I could eat like 47 of them. The bar menu is expansive and well priced, (a Tanqueray martini is like $6, which is a steal). The seafood is fresh and prepared well, if not sometimes a little salty. The service is always really good! Now keep in mind, I am in no way comparing this to the best seafood restaurants in Austin, just saying we have had some pretty delicious dinners here. We came for Lobsterfest and my plate was so yummy! I got the dueling lobster tails, which was two petite split tails stuffed with delicious seafood stuffing and broiled. It also had a split rock lobster tail filled with lobster Mac and cheese and side of green beans with sundried tomatoes. Plus a side Cesar salad! When people rate chain restaurants lowly because of food consistency I can't help but wonder what they expect. "Oh, these Cheddar Bay Biscuits taste just like the ones at the other Red Lobster? And you didn't like those either? Wow, how surprising..." Chain restaurants are not for everyone, and that's totally okay. But this is a decent Red Lobster with okay food at okay prices. Our server was sweet, although I'm a little bummed she didn't bring us the promised bag for our leftovers. Red Lobster is NOT on my favorite's list, however they have the BEST coconut shrimp. I would give this dish alone 5 stars. I have never found better. They use jumbo butterflied shrimp, crisped perfectly and served with a delicious Pina Colada Sauce. YUMMY! My hubby made the mistake of veering from this order and got the fish and chips. Yuck! He was not pleased. The cheddar biscuits are also yummy. I once got suckered into ordering the all you can eat shrimp trio from a TV commercial. The shrimp were so tiny and I was disappointed, though I remember the fettuccine being good. Now I just stick to coconut shrimp. Nothing else. I've been to plenty of Red Lobsters - it was a family favorite when I would visit in Minneapolis. Visiting this location was a mixed bag. The food was very good, although my bro's burger didn't look that appetizing and he didn't even finish it. My steak and crab was way over priced - they tack on an extra $2 plus for each of those items if you order them from the lunch menu. Why they have to do that is beyond me. And now for the service. I have to say that the server was great - however, as a woman, I am sick and tired of being seated at the crappy interior tables - particularly the ones near the kitchen. Really? I am not talking about busy times. I traditionally go to late lunches to avoid crowds. So most of the restaurants I go to are practically empty. Therefore, I expect to get a decent seat by a window or in a booth. But not today! No - there were tons of window seats empty and yet, the host chose to escort me to a table right by the friggin' kitchen. Yea, I love being right in the midst of all that kitchen clatter. I'm better off eating at home in that case. Turns out, I was waiting for my bro who was parking the car. I had already told the host that I'd rather sit elsewhere. Her attitude sure changed when my bro arrived. I rest my case. As an experiment in many restaurants, I watch to see where the host seats parties that have men in them. Very different. They seem to get the best service all the time. I am really tired of having to beg for a decent table in restaurants, while men get seated at the choice spots -- guess that penis is worth a lot! I should try dressing like a man sometime to see if it is different. I sure bet it would be. In fact, this would be an excellent investigative story for a news team. Kind of like how woman are overcharged for most services - like car maintenance. I really don't give a crap about how they divvy up their service areas. They close off sections needlessly and make customers who are paying good money sit in lousy areas that take away from the dining experience. Their first priority should be the comfort of their customers -- not the convenience of their staff. Also - they really need to redo their lunch menu. If you want a decent seafood meal you have to pay dinner prices and that isn't right. Get with the program and offer smaller portions of what people come there for. I don't go to Red Lobster to eat a carb filled meal with a smattering of shrimp sprinkled in it. Lunch time prices should reflect lunch -- period. Yumm yum yummm! I came here with my boyfriend and mom as this restaurant is near and dear to us for years. We weren't disappointed! I ALWAYS get the shrimp linguini and it was perfectly cooked, creamy and steamy with juicy little shrimp. My boyfriend and mom both got seafood platters and no complaints. Clearly a seafood chain restaurant isn't for some "foodies"...so don't come if you already have a predisposition as to what they 'should' or 'could' be like...byyye! read more

My family and I went to this location last night around 6:45-7:00 , we were greeted promptly by the manager and hosts and were seated immediately. Brian came and greeted us at our table probably 10-15 seconds after we sat down. He was very friendly and professional. We had the lobster artichoke as our appetizer and it was great! Then we ordered my sons Mac and cheese with broccoli so we could have him eat first and be occupied while we waited for our main course to come out. The caesar salad and lobster bisque was fantastic. Brian was on top of my fiancé drinks which is impeccable! He slurps down drinks faster than anyone I know. It was only a Coke lol. We got our main course which my fiancé ordered the pasta harbor that came with linguini noodles lobster and clams I think? And then I had the NY sirloin with Lobster, and upgraded to lobster mashed potatoes and broccoli. And everything was great! As a waitress, myself the service was fantastic. It's really hard for me to go out and have a fantastic meal and the server be on top of it. I'm usually always nit pitting everything but this time it was absolutely perfect. I was dragged here by a date. She went on and on about how good their Maui Luau Shrimp and Salmon dish was. I was craving a well-done burger with some bread and butter pickles and Heinz ketchup, so when she made me pass by the Applebee's on 290 and Mopac, my throat let out a groan deeper and darker than the rumble that was brewing in my stomach. "Really?," I said. "Red Lobster? Please. I've got a craving for red meat, old Hollywood photographs, and fake street signs." But alas, she insisted, and like a gentlemen I let her choose where to charge my credit card (my bank gives me rewards!). Little did i know that I would be in for a surprise! I had no idea that Red Lobster flame-broiled all their seafood! This is by far the best way to defrost any kind of meat! The ice melts right off, freezer-burn and all! We decided to get two entrees and split them amongst ourselves. She, of course, chose her favorite: the Maui Luau Shrimp and Salmon dish; I just couldn't resist the Parrot Isle Jumbo Coconut Shrimp. It was delicious! The shrimp were small, but delicious, and the coconut was huge! Every bite I took made me feel closer and closer to the sea. I think Red Lobster is good but not real good. Servers are usually really nice when I go and the food is not bad but not worth what they are charging now. I go to Eddie V's now and pay the extra where I get double service and much higher end food. True it can, at times, be double in price but I go for the entire package. I will still go to Red Lobster when they have some really good special going but I like jumbo shrimp, sea scallops, and lobster and I can't usually get the first two without really overpaying. It's a family tradition kind of place for us to go so they won't ever lose our business totally but it could get us back more with some fine tuning. Their new marketing campaign did get us going back and some new menu items have been nice but need more large gulf shrimp, I mean LARGE, and sea scallop options, regular size potatoes vs the tiny ones they started using you would see me back. But if I am at 30-35 per person for drink, app, meal, tip then I usually pay more and head downtown to Eddie V's. Last I just wish they would get rid of those ugly blue plates. LOL Perfect for popcorn shrimp but not for colossal or jumbo shrimp. FYI Better for kids here though so I take that into consideration as well. My daughter likes both. read more

Y'know, I'm sure there are better places to get seafood. I'm pretty sure we cook better fish at home. But when I'm craving some crab legs and butter or some fried shrimp, this is not a bad place to come and get your grub on. I wanted to like Joe's Crab Shack more, but everything I've had there I just wished I would have gotten at Red Lobster. I think the biscuits are a little overrated, but they're good. Their salad dressings are HORRIBLE - get the caesar. The rest taste like old bottles of store brand dressing. Everything I've gotten seafood wise has been delicious though, my favorite big-huge meal is the ultimate feast, but I usually get something less imposing. The service here was pretty ok - the waitress was friendly but a little forgetful (I was without the crab cracker thingee for a while and our salad plates stayed there through the whole meal), but it was pretty close to closing. So if you're looking for some seafood and want something between Trulucks and Long John Silvers, this is the place! read more

I'll never forget this.. many years ago, while I was cashing out at a casino in Tulsa, a guy came up to the window with a winning ticket, and proudly proclaimed, "We're goin' to Red Lobster!!" Anyhoo.. So, maybe at one point RL was kind of a fancy place, you went there Sunday after church, and other 'special' occasions. Maybe my expectations have changed over the years, but life is too short for so so food, and that's all RL is, so so. Yes, you will still catch me in this location from time to time, when I feel the need.. the need to feed on crablegs.. but, I can't recommend anything else on the menu. Our last visit, I did my own combo, $21.. got coconut shrimp, grilled shrimp, and shrimp pasta. The coconut shrimp is not that bad, although the same dish at Papadeaux's is much better. The dipping sauce is a coconut pineapple mixture, tastes like sun tan lotion to me. The grilled shrimp was NOT done, I showed the waiter, they brought me another skewer of them, not sure they were done either. There was almost no seasoning on them, they were basically tasteless. The shrimp pasta is the same pasta used for their crab pasta, which I like much better.. The cheddar garlic biscuits were overcooked and dry.. I remember when you would break one of them open, and the steam would roll out..mmm I think over the course of time, RL has run it's course. They've got cooks that don't care, they haven't changed the carpets or decor in 20 years, and it smells like an old folks' home in there.. After this meal, I felt bloated and sick.. maybe this is because I have become aware of food that is healthy, and realize that I'm putting this stuff into my body.. I enjoy good, healthy, fresh food, but will splurge on occasion, for something that is unhealthy, but really good. RL is neither healthy, fresh, or really good. read more

This is a place where you get Excellent food with exceptional service. They are swamped over the weekends and holidays where you have to wait sometimes for at least 30 min to get a table for a family of four but that explains how this place and their food are liked by the people. I always order their seaside shrimp trio with double lobster legs. My wife Orders their 4 feast meal which comes with unlimited biscuits, soup, desert, main entrée and salad. Ordered $80 of delivery and literally threw it all away because it was so awful. The lobster pasta was inedible, something was very off with the taste and smell of the lobster. Shrimp scampi were tiny shrimp that tasted like frozen microwaved shrimp. The "fried" shrimp were undercooked and mushy. And there is so much food served and the prices reflect that - I would much rather get less food at a better price. I had a seafood platter (on the seasonal menu) with grilled garlic shrimp (good), wood grilled lobster tail (overcooked but tasty), and scallops (also overcooked and rubbery), cole slaw (really cold & crisp - very tasty), and a baked potato. I literally counted maybe 10 people sitting in this big restaurant and Another 15 waiting to be seated..so when we go to put our name on the list, she tells me it's a 1 hour wait! Don't go here. Went there for a date night hoping to have a good dinner and nice time. Ordered shrimp and steak medium well. Steak came out way over done. Pretty much like a dry piece of rubber. I sent it back and asked for it to please be cooked MEDIUM WELL, it came back out over cooked again. At this point my dates food was almost cold so I just ate my steak and sucked it up. I went to Red Lobster for dinner this evening. It was shortly after 4pm. The restaurant was quite and not busy yet. I wanted the endless shrimp before it was gone. So I ordered the Shrimp Scampi and the Shrimp linguini Alfredo with broccoli and garden salad. The salad was nice but smaller then they used to be. It's the perfect size if you're eating more and I was. The scampi was nice and firm and silky in your mouth. Nice and pink in color and not greasy. The taste of garlic was present but not over baring. Which was nice. The linguini wasn't as good. The pasta was gummy and I couldn't twirl the pasta easily. It was over cooked. The broccoli was not steamed enough so you needed a knife to cut through the crowns. Then i ordered the fried shrimp. Now this was great!! Breaded lightly so you could taste the favoring but also the shrimp. It was the perfect addition. The biscuits were fresh and hot. The service was great. The waitress was attentive without hovering. Overall I give Red Lobster a 31/2 star. read more

Quite honestly, the food was just not great, although the biscuits remain consistently good. At the end of the meal, we were brought a device to run our own credit card and pay for the meal. The waiter handed the device to my husband and said, "There's a tutorial you can watch if you need help", and he walked off. I have waited tables before, and it is stunning to me that the customers are asked to run their own credit card and pay for their meal. Not everyone has the tech savvy to do that, and in our case, the device did not work, so we had to go get a manager and request that the waiter do his job and run our credit card. We were very put off by the fact that Red Lobster has become like the grocery store - requiring the customers to check themselves out. We will not return so long as Red Lobster requires the customer to perform the wait staff's job. Tipping is to reward a waiter for the service provided. Don't hand the job off to the customer. The location was 3815 S Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas on January 2, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. There were 7 in our party. We were celebrating a birthday. Literally the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. It was one thing after another. First, they served me basically ketchup and a straw for my Bloody Mary. I asked them to take it back and put vodka in it, and they said it would cost extra. We ordered oysters. They were the tiniest, fishiest things I'd ever seen, so we sent those back and got something slightly less crappy. Still stank, so we didn't risk it. My brother ordered one of their crab meals and SHOCKER it was the wrong one. Sent that back. My usually laid back brother was about to wreck shop. I was in Austin for the day ... so when all nods went to the Red Lobster and my protests were ignored ... I was bitter!! Really? I've eaten at Red Lobster in just about every city I've ever stayed in for any length of time--nothing remarkable. Resigned ... I changed my attitude because ... I like to have fun. After all, I can be bitter about something almost anytime if I start thinking about things .... Lol. It was lunch time ...and I wasn't starving. I picked out the $7.99 Shrimp Taco Lunch Special. I don't recall having been at a Red Lobster for lunch before...that doesn't mean I wasn't -- just don't recall it. I did, however, remember the last time I was at the 1604 location in San Antonio. The portions were child sized and when we questioned the waiter about the deficiency of the served portion ... he claimed that it was weighed in the kitchen... which made me laugh and wonder who was having a party that night. Sooooo .... today, I was hoping they wouldn't put 3 tiny shrimp in the taco ...claim they weighed it ...and then tell me there was actually 10 pounds of shrimp hidden in the shell...Lol. The hostess was friendly... and our waitress had a good disposition and was very timely with her service. We ordered Mozzarella Cheese Sticks as the appetizer and it was fine-- nothing special ... delivered hot with dipping sauces. She brought the little "Garlic and Cheese Red Lobster Biscuits" and they were perfect...hot right out of the oven, not over or under cooked. She brought enough baskets to accommodate everyone at the table... and refilled the baskets without being asked when they were empty--which I appreciated. Then out came my Shrimp Tacos. There were three. They were upright in a rack and looked really tasty. When I picked up the first taco a shrimp fell out the side... no worries, plenty more shrimp were packed inside that shell (the kitchen staff must not have weighed them). I did finally take the Shrimp Taco's out of the rack and lay them on the plate ...I simply needed more room to eat them ...because the shrimp were squishing out the sides of the shell when I held the taco. I wasn't going to cut them up with a knife and fork. It's a damn taco. It was surprisingly good. It was a little messy .... just like a taco should be with a tasty sauce dripping out the sides when you hold it. Every one else enjoyed their lunch and we had Ice tea... which was just okay ... but refilled timely, which is important to me ...as I don't like the feel of a dry parched mouth when trying to swallow my food. Was really craving red lobster last weekend . It has been quite awhile since we had gone there. It was about 930 on Saturday night and they did not close until 11. I have worked in the restaurant business for 25 years so I know it can be a tough job but the mistakes our waiter made were absolutely ridiculous. First of all I really wanted crab legs and I thought you could add them to any meal but when I asked the waiter he looked through the menu as I had already done didn't see it on there and instead of asking like a manager he just said nope guess not. Well one would think since he works for tips and the higher the check the better the tip but not this guy. Whatever I got over it. Usually when a drink cup is empty the server ( a good one anyway) would refill it, one would think. Our waiter dud come and ask if I wanted mire water I said yes so he takes my glass and disappears for about 15 minutes. When he comes back I ask for my water and he says "I didn't bring it to you" so I look all around the table which us really just a table for 2 and nope no water. So he says he will be right back again and disappears for another 5 minutes. Finally our food comes out still no water but now we need the utensil to crack the crab legs and the water. Finally he remembers my water and the crab cracker. My partner ordered lobster and one would think that melted butter would be a given but nope and again we have to ask for the waiter for it. He looks at her like no one in the entire world eats lobster with melted butter and again disappears for 10 minutes finally returning with the butter. Just really frustrated me the way this waiter handled things. I would of asked for a manager but it was already past 11 and there was no manager to be seen. I would think that when you pay almost $100 for a meal it would be a better experience than what we had. read more

I have always loved Red Lobster and have always been provided excellent service. The only complaint I have today is the wait time to receive our food. It took about 15 minutes to receive our food. I didn't even realize they were still around until we drove by the one on South Lamar last month. Turns out it was Lobster Fest. Oh yeah. Wood-grilled split Maine lobster tail, garlic-grilled shrimp, creamy Parmesan lobster and shrimp bake. I don't know if it was as good as I remembered, but it was pretty damn good.
