Not sure why you would really ever go to red lobster. They have a nice looking Menu, but the second they bring the food out you start to question why you came. Used to be our favorite lunchtime spot. Last 4 visits have been less than stellar. Restaurant not clean - table sticky. Waitress acting like she was doing us a tremendous favor by waiting on us - funny, there was hardly anyone in the place and it is usually jammed. The (hot) tea was cold. The potato was lukewarm. Cole slaw is excellent. Shrimp tasted fishy like it was old. I really have been disappointed. Wrapped the biscuits in a napkin because waitress was nowhere to be found to get one of the bags. Eh. Top notch food and service here. This was our email to Red Lobster. If you are staying at one of the nearby hotels don't hesitate to stop in even if its kinda late! Ate dinner at this location with my wife last night and it was fabulous. We checked in to our hotel across the parking lot much later that anticipated and got to Red Lobster at 9:30. We both worked in restaraunts in the past so we knew it's not real cool to come in right before close but we were really hungry after a 6 HR drive. We expected to be a bit rushed so we already knew what we wanted to eat and we're prepared to be quick. We were greeted by the most friendly server we may have ever had Heather B. She did a fantastic job! Didn't rush us at all and just made us feel very welcome even at that late hour. The food was fantastic! Everything was very well prepared and HOT! I know as a cook how much it sucks to get that late order when you are trying to close up but the did a great job. Just can't say enough how happy we are with how we were treated at this location. You have a top notch server with Heather and your cooks showed us that no matter what time it is they are prepared to get the food done right. People are never hesitant to complain when things are wrong so i wanted to make sure you all knew when something goes very right! Nothing special about this place at all. Basic chain restaurant, always has a long wait but the night we went we got right in probably because it was a beautiful day outside and everyone one else was grilling. Came here after a movie and I tried their new "wood grilling" meals. I got scallops, shrimp and a lobster tail, all tasted burned and gross. The one thing here that is always on point are their cheddar bay biscuits, I love those things. I can make a meal of them in itself. Red Lobster is my guilty pleasure - I love eating here despite the fact that the seafood is not exactly the best quality. They still have the best bread product of any restaurant I've been to, and the shrimp are great, despite weakness in the actual fish department. I used to come here once or twice a year when I went to college in the area. When I returned last week on a business trip, I hit up the Colonie location again. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. Traveling alone, I went to the bar. Unfortunately, no one was running the bar at the time. Other servers kept coming to dispense beer for their own tables, but they ignored me sitting there waiting to be served. I had to ask one of them if anyone was going to help me... eventually someone came and took care of me. I ordered the steak and shrimp. The beer, shrimp, salad, and biscuits were up to the usual standards. But goodness, that steak was terrible. I mean, really terrible. It wasn't cooked in the center at all. I travel frequently and dine in many fine establishments. I enjoy a Red Lobster but generally only get the expected, tonight was different . Not that the food was superior, it was good but not out of the norm. The highlight was watching and talking with the bartender ( bartenderess) Janielle, who was exceptional. Not only did she put up with me and my stories, she did the work of several people without skipping a beat. It was refreshing to watch such a dedicated person who truly enjoyed and excelled in her job. She made a good restaurant experience great. Service is very friendly and they seat you pretty quick. I got a mango drink thing and it tasted like a mango pineapple smoothie from McDonald's but with rum. I like that smoothie so to me it was really good lol. I got the Seafood Trio Platter. Scallops were very mild, and the stuffed flounder was pretty thick but decent. Only reason Im not rating a 5 is because we didn't get a full dinner. Our waitress was great. Robin was here name and she really took care of us. This particular Red Lobster gets a 5 star - the service here has always been incredible, and I have never had a bad meal. For a really long time I hated the idea of going to Red Lobster because I hated seafood, well maybe hate is a strong word....I disliked most sea creatures and refused to try most of them. However one day I had no choice but to go there, so I thought to make the best of it, surely there had to be something on there that I would like, and sure enough I found the meal of my dreams. To start, the balsamic vinaigrette is a great dressing choice, it is got a good little kick to it without being overwhelming. The cheddar biscuits always come out hot, and they are so moist and soft - I could eat about a million of them! Occasionally I will order the appetizer where you can get 2 or 3 items for a set price - usually getting mozzarella sticks and calamari - both which I have always had great success with getting. Lastly, my meal - I think I would put it up in my top 10, maybe even top 5 meals ever. The shrimp, lobster steak oscar (the name is something like that, maybe just in a different order), it is to die for. It is a New York Strip steak, served over mashed potatoes, with shrimp and lobster bits that have a white wine butter cream sauce on it. I cannot even describe the taste, other than to say it is an explosion of greatness in my mouth. You must try this dish! read more

Seated quickly for a Saturday evening. Waitress came over right away and was polite and on top of things. The restaurant is so big that it feels kind of warehouse-like. We hoped that the lack of atmosphere would be the downside...but it wasn't. The food was gross. Everything was as we ordered and delivered hot. Among us, we have five types of shrimp, all tiny little things and none of the flavors were pronounced or even yummy. The lobster tail was just blah. Even the side dishes were bland and nothing to talk about. The bill for four came to sixty bucks, which is average for a dinner, but the food wasn't worth it. It wasn't worth complaining about--the quality and blandness seemed like it was an across the board problem that couldn't be fixed easily. This is the place you take your retired mother or grandparents to. Its your average run of the mill sea food place. The lobster tail was sweet and tasty, the wood grilled shrimp was very good, had nice smoke flavor to it. The Cesar salad and dressing was also very tasty. Everything else on the plate was your run of the mill diner food, steam broccoli and rice pilaf. The BEST thing about red lobster is their cheddar biscuits, they are so addictive. My husband received a gift card for his birthday so we thought it would be a decent place to take our daughter for family night, although our expectations were not high as this is a chain restaurant. The food was absolutely horrible, to the point where we had to send back inedible appetizers. I have no issue paying premium prices for proper food but paying over $200 for items that were of diner quality is unacceptable to me.
