They now have an happy hour for $5 appetizer; and $5 choose two taster items; $4 for a draft beer before 6pm. Pretty good deal! Today I had scallops, 4 big scallops on a skewer, and grilled quite exactly right. No complain at all. Husband had Salmon New Orlean, topped with shrimps, which was quite satisfying also. This particular Red Lobster has bottled as well as draft beer on the Menu, but turned out they didn't actually serve the draft version, and the waitress did not explain that, creating an embarrassing moment. read more

I wish I could give them more stars. I just can't. I have been to this location several times over the years. It has generally been so so to awful. Last night, the service was very good. We had an attentive waitress, who went out of her way to be accommodating. She was the highlight of our meal. The biscuits are wonderful. If I could just rate the biscuits, they would have 5 stars. We requested a second basket. I knew it would kill me, but they are so delicious, I was happy to risk it. We started the evening with the calamari. My husband requested it as calamari only, since past experience has shown us, it is usually 3/4 fried veggies 1/4 calamari. Our waitress accommodated and brought a nice big plate of only calamari. Unfortunately, it was deep fried shoe leather. The texture was super weird. It was as if the squid had been somehow precooked minus the batter. I was not a fan. The entrees came out on massive plates. I ordered the Lobster Lover's Dream, available for LobsterFest. It was a rock lobster tail, Maine lobster tail and shrimp and lobster linguini. The Maine tail was ok. The rock lobster tail had a fishy flavor that was not pleasant. I was not happy with the linguini. It was an odd consistency with slightly overcooked shrimp. Even my green beans were overcooked and limp. It wasn't worth the price. My husband ordered the Ultimate feast. He said it was ok; nothing special. We didn't make it to dessert. My friends and I were hanging out this afternoon when one of them checked their Facebook and saw that one of her co-workers had checked in to Red Lobster to celebrate their anniversary. She immediately made fun of them when I mentioned that I had heard that they recently revamped their menu. She decided to look at it and after a quick perusal, decided that we were going there for dinner. Honestly, this was not how I was expecting to spend my Saturday night but I can't be mad with unlimited cheddar bay biscuits hot from the oven and oodles and oodles of noodles drenched in a butter laden shrimp. Sure my mouth has shrunken from all of that high sodium but if that isn't the sign of a delicious dinner than I don't know what is. The restaurant has transformed itself from the razz-and-pizazz of my childhood into a slightly more elevated casual feel with lots of dark wood and subtle nautical images. Our server was on point and made sure to check on us often and offer us refills on biscuits and water. He split our check even though we did not ask and cleared our plates like a champ. I'm the type of person who always looks on the bright side of things, but none of that exists in this restaurant. I remember having fond memories of Red Lobster, and frequently visiting with my family as a child. I thought it would be nice to come back with my family as adults, for old times sake. WORST MISTAKE EVER! Waitress was (for lack of better words) ghetto. She took our drink orders, all 5 steaks came out WAY over done (i'm talking medium rare steaks came out almost well done), and she was rude as was the entire wait staff at the restaurant. I felt a little hostility from the moment we sat down, possibly because we are a large family of asians -- and ya know what they say about how asians tip. (Her loss, we are a family of former waiters. We know how it goes.) The waitress was hostile, and was rude to us when we pointed out our meal was over cooked. We were so upset that we jjust asked for the bill, paid, and left. I was so upset with our experience that I called the general manager the next day , who kindly apologized for her behavior and mailed me a $50.00 gift certificate. Food was so bad and staff was so horrible, that it has been sitting on my dresser for months. I will not go back to that restaurant or any red lobster ever again. Where do I start... well, I guess with where each customer has to being at Red Lobster in Fairfax, which is with a very long wait. On my second or third visit to giving this place a try, the story was the same. Walk in, be told there is a 20-minute wait while the waiting area if packed full of people and several, I mean a dozen or more, empty tables and booths sit lonely throughout the restaurant. WAIT... ...OK, now it's been 40 minutes. You're about to complain and walk out, when your buzzer goes off. You're so hungry you somewhat angrily drop the buzzer on the host stand and follow the next member of the Lobstersquad to your table. I don't understand the wait time with such a not-busy place. They make it look busy from the front door, but it isn't. It's just very poor management and not scheduling enough people to work. Imagine how much better this restaurant could be doing if they didn't make people wait and filled all the seats they have? Our server was barely understandable as he mumbled unenthusiastically at us. He forgot to bring refills, even after being asked. But he did get the order right. Congrats? The menu at Red Lobster is pretty robust and full of options, and y'know, I guess the reason I keep torturing myself here is because I usually go for a late dinner when I need to get back and do something else and don't feel like driving out to Joe's Crab Shack or somewhere better. So, with good enough food to help me get that seafood fix, Red Lobster manages to swindle me in. I don't think I'll fall for it again though... my meal was pretty good, but the crab legs were tiny and almost hollow without any meat. Just not good quality. And the entire steam pot was cooked in some buttery soup that made my arteries want to explode. The house salad that came before the meal? A pitiful amalgamation of iceberg lettuce and blah. After having spent three years assigned in Germany we were thankful to finally enjoy a meal in America at a restaurant that we were familiar with. Anyone having spent time in Europe knows that you will not always receive what you "think" you ordered due to the communication barrier. After an eight-hour plane ride from Germany, and a two-hour car ride in horrific traffic from BWI, we were elated to see that a Red Lobster was right next to our hotel! While our children were jet-lagged and still half-asleep we hoisted them over our shoulders and made our way into the restaurant. Unlike Germany, we were glad to be seated without reservations and ordered our meals: the salmon topped with shrimp in a butter cream sauce (for me) and seafood tacos (for my husband). We ordered one kid's popcorn shrimp for our daughters. Unfortunately, my meal came out looking just like my six-year old daughter had made it (with some help from her five-year old sister). Unlike the photo, the mashed potatoes on my meal were served separately and it looked like they were scraped from the bottom and sides of the pot (all lumpy and hard). While my salmon was prepared well the shrimp were a little overcooked (what a shame from a SEAFOOD RESTAURANT)... My husband didn't seem to have any issues with his meal but I wasn't happy with the kid's meal. The popcorn shrimp had that "poopie vein" on top (yuck!) and the fries were overcooked. It's a good thing our daughters stayed asleep during the meal...which we left untouched. Having dined all over Europe in the last several years I'm starting to wish we could bring some of Europe to America (as in let's take a little pride in our work--especially since we are charging our customers an arm and a leg for it). In "Yelp-clusion" (conclusion), the highlight of this trip was the convenience to our hotel, the yummy biscuits, and the sweet server who took our order. She was the reason we did not get up and leave when our food was delivered. As a Charlestonian, I could prepare better seafood when I was still in pampers with a pacifier hanging around my neck. Okay, this would have been a one star review except I am cutting them a break as I visited on Father's Day, when they were busy. But the biggest complaint is why were they not prepared for a busy Father's Day? I will start with the bogus call ahead seating. I timed it perfectly for a 30 minute wait time by getting there in 27 minutes. I checked in at the hostess stand and the hostess let me know that they just needed to clean off a few tables and it would be about 15 minutes. We waited for 40 minutes, as they seated table after table. When the hostess left the stand and I went to look at the list and my name was not there! When she got back I asked her and for some reason she had removed me from the list! We waited five more minutes and were seated without cutlery and napkins since they had run out! The wall of our booth was filthy (see pics). The booth was also not centered properly. People on one side could barely breathe because they were up against the table while the other side had to sit forward to reach the table. There was no way to adjust since both tables and seats were attached to the wall. The waitress service was just okay. We placed our apps order immediately. The tuna poke came relatively quick but the calamari took about 25 minutes. I ordered a frozen pina colada with the peach flavoring on top. When I got it, no peach flavoring. I drank it anyway since it had taken about 15 minutes to be served and our waitress was no where to be found. Our food order took about 50 minutes to come out. I ordered lobster tacos and it was very apparent that they had sat under the heat lamp for a considerable length of time. The tortillas were inedible, the avocado was beginning to brown, and the lobster was dried out. I ate the innards with little pleasure. For three people the tab with tip was $165. I seriously wish we had spent that kind of money on something that actually tasted good. So many better options but someone had to have lobster. I am unsure if we will ever return to this location. While the waitress that we had was fine, in general this location seems to need some help. We requested a booth and were brought to a dirty one, then met with apathy when we confirmed that yes, we would prefer a booth over a table. I'm not one to ever send anything back but I purchased one alcoholic drink (no prices listed on the menu) and there was literally no taste of alcohol at all. To give perspective, I only drink once a month at most, so I know it wasn't just me. It was some expensive juice I ended up buying. Was a fan, not anymore. I have been here a few times and to be honest, I thought it was decent. Considering the fact, that they are the closest location to where I live. We saw the pre-fixed meal for about $16 and that would have been the perfect option for us, although unfortunately, it was only available Monday through Thursday. It was okay though, we were willing to order something else. ------- ***Food & Drink: My boyfriend ordered the Endless Shrimp, a promotion that they are known for and currently having at the moment which offers any of their five select shrimp dishes at an unlimited rate for $18.99. Seemingly like a great offer at the time, he decided to get this. To our demise, it wasn't exactly what we expected and none of the dishes were great...below average actually. The shrimp scampi was abominable as the dish comes out piping hot in a vat of garlic buttery mess with only a few measly shrimps floating around in the surplus of butter. Then there was the handbreaded shrimp, which was a basic fried shrimp with a little cocktail sauce on the side, which was nonetheless unimpressive. Their new Nashville Hot Shrimp sounded good, but came out as breaded fried shrimp drenched in honey, which was overly sweet for our taste. So he reluctantly, tries to offer us dessert, but his attitude has not changed at all, resulting in our unwillingness to cooperate. We even displayed to Steve, the manager, evidence, of the uneaten food, which he just glared at and nonchalantly overlooked. He by no means, wanted to deal with or handle our situation and offered no apologies, nothing. We had received the bill, and paid for it, despite the part of the meal that we hadn't even touched or eaten. Leaving very angrily, upset, my boyfriend, still hungry, asked for the manager's name and card, which he could not even bring to us in person, but had a server bring it out. This was our first visit since the late 1990's. Having said that, this place was a nice surprise. We visited, largely, because our hotel was next door and the weather was cold. We ordered the grilled shrimp skewers and the Ultimate feast. Presentation and tastiness were OK. The total cost for two with 1 non-alcoholic drink each: $53 with tip. My daughter was celebrating her birthday and wanted to try Red Lobster. My last few experiences at Red Lobster have not been great so I did not have high hopes. We all ordered the Ultimate Feast which is Crab legs , Lobster Tail, Shrimp Scampi & Fried Shrimp and two side . My wife and I ordered a baked potato and broccoli for our sides. Their biscuits are still very good and the crab legs were good and so was the broccoli. The Lobster Tail tasted way too salty. It was not good at all. Not sure how you mess up cooking lobster tails but Red Lobster succeeded. None of us enjoyed our Lobster Tail which was extremely disappointing considering lobster is not cheep in this area. The shrimp scampi was not any better. Again over salted and sitting in a large pool of butter. The fried shrimp was some of the worst fried shrimp I ever had . Not sure what was going on with the breading . It had a very funny taste to it. One bit and I was done. Even though we took home what we did not finish it was thrown out the next day. My food was overall good but it was average tasting. The mashed potatoes with lobster didn't have much lobster in them and they were salty but the Brussels sprouts were good. We ordered a couple of celebration dinners for my son's 8th Grade Graduation (virtual of course.) I ordered it as pick up. When I got home, we were missing a fish order. We called and let them know. Big fan of Red Lobster however, if you want timely service don't come here. Management and staff needs more training. No communication amongst manager and hosts. When we asked for a table the hostess told us 5-10min wait. Then there was a transition amongst the hosts. We wait for more than 10 minutes. A couple walked in and were seated before us. A second party walked in and they were almost sat before us but I said something. Wait staff unorganized. We were seated and waited an additional 15 minutes and no one had come to greet us or take our drink order etc. The restaurant wasn't packed. So we left. Drove to the Red Lobster in Dulles. While I mostly enjoy Red Lobsters around the country, this particular place gives me mixed memories. It was this incident with this little old Chinese lady who served us -or rather spoiled our dining experience that night leaving lasting impressions about this spot. Clear discrimination was at the display by not serving properly and missing cordiality. At first, we thought it was her character but soon realized it wasn't the case since the customers sitting next aisle were treated in a godly manner with a full smile and enthusiastic behavior. The food was pretty standard, but our server was excellent. She was extremely attentive and accommodated our every request. Our bread basket and water were never empty, and when I asked for extra lemons in my water, she brought back a little dish full of lemons. I got the over-broiled flounder, which came with a salad and a side. The caesar salad was drowning in dressing and cheese, but the flounder was quite tasty. When I asked for mushrooms and green peas as my side, I got a load of green peas and a single shriveled mushroom on my plate. The food was alright: it's the service I'm iffy about. My boyfriend wanted a certain thing from the endless shrimp deal and the waitress looked at him as if he was crazy. She scolded him saying that he'll get full quickly from what he first picked and insisted on getting him something else. She was a bit sassy which was uncalled for but overall, I guess the service was ok. He eventually found a piece of paper in one of his dishes (which clearly had distinguishable printed lettering on it), but both the chef and manager dismissed it as a shrimp shell (???). It's a bit careless to let things like paper to get into the food, even more so if they seemingly don't care. We ended up essentially leapfrogging our meals with time between each item being brought out. The wrong appetizer was also brought to our table at one point. Sooo....I was so annoyed I wasn't even going to leave a review because I didn't want it to be emotionally charged and therefore bias toward this location. But its been ten days and after speaking with another fellow family member who was not privy to my experience, I felt I needed to share and also be very honest about why I will never ever be stepping foot into this location again. In fact, if I hadn't had two very recent experiences with other locations in the past month, I would probably say Red Lobster was dead to me altogether as a chain just off of this experience alone. We were all too excited to celebrate my Nana's 70th birthday with 4 generations of our family gathering to celebrate our family matriarch! In fact, this was the first time we would have all ten of the great grandbabies in one place including the two newest additions born in the past few months. We had so many surprises planned for my Nana on this day and I initially had her thinking it was just me and her going to lunch. Needless to say, when we all surprised her at church earlier that morning and then she showed up to Red Lobster, one of her favorite places, just to find 30 of her family and friends waiting for her, the look on her face was priceless. We walked in and instead of receiving a warm greeting that a group of our size who will be spending a crap load of money in an establishment should expect to receive, I was told by several members of my party that we had a 30 minute plus wait...WHAT?! I called and personally spoke to the Manager first thing this morning at 10:55AM before the restaurant was even opened. I explained to her that my group would be showing up at promptly 2:15PM right after church service and I happily offered my personal credit card to secure the reservation. From attending a Yelp Elite event at this establishment last summer I knew for a fact that they are not busy. So there was no excuse for this drama. The "lovely" manager informed me that she was the one who spoke with me & she told me that it was "call ahead"...Umm lady, I did just that...I called ahead of storming your establishment with 40 of my loved ones. So she kept giving me excuses about how long the wait was going to be...I simply repeated myself 4x...."How long is the wait?"....."How long is the wait?"...."How.Long.Is.The.Wait?"...About 20 minutes later, we were seated in some sort of a makeshift area. It was a combo of five tables in the dining room while we watched an entire dining room area right behind it sit empty which would have allowed us all to sit together. But OK, we will make it work. Here is where is really started to hit the proverbial fan.... 1) I had 10 kids under the age of 10 in my party...why in the heck did the waitress only take drink orders for half of the table and not think it was going to be an issue when she came back with only three cups of juice for 10 thirsty kids? 2) I had to personally walk up to the Manager after being seated for 23 minutes (yes, I timed her) without so much as a single waitress coming over to acknowledge our presence and let us know that our lovely biscuits were on their way. 3) NOT ONCE did said Manager come over and ask our party how we were doing....not once in our two plus hour dining visit. Seriously, there are a total of 5 other parties here...what the heck have you been doing the whole time we were here? 4) It took over TWO hours for us to dine...now, I am all for a casual dining experience but this was RL....you got about 5 choices...get the food out here and let's go! 5) Dangit, if RL can't figure out how to order inventory so that they don't run out of apple juice! UGH! This was our second visit in a month where there was no aj...OK, you come explain that to these little ones! 6) Mean Manager Lady, you knew we were here for a birthday celebration. Yet you couldn't even acknowledge my Nana nor comp a single app, etc. It's not that we expect anything for free...but you totally screwed up my reservation and tried to show your tail in front of my Nana. You should have at least acknowledged her presence. Because I guarantee you, any other establishment in the area would have loved to have us there at a dead time where they typically don't have the chance to make over $1K on a non-football Sunday afternoon. BUT! What prompted me the most to write this review, was learning from my lil' sis who arrived late to the party that as she was coming out of the restroom M.M.L. said to her that she was so happy "the noise" was gone...as in our party was noisy...sorry M.M.L. if you expected 10 toddlers and a huge party of 30 plus to sit super quietly like mutes in your lobby that seats eight comfortably while you tried to recover from screwing up my reservation in your empty restaurant.
