You know that scene in John Candy's movie "Summer Rental" where he is at the seafood restaurant and gets to the front of the line and asks them to cook the remaining lobsters up for him,,,, and they say to him that the lobsters are taken.. and he throws a fit and leaves???? That was us last night. Red Lobster had a great promotion on lobsters,,,, but were sold out by 4:30 in the afternoon,,, really???? That's called the "Bait and Switch" When a retailer brings you in with a great sale, but has a limited number of items to sell, knowing they will sell other stuff when you get in there because you went there to buy,, or Eat !! Came here for dinner yesterday for my birthday. I'm 25....lol! I hadn't been to this location in years. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. It wasn't busy for a Wednesday, so we were seated right away. I had the coconut shrimp, Sissy had the dish with 2 lobster tails & shrimp alfredo. Mommy had the Southwest shrimp tacos which she loved. It was so nice because our server asked if we were celebrating something special & we said yes. They sang happy birthday to me & gave me a scoop of ice cream with fudge on it. Yum! Our server was really nice & attentive. I needed more dessert (I know...my dessert stomach!), so I ordered the fudge brownie a la mode that we shared. It was SO good! I love Red Lobster but come on what's with the dine in only offers??? We can't always go out to eat and I'm sure other people would say the same. So to have our food order delivered is like a penalty. Not allowing use to use the special offers you send makes us go elsewhere for our food. Well, if you're going to red lobster, I'm going to tell ya, you better prepared to wait two hours even three don't be in a big hurry with this because going to the all you can eat shrimp anytime after five it's a shooting gallery service as far as I'm concerned, was absolutely horrible I've seen it they're better at busy times. Maybe they got just bad helper slow help or no help I don't know what it is but I know I'm not gonna be waiting another 2 1/2 hours for my dinner again, I said if I do, it's gonna be a long time for a little bit now. He acted like he didn't comprehend anything that was said to him and every time he walked away from the table he would give my sister evil looks. Being that this is a chain seafood restaurant I had a difficult time between 2 - 3 starts. The reason for the 3 is the service. Went here with one other on a Friday about 6:00 pm. The restaurant was pretty full when we went as they were having their shrimp promotion. Since this was an all you can eat shrimp of choice the first serving and each consecutive serving was very small. The skewers of teriyaki had 4-5 super small shrimp. While I understand the principle of all you can eat, it becomes a problem when it takes 20-25 minutes between each order. By the time we had 2 refills it was almost an hour and a half. The lobster bisque was barley warm and when I told the waitress she brought it back so hot it started to cook on top with a darker film. There was a shrimp with cheese selection with taco chips. It was just cheese like you can get in nachos at any gas station. It was obviously microwaved. My fiancée and I came here for dinner while in the suburbs. This red lobster was really nice. The wait was like 15mims but i always recommend making a reservation. I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1 only because our server Mekayla was very nice. She provided me with a separate menu to help me find some gluten free choices and was very friendly and down to earth. But the food-wow. It had no taste. I had the Salmon New Orleans which was supposed to be blackened and come in a Cajun sauce. I'm not usually good with spicy so I was a little apprehensive. So I ordered the one for 16..79 and if I had of know I would get very little Alfredo sauce I would have got it with extra sauce but at a cost of 3.99. The noodles on top had no sauce so I as we stirring I thought that's where the sauce was boy was I wrong this was the worse chicken, Alfredo, I have ever had and I only like Red Lobster Alfredo. It is the first day of 2021 and I ordered two meals from red lobster. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and crab Alfredo linguini which totaled $36+ and there is minimal meat at best. In the pictures you'll see 7 small/medium slices of chicken and 2 larger than medium but not large pieces. The linguini was the same amount. I paid almost $40 for romaine lettuce, a sprinkle of Parmesan pasta and the bare minimum of chicken and crab. I will not be returning to this red lobster again for the duration of 2021. Our food? Great. Our waitress? Amazing. The stars do not reflect her service or the quality of food. So what gave RL a one- star from us tonight? The management. We took our family of six into RL for dinner on June 20, 2019 at around 6:00pm. We have four children and the youngest is eight months old and like every family has experienced one time or another, he uses his vocal cords to communicate the only way he knows how to (aka yelling and shouting). Lucky for us though, tonight he was not doing that, however, we were close to another family whose infant was being vocal. This did not bother us in the least bit as it shouldn't. Babies cry, scream, shout, and go on. That is the only way they know how to express themselves and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. With this being said, our issues with RL started after this point. Our waitress came to our table and apologized for this other families baby being "too noisy". At this point my husband told her it was no big deal, babies cry, and she shouldn't feel the need to apologize for that baby. The waitress then informed him that her manager told the waitresses that they were required to go to all the tables and apologize because there had been a couple of complaints. After hearing this my husband went to the front and asked to speak with the manager and asked why at a family restaurant would he require that to which he came up with nothing good in response to explain that. Instead he just kept asking who our waitress was. If Red Lobster is really a family friendly restaurant then why is the manager apologizing for a baby being just that, a baby?! Finally, to wrap this review up I'm going to go ahead and say that this family was trying to do everything to help their infant quiet down. The dad was up and down with the baby, they were talking to him, playing with him, everything. Before we left the table that the manager was so rudely "apologetic" for celebrated a birthday. The mom of that baby was sung "Happy Birthday" to which she chose to celebrate with her s.o., mom, and baby at Red Lobster. How sad would it be to be that mom, just wanting to have a meal out for her birthday, only to have the manager of that restaurant making a big production about her crying baby? read more

On a particular day as I usually stop in from time to time for years to have lunch at this red lobster in Jalliet. Nothing different order my same meal as I always do, and so that wagers ask me do they normally charge you up charge for your catfish I said no. So the next thing I look up there is a an identifiable lady standing in front of me, saying that there will be a 359 up charge for your fried catfish and I'm not quite sure who who put that in for you for no charge. I had no idea who this lady was talking to me she didn't even identify herself nor did she even greet me. So when she said what she said I said immediately absolutely not and I left. Set an a car and called corporate office while I was sitting in the parking lot of red lobster. I just simply wanted them to know whoever this lady was that was I'm assuming was the supervisor or manager who was representing their establishment was unprofessional on every level. I didn't explain to the very nice lady from corporate Anna exactly what transpired. And it was so professional and so kind hearted to hear me out and to also give me a $30 gift card, which I told Anna that was not my goal my goal was to inform them of just how rude this person was at their establishment in Jalliet. I went back in to re-order in the same person and identifiable came out and greeted me and for the insulted me to say that you can have the three create your own three for $20.And I said to herWhy would I choose to create your own for $20 when the salad platter is only 1299 and then with additional $3.49?for a charge. She says to me because you didn't want the sailor platter for the extra charge before. So I said to her so now you think I'm dumb thank you have a good day I said to the lady. As my food come I enjoy my meal I'm looking around at the same lady who never identified herself while talking to me who she was. As she addressed an ingredient other guess that was dining in as well. What was most alarming she was granting other customers that was done very courteous and friendly friendly and happy approach. And I just couldn't even take it anymore so when she walked past me I asked her what was her name and her position, she said my name is Lisa and I'm the manager here and I said wow Lisa I've noticed how unprofessional you are and I noticed How rude to me you were on the first occasion, and then on the second occasion you further than he insulted my intelligence as if I couldn't hear the difference between a 1299 mill in a $20 meal. It wasn't until I informed you that I called corporate, that you waive my meal but even with that being said. You still didn't have the tenacity to come out and apologize for such a poor customer service as a supervisor/manager for us I will establish restaurants such as red lobster in Joliet on route 30 in Joliet Illinois. As far as a place to go for inexpensive seafood, I think this isn't that bad. There are plenty of 100$+ places we go to get lobster or Ahi tuna. But we really haven't had a bad experience yet at Red Lobster. Knock on wood, we go here at least once a month because our son really likes it. We always order the Ultimate Feast. It comes with shrimp scampi, lobster tail, fried shrimp, crab legs, and a side. I really like the lobster mashed potatoes, or the asparagus. The oysters are a hit or miss, but if they don't look fresh, we will send them back, and they will always take them off the bill. We have pretty much always had a nice server, but you can't win them all. Super disappointed in my family & I's experience here. We've been here many times and never had issues but today was just ridiculous. Our order took over an hour to come out and had to be reordered for whatever reason. Then the waitress got part of my fiancé's order wrong. We asked for a cup of water and we had to wait such a long time for it even though the restaurant was not even half full (Tuesday night). We got offered free desert for our wait which we accepted and asked for the brownie. She brought it to us to go in a container instead and the supposed warm brownie was frozen and super hard to eat. A group of friends and I go to Red Lobster every year for endless shrimp. We always end up going to the Joliet location because it is the closest to all of us. We don't have super high expectations, and we always make sure the server knows what she or he is getting into (the guys in the group usually make this a competition and we always tip well for servers that keep the refills coming). This time around, I was horrified at the service we recieved. Since we had so many people in our party, Red Lobster's policy is to give us two servers. They split us into groups that didn't even make sense (no couples, etc). One of our servers acted like she was our best friend, telling inappropriate stories (I won't go into detail but, seriously). We had asked for the checks to be split into couples but it didn't come that way. When we asked again, this split personality server acted like we were asking her to climb Mt. Everest. The other server who we didn't see much couldn't figure it out. We waited probably a good 20 minutes for our checks. By then, we all decided they were not getting any extra gratuity than what was already tacked onto the checks for the group. I am thinking we will probably go elsewhere next year. read more

Pros: The service was great! My waiter did what you would think a waiter should do: be attentive, fast, and nice. This was the biggest Red Lobster I have ever been too. It was very clean. We had a great time. Our waitress, I believe her name was Royauna, was phenomenal even though she was having bad allergies. We got the flavored lemonades, I had peach and hubby had strawberry, both were very yummy. I had the grilled lobster, shrimp, salmon - it was cooked to perfection! My husband had the You Pick Trio with extra steak. The steak was the best we had tasted in Joliet! Cooked perfect too as we like medium rare - I had a bite too! The only downside was the Parm Chicken Alfredo. There was barely any sauce and it wasn't as creamy as my husband prefers.
