I called the Red Lobster in Mentor for a call ahead reservation for a party of five. When I got there signs were posted on the door stating only taking parties of 4 or less. When I walked in the hostess told me my reservation was ignored because we had a party of five. Instead of calling me they waited until we drove out there. I told her I was calling the corporate office. She told me to go right ahead she wouldn't seat us. I did call corporate and spoke to Tammy who informed me a Director of operations would contact me. No one ever contacted me, over a week later. Thank goodness Mentor has so many other great restaurants, that have great food and staff. Good luck to anyone who schedule's a reservation. read more

When I recently visited Red Lobster, with my family, we experienced THE WORST service ever. Our orders were incomplete, when they were bought out to the table. The Servers were unsure, and mixed up, as to who was suppose to actually wait on our table, when we were first seated. We asked for drink refills, several times and never received them. Also, I asked our server to bring me a Crab Cracker--several times-- so I could open my Crab Legs, but he NEVER did!!! I ended up taking the Crab Legs home, because I could not crack them open due to NOT HAVING the proper utensil!!! Additionally, they had a lot of MAJOR renovations going on at that property--so it should not have even been open for business, until the renovations were completed. Furthermore, the lighting above the tables was dark and dreary. And the TVs that were above the Bar area were not working. read more

Well, we decided to give red lobster another go since they split from darden. I was kind of shocked how messy the floor was when we went in but someone came out and swept it. We ordered iced teas. Fiancée got aim and I ordered peach. The first glass was very flavorful but the refill was weak. We got crab artichoke lobster dip for an appetizer and it was tasty. Sat relatively quickly. Got drinks relatively quickly. Even got an app relatively quickly....without silverware. Then it went downhill. Our drinks were NEVER refilled. Took us 45 minutes to get our entrees (and our utensils for the appetizer......which means we ate cold apps with our entree). Our airhead waitress didn't do a damn thing for us. She was hanging out at the hostess area yucking it up with the other young girls...no doubt talking about how dumb all these customers are. I am going to keep this brief and to the point. I tend to write more about experiences that I like. Look Red Lobster is a National chain (almost enough said) The prices are really high for the food quantity first and quality second. So on this visit went with friend and daughter. The daughter ordered Coconut shrimp. They were butterflied so they LOOK huge but paper thin (Not kidding anyone). Secondly TONS of breading and super sweet. Friend ordered steak and shrimp skewer. Shrimp never came and the steak was 1/8th inch think and dry. I ordered TWO orders of tacos. One with Lobster and one with Shrimp. There are only three tocos to an order at 14.00 (that is a lot for three soft shell toco's. Well twenty minutes after I ordered they informed me that they were out of taco shells. So.... I did not technically have dinner. I had my bowl of clam chowder tastes like cream, no real taste of clam 10 bucks. Also we had an appetizer; a lobster pizza. It is what it is really. The thin crust was kinda tasty. The cubes of tomato and fresh basil had a nice flavor with the sprinkling of cheese. I saw little flakes of what looked like crawdad's on the pizza I guess that was lobster? Anyway no hint of lobster flavor; even remotely. Tasted the tomato however and they were pretty good. I also noticed that snow crab was 20.00 per half pound. Snow crab shell is heavy so a pound of snow crab is really more like 4oz meat if you are lucky. There is an all you can eat crab place down the street (30.00 all you can eat). See my reviews of bumpers. Looking at the menu I can tell you they are experts at making a little LOOK like a lot. Rather than relying on the flavor of the fish they drench many of their dishes in some kind of sauce, or cheese. I guess it is not my thing. I've always been a fan of decent seafood on a budget, but after my last visit I'm certain that Red Lobster just doesn't fit the bill. The environment is off-putting from the beginning -- tables are placed so close together that there's little sense of privacy, even from other diners, and the walking areas are often clogged with traffic jams of patrons and servers. Fortunately, our server was incredibly nice and attentive to our needs. The quality of the food generally hasn't changed in years (that is to say, it'll do), but prices have risen while portion sizes have shrunk, and there is no longer any real value. The premium lobster bisque is $5 for a cup that isn't even full; salads now come on a long rectangular plate to disguise the fact that they're at least 1/3 smaller than before; lobster tails look as if they were cut from little baby lobsters; and the side dishes are simply insulting. No more Red Lobster for us. For the amount of money we spent on a meal for two, we'll find a real seafood restaurant that isn't afraid to give us more bang for our buck. read more

It wasn't busy when my boyfriend and I went out to dinner on a Saturday night. (Surprisingly) but we waited a long time for our food, while other patrons who came before us got served. My food was good, however boyfriend ordered shrimp scampi and it was just butterfly shrimp in a garlic butter and not the actual dish. He also ordered lobster mashed potatoes, which weren't hot. I've always avoided Red Lobster only because I think when it comes to seafood, I'd much rather spend the extra couple minutes on Yelp searching my options and spend that little extra on food that, if not fresh, can make you instantly ill. Now I never got sick at a Red Lobster and will go back once Discover Card sends me more $10 coupons, but until that happens, sorry Red Plopster, I will be passing. This location seems dark and gloomy, with out dated decor and slow service at the bar (based on 3 separate trips). One highlight that is worth mentioning is their Lobster Nachos, I do love those things. If you get the calamari, expect a huge platter of veggies too, kind of a mess, not very good presentation. They do have a lobster machine so you know that's fresh. Anyway, go to Red Lobster if you want seafood on a budget. Otherwise, take a scenic drive to Pickle Bills or look online for a local restaurant serving similar dishes, you'll be surprised on what you find. read more

While on a business trip, we decided to have dinner at this Red Lobster. Leah was our server and she was great. Her eagerness and personality made up for the bad mojito. She recommend good food to order. We didn't have to wait to long for the food and the food came out hot and tasting great. Leah was the highlight. We eat at Red Lobster very often and have a good experience. This time we were there at 4:30pm and were seated immediately. The sever was prompt and friendly. My appetizer, clam chowder, was excellent as always. But, when my main course arrived it looked as though they were running out of shrimp and shorted my plate. In addition my baked potato was so cold the butter wouldn't melt. When I asked the sever about these concerns he dismissed me like I was bothering him. We came in for lunch on a Friday afternoon, and the restaurant was next to empty. Our food was mediocre at best and the service jaw-droppingly bad. We had to ask for basic things like silverware and bread. Some other items like lemons, which should have garnished the seafood entrees, we had to ask for several times. The server didn't know to clear our dishes--so when there was no room to set down our dessert--she literally just handed it to us. Later, she mixed up our check with that of another table. When the manager came out in an apron to help, she appeared at the table drinking a soda. She was definitely a sweet girl who had not been trained to wait tables. I mean... mostly Red Lobsters are what they are. I will say that when I compare this to other Red Lobsters it is def a 4, but if you are expecting a fine seafood restaurant it is more of a 3. So, I will say I dont like seafood. I will eat fried fish and scallops, but otherwise it just isnt my cup of tea. My husband though loves seafood. We had giftcards from Christmas and figured we would try Mentor since the Orange one was hilariously awful. So, there were many big parties so they told us 15-20 min, but were seated in less than 5. The hostess was actually friendly. We got a server who was also friendly. She seemed extremely busy and had a large party, but she tried her best to be attentive. I am a fan of the 3 course meal, where I got the Chicken Alfredo. I didnt think they explained you get a half order, but i honestly think it is more than enough food. My husband got some lobster feast type meal. He did eat all of it and said it was good. I also enjoyed the brownie dessert even those the brownie was a little rich (I think there can be too much chocolate, so it is a personal preference). The server yesterday morning was a little rude, the restaurant could of gotten 5 stars out of me, but what deducted points from me was her attitude. Upon entering the restaurant , the hostess was running her fingers through her hair , she sat us and presented dirty menus (greasy fingerprints all over and pages that were sticking together). I ordered the rock lobster tail , after a lengthy time our food arrived , the lobster was tough , and had a poor gritty texture . It was overcooked . Manager David argued with me while listening to my concerns , took the lobster , came back to the table to assure me that he inspected and tried the lobster , he said it was not overcooked and that I don't know lobster and should not order rock lobster in the future , he proceeded to add that the muscles that were not open is OK to eat " they are precooked and come in frozen and offered to take them back and open them. Totally the worst experience for ordering a delivery I have ever experienced!ordered 3 dinners and Door Dash delivered. Only problem, one dinner was missing. Called Red Lobster and I was told the 3rd dinner wasn't prepared in time for Door Dash to bring to me?! They have it sitting there if I want to come pick it up? Huh? Why do you think I had it delivered? So I asked for a credit. Told I could only have a gift card no credit. I asked to speak to the manager VALERIE. VALERIE said since we ordered through Door Dash we don't get a credit, only a gift card. Why don't they tell you if you have it delivered and there is a mistake you don't get your money back. I became upset and told her I didn't want a gift card, I wanted my credit card to be credited. She said nope, don't do it that way. By now I was irate and told her I would dispute the charge and she said (laughing) Go ahead! Then she said Byeeeeee. So totally unprofessional I was blown away. This location is very rude, the quality of food is poor and the customer service is nonexistent. They do not care about the person who is ordering the food all they care about is making money. It takes 10-15 mins to get someone on the phone and when they do answer the line they are unhelpful and try to rush you off the line. The management is a joke and they seem to be only preoccupied with the diners and not the phone/online people ordering who are just as important as anyone else. The last two times I have been in the service has been less than stellar but today it was absolutely incompetent with a pick up order. I arrived ten minutes early and was told to wait in my car they would bring it out. I waited 20 and called again, and they hung up on me when they realized I already called. My boyfriend and I came here on a Tuesday night at 8:30 pm. They told us the wait would be at least 15 minutes... Just looking in we saw 6 dirty tables and the whole 22 minutes they made us wait no one cleaned any of the tables. It's always such mixed reviews when I come here. It was Saturday evening and it was busy, but not overly crowded. We used call ahead seating, but really didn't need to. There were plenty seats available. The place was messy inside, but they were working on cleaning soon after we were seated. It was about 7:30 in the evening but there were still a lot of families with kids so kind of noisy. We ordered the artichoke, crab, lobster dip for an appetizer and it was flavorful. I ordered coconut shrimp for dinner and my fiancée got the broiled trio with tilapia, crab stuffed shrimp and garlic shrimp. We both ordered the lobster mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious.
