Went there today for lunch with my husband. We haven't been here in awhile now since our last visit left such a horrible taste in our mouth, literally. And pushy waiter. Well, I'm happy to say this was 1 of the best meals we have had in a VERY LONG TIME!!!! PERFECT!! Perfect fish,perfect scallops,perfect shrimp and awesome asparagus! And to make a great meal even better we had 1 of the nicest, kindest waiter. Antonia M. He wasn't up our butt every 2 minutes bugging us if we were ok, but checked on us like a normal human being would. Very personable and made our meal even better. Living in Joliet we visit here pretty frequently my husband always orders the lobster and steak and I love the soups they have to offer.

01-23-2020 If I could give NO STARS, I would - Red Lobster in Joliet, IL, I don't know what happened to it, but it has gone DOWN hill. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible service! Went there on Thursday 01-23-2020 arrived about 6:30pm, Hostesses were not nice, like they didn't even want to be there, said it would be about a 10 minute wait, not really sure why because the restaurant was half full. Once we were brought to our table waited about 15 minutes for someone to acknowledge us (again, not sure why restaurant was not busy) A lady took our drink orders and said another lady would be our waitress, ok we thought, then another 15 minutes before the our actual waitress (don't even know her name because she didn't have a name tag and didn't tell us her name ) she came with the drinks and she had the wrong order she left and it was about another 15 minutes to bring the right drinks ( 2 pops, 1 water and 1 bottle of beer (I asked for a glass for the beer, never received, didn't even bother asking again) she brought a basket of biscuits with the drink order, Luke warm, then had to wait about another 15 minutes for her to come back to take our order, we told her we also wanted to order a to go order and she ok, she would take it when she brought our food, never took it, about 15 minutes later she brings our salads and appetizer, then about a 1/2 hour later she brings our food, we asked for more biscuits ( never received a 2nd basket ) I usually go to red lobster for the bisquits - the food was OK, but then we had to ask another waitress if she could go find our waitress so we could place the to go order, because if it took as long as it did for our regular food, we didn't want to be there any longer than necessary, our waitress came back for a second to get the to go order, she Never once in the whole time we were there came to ask how our food was, how anything was, or even apologized for her disgusting service She came to our table maybe 4 times the whole time were there and we were there for 2 hours and NOT by our choice, I did give her a 15.00 tip, ( I keep asking myself why) but believe me, next time I go to a restaurant and I get service as bad as I did at Red Lobster in Joliet, IL, I will NOT give that big of a tip, this waitress maybe deserved 5.00 or less, it will be a long time before I go back to the Joliet Red Lobster, and I hope if or I do that they have better service. read more

Don't get me wrong, I know that endless shrimp comes with long wait times but this was just ridiculous! We got there about 6:40 and was told it was going to be about an hour wait. We were finally seated at about 8:05. It took 28 minutes for a waitress to come and get our drink order. By that time we were ready to order. It took another 20 minutes to get our salads. Once we got our salads we ordered refills of shrimp expecting it to take a while. We didn't get our first course until 9:32, after we requested to speak to a manager. A few moments later our refills came but everything was over dried out and gross. The fiesta shrimp that is supposed to have a "cheese sauce" on it had crusty dry chunks of cheese on it. We were so fed up we didn't even want to eat the food and the manager came out to speak to us. She seemed a little annoyed that we were complaining, saying that wait times are higher for endless shrimp and seemed even more annoyed when I explained that I observed 4 tables that were seated after us that had eaten their endless shrimp and left already. She (with an eye roll) told us that she would take one meal and a beverage off of our bill even though we had barely touched a bite of food. I decided then to at least box the food on the table to go. I even over heard a few waiters saying "more cheaps trying to get free all you can eat" on our way out. Hey its a red lobster. Nothing new here I just thought I would review what I ate vs the restaurant itself. I gave it 3 stars just because its so friggin expensive. Other restaurants serve the same fish for a lot cheaper. You all have been there so one is just like the next. I had the lobster nachos and honestly I really didn't care for them very much. They seemed quite greasy. Its always worth the trip just for the cheesy biscuits I think. Makes me sad to see those lobsters when you walk in awaiting their deaths after being a side show for small children banging on their glass. Hang in there guys! read more

Eat here all the time ! Service is always been outstanding in the food is always been great! Recently ,I tried the crab stuffed tilapia. Outstanding. Even their cut of steak is good for a seafood place! We eat hear probably 12 times a year. Don 't understand the bad reviews. This place has always been solid. Red lobster use to be a great dinner with the family or your significant other after a long day of work or even lunch with a group of co workers. The biscuits are always on point buttery and delicious an oh so soft. The waiters and servers very attentive but I must say the food isn't really worth the price the shrimp usually has been soaked in the garlic sauce which is full of butter. The size portion you get in meat is depended on how much your wiling to spend. Red lobster has become a place for boring people who don't care what they spend or taste as long as the service is good. Went there last night for dinner. First off the wait was too long and they had issues with the paging system which had set off all the pagers all at once. Second, we sat there for ten minutes nobody came up to us what so ever, No drinks or bread. Nothing. The salads have gotten smaller and we're not fresh. The seafood was not that great either, lobster was tough and had that fishy smell. I had the ultimate feast which was nasty and just not worth the money. The crab leg came missing parts of it and tasted straight up awful. The only reason I even gave it one star is for the server she was the only good experience at the place. Poor quality and highly overpriced! We ordered the seafood platters that included shrimp scampi and the scallops. The shrimp were slightly larger than the ones you get when you order shrimp fried rice at a Chinese Restaurant. The scallops were also smaller than a marble and had no flavor. This place is always good or bad based on your server. Red lobster is a mockery of fresh seafood. Service is always horrible. They act as if me wanting more biscuits is coming out of their paycheck. Food was very good; service sucked. Server brought biscuits - no plates for them - walked away after serving drinks when we were ready to order - came back and took orders. She was either very lazy or incompetent. Had to ask for dishes for appetizer or eat with fingers. Tipped her 15%, which was waaaay too much. If we eat there again and our next server follows suit (especially when they weren't busy) I will leave a $2.00 tip to show we were aware of leaving a tip, but her service was only worth $2.00. My first review was written 9/8/2012 and I tend to only go to Red Lobster once a year, for all you can eat shrimp no less. My last visit on 8/25/2013 Was for that same reason. I sat in the bar area as seating was PACKED!! I was greeted quickly, given menu's quickly, but a slight delay in getting a drink order or food order. I told the bartender I knew what I wanted the moment I pulled into the parking lot. Still, She was packed, and she was on her game, the other bartenders where just as helpful to make sure drinks, and shrimp came out as fast as they needed. She remembered my husband from the year prior, as well the bad service the other bartender had given me, and apologized quickly for that situation. She explained she was packed, and offered to give me 2 drinks at a time so that I didn't run out of iced tea as I drink a lot due to water pills, and saltiness in food. I was thankful that she was so thoughtful. The food arrived quickly in the beginning, but the kitchen started backing up, and the refills got slower and slower. It's not her fault, and she surprised me with a strawberry shortcake which actually had some mold on it. The mold is the only reason I'm giving not giving them 5 stars. Ordered a seafood Caesar salad that had 3 nickel sized shrimp and three pieces of lobster the size of the tip of your small finger, one inedible due to shell. Had a rum and coke and they used either vanilla flavored rum or coke. Disappointing and a waste of money. Too many good restaurants to go here. Expectantly, the cheddar bay biscuits make me carb overload every time. Average is the best way I can describe this location. The young hostess/manager at the front was very pleasant and upbeat. The wait staff seemed a bit scripted but professional. You could tell they were not thrilled to be there. But in no ways were they rude. The food again was average. However I did enjoy the appetizers of fried clams. read more

Very disappointed.. I have celebrated my cousins birthday here for the past 4 since he passed as a tradition due to the fact that it was his favorite restaurant. Sadly every time the service gets worse. But this time I've about had it i sat at the bar i waited a while to get my order taken which I understood because I'm a restaurant owner myself. But upon my order being taken I noticed a bit of attitude with the bartender she seemed irritated at my presence. When I got my salad drenched in dressing which made it wilt when I got my food it was alright not worth the price the salmon was good but the lobster was cold. I looked around for someone but I all I saw was 2 server slouched over on a table on their phones. I was irritated eventually the bartender returned wasn't given the chance to ask for dessert and was given the bill but I wasn't given my change back. I haven't been to a Red Lobster in 20+ years, if ever, I honestly don't recall. My husband was keen on going so I said ok. The parking lot was packed, the wait was 35 minutes, and the waiting area was full of people so I thought this was going to be good. The place looked decent but on hindsight it was probably just because the lightning was so dark you couldn't tell one way or another. We only picked soda to drink and it tasted like it was flat. The appetizers came in a dirty little dish like the food has just been slopped in there. My husband order his steak medium and it came well done. His lobster seemed ok though, we shared a bit of that. I ordered the lobster and shrimp linguini alfredo. The shrimp were tiny ones you get in fried rice and the lobster was barely even noticeable. I commented that it tasted almost exactly like what I make for dinner when I'm being lazy at home and not bothering to season a single thing only I don't make it swim in butter. Afterwards we ordered the apple pie with ice cream and for some reason they set it in front of my husband and only gave him silverware and I had nothing. Most places I've been to assume you are going to share it and give you both spoons but we had to be content and giggle over me eating some of it with MY KNIFE since we only had one fork left. We had to wait until a waitress rolled by to ask for another one. The apple pie was just some kind of mushy mess of crust and a very little of apple. The outrageous thing is this crap came out to 80 bucks for 2 people. My dish was 22 dollars alone for something I could boil myself and make tasteless the same way for about 5 dollars. Me and my o.g. went to red lobster for dinner the other night. We went right when they was at rush hour. Looked like everybody went there at same time. Food was the usual...pretty good seafood, cooked the right way. The service was a little slow, but i see our girl was real busy. Sure sounded like they was having fun in the kitchen, tho...they was having a good time playing around, and making noise. Next time I'm going to ask not to sit so close to kitchen doors. We decided to stop in for lunch Christmas Eve since my husband just had surgery on his mouth four days earlier and we were looking for a place he could get some softer foods. We had an awesome waitress Charde, she went out of her way to make sure my husband had a good experience. She brought him mashed potatoes even though they weren't asked for and extra rolls (he has been living off of rolls). the kindness was very much appreciated and I hope that she is recognized for going above and beyond. After getting seated and looking at the menu, lunch menu ended at 3.
