We had a family birthday for my grandmother with a large group of people and our server, Daniel, was very attentive towards our drinks, he checked up on us, and for this we believe he deserves recognition for his hard work. We understand it's not easy to tackle a large family with another co-worker and their needs at a restaurant but we feel like he helped us make our experience today better than a previous family gathering event. Also, I want to mention the other staff that helped were also amazing! Thank you to everyone.

So, I've been back to Red Lobster and I've really enjoyed the Tuesday Crab special. My server was Valerie and she was friendly and attentive. I'd say, if you have not been there in a while, give it a shot. My crab was pretty delicious and priced reasonable. Hush puppies were a little sweet with corn in them. I like it!

For about eleven years I've had a running joke with the boyfriend that I'd take him to Red Lobster for his birthday since he loves seafood. I do not love it. At all. Plus it's like going to Olive Garden instead of eating in my Nana's kitchen. Anyway, we did Santa Day a little different this year and decided to get the joke out of the way. We had reservations for 8 p.m. and by then they were busy but more on the slowing down side. Our server had three tables when we arrived and was down to two within minutes of our arrival. I ordered a mocktail and never got it. Luckily I wasn't charged for it. We also asked for water. We didn't get it until we asked again when my side salad was brought out. Cutting slack because it was a holiday and even though a manageable crowd, I can only assume the entire day was quite the opposite. Also, our server was a total sweetheart. My salad was fresh. The cheddar biscuits were addictive but I controlled myself and only ate half of one. I won't tell you how many the boyfriend had. I will tell you two baskets were delivered to us. He said his crab carbonara was ok. Nothing special. The portion was huge. I swear it was an entire box of spaghetti. He'll be eating it for days. I had sirloin and a baked potato. I ate half the potato and a couple of bites of the steak. I asked for medium-well but it was absolutely well-done. It hurt my teeth to try and eat it. I didn't want to complain because again, holiday. I brought the leftovers home--between the boyfriend and dog they won't go to waste. A three-star rating for a three-star experience.

    Overcooked lobster

We arrived at noon today, seated immediately in a very low lit area. We thought about trying some wine however the one we wanted, they didn't have. (Merlot) Then we thought about having a margarita. We asked our server how much they were she did not know and then told us that they were on the menu. Neither her nor us were able to find a price. Do not order the lobster lovers duo. Lacks flavor is overcooked tough to chew. We advised our server about the lobster. She told the manager about this and he told her to take our plate to him so he could see it for himself. Maybe this place does business different but other places, the manager usually goes to the table.

The real standout this evening was my server Diana. She knows the menu inside and out and her service was kind and attentive. She made the whole experience better. The food was very good as well. I had shrimp and crab and everything was cooked perfectly and priced reasonably. I'll definitely be asking for Diana next time.

    Salmon New Orleans*

My husband promised to take our kids after sharing a nostalgic story about taking a girl to Red Lobster on his first date. We were seated almost immediately on a Sunday afternoon, which was surprising because usually restaurants are busy during this time. My husband ordered the New Orleans style salmon while I had the shrimp feast with shrimp scampi, Walt's, famous shrimp, and shrimp Alfredo. My children ordered the popcorn shrimp and the chicken tenders and they all enjoyed their meals. The one thing that I was disappointed in was that the salads were no longer complementary as I recalled from when I came years ago. However, what made this visit special was the hostess at the front. I wish I could remember her name, but she took the lobsters out of the tank and showed my children and allowed my kids to pet them. She even gave a quick lesson on how they typically live in the sea and how you have to burp them after taking them out from the water. The restaurant is a bit dark, the booth seats felt a bit sticky and I feel that it could be updated and that is the only reason why I've taken off a few stars, but the staff was great and the service was good.

So I just called Red Lobster a dumpster fire in my last review of another seafood restaurant. On a corporate level yes; this IS my Red Lobster in South Austin. Last review 2009 and truthfully I don't dine here too often as I don't work in town. Another update, Sheryl who mentioned way back when is still there. 42 years at this location! The reason for this visit was two fold. Support the folks that have taken care of me for all these years. Second, Rooster loves fish and chips and wanted to make sure he had a cheddar biscuit fix before summer. The day before Rooster and I spent half the afternoon looking for his retainer in his room. We didn't find it, but I did find two leftover Vanilla gift card he had forgotten about. We had $155 combined to use so why not splurge. GF, son, mom and myself met for lunch. Sure enough Sheryl greeted us and led us to our table. No appetizers consumed because biscuits! Our server was amazing; drinks refilled promptly. All necessary tools provided for the feast to crack those crab legs! Rooster got his Fish and Chip fix; GF had a bowl of chowder and calamari. I settled in for the Ultimate Feast. I do like that it's customizable these days as I usually don't want the fried shrimp. For today I chose the snow crab legs, Maine lobster tail, and double shrimp scampi. Not gonna talk sides except the rock lobster tail I added. Every seafood item cooked gloriously. Scampi was garlic butter excellence; snow crab legs cracked with ease. Maine lobster tail versus the rock tail provided different nuances in flavor. With gift cards used we owed $6. Add in tip and we dined in extravagance for $46. Support your local RL!

We've given this place plenty of chances over the years and I'd really hoped for things to improve this time. Picked up a large order for my father's birthday dinner and not only did they leave out the fish and chips (ordered and paid for an hour in advance + extra fifteen minute wait, forced to refund after they refused to deliver), the cheddar bay biscuits were cold and the lobster in the seafood boil looked more like a mystery nugget picked off of the kitchen floor. Never again.

The bartender Bianca was absolutely amazing. Let me know about happy hour drinks, suggested the crab carbanara and it was sooo good! Only bad thing: the bar tile was making my feet slip. Definitely coming back to see Bianca! What an amazing Christmas experience!

Terrible!BEWARE!!!! Found a roach in my food. This is so gross and unsanitary. I ate some of the pasta where the same spot i noticed that theres little dead roach in it. This is beyond unacceptable! This is a big health risk! I am so upset. G

The bar definitely had plenty of TVs, so if you're sports person. You could easily catch a game while here. One of the Table tents, notified guest of a happy hour for oysters, which I'm not an oyster fan, but hey to each their own. Had to try out the clam chowder and it was one of the best clam chowder I've had quite some time. You could easily taste the clams at a really nice consistency not too thin, not too thick and I didn't even have to add any salt to it. It was just really tasty. When the clam trotter was delivered, I happened to look at what other plates were on the serving tray ready to go out in one of them happen to be this phenomenal salmon dish. I asked the gentleman what it was and he said it was his favorite dish on the menu, so of course had to try it the salmon dish absolutely out of this world the glaze on it side. It came with it. Everything just fit really well together and y'all that plate was clean by the time it went back. This place is definitely on my shortlist as I really would like to try some of their other plates again that salmon and the clam chowder really made an impression and highly rate this place if you're looking for a good seafood place in Austin. The vibe of the restaurant was laid-back, but also very open, clean setting clean lines plenty of light and they even had really clean restrooms. The staff also was very pleasant and friendly with every one I interacted with.

The seafood was not good. Not "not my favorite," not "a little off" -- just plain not good. The menu was also bizarre in a way that felt less creative and more like someone lost a bet and had to build a restaurant around the leftovers. And if you're looking for anything dairy-free or gluten-free, good luck. The options are basically "no" with a side of disappointment. It is not family friendly at all, with no options for children. We had a later reservation around 8:45 and sat outside, loveee their lighting outside!! Their patio is so cute and has such a fun atmosphere. The service was amazing! Our waitress was super attentive and did a great job answering any questions we had about the menu. We started with the calamari and BBQ shrimp. The calamari was cooked well, but I felt like it was missing a little something flavor-wise. The green sauce tasted more like a salsa, and I think some extra seasoning or even more lemon would have made it perfect. The BBQ shrimp was SO good!! The bread that came with it was amazing for dipping into the sauce. The sauce definitely has a little kick to it, so be prepared if you're sensitive to spice! For drinks, we tried the Shipwreck Spritz and Sea Mist. The Shipwreck Spritz was so refreshing and genuinely tasted how a beach house smells if that makes any sense lol. The Sea Mist was also really good and had more of a spicy/refreshing flavor. For our mains, we got the fish and chips and wood grilled oysters. The oysters were super flavorful, and my fish was cooked perfectly. Similar to the calamari, I just felt like the sauce with the fish and chips could have used a little more flavor. We finished with espresso martinis, which usually aren't my favorite, but I actually really enjoyed these! Overall, we had such a great anniversary dinner and loved the atmosphere, food, and service. This shows they have good taste, good judgement and want to be near neighboring trucks that serve fine food. * * * How is Pete's? a) Nearly all Cajun seafood is good. Cajun seafood is like chocolate. There is better. There is worse. It is never bad. b) Pete's boiled Cajun shrimp is completely lovely. I would eat this over and over again. Since Pete's is near my house, I intend to become a regular. c) Cajun seafood is much easier to eat in a restaurant than at a food truck. This is because the final concoction is wet (due to the boiling stock) oily (because the oils make things taste good) and bright red (because of the spices.) You are looking at a dry cleaner's dream. In a restaurant you get solid plates and bowls to eat the good stuff in. At Pete's you get a Styrofoam container to hold the mess. This is like using a cotton bag to take home red paint.
